I am a woman of 51 and I have never worn makeup makes me feel like I'm pretending to be someone I'm not..I did not like to see it on others when I was younger..and now when I look at women my age who wear it it scares the shit out of me..do we know how stupid we look?? Its like seeing a guy in a speedo who shouldn't be in one....I was in a "timmys" the other day and there was someone in front of me..she looked nice from behind cute butt cute hair oh but when she turned around cripes..she looked like a friggin' guppie..facelift and lip thingy done..eyes buggin out 'cause they had nowhere else to go probably cost her 10 thousand bucks to scare everyone.. sorry but if that is the only way to get a guy..to put it in my mothers words..I would rather have a hot dinner....

I don't get too fired up over heavy make up either. I kind of like the "book worm" look if they have nice hair and a fresh look to them.

Or - the girl next door with her fresh look and in her jeans and .......... cut off t-shirt or little sun dress - oh baby.

I have never been fond of makeup and tend not to wear any 99% of the time - if going out for a fancy even, I apply a tiny amount preferring the natural look to the harlequin look.
In all fairness though, some women are never taught how to use makeup to achieve the best look.

You need to put your picture up there Fishon so we can see your natural beauty without makeup.
Yes I wear makeup. I have very pale lashes and lips that sort of fade into the rest of my features. With a lite stroke of liner and lipstick I can look entirely different and in my opinion and others, for the better. I do not use a lot of make up and do not like to see women who put it on like spackle, but an occasional shade here and there can enhance some women who are not born naturally colorful. I'm definitely not going to insult or condem someone for attempting to enhance their appearance. If you feel you look better it bolsters the confidence which is a good thing for any woman be it make up, heels, shirt or sexy dress.

I used to dislike make-up, especially heavy make-up, and then I began to see the person instead, and she has her reasons whatever they may be, wanting to look hot, be presentable, look pretty, whatever. Now I just notice whether she ever smiles, and if she does, why she does, in case it's something I like to do.

there is such a thing as "tastefully applied makeup". i hate that Tammy Faye Baker look and i think that is what the OP is talking about here. makeup should only be an enhancement - not a cover-up. i am wearing makeup in my profile pics and i don't think it looks like Tammy Faye put it on my face.

to read some threads on here, one would think one should go around looking like a ghost in a gunney-sack. can't wear makeup, can't wear high heels, can't wear dresses or skirts, can't wear stockings, can't show cleavage, can't wear sexy underwear ......... what the he** is wrong with people who are against everything feminine???? what's your beef with those of us who choose to be feminine? there's nothing sexy about sweat pants, those god-awful tight pants which show every bump of cellulite, baggy t-shirts, jeans jeans jeans (most of which don't fit properly) and old lady shoes (i ain't no old lady yet, sweetheart). and you know what ..... i am not dressing up to CATCH a man - i'm doing it for myself. i don't consider looking my best every day to be a sin. the key to looking good in your clothes is dressing for the size you are and not the size you want to be. well fitting clothes are not uncomfortable and tastefully applied makeup is not offensive.

I have to agree with you Maggie - why not look & feel the best that you can?
I'm a Scorpio and we, apprently, have a penchant for sexy underwear - so that's what I do for myself to make me feel good - but I do feel bad for the gals who feel they have to cake on make up to boost their morale.

muchas gracias, ladies and gents. as an Aries lady, sometimes my straight-shooting style gets me into trouble (hahahaha); however, I'm encouraged to note that the majority of the posters so far agree with my take on the situation. i keep telling my daughter that aging has its benefits - i'm old enough now that people will just say i'm eccentric instead of crazy.

I think I will start new profession - doing makeovers. I see so many women (and men) who would look absolutely stunning if they only would do something with their appearance. I sit on the transit in the mornings and look at people and think to myself how I would do the makeover. I don't like the pancake makeup either, just in case anyone is wondering (can you even buy that stuff anymore??)

Yes, some women are going blind and can't see how they really look like in the light or outside light. Others look like a mask. I try to wear what looks better for a woman my age and what compliments my complexion too.

Ladies,

If you are interested in a makeup that is made for women our age group and older, then try the Lauren Hutton collection. I was just introduced to it myself and I have to say that I'm very pleased. The colors are soft and the foundation makes your skin look flawless without that pancake look.

I agree there is nothing wrong with wearing makeup to enhance your features and to feel feminine.

Oh yeah..how nasty women wearing make-up and thinking they have the right to determine who they are attracted to or not attracted to! How dare they?
Could everyone please start a demonstration againest all the big clothing companies and make-up conclomerates making millions and millions of dollars on fashion and clothing.
Oh gee, that's right they exist because people buy the clothes, buy the make-up! People in Hollywood...all clowns cuz they wear make-up! How unnatural, making all that money!
While were at it...let's get everbody natural...no more plastic surgery for anyone, no more big expensive gyms, running will do the trick. Let's not forget those older men running around with long hair, OMG cut your hair and look your age, and please women over 50 with that long straight hair,
who do you think your kidding, have you looked in a mirror... my friends and I think you look foolish!
As for the men, who like the natural no make-up look...I'll drop my make-up bag, if you'll drop your Viagra!

I just don't understand why we as women subject ourselves to putting this stuff on our face..think about it..do guys do this...I mean your normal everyday ones, what is the advantage besides the trillions of dollars that the makeup industry gets for this crap that is made of all kinds of chemicals that we would never think of ingesting but women slather it all over there face????? Why can we not just be ourselves??? The men are....and as far as I am concerned I as a woman do not trust a female wearing makeup..I hire and fire people in my job..I look for real human beings,,not someone who is pretending to be someone she is not..
