From the older than dirt corner, can I say that getting older is better than the alternative. haha Seriously, it may sound cliche but life is a cycle, it's always changing. That's the one thing we CAN count on for sure. Nothing ever stays the same. If you can accept the fact that we can't always be 25, or have our kids be little babies, etc. then we can just enjoy whatever phase our life is in at the moment. Enjoy where you're at now. You'll never have it again, you can't go forward and you can't go back. All those longings or wishes are just wasted energy. Relish the age that you are, look forward to the future and only glance back at the past for warm memories and lessons learned not to wish you could relive it.

Yes of course geting older scares me. Why? I have seen too many get older and the mind and health go. The idea of becoming a burden to my children in my old age is a truly horrible thought.

I"m 52 today. I"m telling you, this is a hard one. Most was easy, 40 was hard, 50 was a piece of cake...but this 52 thing? Oh my.

thinking 10 years till I can semi retire

AARP keeps sending me stuff in the mail...is that like stalking? LOL

Younger coworkers come to me for advise...I"m like a mother they say

tried to show grandson how to Disco...he looks up and says, I thought you were too old to dance.

celebrated birthday with a friend online...drinking white russians...only to find out I"m now lactose intolerant.(who's have thought?????)

Walked the dog this morning....and I think he was moving slower. Does he think I"m getting old too???

ohhhhhh, myyyyyy is this all there is??????

It's apart of life and I accept it. I mean we really don't have any other choice but to accept it. Besides you are only as old as you feel anyhow. :)

Hell Banna Joe that gut would water ski bare foot in his 80's before he died, he just didn't accept it took it to the next level by not letting it stop it from what he always enjoyed doing.

LOL...hey, the joints do ache from time to time...but that's all in the aging process. You'll understand some day. In the mean time, I guess it's time for me to think about taking some Clucosomine Condrodian to oil them up a bit. I hear it does wonders.

That's great about your 80 year old friend....running around in China. WTG to him.

As for me, I don't have much interest in going to china, but I do hope when I'm 80...I'm sharing my life with a loved one and I'm chasing him around the table. (might have to use my cane to hook him) LOL

I wasn't complaining about being 52, was only trying to be funny. This is a very good day. It's the first day of the rest of my life. Now, let's all start living, OK?????

I can honestly say personally if I knew then what I knew now I would be more confused because I don't have the experience to understand it.

I wouldn't call it fear.
I'm really the same person I was when I was twenty, except I don't lead with my face as much as I used to. And I know a lot more.
It depresses me that people treat me differently than they did when I was 20. I'm the vicitm of age stereotypes a lot. Like, I must not know about the latest alternative music, or I don't know how to have fun, because I'm approaching 40...not true.

I must admit that getting older is a little scarey. I am a caring, compassionate. loving, intelligent, independant woman. I think sometimes though, that men may not be able to see that in me.......or in the cases with some men.......they only want a sexaul relationship. Lots of men these days don't seem to want to settle down with a good woman. I am a little afraid of not having someone special to share my life with as I get older.

Exactly. The people who really are 26 don't understand that we feel like they do. They think we're an alien race that belongs in rocking chairs.
Like new music? Enjoy skateboarding?
Then you're "trying to act young", which disgusts people, and they think you should do the things society says older people should do.
I am in college in my late 30's, and I get attitudes from people all the time.

Hey, I'm not here to live up to their expectations of what older people should or shouldn't be doing!

getting oldes doesnt' scare me becuase I know I'll find somebody and you'll either be married with your significant other or you'll find out you want to be a priest, in which God is the only person who is significant to you..........I have my one and only so I don't need to be afraid, the women I'm dating will come down to only one and I know who that is so I'm good.


I'm not scared because I know that once I have a child(which I still don't at 30) I'll be OK, atleast my baby girl/boy will love me and that's all that matters to me. atleast for 18 years, you know, LOL............

Well I cried at 30 and now 35 is around the corner...Is this the coming of midlife?? as in midlife crisis or am I way off...I find myself completing an entire self analysis these days. Yes scared I am.

I also think of having kids..maybe I'm too old for that too....
