As we are all getting to know each other better through these threads I thought I would ask : What is your personal philosophy, basic beliefs, values, and pursuit of happiness? What paths of discipline do you follow on your roads to wisdom?

It's not so much a personal philosophy as much as it is just an adopted yet adaptive lifestyle.
I tend to keep things simple in the midst of having great fun. I highly value and enjoy time
spent with family and friends.
I try to keep things balanced.
My basic beliefs: keep it simple and apply the Golden rule.
Don't make assumptions.
Don't pass judment.
Don't take things personally.
Do my best in all things, especially having fun ;)
I have a strong values system that incorporates moral, ethical and personal values that
are common sense and very basic. My moral compass is always pointing true North.
My morals and values guide my discipline, and vice versa. It's all really simple. I have a base
of incredible family and friends. I'm very discerning in my friendships, and it has built a truly
great circle of friends.
It's not really having to stay disciplined- it's simply a way of life. <img src= border=0>

There is only 1 race, and that is the human race.

Religion is nothing but a function of control and a way to seperate and segregate people, we need to stop seeing how we are different, and see how we are the same.

We need to love all living things, and treat all living things with respect, trees, enovironmental habitats, insects, animals... everything. Using animals for medical experiments and cosmetic experiments is wrong

How a life is lived, is what it is worth (Skinner)... example, it is better to save a healthy and well living dog\cat\monkey from a burning building than a human in a constant vegetative state

You're free to do as you wish, as long as your freedom does not impose or impede the freedoms of someone else

You DO NOT live to work, you work to live

All you need is love... and science.

well on the threads I must say, I like to laugh in the threads and type s%^$.

My personal philosophy is put nobody on a pedestal it only complicates simple things. Everybody is the same.
Treat every one with respect.
Keep your eyes open and your mouth shut.
If you can help your fellow man, help him.
My word is my bond, if I say it I have to go through with it.

- Never loan more than you can afford to lose.
- Expect as little as possible from people and therefore live through less disappointment. It's always nice when people exceed your expectations as well.

I am of late very fond of the saying; "you cannot change the world but only change yourself." Still in the early stages on this one.

Well that was my 2 cents and I was already broke so be grateful for what you got

Not at all. I know you can all guess that I am a very sexual person, and I veiw the world around me with a sensual perspective. I set daily as well as long term goals. I keep my word, live a simple life, and enjoy easy, uncomplicated things.
I work every other week so I can have the time to travel and spend with the people I love, making new friends along the way. I am a creative soul that expresses myself through my art work and poetry. I try to learn one new thing every day, taking one at a time.

I do thank everyone for their posts. What a nice positive way to get to know each other better. BTW~ Hi my name is Margo, and Im happy to hear what everyone has to say.

My personal philosophy is that I wound up here somehow and will be gone again without ever knowing why it happened or what happened, so for the time being my job is to look busy and daydream as much as possible. The two major themes of existence as best as I can make them out are absurdity and irony. For example, it has taken the universe billions of years to evolve to the point of there being small plastic packets of mustard to put on ham sandwiches. Try fitting that into your cosmology with a straight face. I'll trade you an hour of profound insights for a good long peek down your blouse. Philosophies of the grand type may be very useful. Personal ones, only as far as you can throw them.

My personal philosophy in life is to find something I want to achieve and then, to achieve it.

My personal philosophy is to remain who ā€œIā€ am and learn all that I need to, in the pursuit of becoming a better me!

I believe that we create our own happiness. In the light of that happiness being achievable, you can set your sites on that goal all the while remembering to take a moment enjoy the here and now :)

My values are to respect others beliefs and thoughts.

I believe the easiest way for me to answer is by first saying my personal philosophy is based on the idea of flexibility.

I know my passion is often reason lacking...morals gone astray. There are no principles I live by that I can name off hand...I appreciate the past and consider the future...I care about things when I am involved in it only through contemplating.

I believe this life is all I have and what I will ever know. My values are such as cherish, love, and hold...I believe others are faced with such a life even if they don't believe I too choose that approach to others. Life is but a tiny thing in the scheme of what there is but I love to make it larger though it doesn't matter.

Happiness is but a smaller coin found in a well of pursue such a coin we sometimes lose sight of the bigger things...what lies beside, on and under, beyond, front and back that is what life is all about.

So I remain flexible.

I'm a dreamer and a realist.. I believe in given someone else another chance despite their failure. I love the power a singe word holds! I believe experience is the best teacher of life, and often the best advice is sometimes no advice at all!
When my Life Beacon's, I arise to the occasion! I enjoy the beauty of an evening sunset coupled with the beauty of just being alive! I like most physical activities such as working-out and all sports. I'm competitive enough to be number one, but humble none the less to be second best... and through those circumstance I have matured as an individual who truly loves himself, and others!
I attended the University Of South Florida, and now it's my goal to obtain a masters in "elementary education, and teacher's leadership from MSU..What make me unique and so passionate is the blessing I was afforted as a child where I was adopted and given the best family any miracle could suffice. This has motivated and inspired me to become that same miracle to others who deserve the same, so I will give back and help the betterment of the less privileged children and troubled juveniles without parents or the proper support, leadership, and structured life skills each child most truly deserves. too many questions.

Oh, me? be talking to anybody about anything with a fairly open and nonjudgmental mind.

Or, just keep the mouth shut.

What is your personal philosophy, basic beliefs, values, and pursuit of happiness?

I do not know everything there is to know so I'm open to listening/learning. I am not perfect and do not expect perfection in others. I believe that we are all good/bad but given a choice we will choose being good over being bad.

I do not follow any paths of discipline perse, simply because I am a very undisciplined person. I follow the messages from my soul or try to (not perfect, remember)....some call it their gut instincts. I've learned that when I follow the message of my soul, I do not end up wishing I had taken a different path.

I could go on at length, but my personal mission is to have fun and make a difference. some sayings that fit me well include:

Be the change you want to see happen.

An ideal is like the north star. You may never get there but it serves well as a guiding point.

Have no expectations but rather abundant expectancy.

Just because you're right doesn't mean you're doing the right thing.

You get a lot farther with a handshake than a clenched fist.

Be patient, yet persistent.

The planet will win. Once you recognize this it can be a lot of fun to play on the winning team.

Assume all people you meet are essentially good.

Provide people with opportunities to give

Perceive problems as opportunities

Create your own reality consciously, rather than living as if you have no control over your life.

my personal philosophy
to laugh
to enjoy the moments that I have
when hurt
to remember to move on
to speak my mind
and not yield to those that I find offensive
to alter my conscious just enough
that I can return to reality
to have dreams until the end
to reflect but understand that the answers will probably never come
to not judge too harshly
to remain a pacifist in a violent world
to dance when they say I am too old to
to sing though I can't sing on key
to not take life or myself too seriously
and at the end
rage into that good night....

I don't have any one particular personal philosophy.
When people ask if I believe this or that, I say, " I don't necessarily believe anything but I do believe in what works ".
If a thing works and is practical, useful, and efficient, then I believe in it. When it stops working and being useful, I stop believing in it.

99% of genius is simply recognizing the obvious.
All of the great discoveries in history were made by people who simply recognized something perfectly obvious, but everyone else failed to see it.
Einstein didn't discover relativity through years of hard work and labor. He discovered it the moment he removed the blindfold of conventional thinking.

Everybody wants the truth but few people want the work of finding it. Almost everyone wants the truth to be given to them by someone else who's done all the work.
Naturally, the truth you earn for yourself is never as expensive as the lies sold by others.

My personal philosophy can best be described by quoting some of my favorite quotes, with a few that have more or less become daily affirmations of are just a few in no particular order:

You reap what you sow.

Kindness breeds kindness.

Treat others as you wish to be treated.

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.
~Friedrich Nietzsche~

The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.
~Friedrich Nietzsche~

Today I bent the truth to be kind, and I have no regret, for I am far surer of what is kind than I am of what is true.
~Robert Brault~

Through my efforts, I gain the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.

Live and let live - harm no one - to each their own.

And last but not least...

There are times when one would like to hang the whole human race, and finish the farce.
~Mark Twain~
