Can you cook a turkey in a slow cooker??Page 1 of 1
Miss Nina it can in fact be done. Except you won't have the crispy skin on the outside. And I would think trying to take it from crockpot to oven to crispen the skin would be difficult as the turkey would fall apart. So yes, long as you don't mind not having a crispy outside....and to me, mmm that's one o the best parts!

Ninasimone11- If it's big enough you can. Just add some water, a little cooking oil and seasonings. Use a meat thermometer to make sure it's done.
If you're worried about it browning, take it out and bake it in the oven the last half hour at 425 degrees.

Can you cook a turkey in a slow cooker??

Christmas, I made a huge breakfast at my house so the kiddles could see what
silly Santa left for them under Grammy's tree! so ... my daughter-in-law said she
would do a turkey for dinner at her house ... before she came to my house Christmas
morning, she started a turkey breast with wings but no brown meat ... she said SHE
doesn't like brown meat ... so just made what SHE liked! she cooked it in a crock
pot/slow cooker in chicken broth ... it was wonderful but had NO resemblance to a
roast turkey!

it was really good, very tender and she used the broth to make gravy ... and it was
GREAT ... it tasted NOTHING like a roast turkey but it's good to shake things up
sometimes ... turns out she doesn't like cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes or stuffing
either ... ok with me ... her house - her rules!

You know what is even better? Deep frying a turkey. Takes ~70-80 minutes and it comes out amazing.

You can't throw every thing into a deep fryer and leave it cook all day.
