Erectile Dysfunction ... how prevalent is it?Page 1 of 8    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)
According to http://40over40.ca/, 40% of men over the age of 40 are affected by it even if temporary.

I don't know if that is reflective of other studies/data gathered.

"what's your remedy for increased sexual frustration"?

Masturbation. Toys, altho I prefer the real thing, but if there is an issue with that then the toys are a backup for me. I also don't have a problem engaging in mutual masturbation, or laying in his arms while I get myself off. There's also oral and manual (by him). I am not without something.

Oh.. I should mention ED hasn't been a problem for me as I tend to date younger guys.

dunno how prevalent is it in your age bracket but with something like 40% of men around my age (40) having a problem, seems to me it'll just get worse the older you look.

The little blue pill may be the solution, but that has it's own risks. But there is always the oral route. Since I myself have a bit of a problem, I make sure I do it right before it gets to that point, so if I don't "get mine" it's alright.

This was an issue with 1 guy I dated due to blood pressure meds. It was more frustrating to him than to me. I found the best choice for him was oral because he was more relaxed. For me there was lots of fingers and oral. Was it ideal... no. But I never felt like I was lacking anything either.

I'm having difficulty finding a man that does not have this issue in my age bracket. My limits are 53 to 63 aged males.

Time to do away with the phony age limits, expand your choices a bit..No need to cut yourself off from younger guys who wont have the erection issues.

Why aren't these guys trying Viagra or Cialis? Are they too proud or embarrassed to go to their doctors?

several reasons.

If you take nitro for a heart condition, viagra can cause serious problems. If you take certain blood pressure medications, viagra could be potentially fatal. I don't have high blood pressure or a heart condition but my doctor is wary of prescribing viagra due to my size.

If, like in my case, the problem isn't that the equipment doesn't work, but rather nerve damage resulting in loss of sensation, I'm not gonna take any viagra anyway. I can get there on my own, it just takes a little more time and effort sometimes the loss of feeling makes it difficult to maintain arousal. Not impossible, just difficult.

I like older men as a general rule...older as in a few years older not like 60. Unfortunately, I have heard this as well from my g/f's who are married or dating men who are this age as well. The men want companionship but they can't be sexual because the pipe is broken. Scares me because I am highly sexual when I am in a relationship. I want sex like I want breakfast and I love bacon and eggs.

I remember my first B/F and how he used to tell me I insatiable. But he said it in a bad way. Then I married a man who had sexual issues because of what happened to him in his childhood so I did without for much of our 20 years together.

I really just want to meet my match sexually....I pray for him....really I do. For now though I keep myself wanting until he comes along because I have no desire to Fuk half of Pensacola, but geesh, I don't want to meet a guy, fall in love, only to find out he can't get it up.

"get off all those meds eat right, relax, and get outside no more 'ED' simple"

I liked that one too, but need more instructions; do I just go outside, do I have to be naked, and do I have to spread my legs so all that fresh air can get to my willy? Then it automatically goes up simply because I'm outside? And, of course, is that what I tell the judge when I get arrested? That I was 'airing it out' to fix my ED? Wow, that's a great excuse for flashers now, isn't it!

Many health problems can cause this. It's important for the man to get himself to a doctor because sometimes the problem can be fixed rather easily. Low-testosterone, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc can all cause ED. What annoys me off are those guys who refuse to go to the doctor and just expect the woman to live with it. I'm only willing to live with it I love man and it's completely and totally untreatable. Sex isn't the most important thing in a relationship but it is important.

could be they cant get it due to health concerns.. or because they cant afford to cough up 10 bucks a pill.

I would like to add my nickels worth to this thread. I take blood pressure meds and yes they can effect a mans ability to achieve a proper erection. I see my Docter a regularly 1 to 2 times a per year and have no
problem asking for prescription for viagra or calais and keep a good supply on hand. I have had my testosterone
checked and it is high and I have seen no decline in my sex drive.

I recently ask my Pharmacist at a major drug store chain how much ED meds they sell, she told me " A bunch
to all ages form the youg to very old "

Maybe one problem with men is that they are afriad to go to the doctor and won't admitt that they have a
problem.

Could also be a partner problem, maybe a guy is just not sexually attracted to the woman anymore,or perhaps she doesn't have very good bedroom skills/technique to get a rise from him....it's not always the guys fault

I assume you actually know the levels Vs a doctor telling you that in their opinion the levels were high.

So do you know the actual level in ng/dL and what is it? I think it is useful to know other men's levels for comparison and discussion.

I am 54 and have never had any problems. I think diet and exercise can effect this. Also certain meds. I could easily have sex up to 3 times a day and I still wake up with a piss hard. I eat a strict diet and exercise all the time and have been doing it since I was young. People guess my age in the late 30's or early 40's: you are what you eat. Diet and exercise plays a big part, go to my profile and look at the picture of me with my Sensei( teacher ), He's 64 and looks 40ish !

It is a common myth that morning erections are caused by a full bladder. This is untrue. While the reason for morning erections is unknown, we do know that the erections are closely associated with REM sleep.

On average a healthy male will have between three and five erections in a full night sleep, with each erection lasting between 25 -35 minutes.

you are what you eat

I hope I don't turn into a p#ssy.

most men, if not taking heavy drugs, are just fine,
when I was in high school, just before, the pharma craze started,
I remember going up to the geriatric floor, very old men,who had lost all of there sences, where still, chasing after the nursing assistants with erections
all of them,
the nurses would joke that, men loose everything their mind, contenance ,speech, but not their erections lol
and it was true!
the food we eat is ,shlt, they try and over medicate everybody, all for profit, and there is a lot of profit being made
look up what goes into anything prosssesed, its no wonder the west is so out of shape, but then, there is the diet industry, they profit, fashion, profits, the giant food companies profit, and again, the phar corporation, profit
if anyone just eats well, get some exersise, knows how to relax, the whole ED problem would go away
and people woul'nt have any problems, sexually.

I always ask for a copy of my blood work when it is taken and I am at doctors visit to discuss the results. I had bllod work done at the end of December this year my free testosterone was 11.9 pg/ml ( normal is 6.6 -18.1 ) and my free testosterone was 876 ng/dl (normal 193-740).

I have had the "pushing a chain uphill" problem once and a while...but it was mainly a "wiskey d**k syndrom." I had high blood pressure and what most peeps fail to understand is high BP works the opposite way...unlike a hydraulic pump where the more pressure the more flow. High BP restricts the flow because your arteries tighten up...When my doctor put me on the BP pills It was like viagra...more intense woodies! But as peeps say exercise and diet drop it naturally..

Jff: A 40+ couple sitting at the kitchen table having their morning coffee. Wife says to the husband "You know you should check into getting some male enhancements." The husband replies "I did! she's 24 and her name is Lisa!"

Cheers!
