Canola oil, soybean oil used as key ingredients in pesticide products Page 1 of 1

The video shows how one pesticide product that kills insects is made with 96% canola oil and is so dangerous that the label says, "Hazards to humans and domestic animals."

Most poisons that that capable of killing you are measure in parts per million when stating the fatal amount so in the 4% of active ingredients that you have ignored I am sure that you will find some thing that is deadly at 4 parts per 100 or less.

Not wishing to alarm you but do you realise that those pesticides that aren't oil based are usually water based once again with usually only parts per million of active ingredients

If you drink too much water it will kill you.
If I feed red meat to the green tree frog that has taken up residency in my laundry tub, it would kill it.
If you believe every thing that you see on the Internet, you will have people die laughing at you.

There is a lot of misinformation as well as information so caution and critical thinking is always a good filter before becoming alarmed

Is there no limit to the nonsense these days?

Dormant oil spray is an insecticide commonly used by organic gardeners/orchardists. As noted above, the oil - harmless to humans - coats the insects and causes some to suffocate.

Organically grown canola oil is widely sold in health food stores. People use it all the time. It's quite handy for cooking when one wants a neutral tasting oil, as in baking. There is nothing wrong with soybean oil, either. I just personally don't care for it as much.

"Regardless of the source or type, all oil-based
products have a similar mode of action. Insecticidal
oils kill insects on contact by disrupting gas exchange
(respiration), cell membrane function or structure.
They also kill them by disrupting their feeding on oil covered
surfaces. Their toxic action is more physical
than chemical and is short-lived. When used against
plant pathogens, oils may smother fungal growth and
reduce spore germination on treated surfaces. They are
mostly fungistatic, stopping fungal growth rather than
killing the pathogens. Stylet oils are highly refined oils
and may control insect-vectored plant viruses in addition
to insects, mites and fungal pathogens. These oils
reduce the ability of aphids to acquire the virus from an
infected plant and transmit it to healthy plants. Stylet
oils may interfere with the virus’s ability to remain in
aphid mouthparts (stylets). Some plant oils that contain
sulfur compounds, such as neem oil, may possess additional
fungicidal activity compared to petroleum oils."

Simply put. The oils are not "toxic" to the insects or to humans. They simply act as fungicides and suffocate many insects on contact while choking others when the eat it. Additionally those toxins that are present in the pesticides most likely coat better and last longer in an oily and water resistant medium.
