I haven't read them. From the little I've heard about them, I'd consider the bondage stuff in them fairly mild, at least when compared with my own activities.

If you really want to read some wild stuff, I can put you in touch with some of the darker literature web sites :)

I like the way PittsburgVixen put it.....what they call fantasies, I call plans.

I don't get why women are so gaga over this book. I read the first one. Did nothing for me. To each his own.

Haven't read it yet but plan to. My sister loved them, says they are calling them mommy porn. If you like these you would probably enjoy books by Lorelei James, seriously hot.

Funny link but I can think of much better "things" to be doing with my toys.
I do not believe some silly novel would suffice as a preoccupation.

My 21 year old daughter recommended these books so I started the first one two weeks ago....ended up downloading them all to my nook and reading them in one weekend. They are a little different as far as exploring the bondage issues but when you find out that THAT part of the book is only a SMALL part, they're really good. I loved the story between Ana and Christian and they were not unrealistically written. Those types of relationships do happen in real life and it is realistic fiction. Even some of my guy friends are reading them.

No, I don't necessarily feel that you'll find out what a woman wants but you do find out what some women crave. To be taken care of, to be loved, to have a commanding presence (not controlling!) and to have someone who wants to put her needs above his.

They are well written (who ever said that was totally wrong and must not be a writer) and the subject matter, although considered "taboo" by some is an area that many people want to explore.

On my own personal opinion, they're awesome! I enjoyed reading them and not just for the sex....though that was nice too. :-)

Many women have secret submissive fantasies....waiting for the right guy and/or circumstance to unleash........that feeling of vulnerablity, ceding control to another, anticipation, uncertainty, unpredictability.....those can be powerful aphrodysiacs....er.....yes, it does happen.

MMMM I like my men in charge lol too many guys these days dont like the dominant position. I loved 50 shades, but I also love Sookie Stackhouse novels, they are more soft porn than 50 shades. I have pretty much tried everything in the first book and then some.

My local library has 50 shades so it must not be too hard core. They won't carry the Lorelei James books I like.

Haven't read them yet - might, might not.

But for those that find the subject matter titillating , find yourself a copy of 9 1/2 weeks - if possible . The book that the movie with Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger was based on (a cop-out movie in my opinion).

Real heat there for certain !

Thats the part that confuses me. I understand the translation to roleplay but my disconnect is when to figure out when its something women want to move to roleplay and when they have a fantasy that they just want to keep a fantasy and never manifest it into reality. Sometimes both men and women don't feel entirely comfortable answering the question honestly.

Communication is everything. You have to start those discussions about secret fantasies and possible kink once trust and a true connection has been established. Make it all about her secret desires.....playfully coax, tease and tantilize......like a seduction. Be coy and confident......unlike so many others. Let her know that whatever she reveals is fine by you and no matter what......she won't be judged for it. Then when you find out what secretly arouses her, develop some "what if" scenerios and stories that might tickle her fancy. Be sure and let her know that these don't have to be acted upon. Women get hung up on that bigtime and tend to think every guy is secretly angling for a three-way. The main point is to be erotically open and to explore each other's desires. You never know what might come tumbling out; once you create a safe, trusting and open environment.

I read it. It was an easy read. Somewhat tame actually.

Anne Rice wrote a trilogy a while back under the pseudonym "A. N. Roquelaure" that was WAY more intense.

^^^ The Beauty books are much better.

If you really want to go into the subject, Laura Antoniou's "Marketplace" series is the best I've read.

"Story of The Eye" by George Bataille is the only erotic fiction I ever read and still I feel there is no equal to what was done in that story.

I just read an article indicating that many County Public library systems around the Atlanta area have banned it saying they don't do erotica.

Do they carry any bodice rippers?

I read the Beauty series when I was a teenager. I can't get into it again now tho. It's a GREAT fantasy, but reality is far different.

I've read the first one and I am now on the second one....you're right very poorly written. I'm a pretty liberal girl and have done some playful bondage, but I don't find the books very titilating at all....

And, when you meet someone that tries to pull this on you, you'll likely be right back here, starting a thread, asking advice or complaining about the weirdo you met. LOL!

umm... No I won't.
