And Where Would It Be Safe To LivePage 1 of 1
An advanced civilisation would have the means of getting to a part of the Universe that's as free as can be from asteroids, gamma- or x-ray bursts, competing civilisations, comets, meteoroids or other hazards. And wouldn't it decide that the best place for that would be in a situation that's as far as can be from clusters, galaxies, stars, planets or similar bodies? But there'd be no location, for that is where to find something: and such a civilisation would keep itself secret

TAKE ME TO THE SAFETY OF A ZONE REMOTE FROM STARS

Far-away from galaxies and nowhere near Mars

Well, they certainly wouldn't want to move to Detroit, that's for sure. Maybe that's why we haven't heard anyone knocking on our door. ;)

But there'd be no location, for that is where to find something: and such a civilisation would keep itself secret

Being "secret" to conscious beings is different than avoiding asteroid-filled zones near stars that are dangerous or potentially dangerous in the next 1 million years or whatnot, so I don't get the "such" part leading to that. But yeah, the best place would be away from the riff-raff, but it doesn't want to be as far away from planets as possible. It'd need a Place at least. And ideally it'd need a place that's providing energy and has advanced atoms beyond helium & hydrogen... and much of Our galaxy at least doesn't have so much (or is in volitale areas which wouldn't be worth it, more inside the galaxy).

To live to be safe -- depends on the capabilities of what living beings could do. With such advanced technology to make it worth it zoom across the galaxy (which is not necessarily likely) for a group of beings -- they'd certainly have the capability to not go so far off to have technology to zap away asteroids from a planet they're on. What they'd want to do is be where (maybe at home) the planet serves them well, not near a dangerous star in the not too distant future, and is peaceful. It wouldn't have to be on another side of a galaxy.

But I could see where it could go to more remote areas around harmless dwarf stars and build up shop... and with fusion and the like make their own more complex atoms and the like. IMO, in the future, we'll be sending bots, not people.... AI bots that are just as smart & creative as we are. And we will be augmented with improvements by such things, notably to live longer too and with genetic modification.

Thing is, where aliens may be "hiding" -- realize that they easily could have passed by already. Universe doesn't revolve around us. Most of it Should be quiet as heck. Time to us is So different than it actually is. To us, 100 years is Yuge -- where, no, it means practically Zero time in reality. We can't compare it to finding someone in a park. It'll take a LONG time to pick up on something or stumble upon it. Especially if most advancing civilizations that could be picked up, can fade away or not be trying to tell the Whole universe where they're at as their huge sole goal.

Would members of an advanced civilisation cluster together in a safe place? Though I have assumed that they would, I'm coming to think that it would be better-served by splitting into small – perhaps tribal, or even family, – units. Of course, each would be able to participate in such – by means of near-instantaneous communication. And robots would be sent out to fetch minerals etc. Now I think that I'd be willing to live somewhere alone, but with a bunch of nubile girls and a set of robots to look after us. Well, doesn't it make one wonder at how crowded seemingly empty reaches of the Universe may have come to be

That's more or less what things were supposed to be like on earth.

How did it go wrong?
