Notice: Forums will be shutdown by June 2019

To focus on better serving our members, we've decided to shut down the POF forums.

While regular posting is now disabled, you can continue to view all threads until the end of June 2019. Event Hosts can still create and promote events while we work on a new and improved event creation service for you.

Thank you!

I have not been able to connect to the website except the forums since yesterday. Anyone know what is going on? I have tried 2 different computers and different browsers, nothing but I did get an email that I have a message.

I have the same problem... It must be my IP Address because I can log into other people's computers to use POF.

It is not necessarily your ip address it may be your location and path to the site. There are many routers you go through to get to a web site your path could be blocked somewhere.

brownie get this one---since last night I can only get on the dating side of POF via a Dell laptop w/windows vista I own....my mac desktop will let me into the forums but nothing else, I get a message from opendns that the "administrator"(whoever that is) has blocked POF so out of curiosity I tried to open Match.com's home page for an experiment, got the same message-Blocked. Why would one computer be blocked but not the other one?....weird.

I wonder if any of the tech savvy folks on here can point me to an answer.

weather you asked why something wasn't working through opendns which I assume is a service employed by your company to filter net traffic. There are a few different ways those services can work. I am thinking your company configures the browsers proxy settings to use the service as a proxy. So another browser would be configured to not use the proxy and it would not filter out the content. Those services parse the pages to determine they are dating sites and block access based on their categorical membership and blocking all sites identified as dating sites.

Now they could just be working on the proxy settings on the macs. I am a windows guy as far as operating systems go don't know much about how domain policies would be deployed to macs within a domain ... but this could be the difference as these proxy settings can be deployed to windows clients throughout the entire domain from domain controllers using group policy. Those settings would not translate to macs though and they would have to be configured at the machine level.

Just some thoughts. I would really need to know a lot more about where you are and how their network was set up to give you any definitive answers. My point here being there are logical ways to explain the behavior you are experiencing. I can think of other explanations too but there is no value in typing out everything I can think up we would be here a long time!

As of 4/23/19 POF is unavailable likely due to all ready the SPAM and porn on it.
