If this is a repeat thread I apologize but I think its an interesting and fun thread

What are you local pizza favorites(not counting the franchizes)

Mine is a place called Martini's. The owner is from the old school and all the food is homemade. The pizza is to die for and so are their sandwiches and lasagna mmmmmmm.

When I was growing up in the San Jose/Santa Clara, California area Vesuvio's Pizzeria was always where we went. I remember a couple of times a month my dad would stop there on his way home from work and bring home pizza for the family, then when him and mom could corral all the kids up we would eat there.

Its been in business since 1956 and is still family owned.

They make real Italian Style Pizza and it's the best i've ever had anywhere.

I still go in a have a Vesuvio's Pizza whenever i'm in the area.

For Winston-Salem that delivers, probably upper crust, there was a little place my hosuemate took me too, but I dont remember the name. Its in the shopping center with Target and a bunch of other stores.

For Greensboro well, I have to say New York Pizza or PieWorks.

Boston pizza is a franchise but yes they r quite good.
My girlfriend told me to put Cliffy's pizza from Brantford on here and I agree it's awsome (but not as good as PJ's) it's right down the street from BCI high school on Brant Ave. but don't go during luch.

In St. Louis, it's Imo's. They blend different cheeses for a unique, unforgettable pizza. Farotto's, in Rock Hill, a suburb, is a close 2nd.

For those of you who live in Lexington, everyone probably knows Christo's on Main street has the best pizza,

But there is a place called Michaels Steaks and Subs on South Main Street, that with the right building and location would give Christos a run for its money, its really good pizza....if you live in Lexington, NC please stop by and try his pizza, the owner does the cooking himself and really puts love into it....thats what makes this pizza so yummy!

The ELBO ROOM in TOLEDO.OHIO........When i moved to the south i used to litterally dream about this place, a thin "PASTRY" crust that rumor has it DOMINOE'S offered the owner a couple of mil for the recipe and he declined it. There is a NYC food critic that roamed the world for 2 yr's looking for the pirfect pizza, said he found it in TUCSON,AZ.....but he also blasted pizza made in NAPLES,ITL as well as CHICAGO deep dish which he declared was nothing more than a casserol......i guess it's all subjective.

I know this is simple, but Sam's club has good pizza....really for the price, you can't beat the large combo 'take and bake'. They bake it for you and for under eight bucks, not bad either. Kinda tasty

The best pizza I have ever eaten was from Mama Mia Pizza, it was owned by a Greek family and was open for years. Unfortunately the children did not take over the business and the owner wanted to retire. I have not found any pizza to equal it yet. He would always say "I'm a know you come back".

Best pizza anywhere: Pizzeria Uno's/Due's in Chicago. Take it from a fat slob like me, I know food. It don't get any better than Uno's. Lou Malnotti's runs a close second.

In the Indianapolis area Sinclair's in Fishers, IN is great! The edges are like soft pretzels!

For thin crust pizza I like Monical's. They were the only pizzeria in my hometown of Robinson, IL (also home of Heath candy bars, I grew up with kids from the Heath family) until Pizza Hut came in in the eighties. They recently opened a Monical's on the westside of Indianapolis (in Avon) but I haven't been there yet.

For wholesale club pizza Sam's is not bad but I think Costco's is better (they make fresh crust while Sam's is premade).

I loved Godfather's thick pizza in the eighties (with sauerkraut) but I went to one recently, and like some someone else said, it's now very generic thin crust pizza.

I was in NY recently and went to Ray's Original Pizza but I wasn't impressed but then I had reheated slices, which I hate! We have a great NY style pizzeria here in Indiana called Pizza, Pasta, Etc.

As for chains, Marco's and Bellacino's are really good.

If you make homemade pizza, make the dough in a breadmaker but remove it before it bakes into a loaf.
