Valentine's Day is just around the corner. Does anyone have plans? I will be passing out candy to the patients at the nursing home. My Dogs and I have Valentine's Day Outfits.

I love Valentine's Day with the colors pink, red, and white. I love the little conversation hearts. If you could print anything on your conversation heart what would it say? Mine would say, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.

Valentines day makes me feel squishy inside. I love the color pink...hearts, jewellery, ribbons, roses

I like it as romantic as possible. I will dress to the nines...sexy dress, heels, etc. and let my guy anticipate his treat at the end of the evening.

It's also fun now that I have two granddaughters. We fill heart shaped moulds with water, seeds, nuts, etc...put them in the freezer and then hang them out for the birds and squirrels. We will bake some cupcakes with pink frosting and sprinkles they can give to their parents..

First, however, comes Groundhog day. I have a puppet that sort of is a groundhog (might be a beaver). He's been in the family since my daughters were little. He grabs their toes...then we pretend to feed him carrots.

Congrats on taking your dog for outside visits. Our patients just beam from ear to ear. So many elderly people miss their pets...they were like family members. Over and over we see patients with little expression suddenly come to life when touching a dog. It often gets them talking about their childhood pet, etc. A hundred memories they want to share.

Also, my staff love it! It's just fun to have positive activity on the ward. Everyone's day is brightened!

Valentine's Day happens to be my parent's wedding anniversary. My Mom is alive, my dad passed 8 years ago. They were married a long time.

I recall as a little girl, every year on Valentine's Day, my dad getting a BIG heart shaped box of chocolates for my mom & 2 smaller boxes, one for me & one for my sister.

My oldest son who is now 30 was conceived on Valentines Day ;0)

My wedding anniversary is Feb. 4th & we now celebrate it again & will be going out for a nice dinner that night.

On Feb. 15th, Halloweenie Season (the old time forumites may recall what that is) is officially over, so many women will see more email in their inbox & it will go from a trickle to a flood.

PS- phrase on a heart candy...adopt a shelter animal 4 pure love!

I hate Valentines day. It is definately the worst holiday for me. I try not to visit anyone and refuse to go out except to work. I don't want to see lovey dovey couples, because it is incredibly painful to watch. I hate it. I also remember the last woman I was with, and the look on her face when she walked away. I hate that day so much.

It really is just another day.
Thanks for the reminder to pick-up something nice for my girlfriend.
My guess is that I will get her a couple hours of spa massage as a gift.
She enjoys that kind of stuff and feels like a million bucks afterwards.

Yes, I plan to do so in a pink, red, and white getup. But in an Austin Powers sorta way with a lot of flare.

* = An assortment of conversation hearts with common male and female names. In conversation throughout the night, you get names of their daughters, sisters, sons, friends, etc. Male names just to throw for a loop in case any female ones don't match up. Doubles the chances.

Never had a gf on V day.

A proper V day would include a box of chocolates, a dozen roses, a bottle of Dom Perignon and a foot massage.

That being said, I would definitely have high expectations afterwards.

V day for the 3rd date sounds like a winning ticket.

Need to find me a date for February 12th asap!

The young girls all happy to get a box of stale over priced chocos and sharing a heart shaped pizza
The people grabbing over priced cards
Feeling of knowing people still believe in Love. Maybe not the Santa ( gasp) but hoping there is a happy ever after
Listening to songs from Valentine Days past
Knowing if I find the exact right shade of red lipstick the day will be that much better
sending filthy cards to my friends
Saying happy VD to people :)
Worse things we can do than hope the faith true love awaits us all
Or the light at the the end of the tunnel is a runaway train, but hey! Candy

Excellent...Valentines this year is on a Saturday. We'll go for a hike in the mountains, have a fire/picnic including a glass of wine and some fancy dessert for her (I don't like sweet things). Then go to one of the Meet Up dances that evening. Either rock or salsa. Yay! It's an easy one when it's Saturday.

I always make a Valentine's day card. More fun and intimate than a bought one. Then off to the dollar store for a few silly things for her. As for something nice. Shoes. She always wants shoes so we'll go together so she can pick out a pair. Last but not least, I always get her a candy necklace.

Yes, good call -- limit it to A glass of wine. You don't want to be calling her by the wrong name, or vice versa. It's a special day. Otherwise you'd be going out on a Pick-a-Nick all the time if it was so enjoyable.

I think usually the last thing, to put icing on the cake for V-Day, is not a candy necklace, but a "pearl-necklace" instead, but that's just me. ;)

My bday is near vday
I can count on one hand only memories of a happy bday or vday. One hand.. ......less than 5 occasions.
Let me think on it; A childhood bday party, 19th and 35th bday, vday 1994 with a navy man **ohhh, I need a little more time thinking of that one.. .'kay, I'm back* and flowers/chocolates from my former foster son two years ago. Yup... 5
To give you perspective, I was in a 4 year and 7 year marriage and a 2 year engagement with aholes and bfs in between that always seem to be dumped long BEFORE b or v day starts.

I usually buy chocolate and share them with my boys since you know.. they are truly my first and only love...
and have leftover cake if there's any left. I've usually made the cake.
Which means I get fat for my bday/vday.

My biggest failing as a parent is that I laughed too much. My daughter is so funny and quick with witty comeback, I couldn't help laughing. Even when I needed to be all serious and stern, I had trouble keeping a straight face. Cripes, all I did was encourage her.

Years ago I bought a beautiful Valentine's Day card with a red heart for my boyfriend. How romantic. The joke is, I still have it. He was gone before the big day.

On Valentine's Day if I could have a small, portable city wall- lined with archers- I would. I feel a bit cross on Valentine's Day alone.

Fleetwood Mac in concert will be part of our early Valentine's Day celebration.
This will be the second time she and I have seen them together.
We are just lucky it doesn't fall on the actual holiday. That will make a pre-concert dinner a bit easier.
