Royal wedding - the latest for those of you holding your breathPage 1 of 4    (1, 2, 3, 4)
just thought I might divert your attention from the miserableness out ther at the moment - have fun with this thread (but no grumps)

Royal wedding: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle choose cake

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have chosen an organic lemon and elderflower cake for their wedding in May.

Instead of a more traditional fruit cake, it will involve "spring" flavours and be covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers.

The couple have enlisted Californian pastry chef and food writer Claire Ptak, owner of the Violet Bakery in east London, to make it.

Ms Ptak said she was delighted and that she shared the couple's values on food.

Kensington Palace said the couple were "very much looking forward to sharing" the cake with their wedding guests on 19 May.

Fvck the royals!!
Now cake......:)
Sounds delicious.
I rather like victoria sponge, when it’s light n fluffy
I’ve never liked marzipan or icing which is quite traditional on those type of cakes.
Dunno why they didn’t opt for an oreo cake, it’s like they have some class :)

You forgot to say the exact time and location.

let them eat cake I say!

I'm the bloke at weddings who eats all the marzipan and icing leaving the fruit cake to the cats. Victoria sponge - yuk. But that's OK Roxy, we're well suited, sponge for you and icing (on the cake) for me.

Remember to play nicely boys and girls.

I smell a transatlantic edge to all this wedding bollox
(I'm being polite - it's International Happy day, or some such shite)
I worry that the non-king in waiting may find he's netted the
reincarnation of Wallace Simpson, but time will tell...........

I'd miss the Royal Icing and marzipan too. Although I do love lemon cake and butter icing.......not so sure about the elderflower though.

Just realised I will miss the Royal Wedding and all the fuss. Will be on holiday in Rome on the 19th. Harry is my favourite Royal though so might have to make an effort to find a TV screen somewhere over there.

I used to know a bloke whose favourite meal was a slab of marzipan and a litre of cold milk. I'm sure you all needed to know that.

You'll also be delighted to know that Katie's last public engagement is today before her confinement. Luvverly- Aaaahhhh

Don't like wedding cake. I never liked harry until harry met Meghan.
She's lovely just like roxy :) .. she's a great actress too
and a wonderful humanitarian . She's good in Brixton, mid
-dle England, or our lovely principality and bucks palace.
I'd love to have a black royal family nothing would make me
more happy. Nothing.

I like prince Charles. .so he's got a cushion. Out of Anne
Andrew or Edward, I'd take Charles any day. Love the
Countess of wessex too. Prince Philip is OK. Kate only
Megan? Meghan ? is better. William is wonderful but he
needs to wait for Charles the 3rd or Gary the 1st if that's
what he wants to call himself. Hopefully the commonwealth
will row in behind Charles. Love Charlotte and George ..he's
so cheeky.

During the nineties when Camilla was getting the tabloid treatment
and hence the automatons that read that
rubbish started throwing bread rolls at her . I stood up for her.
People were always saying how evil she was and poor Diana.
I never missed opportunity to sing her praises. .often remonstrating
with them while they went apoplectic.
And look at her now she looks fantastic (wham's seminal album)
Her hair, like mine, hasn't changed a bit and she is a great support
for Charles as he prepares for his kingship.

My absolute favourite is queen elizabeth the second. Love the
QE2. No not the money printing policy that kicked off the Arab
spring. QE2 is a lovely legend and her reign has been the best
working class period in world history ...long may she reign ..
Don't worry about the falling stock market. Long may she reign.
Bless you mamm ? Love you your majesty. England's rose. Xxxxxx

Diana, well known for her horizontal bearing,
gave us two (seemingly) very able princes.
Job done, she shuffled off, much to the relief
of the Queen who wanted her body dumped in
a public mortuary - not the last time that Tony B
would save the royal family.......

Charles is a pr*ck
Camilla is an old school sl*g who always fancied
doing the Queen gig.......

I'd be happier if the overpaid flower chattering
tree hugging pillock stayed at Highrgove
flogging shite to the masses....................

That's it 'n' all about it.
So there,,,,,,

I did mean this thread to be light hearted if possible, we can do our rants elsewhere, there's plenty of ammunition to pass out about Charles from the latest biography if you want to fork out £12 or you can get the gist of it in the guardian here https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/mar/23/rebel-prince-charles-tom-bower

I think the bit about the so called cad being Harry's dad has been proven not to be true.

I wonder if they’ll have the homeless off ‘their’ streets in time for the wedding. Not in a humanitarian way obvs but ‘legally’
I also wonder if people will protest this, I might.
Dress up as worzel gummidge, down plenty of vodka (I don’t like the cold).
Be a nuisance by just being there, Chap might join me (he’s a rebel also)
Busk a few tunes, beg a few sheckles, takes me back to my years living in London.

I made a lovely lemon cake this morning, it’s actually better than Mary Berry’s no lie

Don't know about the undeserving poor but I do know that Thames Valley Police are going to give all the constables a new helmet complete with polished knob just in time for the wedding.

In order to maintain the highest quality forums you are restricted to having no more than 1 knob joke this month.

Meanwhile charlie boy can't be happy at all their publicity so........................

The Second Severn Crossing is to be renamed later this year, the Government has announced.

It will be called The Prince of Wales Bridge to mark the 60th anniversary of the title being confirmed on Prince Charles by the Queen.

The Prince, who opened the crossing in 1996, is 70 this year. The Queen confirmed him as the Prince of Wales at the closing ceremony of the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff in 1958. The Prince was nine years old.

The Government has also confirmed it will abolish Severn crossing tolls this year.

So..

Not sure if this is the right thread but its to do with the royals so I`ll give it a go..

Years ago the Royal family for security reasons were advised against all travelling together via the same mode of transport in case someone or some group who were not keen on them decided to take them out.

Just wondered if any of you knew if this rule still applies for them?

Thanks in advance,

Bryan

Bryan,

I think it is to maintain a direct line to successors. So I doubt that Charles and William would travel together for example but not a problem of Charles travelling with Kate as she is not in line to the throne.

Breaking news..............Breaking news..............Breaking news..............Breaking news..............Breaking news..............

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not invited Theresa May or Jeremy Corbyn to their wedding.

The decision not to have an "official list" of political leaders in attendance also means that US President Donald Trump will not be invited.

The decision was made based on the church's size and the fact Harry is only fifth in line to the throne.

It has also been confirmed that Barack and Michelle Obama, who are friends of Harry, have not been invited.Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not invited Theresa May or Jeremy Corbyn to their wedding.

I think that's dreadful - i like the Obama's. I'd invite them to my wedding, just need a bride :-)

Utterly totally non political... they claim it's cos of size... Westminster being so huge... smallest cathedral I've seen ffs

Aye been room for her mutt jesty parliament even at a wee tea party.

Looks like Harry is on the ball n a realist, not a royalist

ps... where is Eastminster?

Nice Slice except the wedding isn't going to be there. Here's the details I know you have been avidly waiting for.

The couple will wed on Saturday 19 May at 12:00 BST at St George's Chapel in Windsor.

The chapel - where Prince Harry was christened - holds about 800 people.

I hope it’s a lovely sunny day for everyone
My invite has been delayed apparently, some confusion about who will be attending with me. The invite will now just say ‘and guest’

.....set it up for Billy or Chap....
