Artists seeking love online...Page 1 of 2    (1, 2)
As an artist, I seem to fail miserably here... the online dating thing seems to be more a "marketing" thing, the pure antithesis of art.

Anyone else feel this way? I thought I'd find some like mined women on here, but nothing's to be found. Oh well...

Its because you aren't seeking someone like minded. Your seeking a hot chick who will pretend with you that she is looking for "like minded people". If the hot chicks aren't messaging you back, go out with an actually like minded person who isn't as photogenic.

Umm... sure. ¯\(°_°)/¯ I guess if you say so.

I:

- Make decent money in the career of my choice.
- Admire committed relationships.
- Can form my own opinions, my own art, and my own music.
- Have a future without baggage that drags me down.

You win. Enjoy. :-D

My children are to my love, as my heart is to the universe. You aren't going to find a love like that on POF. Have a happy new year. I'm done.

I don't get what your love for your children has to do with a dating site?! I'm here to meet a compatriot of my own, not to find love for someone else's children. You already have that. Why be here? Why hassle me?

What if you meet a like-minded woman that also lies about her age? Do you know that you can set age range criteria in your Mail Settings?

I would find the inaccurate age thing (32 y.o. v 38 y.o.) to be a turn-off if I was in your demographic.
Make everything truthful and make decisions about whom to date as they present themselves. That's my $0.02.
One would think artists / musicians would feel the same way as the general public.

I can't disagree with you in the least... but like I said, if I put 38 all I get are 45 year old, obese, townie moms (often conservative and/or Christian). I don't know what's wrong with the matching system but it's not presenting me to the right women. I've tried to fill in my details the best I can, but my matches continue to be whack.

A lot of people in general have this view that musicians are 95 % of the time financially broke with the few exceptions..
If you were to say you were a Lawyer / Doctor or something you can bet your luck would change dramatically !!!!

Ummm... I'm not a musician for a living. It doesn't say that anywhere. I'm an industrial designer which is a pretty well paying profession. It's an applied art, science, manufacturing, and user experience career. It's what tuned Apple from unwieldy, beige computer boxes into a desirable and intuitive consumer product experiences.

I generally gel with other creative types or those who appreciate our contributions. That could be art directors pulling down well over six figures, or just women who like music, film, culinary arts, or whatever on the side.

I don't think marketing is the antithesis of art, in fact a lot of the best marketing is done using various forms of art as a way to reach past people's defences.

Pretentious hipsters say that art is the anithesis of marketing..while doing their own marketing..Apple is mentioned, as if they are not masters of marketing, manipulating people's emotions to flog their products, to make owning Apple stuff seem cool..

No one in our family owns any Apple devices, for the reasons explained in the post above.

Apple is not good. Amiga was good. I won't use apple simply for the reason that they use special screws to prevent people from fixing their own laptops.

Ys I dislike Apple..too arrogant, everything is proprietary, not more "universal" as with most other computr makers..e.g, they refuse to have USB ports on most products.

virtually everbody markets..only some people market an image of themselves as artistic, rebellious, anti-marketing, non-mainstream, an antithesis, etc..etc..

Well the way you've responded to someone else's posts would immediately put me off messaging you. If that's how you talk to people, you're probably not going to get many replies.

^^^^^ The poster above you wasted her time responding to somebody who's been gone since early 2016. I can agree with her too.

I'm a visual artist and I feel the same way. It's very difficult to meet artists in general and on the dating sites almost impossible. At least in my area of upstate NY. I love my art -- it's my life but I'm kinda down lately. It's so difficult not having anyone to share ideas with and keep the energy going. I would say the majority of men's profiles list interests that I do not share. Fishing, Riding their motorcycle, sports, camping. So disheartening. I so wish to have someone to share my life with. I can't cuddle with my charcoal sticks and I have spent many years reading about and studying my craft. I am grateful and blessed, but I would like some company someday.
