Mine is girls aloud.

Watched them from the popstars days, Ive been to see them live

Girls aloud probably don't think they are uncool btw, but their music is very different from anything else that I like musically

So, what kind of music does it for you that you wouldn't typically listen to

I really liked an 80s group called voice of the beehive as well (again, not typical of my general music tastes).

I like INXS a 1980s Australian rock ban, Chris issak, Billy Idol and many, many, many more from the 1980s...

You can't beat the 1980s for catchy one hit wonders such as:

Rick Astley - Never gonna give you up - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ
Sinead o'connor - nothing compares to you - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-EF60neguk
cris de bourg - lady in red - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt2YIpZWBqA
a-ha - take on me - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djV11Xbc914
t'pau - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4sV3lqzKqQ
Irene Cara - What A Feeling - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beF4Ywct-Uo

And many more.....enough of the mushy music and here is something with a little more kick...

INXS - Need you tonight - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-rv2BQa2OU

and this is one hell of a song...
INXS - Mystify - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26ELh7P2ZtA

And for three of a kind -
INXS - Never tear us apart - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VU9DjQpvMQ

Ok one more...

INXS - Disappear - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xvo-bfaVsg0

I doubt the kids of today would, like understand or ever listen to some of the great tunes from the 1980s, because they are not used to listening to decent music with real words and real bands playing musical instruments

How can you forget "Disappear"!? I love that INXS track but I wouldn't say they were uncool. Hutchence was a god and I think I had a man crush going on.

my "uncool" likes would be Steps, Olly murs, backstreet boys and Chas and Dave.

I started off this evening in a fairly reasonable manner on youtube but it rapidly deteriorated into Barry White, Beejees, 'love is in the air', 'you'll never find another love like mine', 'can't take my eyes off you, Frankie Vallie , a stack of pretty terrible disco. On the way , listening to this old bunch of corn came across this flash mob which is very distinctly totally uncool but really made me smile.

I was born and raised in the Southeastern US. I grew up about 5 miles from where Earl Scruggs was born. ("Before Earl Scruggs, no one played banjo like him; after Earl Scruggs, everyone plays like him").

I love bluegrass. Heck, even my username is a bluegrass song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuVDBXZ9tbw (the radio station where this was recorded is about 20 miles from my hometown).

I'm afraid to put on bluegrass during a date. I don't want them jumping out of the car before I come to a complete stop.

Uncool music in the eyes of many youngsters and those same youngers are brought up on mostly poor reality music shows like the x factor and pop idol, where the contestants are picked on their looks, more than their musical talent and that is the reason, why all the old bands are making a killing in the market and selling out arena's cross the world, because they have something modern bands lack in and the words two words are "Musical Talent"

Make a list in your mind how many old bands are still touring and still very much in people's minds? What happens to the music industry, when all the great bands from the past get too old and can no longer tour? It begs the question about the future of music and musicians, because they can't go on stealing and covering famous songs by famous artists, because people will take note of it and insist that the original versions of the songs, can't be improved in any way, so music sales will plummet and music won't evolve

Don't be so sure. Right through the last half of the 20th century, singers and bands had been covering and retooling other people's work. Sinatra, Presley, The Beatles: all covered others' songs at some point and did well out of it.

What it does do is pique people's interest in other music rather than necessarily turn them off what they've just listened to, and broadens their musical horizons. I got into jazz during the 80s after listening to mainstream jazz funk, hard funk after mainstream disco, and Kraftwerk after electro bands. Didn't stop me listening to what had got me into those. Things go in cycles, like Kanye West sampling Daft Punk sampling Edwin Birdsong.
