Thx Bama

At 424 Plant looks like he's thinking " I wish I could still hit those notes "

But by 455 he's clearly moved by the performance - so cool !

Divinebeing- You're welcome.
It's hard to say what I enjoyed more, seeing the look on their faces as she sings, her singing or the fact that was John Bonhams son playing drums. :)

Yeah, if you listen to the "Stairway Heaven" clip from the 2007 Zeppelin reunion show in London, they are tuned down a whole step.

I know it's probably not a big deal to most, but after hearing the original, which is considered arguably "the greatest rock song all of time" for so many years in standard tuning, it's just weird hearing it in G minor for me.

In a somewhat related video, here's country singer, Gretchen Wilson doing an amazing job on Heart's "Barricuda" with Alice in Chains. This is just f*cking hot. It's very rare to hear a cover of this song that does the original any justice, but she hit it out of the proverbial park.

Not bad, but she didn't quite hit that note at 139, just sayin - and I think Nancy agreed by the look on her face , like she was thinkin " nice try kid "

What was with the slow tempo of the song ? Ruined it for me.

Best version other than Ann was a singer from a band called The Pursuit of Happiness back in the early 90s

She did pretty well for a country singer. Sidenote, I have a bud that used to tour with Alice n Chains, he was their LSD supplier. lmfao.

She did splat a bit on that note, but yes, for a country singer, it was impressive. "Barricuda" is a tough song. The melodies are all over the place as far as intervals go.

She's hot, too.

Peas- Heart's genre is hard rock, not country.
They are a group that is open to other types of music, like country, but they are hard rock.
Sorry, but I have to question anyone that would describe Ann Wilson as "doing pretty well". This woman can sing, no two ways about it.
She didn't wind up on that stage, paying tribute to Led Zeppelin, by accident.
She is, imo, one of the greatest female singers, of all time.

Hi bama,

Yes, she can sing, just because one note was a little shakey didn't mean she pretty much nailed the song.

The country remark? I really have never cared for any women singers. Especially Heart. I just don't like women singers. I don't know why.

Has anybody mentioned the death of YES, Chris Squire? He will be missed. RIP. This is a great article:

Peas
...are you referring to Gretchen Wilson the country singer or Ann Wilson of Heart as "pretty well for a country singer?

I think the bama got confused which you are referring too lol.
Put Gretchen and Ann together and sing a song. THAT would be worthy.
And I think Piggy would be in music heaven lol

I know this is a Zeppelin thread, but I can't believe no one mentioned Chris Squire dying.

Is that the guy who had that hit in the early 80's " The Stroke " and whose career did a nose dive after his " Take me in your arms " video ?

WitnessToMyThoughts...that is hilarious!
Certainly a tragic mid-1980s "stylistic turn" to his music.
You had me howling with laughter with that one.

haha, you mean the "Rock Me Tonight" video that looked like something from the "Flashdance" movie?

That was some horrible shit indeed. It deserved to tank for being such a shitty video, but for also having the intro that was a complete ripoff of Foreigner's "Cold As Ice", but in a different key. (A minor)

If you're too dumb to know the difference between Billy Squire and Chris Squire, I suggest sticking to the Beyonce threads and leave the good music to those who can appreciate it.

I hope so. Billy Squire was a putz. Chris Squire was a groundbreaker. Who else (besides John Entwistle) played a bass guitar like it was a lead guitar? Well, sometimes Greg Lake, but Keith Emerson was really the focal point of that band.

Speaking of dumb :

Yes STILL hasn't been inducted into the R and R Hall of Fame AND doesn't have one single album listed on the Rolling Stone top 5oo albums .

WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE WHO MAKE THESE DECISIONS ?????

They're not really fond of Prog, except for Pink Floyd. It's kinda like the Baseball HoF; I think they're purposely overlooking those who used performance-enhancing drugs. :oD
