if you left the auto billing unchecked, then i`m afraid it looks like you have no legal claim for a refund :O)

it is a CPA it is a money spinner for a lot sites, make a note when expiry date and cancel before, i even did this with one site and they still billed me, but i had a cancel email so visa got sent a copy and it was refunded in full, a mate at work was billed 150 quid annual as he didnt cancel , this is what they bank on, maybe a pre pay credit card if they are accepted as then no money on card no loss

How were you "tricked" into paying for a free service?
Didn't you read the user agreement that you agreed to when you upgraded?
Were any lies told to you?
Didn't you realize you could use this site freely? Despite the page headline saying "the leading free online dating site" and the front page saying "3. You never have to pay to message anyone!"?

POF are not responsible for user naivete. If you choose to purchase an upgraded membership then it's your choice and your responsibility to cancel the recurring billing that you agreed to. It clearly states that refunds are not given.

There's a question or two here....
why is an American posting this on a UK forum?
why has she not read the other responses?
or am I being simplistic (again) ?

If you paid via PayPal, you can cancel the subscription by following the below instructions. POF is acting in a clearly misleading and probably illegal manner. The upgrades are advertised as a plan duration. e.g. '3 Month Plan'. It is actually a 3 monthly plan and does not end at the stated plan duration but rolls on for 10 cycles (when using PayPal '3 Month Plan'). POF should re-word their advertising and I believe it is trickery in the way it is worded. Luckily I noticed before my subscription rolled on.

If you log into pof, go to ACCOUNT ,which is up in the right hand corner, right below LOG OUT,

Then, over on the left of the page ( fairly certain), you`ll see the option to "cancel automatic billing",

I cant remember if its already ticked by default, but anyway, wether its already ticked or not, you need to do the opposite ( ie,if its ticked, UN tick it ) ,

I hope that helps :O)

You need to mail Admin, & get your bank to cancel payments at the same time.....
No point in posting here, Admin don't come here.

I think when your time is over an awful lot of stuff will be cancelled. If that advice does not help, please refer to the message 2 up and on the previous page.

Thank you for providing this info. POF is really tricky and there is no upgraded membership cancellation option on the site. My only choice was to cancel POF completely and create a new account again. Now, I can relax and say with a smile, POF, try to bill me again... :-)

..........cancelling your profile does not cancel your bank instructions.
Make sure that you have instructed your bank not to pay
funds to POF / Match / affiliates.............

No, you can't... try reading the T&C in future rather than just ticking that you have read them, ya divvy...
Also, this is a forum and not a help section, ya double divvy

You have to cancel it yourself there's nothing any of us forum users can do. But you probably won't even find your way back here to view this answer.

Another one from America. They must Google it and this thread shows first so they blindly add to it 😏

I'd check in paypal under recurring payments/subscription and see if you can stop it there.

This is why I wont subscribe to any dating sites.
They insist on renewing the subscription at the end of the period.

Goal!!!! The first for months.

There's a very simple way to do this - just send me $5 or £5 by Paypal refundable when I've cancelled your recurring membership fee.
