POF site moved.. to France? Page 1 of 1
Something weird has been happening lately, over the last 2-3 days, all requests to pof.com and plentyoffish.com (except forums.plentyoffish.com, oddly), redirect to pof.fr, and the site is all in French. Using Chrome, I can translate it (roughly), but it's still not 100%.

Is this something new? Moving POF offshore for some reason? Or is this more malicious, DNS poisoning attack to snarf passwords and credentials?

75 post reads, but 0 replies?

It's still redirecting, and I'm in the USA. Anyone know what's going on?

There is another person posting about the same thing in the Technology/Computers forum…
http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts16273290.aspx
His location is listed as Hartford CT. Your location is listed as East Lyme, CT.

It is likely an issue with your ISP since there are only 2 complaints so far and both from Connecticut.

You may want to check out his post and see if you are using the same ISP.

Indeed we are (AT&T), so I wonder if they're using a mixed up proxy in the middle, but it's clearly doing some 301 redirection at the HTTP layer itself, so even if DNS was wrong, it's the remote site's (pof.com) response that is pushing us to pof.fr.

If pof.com sees our client IP as being in France, it may try to be smart and redirect us to the French version of the site, but I can't see how AT&T can modify how pof.com responds to requests for content.

The pof staff rarely come into the forums.

Email them at csr@pof.com.

I would imagine POF does the 301 redirection based on your originating IP address.
For some reason it thinks your IP is based in France, so it's redirecting to the French site. Maybe a problem with rDNS?
Just a guess.

in order to try to narrow down the cause of this...
other people having this problem what are you using for both ISP and DNS servers?

i am using at&t ISP
dns is
primary = 99.99.99.53
secondary = 99.99.99.153

is this the same as other people having this problem?

ya same thing for me. clicking on links from emails goes ok, but not usually if i type the address or use a favorites. it seems to be bad more often in the afternoon and night than in the morning.

from a command prompt typing "nslookup www.pof.com" and typing "nslookup www.pof.fr"
i get this...

Server: dns6rd1.sbcglobal.net
Address: 99.99.99.53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: www.pof.fr
Address: 199.182.216.166

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: pof.com

Aliases: www.pof.com

question for bigfish, is the ip address for www.pof.com and www.pof.fr supposed to be the same or different addresses?
