OK, who here uses Skype? I'm seeing maybe ~2.5 MILLION people on in the mid-mornings, during the work week.

i used it when it was in beta..if i think its the program that i think it is.. its like msn but you talk with a mic rather then typing.. i use similar programs like Ventrilio, Gamecomm, and Teamspeak.. for gaming.. its a neat little program.. and i like the whole idea of talking on mics.. better way to get know the person your talking too..

I have it but barely ever use it...

When I used to play online I used TeamSpeak a lot, the commentary for the drunk 8-player Age of Empires games was great :P

Best software I've found for talking to people (audibly) online is "Picophone". Microscopic little program - and all you need is each other's IP address (or register a nickname at its website). Loved it when I had a long distance relationship.

well with ventrillo, teamspeak and gamecomm you can have multiple people on at once.. there main uses are for gaming.. so people can talk to eachother while gaming.. but you can have up to like 32 people.. if the server that they are ran on can support that bandwidth.. most people rent servers.. rather then run them from home..

Ventrillo, Teamspeak and Roger Wilco are good for gamers but take a lot of bandwidth....

I use it rather than an actual telephone. I have had problems with it and with them accepting payment, but it is simply so much cheaper than telephone service. I can also talk to my father in Iraq everyday for free as he has the same program on his computer.

There is better now and a much better one coming please stand buy.....
one is beta form and I love the ring tone..LOL just for that I got this new one. ;)

Skype like Kazza I really do not like the idea It could be sold again and then everything will go downhill from there. These guys are real good for their programing, but I cannot trust them for what they have done in the past.

Too bad.

You are comparing Kazaa to Skype? How are they even similar?

And you say "there is better now and much better coming", what are you talking about?

I have attempted to use several different telephony systems and Skype is by far the most affordable and reliable.

Net2Phone is the one people really need to avoid.

Thanks for the info Dei Gratia. I was not aware that the same people who created Kazaa created Skype. Learn something new everyday.
