Picnic at Phillippe Park, Safety Harbor, Sunday March 17, 2013

Come and join us to celebrate St Patricks Day at this historic and picturesque park located in Safety Harbor. There were many who attended the one held in November and we had a great time. Bring a dish to share and lets meet and mingle. The site reserved has electricity so there will be music for dancing and grills to cook on. Restrooms and parking near by and the shelter should be easy to find as it is the first one after entering the park.

Sunday, March 17, 2013
11:00 am to ???

Location:
Phillippe Park – Shelter #5
2525 Phillippe Parkway
Safety Harbor FL 34695
727-669-1947
Take Enterprise Rd, turn left onto Phillippe Parkway and then right into the entrance of the park. Shelter #5 will be on the right
(Please google for directions from your location)

If you have any games you would like to bring, please do so. Also welcome will be additional tables and folding chairs for those who don't like sitting on picnic benches.

There is NO COVER CHARGE and NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED. The age range for this group is any where from the 20's to the 70's with the majority being 30's-60's.

A historically rich park acquired in 1948 and named after Count Odet Philippe, who introduced citrus culture to Florida.
The existing park, was part of the original Philippe plantation from which several citrus trees still remain. An Indian mound listed in the National Register of Historic Landmarks as the Safety Harbor Site is also located within the park.
Much of the 122-acre park is shaded by large oaks and other hardwood trees. The park offers picnicking, a view of Old Tampa Bay along 1 mile of shoreline, a boat launching facility, fishing, and play areas

Always a great place for a picnic. I'm a Sunday Child, 1/16th Irish, & it's driving distance. My soulmate better show up or else...I'll have to spend another 5 years on POF! :) Great expectations. Nah, I like everyone. Weird that way. GRIN.

Lenny, would be fantastic to see you again. We always have fun at these picnics, and last time we had one (back in November) we were asked when we were going to do it again. Well, the weather has been nice and not too hot, so we thought, it would be a great time.

This is a family park with, I believe, playground equipment elsewhere in the park. However, as Wayne said, this function will mainly be adults and as such, not sure about the language and antics that will be going on.

I will start a list of who is bringing what a little bit closer to the time of the picnic. If anyone has any lawn games to bring, they will be welcome.

Welcome to all the signups. If you are new or shy, let me assure you.....this group is very friendly and many leave having made a new friend or two. Just let me know if you will be needing introductions

Maddie, not difficult to make new friends with the crowd we get at these events. It is one of the reasons I continue to host events as I love seeing people get together and having fun. I know how scary it is to come to these things alone and not knowing anyone. It was because of many of POF'ers opening their arms and hearts to me that I now have made many special friends. Will you meet the love of your life? It is possible, no guarantees, but you should make new friends.

Is it too early to start with.......WE NEED MORE MEN????

Ok, I got 2 MEN recruited, 1's planning on coming from work in Pinellas (after 4). I won't clamor 4 more women, as I only need 1...LOL, might even bring 1 for others 2 meet. This year I'd like to get there early enough to help w/set-up, and tear-down (if I can stay till end).

Lenny, any help is always appreciated. People are ALWAYS welcome to invite and bring friends with them. The more the merrier!!

Wayne will once again, be playing GREAT dance music, so if you have any requests, get them to him. We had quite a few up and dancing last time!! It is really fantastic and appreciated that he brings all his equipment with him to set up and play for us.

Diane, here's a little ditty men still on the fence can hum to motivate them: (To the tune of Bonanza)
"I've got a flair for women everywhere, Sha-ZamZa!
I'm not afraid of any pretty maid, Sha-ZamZa!
When I kiss a pretty little miss, she gets a lot from me!"
(LOL, I must be that one-in-a-million that still has an original 45rpm of Lorne Greene doing the theme)

All-right, Maddie! We're 2 in x-thousand! But it sure wasn't Ringo Starr on that flip-side of that 45rpm, was it?

Ringo on the other side of Bonanza???? That would be different lol

Ok now we have 24 women and 18 men so it won't hurt to say again.......WE NEED MORE MEN lol

I sure hope the weather will be nice like it has the other two times, we have a very nice and large shelter flose to a horse shoe pit and restrooms. Water is not far away so there will be a breeze and historical stuff in the park you can walk to (if interested). I am really looking forward to seeing everyone again and having fun.

Welcome to all the new signups!!
