Here's a song that hits me hard whenever I think of how things ended with the one-and-only love of my life. It's a song about how fear consumes relationships and leaves both lovers lost and suffering in pain. I freaking love it. It's by Fuel and it's called "Hemorrhage".

Breakup????? Frig,,,doesn't that mean I should be going out with someone first????? How about the "hookup" songs first????? THAT's what most of us need right now.

I love Luther Vandross.

break up songs...I might like the song but wont play it while I am sad over a
breakup....they only bring on the tears. actually I dont even listen to much music
when I am already sad. why make it worse.?

thats why I like the song by Bad Company that says

Walkin' down this rocky road,
Wondering where my life is leading,
Rollin' on, to the bitter end,
Finding out along the way,
What it takes to keep love living,
You should know how it feels, my friend,

Ooh, I want you to stay,
Ooh, I want you today,

I'm ready for love,
Oh baby, I'm ready for love,
Ready for love,
Oh baby, I'm ready for love, yeah,
Oh, for your love,

Now I'm on my feet again,
Better things are bound to happen,
All my dues surely must be paid,
Many miles and many tears,
Times were hard, but now they're changing,
You should know that I'm not afraid, ooh,

Ooh, I want you to stay,
Ooh, I want you today,

I'm ready for love,
Oh baby, I'm ready for love,
Ready for love,
Oh baby, I'm ready for love, mmm,
Oh, I'm ready for love,
Hey, hey,
I'm ready for your love,

Ooh, I want you to stay,
Ooh, I want you today,

and it goes on with a verse or two....I cant help it...saw them live and this song just helps me move along as I am going on my next date.(hoping it will be my last first date)

I don't really have a "Break up song", I would rather like to add:

But before you bury your love, make sure you let it die:

There are two songs I played a lot after my wife asked for a divorce up until it was finalized.

I can't make you love me-Bonnie Rait
Heart of the Matter-Don Henley but India Arie's version

I met the girl I recently broke up with at a concert by Joe Bonamasa, an awesome blues guitarist. My favorite song was this haunting ballad called "Sloe Gin" (check it out on You Tube. It's an awesome song). The next day I bought the CD, and I loved this song in particular and played it frequently. Now I can't listen to it because it makes me sad. Bummer.

Here are the words. This is a perfect breakup song!

Sloe gin, sloe gin
Tryin' to wash away the pain inside
Well, I'm sick and I'm all done in
And I'm standin' in the rain
And I feel like I'm gonna cry

I'm so damn lonely
And I ain't even high
I'm so damn lonely
And I feel like I wanna die

Mayday, Mayday
I've been shot down over stormy sea
Well, I feel like I'm driftin' away
Can't seem to get a grip on me
Now I can't even try

I'm so damn lonely
And ain't even high
I hate to go home alone
But what else is new
I'm so damn lonely

I hate to go home alone
But what else is new
I'm so damn lonely

You stand there bleedin'
People pass me by
No matter if you live
No matter if you die

Sloe gin, sloe gin
Tryin' to wash away the pain inside
Well, I'm sick and I'm all done in
I'm standin' in the rain
And I feel like I'm gonna die

I'm so damn lonely
And ain't even high
I'm so damn lonely

Sloe gin, honey
Baby, come and get the best of me

Paul Carrack - Don't Shed A Tear

Cab fare to nowhere is what you are.
A white line to an exit sign is what you are.

Best break-up song ever!

Of course everyone has a song or two that they like to turn on and cry with once they've broken up! I have plenty. I just want to share a song that actually helped me cope with my break up and feel better. If you're a country fan, you'll know it.

Stronger - Sarah Evans

If ever I'm having a low day I get in my car and blast it and sometimes I sing along, sometimes I shout the words out...sometimes I just listen.

Anyone else got a song like that?

I have quite a few.

Black - Pearl Jam (I'm pretty sure this is the best break-up song ever written)
Ghost of What Should Have Been - Owen (This is a very close second)
Angels of the Silences - Counting Crows
Forever Close My Eyes - Dalek

by Drowning Pool...

Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor

Beaten, why for (why for)
Can't take much more
Here we go here we go here we go, now

One, nothing wrong with me
Two, nothing wrong with me
Three, nothing wrong with me
Four, nothing wrong with me

One, something's got to give
Two, something's got to give
Three, something's got to give
Now!

Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor

Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Now!

Push me again (again)
This is the end
Here we go here we go here we go, now

One, nothing wrong with me
Two, nothing wrong with me
Three, nothing wrong with me
Four, nothing wrong with me

One, something's got to give
Two, something's got to give
Three, something's got to give
Now!

Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor

Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor

Skin to skin, blood and bone
You're all by yourself but you're not alone
You wanted in and now you're here
Driven by hate, consumed by fear

Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor

One, nothing wrong with me
Two, nothing wrong with me
Three, nothing wrong with me
Four, nothing wrong with me

One, something's got to give
Two, something's got to give
Three, something's got to give
Now!

Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor

Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor

Hey... Go!
Hey... Go!
Hey... Go!
Hey... Go!
Hey... GO!

This Nickle Creek song speaks volumes about my past failed relationships. Funny that I was reaquainted with this song shortly after my latest dating failure. I guess until you pick the right one, no one can pick them. . .

Right now, "headphones" by Close To Home helps when I'm angry and "fearless" by Colbie Caillat is for when I'm needing something slow....
Oh and "ridin solo" by Jason Derulo. Mainly for the part "you told me to get my sh*t together. well now i got my sh*t together. i'm sorry that it didn't work out. i'm moving on"

Depends which part of the breakup phase one is in. . If it's a feel sad, and cry. .
"Everybody hurts" by R.E.M.
If I want something happier and more uplifting, anything country.
If it's a think over and be glad it's over. ."Low" or "Message" by Coldplay. There are more, but these are the ones that come to mind.
