Venezuela is another textbook case of US-backed regime change.Page 1 of 1
China is communist - with a high degree of central planning and nationalized industry. It possesses the largest high-speed rail network on Earth, has a space program with the ability to launch people into orbit, and has the world's second largest economy.

Conversely, the US hasn't a single mile of high-speed rail, currently pays the Russian Federation to launch its astronauts into orbit, and has thoroughly squandered its place as largest global economy in pursuit of aspirations toward unrealized global domination.

The US has a long history of interfering with democratically elected governments in Latin America and in Venezuela. The United States had deliberately caused this economic collapse, hyperinflation, and food and medicine shortages in the first place - specifically to undermine and destabilize first President Chavez' government and now Maduro's.

Economic destabilization is a key component in US regime change efforts - witnessed in all of Washington's past and current confrontations including against Iraq, Libya, Syria, Iran, North Korea, and Russia for an array of alleged offences around "human rights" and fabricated threats to US national security.

The US Treasury Department aimed sanctions specifically at Venezuela's central bank and Petroleos de Venezuela - Venezuela's state-owned oil and gas company to restrict financing and to block transfers - while the US and allied OPEC members acted in concert to lower global oil prices - not only to cripple Venezuela's oil-based economy - but those of other US adversaries including Iran and Russia.

The US is funding virtually every aspect of opposition operations - from media and legal affairs, to indoctrination and political planning, to interference in the economy and the leveraging of "human rights" to shield US-funded agitators from any attempt to arrest them. While the nature of the US government's extensive meddling in Venezuela remains intentionally covert - seek to entirely overwrite Venezuelan institutions, governance, and law, replacing it with an obedient US-sponsored client regime and system of administration. US-funded opposition groups, focus on hording certain essential goods creating artificial shortages while armed gangs hired by wealthy business and land owners ravage state-backed farmers and industries to further exasperate prices, supply, and demand.

According to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo - the impetus for Washington's sudden interest in Venezuela is the suffering of the Venezuelan people. Meanwhile in Yemen of the most successful countries where purposely starving million is also part of the plan, Venezuela sits on an ocean of proven oil reserves. It has been openly slated for regime change by the US for years, for Washington's, not Venezuela's benefit.

In other instances of economic warfare, large sums of Venezuelan gold have been withheld in the UK which refuses to return it to the Venezuelan government.
.
It is clear that significant efforts have been made to cripple Venezuela's ability to profit from its oil with even the US media and those it interviews admitting the US is unsure of just how far to go - realizing that once the damaging sanctions are reversed, remaining, intact infrastructure will allow Venezuela to "provide a "petroeconomic recover" for the ailing country."

Conversely - nations like Saudi Arabia whom even Hillary Clinton said was "providing clandestine financial and logistic support to ISIL and other radical Sunni groups in the region," and undeniably among the worst human rights abusers on Earth - has escaped not only sanctions, but even the most basic condemnation for its serial violations of international law and rights abuses.

This stark contrast helps illustrate the true, politically-motivated nature of US sanctions arrayed against targeted nations with but the thinnest rhetorical veneer applied to obtain public support.

Sanctions and economic warfare have been aimed at Venezuela just as the US has done with the numerous other nations it has overthrown, invaded, and otherwise destroyed - or those that it is trying to overthrow and destroy.

The bigger picture, the historical context of 17 year of the USA tried to bring this socialist country into line. But by expanding the picture further into a global context one starts to see actors no one has yet, actually mentioned. This is possibly due to the fact its not been on the mainstream media propaganda machinery.

The USA has sanction against CHINA ...who has a global trading strategy called the One belt - One road policy that is designed to stretch 50-100 years into the future. We in the democratic leading nations of the world, do not like upstarts or challengers to our covert domination of nearly all nation on earth. China make better goods than anywhere, cheaper than anywhere, making it the most profitable FREE trading nation on earth. We have our TV's and loads of stuff all made in China in our home whereas out Governments have US made munitions and delivery systems around the country and world. So China sells us stuff for peaceful social benefits and the USA sells us war goods under the guise of defence.
Crippling something with a production line like China needed a different global strategy amongst the leading nations. So the idea slowly Pauperising people globally, (we have our own version called austerity) prevents ordinary people from purchasing Chinese goods, as they increasingly, do not have the disposable income. This crushes Chinas annual growth down to an abysmal 6% which is what the democratic world wants, which is for China not to be able to sell stuff, the people will with encouragement cause social unrest and the government could then be ruled by those that know what is best for ordinary people. But that is a long way in the future.

China has made large investments in Venezuela and South and Mid America too, and the people love the stuff, but those running Uncle Sam’s Empire are far from amused. Technologically China is 3-5 years ahead of any other country, which also makes it a security and defence problem for the leaders of the free world.

So its not just about Venezuela, or Cuba, or Niagara the TROIKA OF EVIL as opposed to the former Axis of Evil and other propaganda catch phrases. Bolton knows a catchy phrase when he hears one

Venezuela has the larges OIL RESERVES in the world, and when the US puppet is installed will privatise the Venezuelan oil industry under spurious economic reasons, and who will buy it up? Well according to the talks Bolton has had with US oil companies, it seems they are more than keen to help Venezuela get on it economic feet again, and help the people prosper. This is a euphemism for helping themselves like they used to, giving little back for the oil they more or less stole before Chavez took it back into state ownership.. Controlling the Venezuelan oil means they can at last control the, out of control Saudis, the Wahabi terrorist machinery, that provides the ideological foundations to nearly all terrorist groups in the world. It was Saudi overproduction that smashed the high oil price on behalf of the USA crashing the price to smash the economies of Venezuela, to start with, as well as Russia and Iranian economies ...all dependent on ........you got it...OIL!!!

So lets all be glad the UK foreign policy is dictated to by the USA who knows what is best for ordinary people on our world. They love TV, and endless war is what the US economy is based on. We do pretty good too and in Yemen which also has sanctions as well as all borders controlled to keep the Iranians, as well as food and medicine out, we are helping the Saudis reduce the population to a more manageable size as we and the Americans always have the downtrodden people in mind, who want freedom. The UK and the USA give them freedom through death, as in Iraq, Libya Syria, and is demonstrated wherever our democratically elected leaders leave their footprint globally.

I am British and support of both the UUS and our Government's policy of population control!!! If they will not use contraceptives, then in a free world they have chosen the only solution.

golly, there's a scotsman who thinks america should get a kick in the nuts every time they do what you've accused. i'm just surprised he--and the rest of the chump apologists--haven't chimed in to talk about their hero sending neo cons and former human rights criminals (elliot abrams) to Venezuela to handle that country's domestic problems.

its like....they have nothing to confess :) but they're so un-silent on other issues.

Justinelle (whose name sounds affectedly feminine), why ever do you bother here? Your pattern appears to be to broadcast pseudo-intellectual drivel from your (shıthouse?) den, which seems to be written by someone other than yourself, for you can hardly express yourself in a grammatical construction of even the briefest kind. And you do this without the courtesy of attribution. In other words, your are a fraud: and, ought to be ashamed of yourself

Tsk. A trump apologist? Why would I be an apologist for president the donald?

I stated on another thread I'm disappointed president the Donald has not done what he said he would do regarding Shermanland sticking it's nose into other nations business.

I also think Venezuela should be left alone to get on with its internal affairs.

And all those nations recognising an unelected geezer as leader of Venezuela are also in the wrong.

Can you perchance give me a wee hint at where I have been an 'apologist' for president the donald?

I have stated that I am glad he won the election and beat the horrible bint clinton.

Plus he pisses off intolerant illiberal liberals so that's a good thing as well.

But again I shall state my disappointment at the foreign policy being adopted by president the donald.

Once again i am disappointed that nationalist parties are lending their support for regime change in Venezuela and backing a geezer that no one voted for.

But well done the 5 star folks for blocking the eu and not calling for regime change. Only the citizens of Venezuela should chose who governs them.

"The EU was unable to come to a collective stance on Venezuela last week when the Five Star wing of the Italian coalition government objected to recognition of Guaidó.

Only Venezuela can solve its problems – meddling by outsiders isn’t the solution

There are divisions on the issue not just within the Italian coalition, but also within the Five Star Movement (M5S). Luigi Di Maio, Italy’s deputy prime minister and the leader of M5S, defended his refusal to recognise Guaidó as interim president saying he “had not been elected by the people”."

Everyone is familiar with the mainstream media coverage of Venezuela’s crisis. You know that a brutal dictator, whose socialist policies have ravaged the country, is clinging to power with an iron grip, as his people beg him to leave. This statement not of my construction could also apply to France, where new draconian limitations of speech and protest are now enshrined in law. Covering ones face is now a crime, so not just limited to those wearing the hijab.

France, exposes the hypocrisy the developed world has towards what should be subservient nations, who should let western corporations manage their natural resources, as such nations are just not capable of the responsibility. and should be treated like misguided children.

Ordinary people after years of being lied to by governments understand this is the beginnings of another CIA-backed regime change operation – or less politely a coup.

John Bolton openly admitted that Washington wants Venezuela’s massive oil reserves.

Documents published by WikiLeaks https://twitter.com/wikileaks/status/892675208901005312/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^892675208901005312&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.rt.com%2Fop-ed%2F450741-venezuela-media-coverage-bias%2F

show that, according to US State Department cables, “oil” is Washington’s priority in Venezuela.

US has always loathed socialism and blaming “socialism” as a kind of catch-all for everything that’s wrong with Venezuela, and used in the UK against Corbyn too. US economic sanctions on Venezuela, Iran North Korea, Syria, Russia and China, are portrayed through the media to pressurize a government – when in reality those they hurt most are ordinary people. strangling a country’s economy until the citizens revolt, and suddenly history repeats itself and its all aboard for regime change followed by a privatization blitz giving access to Venezuela's vast natural resources to US corporations.

The fact that the United States is threatening Venezuela with the use of force,” is illegal under international law, appears to suggest ther is only one global law. Whateverr Laws the US decides to state is now the new global law??? THe media pumps out the same old messages it used to justify the total dstruction of Iraq, Syria and Libya : An evil regime, a suffering people – and the US, the well-intentioned savior and bringer of freedom, and democracy is there to save the people, then rape the country of its natural resourses of course.

For those that like to think everything is a conspiracy theory, the WikiLeaks document there in black and white on an internal government document highlighted, details how the US uses “financial weapons” and “economic warfare” to get what it wants from uncooperative governments. For those that are unable to bother to read the WIKILEAKS document: It states that the US“has a long history of conducting economic warfare valuable to any ARSOF UW campaign.” For the uninitiated, “ARSOF UW” refers to the ‘US Army Special Operations - Unconventional Warfare’ manual.

So why do the subjugated countries suddenly praise Trump in this proposed economic RAPE, well they smell the financial blood frenzy, the potential to blackmail the Saudis at long last through oil production though the largest oil reserves in the world, forcing prices up or down at the turn of a tap. And let us not forget the Western banking situation where since the 2008 financial blackmail they have accelerated the global debt to proportions never once dreamed of, and this might provide a temporary respite for the inevitable financial meltdown.

alas, a peek thru most of our posting histories can show where we've apologized for our side, diverted from the sins of our side, or just remained quiet about something our side did that we rail against the other side for performing. we can blast Venezuela for socialist policies for the poor, when the last State of the Union, chump promised government handouts for single mothers etc. and of course some of us are going to declare our mortgages or our dependants on our taxes in a month. government exists to help its people. As far as blackmailing the Saudis, right now we're the chief exporter, but our real concern is making certain oil still sells in dollars, and no other currency. But it is ironic how every petro-power nation likes to invest those petro dollars in mucking about other countries--saudi arabia in yemen, etc. none of us seem happy enough to just invest domestically.

Exactly. Yet you vote time after time for sherman politicians who do the above. Why?

"we can blast Venezuela for socialist policies for the poor, when the last State of the Union, chump promised government handouts for single mothers etc"

And who is WE? I'm not blasting Venezuela for anything. Venezuela is a sovereign state. Who citizens vote for and why they voted the way they did is none of my concern. It is for the citizens of Venezuela to decide.

So you approve of president the donalds plan then?

Trump. Clinton, Bush, Regan, and the rest of the presidents since WW2 have followed the same agenda in foreign policy, regardless of the people they were voted in to represent. Trump has just exposed for all to see what has been going on for decades, but more covertly.

The fact the foreign policy has been so consistent suggest that in order for such ideological continuity, there are other influences, much stronger influences that the individual holding the presidential office. One could easily argue there are two governments the one the public is aware of, votes for, and another higher force pulling the strings, making policy, and keeping the voting public out of the loop, who are told what they need to be told, normally in simplistic form. That person is a bad guy and needs sorting out, because he did this, or that, which after their demise one finds out it was just lies. Vietnam was based on lies as was Iraq, where convenient truths are invents to persuade the public to do NOTHING. By doing nothing its a green light to some adventure for the hidden agenda of corporate profiteering.

I just wish it was a simple as blaming TRUMP, but the truth is they are the public face hiding darker forces, which generally have presidents by the balls, and held down with invisible chains. We all know that invisible chains are threats, intimidations, where accidents happen, planes crash, people get shot, blown up by chosen patsies, families are vulnerable, food and water can be dangerous all set up like Presidents to be the sole focus for the public, camouflaging those really in control.

This malign force is now referred to as the deep state, and this cancer is not just confined to the USA.

I don't intend to pick just on you Justinelli...truth is I don't really blame you because I see you as one of the most ignorant posters on this board...full of mindless drivel capable of only plagiarizing conspiracy site posts without attribution....but you clearly reflect...although a strikingly non-critically thinking one . . . the type of people who buy into everything...the flat earth society if you will. You guys actually think there is a sinister purpose behind everything instead of seeing things as they really are...in the US case, using its power the best way its sees fit in its own best interests...although it is constantly screwing up. But heck...conspiracy types have always existed and always will...which is why Trump's lack of transparency is so repugnant...when he is hiding things from us and repeatedly lying, the conspiracy freaks fill in the blanks....heck read LGLs crap.

I do not need to bother with anything that revolves round the spurious concepts of conspiracy site or theories. We all know that making thing personal, gives AN author an ego boost, and with the sprinkling of insults add muster to the already boosted ego. So in effect such behaviours are a form of self gratification or what others refer to a mental masturbation which is a very popular pastime for those who regard their lives as somewhat inadequate. It’s a good policy to boost ones self esteem....like a tire with a slow puncture which one cannot be bothered to fix, finds it needs constant air to keep the whole show going.

“Only the weak hit the fly with a hammer.” – Bangambiki Habyarimana

So lets start with the idea of the DEEP STATE. Historically, the idea of a Deep State is an import; it has been used for decades abroad to describe any network of entrenched government officials who function independently from elected politicians and work toward their own ends.

What is it?

Answer • a mixture interested parties of government and parts of top-level finance and industry that is effectively able to govern ... without reference to the consent of the governed as expressed through the formal political process".

WHO are these….. interested parties of government and parts of top-level finance and industry?

Answer• Lets start where it began officially: President Dwight D. Eisenhower's 1961 farewell address: "In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military–industrial complex.

Michael J. Glennon calls it the "double government"; the defense and national security network.

Newt Gingrich recently told the Associated Press. “There’s a permanent state of massive bureaucracies that do whatever they want and set up deliberate leaks to attack the president. This is what the deep state does: They create a lie, spread a lie, fail to check the lie and then deny that they were behind the lie.” The deep state as an "entrenched bureaucracy a networks of officials, private firms, media outlets, think tanks, foundations, NGOs, interest groups, and other forces that attend to the needs of capital, not of everyday life" while "concealed from public gaze" (or "hidden in plain sight"), citing Jason Lindsay (2013).

Mike Lofgren, a former congressional staffer specializing in intelligence wrote: The DEEP STATE was not “a secret, conspiratorial cabal; the state within a state is hiding mostly in plain sight, and its operators mainly act in the light of day.” It is not a tight-knit group, and has no clear objective. Rather, it is a sprawling network, stretching across the government and into the private sector. “It is a hybrid of national security and law enforcement agencies,” Lofgren wrote. “… I also include the Department of the Treasury because of its jurisdiction over financial flows, its enforcement of international sanctions and its organic symbiosis with Wall Street.” Lofgren’s conception, the Deep State is maintained by the mid-level number crunchers, analysts, congressional staffers and lawyers — technocrats who build and perpetuate the Washington consensus, leading the country in and out of wars, in and out of trade agreements, into and, if we’re lucky, out of recessions, without questioning their own judgment.

Lofgren’s Deep State, including Wall Street lawyers and alumni of Silicon Valley companies that help the government surveil citizens, have become part of Trump’s administration.

Amazon has dozens upon dozens of books which discuss the topic of a fourth branch of government, invisible power-brokers, the military-industrial complex, the role of multi-national corporations and their lobbying groups which influence American politics behind the scenes.

None of the politicians in Washington have been motivated by the possibility of revenues generated from a hybridized military-multinational corporate syndicate in some of these desolate regions in which we insist on “spreading democracy?”

In 2014 a Boston Globe article, entitled Vote all you want. The secret government won’t change. “The people we elect aren’t the ones calling the shots.” In an interview with the Boston Globe regarding his book National Security and Double Government, Tufts University political scientist Michael J. Glennon maintains that “the defense and national security apparatus is effectively self-governing, with virtually no accountability, transparency, or checks and balances of any kind. He uses the term ‘double government:’ There’s the one we elect, and then there’s the one behind it, steering huge swaths of policy almost unchecked. Elected officials end up serving as mere cover for the real decisions made by the bureaucracy.”

http://arxiv.org/pdf/1107.5...

Thanks to Edward Snowden, we’re aware of the deep and longstanding cooperation between Tech companies and U.S. intelligence agencies in the realm of mass surveillance. As such, the most recent transformation of these companies into full-fledged information gatekeepers should be seen in its proper context; merely as a dangerous continuation and expansion of an already entrenched reality. Facebook isn’t even hiding the fact that it’s outsourcing much of its “fake news” analysis to the Atlantic Council, a think tank funded by NATO, Gulf States and defense contractors.
As reported by Reuters: Facebook began looking for outside help amid criticism for failing to rein in Russian propaganda ahead of the 2016 presidential elections…With scores of its own cybersecurity professionals and $40 billion in annual revenue in 2017, Facebook might not seem in need of outside help.

At a conference in mid-July 2017, Barack Obama’s CIA director, John Brennan, remarked that executive branch officials have an “obligation … to refuse to carry out” outrageous or anti-democratic orders from President Donald Trump. The comment quickly caught the attention of Rush Limbaugh, who saw nothing short of a threat to the republic. “He practically called for a coup!” the radio host bellowed on the air a few days later, warning of a plot orchestrated by “embeds in the deep state at the Pentagon, State Department, various intelligence agencies.”

https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/09/05/deep-state-real-cia-fbi-intelligence-215537

So maybe its not a theory, or a conspiracy theory as neither of these two rely on evidence but opinion, but can fact and evidence change OPINION….NOT FOR THE ZEALOTS!

I can not propose to know- the historical dynamics of the Op and other posters, i do know that i am not a conspiracy theorist- i do know we {humanity} are responsible and accountable for our current SOA(state of Affairs)-And does "material capitalism" and "majority democracy" control the human life capital investment and oppress the minority voice as an invalid contribution, indeed. Is this unfortunate indeed..The only important "capital" is life and a true democracy validates the minority as well as the majority voice.

Firstly I would question exactly what the practice of democracy has not come to, which brings into question if it is actual democracy at all.

If swathes of people are denied for whatever reason the right to vote, then it skews the result. This is a popular practice in various states.

Voting rights groups repeatedly have challenged states’ registration purges, including those in Ohio, Georgia, Kansas and Iowa, contending that black, Latino, poor, young and homeless voters have been disproportionately purged. In Florida, Kansas, Iowa and Harris County, Texas, courts have ordered elections officials to restore thousands of voters to the registration rolls or to halt purges they found discriminatory.https://publicintegrity.org/accountability/america-scrubs-millions-from-the-voter-rolls-is-it-fair/

Federal authorities say they've reached a settlement with New York City's Board of Elections over the agency's improper removal of about 117,000 voters from registration rolls.https://www.newsmax.com/US/new-york-city-settlement-board-of-elections/2017/11/01/id/823309/

Read Newsmax: NYC Board of Elections, US in Settlement on Voters Removed | Newsmax.com
Urgent: Do you approve of Pres. Trump? Vote Here in Pollhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voter_suppression_in_the_United_States

Georgia officials kept hundreds of voting machines locked in warehouses on Election Day 2018, creating a shortage at the polls.[114] This led to hours-long lines, which act as a deterrent to voters who had to work or take care of children.

Secondly the people who one votes for, puts their trust in are then bought by corporate or other interests, then they are NOT officially representing the people but in relity are serving those that pay the most effective bribes, which is not the voting public.

One example is: In it, leaders of the pro-Israel lobby speak openly about how they use money to influence the political process, in ways so blunt that if the comments were made by critics, they’d be charged with anti-Semitism.

“Congressmen and senators don’t do anything unless you pressure them.”

David Ochs, founder of HaLev, which helps send young people to American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s annual conference, described for the reporter how AIPAC and its donors organize fundraisers outside the official umbrella of the organization, so that the money doesn’t show up on disclosures as coming specifically from AIPAC. He describes one group that organizes fundraisers in both Washington and New York. “This is the biggest ad hoc political group, definitely the wealthiest, in D.C.,” Ochs says, adding that it has no official name, but is clearly tied to AIPAC. “It’s the AIPAC group. It makes a difference; it really, really does. It’s the best bang for your buck, and the networking is phenomenal.” (Ochs and AIPAC did not immediately return The Intercept’s requests for comment.)

Without spending money, Ochs argues, the pro-Israel lobby isn’t able to enact its agenda. “Congressmen and senators don’t do anything unless you pressure them. They kick the can down the road, unless you pressure them, and the only way to do that is with money,” he explains.

He describes a fundraiser for Anthony Brown, a Democrat running for Congress in Maryland, as typical. “So we want the Jewish community to go face to face in this small environment, 50, 30, 40 people, and say, ‘This is what’s important to us. We want to make sure that if we give you money, that you’re going to enforce the Iran deal.’ That way, when they need something from him or her, like the Iran deal, they can quickly mobilize and say look, we’ll give you 30 grand. US is an oligarchy, not a democracy.........The US is dominated by a rich and powerful elite. So concludes a recent study by Princeton University Prof Martin Gilens and Northwestern University Prof Benjamin I Page...

Eric Zuess, writing in Counterpunch, isn't surprised by the survey's results.
"American democracy is a sham, no matter how much it's pumped by the oligarchs who run the country (and who control the nation's "news" media)," he writes. "The US, in other words, is basically similar to Russia or most other dubious 'electoral' 'democratic' countries. We weren't formerly, but we clearly are now."https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-echochambers-27074746
