I'm just curious about what everyone is currently reading? What type of books/genre to you prefer.

I read a wide variety of books. I just started reading Beauty for Ashes by Dorothy Love

Not much for fiction reading... and also never saw much of how that interests people so much. ( not a slam but I really never got it or into it)

I read lots of non fiction and seem drawn to things like asian cooking techniques...
as I love thai food.
Also love reading multiple listings ( real estate) and learning about various areas because I would like to move in the next 4 to 6 years.
Also health issues involving supplements and things involving raw food diets.

With all that, I really have no time to read anything else.
so my genre is " culture, real easte and health" of the reality series :)

I just finished the book The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, by Stieg Larsson.

Darn good books!

I am currently reading The Fault in our Stars by John Green. I have read only one other book by him, Looking For Alaska. He is an awesome writer. Very funny, and can pull at heartstrings.

I also love Harry Potter, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, The Hunger Games Trilogy, and many others.

I think Young Adult is probably my preferred genre, but I am starting to get into murder mysteries.

So for YA for a 14 year old boy who doesn't like to read but likes sci fi, what do you recommend? His favorite book of all time was Hunger Games. I'm trying to get him to read more and don't know of any YA sci fi like Hunger Games.

When We Were Strangers...interesting fiction/history...young girl from a mountain town in Italy/Opi/ is on a journey as she envisions moving to America...very good so far...rustic terrain and simplicity that stands out in a comforting way after a day of nonsense...:)

Seuteunius : The 12 Ceasers . . . Seuteunius was the court historian for Emperor Hadrin in the roman empire. In his book the 12 Ceasers he gives rather telling and scadalous (sometimes witty) portrayls of the first 12 Emperors of Rome. Starting with Ceaser and ending with Domitian

When We Were Strangers...

The title reminded me of We Were the Mulvaneys by Joyce Carol Oates. Takes place in the 70's in Western NY. Really a heartbreaking book about family. I'm not normally a fan of hers but after that I'm rethinking.

"I is for Infidel" by Kathy Gannon. Highly recommended book on Afghanistan. "Breathing The Fire" by Kimberly Dozier is another book I'd recommend.

What is Foxfire about? Those National Book Award winners are slow going sometimes (Cold Mountain comes to mind-lordy and I think they made a movie out of it too.) I did read The Shipping News a long time ago and it grew on me by the end. I've read a couple of books since then in a similar style whose titles escape me-it's nice to read about middle aged men for a change too much menopausal literature.
I'm 3/4 of the way done with The Secret History by Donna Tartt, I like her descriptions of Vermont. I've written down a few of the book suggestions. Shy librarians....
