15,000 government emails revealed in Ashley Madison leak

Thousands of clients using the affair-oriented Ashley Madison website listed email addresses registered to the White House, top federal agencies and military branches, a data dump by hackers revealed.

The detailed data, released Tuesday, will likely put Washington, D.C., on edge. The nation’s capital reportedly has the highest rate of membership for the site of any city.

Indeed, more than 15,000 of the email addresses used to register accounts were hosted on government and military servers.

Buried in the list are emails that could be tied to multiple administration agencies, including the State Department and Department of Homeland Security, as well as several tied to both the House and Senate.

******************************

Other tech news outlets, such as CSO, have discovered British government officials, United Nations employees and Vatican staff among the millions of people in the leaked database.

However, the site reportedly did not check the validity of email addresses, and it’s likely that many of the government email accounts were faked. For instance, several emails were registered at “whitehouse.gov,” whereas White House officials use “eop.gov” for email communications.

The hackers have indicated their mission is to publicly shame the company, while also teaching its users a lesson.

“Find yourself in here?” they said in a statement posted with the data dump. "It was [Avid Life Media] that failed you and lied to you. Prosecute them and claim damages. Then move on with your life. Learn your lesson and make amends. Embarrassing now, but you’ll get over it."

I have no sympathy for men or women who play around like this. I could care less what political party they are affiliated with ... this should be fun!

Oh no ... Biala ... someone took your "woody"?

Wouldn't it be funny to eventually find a candidate for president?

LG ... "I do declare son, what a wonderful specimen you are ...!"
CC ... "Shut up and sit down so I can go down on you ...!"
JK ... "Turn that fan off ... I can't stand to see fan blades turning ...!"
RP ... "OOPS ... can I get another chance ...?"
JB ... "But my brother said it would be okay ... I thought 'brother knows best' ...!"
RS ... "I'll bring my 'Etch-A-Sketch' - that way if you don't like what I do the first time, we can 'shake it' and try again ...!"
TC ... "I'll read you a bedtime story while you stroke it ...!"

To the post below ...
It's my understanding that it was represented to those who signed up that it was there to offer them a chance at having an affair.

The whole "affair" thing was an ad routine.
So what? They answered the ad with the idea they were signing up for an affair ... WTH?

So I DO have sympathy for the innocent people who might get caught up in this self-righteous crap.
I have no sympathy for people who knowingly seek an extra-marital affair.

Hey! I was signed up on that site. I signed up on every site I could for a while there. I not only didn't sign up to any site while I thought I was married (i.e. until after my wife announced I was going to get a call from a lawyer), I have a vindictive hatred of cheaters. But I wanted to learn, and wanted especially to see who signed up for multiple sites and why.

It was so boring and there were so few people on there of any interest, I long ago forgot my login. But I suppose I might be among the listed members.

And since I learned by being on there, that only about half of the membership indicated that they were there to have affairs. The whole "affair" thing was an ad routine. So I DO have sympathy for the innocent people who might get caught up in this self-righteous crap.

Wow ... what a nice guy.

Apparently his sisters weren't "juicy" enough for him ... he's got to get still more on the side?

I simply cannot imagine what the appeal on that site would be? If a person is not satisfied with the person they love, why stay?

Why stay in a relationship that no longer interests you at an intimate level?

Of course, then there's the disease aspect of it as well ... that's just disgusting.

No wonder STD's are at a record level these days.

I guess the need for sexual satisfaction is larger than just about anything moral.

They are greedy cowards. Can't face the embarrassment and stress of divorce, don't want to let go of half their toys or sell the house and don't want to let go of the friendship aspect of the relationship. It's easier for a coward to screw someone else's wife or husband than do the right thing and get single.

Ashley Madison client list includes Louisiana GOP executive director; he says it was for research
By Kevin Litten, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
on August 20, 2015 at 3:30 PM, updated August 20, 2015 at 4:31 PM

Louisiana GOP executive director Jason Doré said Thursday that his name is on a list of accounts released as part of the Ashley Madison cheating website hack because the site was used for "opposition research."...

...The Louisiana GOP has been outspoken about issues connected to infidelity in the past, having asked former U.S. Rep. Vance McAllister to resign his 5th District congressional seat last year after he was caught on camera kissing a married staffer.

Josh Duggar after Ashley Madison hack: 'I have been the biggest hypocrite ever'
By Dana Ford, CNN
Updated 9:26 PM ET, Thu August 20, 2015

"I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife," Duggar said in a statement Thursday.

Father who 'surprised' his wife with news she was pregnant then announced she had suffered a miscarriage 'was a paying user of Ashley Madison'
By Mia De Graaf For Dailymail.com
Published: 18:31 GMT, 21 August 2015 | Updated: 22:00 GMT, 21 August 2015

Sam Rader, one half of the Christian vlogging couple whose alleged miscarriage video went viral this month, was listed as a paying subscriber to Ashley Madison, according to stolen data shared online by hackers.

A user, who appears to be the 29-year-old father-of-two, allegedly made two $189 payments to the infidelity service in September 2013, the same month his second child was born and he celebrated four years of marriage with his viral star wife Nia, 26.

http://hoh.rollcall.com/team-cruz-capitol-police-pop-up-in-ashley-madison-data-dump/
Personal information gathered from a cyber assault on online-fling facilitator Ashley Madison has now hit the Web, and a handful of Capitol Hill accounts appear to have been laid bare.

***************
Approximately 15,000 of those appear to sport the “.mil” or “.gov” designation assigned to the armed forces and federal agencies, respectively.
It will be interesting to see how many higher up military personnel are listed ... so sad.

Impact Team has not divulged the names associated with the pilfered hook-up records, but a data-driven social media user combed through the information and compiled the most common occurrences.

Among those purportedly seeking relations away from their spouses are emails associated with:

The office of GOP presidential hopeful Ted Cruz, R-Texas.
The Capitol Police.
Seven folks with ties to House offices.
Nearly four dozen people who punch timecards at the White House.

Sans a deep dive into the dark web to parse the full batch of raw data released for public scrutiny, HOH has no sure way of knowing which of our friends, neighbors and/or colleagues were looking to get their freak on away from prying eyes.

A Cruz aide assured HOH that nary a soul in that office is surreptitiously on the prowl.

“The email address in question is press@cruz.senate.gov, a publicly and widely available forwarding address that is often entered into web contact forms by people with no connection to our office,” Team Cruz said of the generic mailbox.
Uh huh ... of course not.

No one from the Capitol Police or Senate Sergeant-at-Arms responded to queries concerning particularly lustful aides.
I mean ... who wants to admit they know anything about this ... unless they have specific names?

The Ashley Madison Hack Is a Peephole Into “Traditional” Christian Marriage
By Amanda Marcotte
Aug. 24 2015 1:11 PM

When Christian conservatives talk about “traditional” marriage, they often don't just mean a man-woman marriage, but one in which each spouse has different and supposedly complementary roles. “Male and female were created by God as equal in dignity, value, essence and human nature,” explains the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, “but also distinct in role whereby the male was given the responsibility of loving authority over the female, and the female was to offer willing, glad-hearted and submissive assistance to the man.” In exchange for the wives' submission, husbands take responsibility as moral leaders who look out for and protect their wives, a role commonly called “headship” in Christian-right circles...

Government workers cope with fallout from Ashley Madison hack ...
http://money.cnn.com/2015/08/22/technology/ashley-madison-hack-government-workers/
Excerpts
... outed some 32 million users, including some 15,000 email addresses from government and military accounts, indicated by .gov and .mil domains.

... government officials ... used personal email addresses like Gmail. At least one used a prepaid credit card for multiple transactions.

... could be identified by I.P. addresses, which were linked to government agencies.
... Ashley Madison was accessed over 50 times by more than a dozen users within the Department of Justice's firewall, dating back to 2011.

... accessed the site from the Department of Homeland Security.

It's possible that not all worked for those agencies -- they could have been guests visiting those agencies, for example.

... CNNMoney has identified multiple Assistant U.S. Attorneys among the site's users, along with an IT specialist for the Department of Homeland Security, a trial attorney for the Department of Justice, and other government workers with sensitive positions.

... DOJ attorney said that this was not the first time his data was breached -- his credit card information was stolen earlier this year when the Office of Personnel Management was hacked.

He says he expects ramifications for visiting Ashley Madison, which he regrets.

"I have a solid reputation and I'd like to avoid being the butt of jokes," he told CNNMoney.
Sounds like he is indeed a "butt" ... actually a butt-hole for visiting Ashley Madison ... which he regrets though. I bet he does now!

Military members could face consequences: Adultery is against the Code of Conduct for members of the armed forces. CNNMoney could not independently confirm the legitimacy of the thousands of military email addresses leaked as part of the hack, but Defense Secretary Ash Carter has said the Pentagon is investigating.

"Of course it's an issue because conduct is very important," Carter said. "The services are looking into it and as well they should be -- absolutely."

'The Ashley Madison hack ruined my life' ...
http://money.cnn.com/2015/08/21/technology/ashley-madison-ruined-lives/index.html?iid=ob_article_footer&iid=obinsite
The Ashley Madison hack is indeed ripping apart marriages.

It's exposing affairs, confirming suspicions, and keeping cheaters up at night in cold sweats.

Several people who were directly affected by the data breach of the cheating website AshleyMadison.com have reached out to CNNMoney. Their identities and details have been independently verified, but they have spoken on condition of anonymity.

The mistress
"Ana" is a highly educated business woman in her 40s who is finalizing a divorce with her husband.

She stayed up late Thursday rapidly texting eight married men with whom she had relationships after finding them on Ashley Madison.

She said the men are all worried their wives will use search tools now available online to find the email addresses they used to sign up for the cheating site.

Meanwhile, Ana is concerned about her job in finance. Her clients are couples and small businesses. These are highly personal relationships. If they plug in her email address into any of the available Ashley Madison searches, she'll be exposed. And maybe even fired.

"I would lose business, contracts... I'm not even sure if my contract with my employer has a morality clause," she told CNNMoney on Friday. "It could be very damaging."
Oh well ... too bad. She could have done what a lot of us do ... don't start anything with anyone else until you're actually truly divorced. Gee .. what a concept.

I purposely did not want a "new" relationship until after the divorce. Why complicate something that's already highly sensitive and emotional?

Ana claims to have had more than 50 encounters -- everything ranging from "a benign flirtatious lunch" to "three days in a hotel room and ordering room service." To her, Ashley Madison was a playground.

"Honey, I devoured them," she said.
What a nice thing to say ... now maybe her own actions will devour her? She'll get no sympathy from me. She deserves what she gets.

The wife of a cheater
"Kimberly" is a neuro-physiologist in Richmond, Virginia, who travels a lot on business. She was stuck on a grounded flight Thursday night when she came across a news story about the Ashley Madison hack on her smartphone.

She and her husband had been having marital issues lately, and she figured she'd plug his personal email address into a search tool.

It was a match, and she immediately called him. Here's how she remembers the conversation: "What do you know about this website, Ashley Madison?" she asked.

"I read a little about how they had a hack," he responded.

"Well, I searched your email, and it came up."

That's when he admitted he was a user on the site, though he kept changing his story.

"I don't know the whole story yet," Kimberly told CNNMoney. "I'm done. Even if it's just him getting on there looking. I don't trust him."

Kimberly is now at her parents' place while her husband packs up his things and finds an apartment.
Sounds right to me. Again, I have no sympathy for such cheaters.

Does that mean you also have no sympathy for the families and friends of the people who have reportedly committed suicide as a result of the Impact Team's irresponsible data dump?

What if it is found that the Impact Team are a bunch of extreme religious nutters? That would mean you are a supporter! What a juxtaposition ! Oh, what if they are Zionists?
Fancy that the resident Jew hater supporting Jews!

Anyway I have little time for cheaters either, however just because people registered at that site doesn't mean they all cheated, it just proves they thought about it. Which is well Human nature.

I wonder if members of the Impact Team are backslapping each other now? But hey for nutters like you, it all "sounded like fun" eh?

Oh rob, rob rob ... still at I see ...

... irresponsible data dump?
Why is it judged (of all people, by the likes of you) "irresponsible"? LMFAO ... a scum bag like you is concerned about having sympathy for anyone or anything?

Well ... I WOULD feel sorry that the families and friends might be associated with such low life cheaters ... and while it's unfortunate, in the end, there is no guarantee that if the family had found out (by accident) that the person would not have done the same. Sad? Yes. But at least now the families and friends are free to move on ... WITHOUT the cheater.

Fancy that the resident Jew hater supporting Jews!
Jew hater? When did I become that? Oh I know ... it was shortly after I finished working out with them and then hanging out at the local Jewish Center pool? Oh, oh ... nope. It was right after I left rehearsal (at the Jewish Center) with them? (We're about to put on the fall musical ... it will be wonderful and I'm one of the featured singers.) No wait, right after I walked out the door after just having filled their medication planners and administering their insulin?

Imagine that ... your timing is perfect!! I just got my annual review and it looks good ... REALLY good. In most categories I have exceeded the agency's expectations and that (of course) is also based on how the patients feel about the way I care for them. Go figure. My Jewish patients just love me. (That really burns your a$$ doesn't it?)

Anyways, back to the other stuff you wrote ...
... just because people registered at that site ...
Tell us, how much did you pay to be on the site? Don't want to tell us? That's okay ... we could ask one of our resident posters how much it costs to join. I believe Igor admitted to being on the site ... way back when.

It's already been established that it costs $20.00 extra to get a guarantee that when you quit, they expunge your records ... but we now know that didn't really happen. Did they make off with your $20.00 too?

Well, well, well ... how appropriate. The CEO of AshleyMadison.com and it's parent company just stepped down. Folks ... this is the guy who founded the "infidelity site". So no doubt he earned his title ... "King of Infidelity". Looks like he just lost his crown? (Gee what a pity.)

Watch the throne.
by Emily Jane Fox

In a move that seemed inevitable in the midst of a massive hacking scandal at Ashley Madison, its parent company, Avid Life Media, said Friday that C.E.O. Noel Biderman is no longer heading the infidelity-enabling Web site.

Avid Life, which owns online dating sites ashleymadison.com, establishedmen.com, and cougarlife.com, said in a statement that Biderman stepped down “in mutual agreement with the company” and it will be led by the existing senior management team until it appoints a new chief executive.

“This change is in the best interest of the company and allows us to continue to provide support to our members and dedicated employees. We are steadfast in our commitment to our customer base,” the statement read.

Biderman’s exit comes a little more than a week after a group calling itself the Impact Team dumped a huge amount of personal data from the company’s users, including names, addresses, phone numbers, credit-card numbers, and transactional details supposedly attached to Ashley Madison user accounts. The hackers first revealed they had stolen the data last month.

The data release ignited a media firestorm and a wave of panic in the nearly 40 million users whose personal information could be mined by anyone able to search through the database. Since last week, at least one billionaire, several reality television stars, and even residents of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue have had their names in the news for being attached to accounts both real and fake.

Through it all, the company has maintained that it is cooperating with authorities to investigate the breach, even offering a $379,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the Impact Team.

Biderman, affectionately known as the “King of Infidelity,” founded ashleymadison.com in 2001, which was acquired by Avid Life. He was appointed president of the company in 2007. There's no word yet on who is heir to the marital-indiscretion throne.

Analysis of the data hacked show that of the 37 million accounts, only 12,000 were real women, 68,000 were fake female profiles probably generated by the site operators, and only a relative few accounts were active.

Be nice to know the actual statistics of other sites. My experience on POF is that only a small number of accounts are in current use, and that many who created accounts years ago just don't bother to close them down. Makes me wonder what the real value of the site is in business terms.

I also find it spectacular that millions of men actually pay up to interact with a hopelessly small number of real women. What a brilliant fraud!

I suppose that the god news is that, in general, women don't appear to have much interest in cheating, or if they do, they don't make use of web sites to find hookups.

Men, on the other hand, are scumbags......:)
