Not really. I tried to post a thread a few times and couldn't. Prolly it's something similar to the 2/10 bullshite thing. You know, trudy automatic moderation or something.

Such a brilliant book and a shame Heller could only do it the once or at least anything else I read by him just couldn't stack up against Catch 22.

I don't know.'
It doesn't make sense. It isn't even good grammar.”

Catch 22 is my fav book... n that quote seemed most apt!

It's a bloke thing though isn't it? I have never met a female who has read Catch 22 never mind understood it. Maybe we blokes live in a different more absurd world?

I liked the way every chapter was a seperate vignette... so cleverly done.

The film did well, but lost a lot by writing the stories all in to one. The screenplay must have taken an age to write.

psst.... I'm a proud owner of a first edition copy.

I read it when I was younger, really enjoyed it and found it thought provoking. I must read it again. I think I read it when I was about 16 or 17. When I was younger My Da read 5 books per week, had various magazine subscriptions and read four different newspapers every day.....and he always told me "never believe anything you read". Because he read so much and my four older brothers were the same although their reading material might have been different there were always books around to pick up and read and I basically read anything going.

I find it so strange that people feel proud of themselves for reading a book/s. Never understood why that should be the case frankly.

Bookreading broadens your horizons. Not difficult to understand. Being educated and in possession of informed opinions is definitely something to be proud of.

First editions of noteworthy books are always valuable.

There is an old Irish adage....
"You're never hungry if you have a good book"
It feeds the soul..... the Irish nurture writers and story tellers and many of our finest tomes came from that lush and verdant land.

Well, people dressing up as hobbits would not have happened was it not for Tolkien, but I guess there has to be a bad apple here n there....

As for feeling proud, where did that come from, PhD type? You must have read copious amounts as well as produce a thesis.
There is no mention of pride. You introduced that. Get a grip.

I've known plenty of people who don't read books. They're intelligent, happy and successful in life.

Oh blimey . It's as if people are just nattering on here to keep it bumped up, but they wouldn't do that, surely.

Catch 22 is a good book, I first read it too young and i didn't understand any of it but read it again as an adult and saw the nuances.

In any case, do we all realise that we are commenting on a thread which is not really a thread? All this just because I politely asked you to cooperate and vote delete. I must therefore conclude that, indeed, all of you are, in fact, TROLLS!
