New Years Eve 2017Page 1 of 2    (1, 2)
So,

I just thought I`d post this to kind of find out if any of you had special plans in place to see the new year in?

I know from past experience of seeing others seeing it in its an excuse to get totally intoxicated and try in vain to sing Auld Lang Syne at the stroke of midnight..

I`m contemplating the short 10 minite walk from my house to my local pub at about 10pm to get there for the last couple of hours...nothing spectacular but it`ll get me out and I`ll be amongst some of the locals I`ve got to know over the last few months since I moved here..

That’s a super idea Bryan, have a great time.
And all the best for 2018

I’ve had a real family-focused holiday period this year.

Very quiet one here.

Having a lovely roast meal with my sister, bro-in-law and their family later. And then that will be it.

Doubt I will even stay up to see the New Tear in. Elderly relative (who is a very close) is in hospital with pneumonia and lots of scrapes and bruises from a fall in his care home just over a week ago. So it's hospital visits every afternoon and none of us are in a festive mood this year.

Hope everyone who does have plans has a mint night.

Woe woe and thrice woe. Your humble writer here has the dreaded siberian death flu. Cannae even be arsed opening a bottle of beer.

Rat bairn phoned. The bairn and HER Clan are all poorly with the dreaded lurgy. So even going up there is out.

Usually my mate theophulos p wildebeest has a hogmanay party. But no this year.

So i shall sit and sulk. Watch Only An Excuse on telly. Wait till the bells and watch the fireworks from the hogmanay party up toon. Open a bottle of beer. Then swally my sleeping tablets and see what the morn brings.

Soooo...........

A guid New Year tae ane an aa,
An mony may ye see!
An durin aa the years tae come,
O happy may ye be!

An may ye ne’er hae cause tae murn,
Tae sigh or shed a tear!
Tae ane and aa, baith great and sma,
A happy, Guid New Year!

A guid New Year tae ane an aa,
An mony may ye see!
An durin aa the years tae come,
O happy may ye be!

Happy new year folks. Well my new year was very very quiet. My mates missus dropped off some home made spicy chicken thingys. As I'm the second auldest out of our wee mob i get the occasional food parcels dropped off. And sound spicy chicken thingys they were.

So i sat and watched some shows on the kodi thing. Then watched Scotland's music and fashion scene from teddy boys onwards. I didn't know the beatles were brought to Scotland to do four (i think) shows when they first started and no one went to the shows. The promoter geezer was talking about it last night.

Then Only An Excuse came on. It's a satire show about Scottish football.

Then the bbc hogmanay show. The bells came in. Phoned rat bairn. Aw the bairns were yodelling happy new year down the phone and like me they were watching the fireworks show.

The fireworks show was the best i have ever seen in Edinburgh. Lasted for around 8 mins.

Just had cheese and crackers and watching Oliver on the telly.

Have a boss day folks. And cheers Bryan

listened and watched a cracking local band for the first time. Good fun though Auld Lag Syne wqas screwed up as always.

Did a lot of people watching too. Very interesting seeing a group of apparently 2 couples, they seemed to be couples anyway but as the night went on it became obvious the women would have liked to be a bit freer!

My mate was desperately waiting for a stunner we know to turn up. I nearly my fell off my seat laughing when she introduced the bloke she'd brought along. His face went from happy to "going to kill this bloke" mode then back to absolute relief when she said is was her gay neighbour. He's got no chance anyway.

I had a good new year

Did nothing special but was with the best folks.

Got some bad news about a family friend.

He's got cancer and only found out last night that it's terminal.

Sorry for lowering the tone of the thread. Was just a major shock. One of the nicest people I've ever met in my life

i could probably have organised a shag had i wanted one... i do live in great yarmouth after all... and the alley at the back of argos is normally a good place for those in need, however this time of year its a bit chilly to take of ones knickers so i stayed home with a lidl's chicken korma instead.

i shall possibly consider a shag in spring... or maybe wait until summer - i rarely fancy a korma in summer so will have the availability. who knows though... lidl's have lush salads so a shag may not be on the menu after all...

lol at me... i meant aldi, not lidl's... no class eh..

Tut tut 10KY, at your age and no shag! Not even a sympathy one? You should be ashamed of yourself. Perhaps you should up your offer ?

Never heard a shag described as hearty before :)

I had a great New Year’s Eve but fell ill on New Year’s Day (surprisingly not hangover related either). Such is life.
2018 is still gonna be a great year!

Did you go the pub Bryan?

Happy New Year Roxy,

I certainly did go to the pub, its called the Miners Arms and its got nice oak beams on the ceiling and is a real traditional cosy pub with a coal fire in the lounge area.

It was busy but not ultra busy as the younger ones had gone to the cities close by.

Hope your feeling better anyway after your illness..

Bryan
