I don't get too fired up over heavy make up either. I kind of like the "book worm" look if they have nice hair and a fresh look to them.

Or - the girl next door with her fresh look and in her jeans and .......... cut off t-shirt or little sun dress - oh baby.

I have never been fond of makeup and tend not to wear any 99% of the time - if going out for a fancy even, I apply a tiny amount preferring the natural look to the harlequin look.
In all fairness though, some women are never taught how to use makeup to achieve the best look.

You need to put your picture up there Fishon so we can see your natural beauty without makeup.
Yes I wear makeup. I have very pale lashes and lips that sort of fade into the rest of my features. With a lite stroke of liner and lipstick I can look entirely different and in my opinion and others, for the better. I do not use a lot of make up and do not like to see women who put it on like spackle, but an occasional shade here and there can enhance some women who are not born naturally colorful. I'm definitely not going to insult or condem someone for attempting to enhance their appearance. If you feel you look better it bolsters the confidence which is a good thing for any woman be it make up, heels, shirt or sexy dress.

I used to dislike make-up, especially heavy make-up, and then I began to see the person instead, and she has her reasons whatever they may be, wanting to look hot, be presentable, look pretty, whatever. Now I just notice whether she ever smiles, and if she does, why she does, in case it's something I like to do.

gunny sack? does it meet these minimum requirements:

1. easy access
2. machine washable
3. can be worn inside out

If so, by all means wear it.

Ladies,

If you are interested in a makeup that is made for women our age group and older, then try the Lauren Hutton collection. I was just introduced to it myself and I have to say that I'm very pleased. The colors are soft and the foundation makes your skin look flawless without that pancake look.

I agree there is nothing wrong with wearing makeup to enhance your features and to feel feminine.

It's the kind of thing that works based on how it affects your self-image. It does alter your appearance, so you can't say it is an imaginary effect. The question is how it makes you feel, and how others then see you. It can work for some and not others, so there is no harm in people using make-up, or not. Taking a stand for or against it, why?

Which is great that you are happy with yourself the way you are, and it doesn't bother me one bit that you don't wear make up or high heels or anything else. What I don't get is why it would bother you that somebody does.

Is my thoughts blonedevil, she was happy with how she looked even though millions of people thought she looked like a clown - that isn't fake to be happy with how you look when it is an expression of yourself and you don't change for anyone. How I look is portrayed from who I am... it is an expression of me inside and my moods. If I dressed and wore make that looked sophisticated, I would be a fake because that isn't me. I dress for myself. Men see me without makeup and with. The only way it makes me "untrustworthy" is if I was wearing a mask and walked into a bank, or if I quit wearing makeup or doing what I want because somebody else didn't like it.

Your right Fishon in the sense that many are neurotic, but it isn't the makeup gene that is the problem. The gene we need to pass on is be yourself and do what you want for yourself, whether it is to wear makeup or not.

I never quite figured out why people have a problem when others do something to enhance themselves. Is it jealousy or insecurity??????

Let me get this strait...men don't wear make-up to enhance there appearance...so with that said...does this suggest that we as women should refrain from shaving our legs and armpits because men don't??!!!

And fishon, you are quick to point fingers and pass judgement on others....remember there are three pointing back at you. If the deciding factor on you employing someone is as shallow as them wearing make-up it says a lot about your level of intelligence and it also prejudice. Your deciding factor should be education and pertinant experiance. Also, as for your enviorment being the food industry. I do believe long hair would be more of a health issue than a bit of lipstick.

I mean really how can you honestly judge another person because of what makes them confindent and feel better about themselves. All this suggests to me is ignorance and lack of respect for other peoples choices that in no way harm those around them. Get a life.

P.S. Sistermary is my mother.
