No matter how much you e-mail and phone talk with someone you've met online, when you finally meet for that "first date",99 times out of 100, it starts to seem like a job interview with all the questions going back and forth. This got me to thinking-What's the dumbest question you've ever been asked on a first date? It's hard for me to narrow it down to just one, but here goes:"If we became a couple,would it be ok if I still went out with my ex once a week?". Never have I ended a date as fast as I did this one. The next day, she had the audacity to call me, wondering when we were going out again! P.S.: We didn't(as if I needed to add that-LOL).

I could go on ad naseum. While none of them are really that "dumb" not really the type of question that leads to conversation. Or the real clincher......"sooo...tell me about yourself"...UGH. That's the worst!
EDIT: I've been tempted to answer so tell me about yourself..."Well my mom and dad liked each other a lot so one night........hahaha

One guy, who couldn't stop bringing his ex into the conversation, actually asked me how the 'change' was affecting me!...I looked at him, laughed, and asked if he was talking about what I thought he was...and yes, he was, lol. Since that hasn't been an issue, that's all I said...he then went on to talk about how his ex has been a raving lunatic during that time...needless to say, that was our one and only meeting, lol, more because of the ex talk than anything else.

" I hope you're joking..or maybe you hadn't considered that the reason that some exes are..is that well...they have a different version of what the "truth" is. That honesty isn't something they could get their heads around? Maybe not your experience, but many are exes because they've lied. It's happened to me, so yes, I wouldn't have any problem with it, if they would tell the honest truth. Two words that some have no clue about.

"Do you mind if I take this call?" And then she went on to talk for nearly 10 minutes, judging by the way the convo was going it had to be a friend. Needless to say after dinner was done it was time to go. I couldn't believe she just sat there chatting while I was sitting there waiting to finish this "1st" date and make a go of it, basically ignored for the whole 10 min of her casual conversation with her friend. Unbelieveable nerve.

LOL well I have to laugh the dumbest comment I ever had on a date happened one day when I was caught in a rain storm on a way to a resteraunt. My date was inside oblivious to the weather outside.

I came in driping wet from a down pour and apologized to my date for being late. She took one look at me dripping there and said "How did you get wet ?"

I said with a straight face "I ran through a car wash chasing a monkey who had stole my car keys."

Bucsgirl...yep, *never* ask that question, ...and never say "It's okay to talk about your ex"... Though I have to admit, there have been times I wish I *could* have gotten the other side of the story...I have a feeling I might have ended up better friends with the ex than the guy But honest truth is always the best way to go.

Having conversation the fact I am jewish came up. Which is normal of course in the flow of getting to know one another and my date asked me - HOW CAN YOU BE JEWISH YOU DON'T HAVE A BIG NOSE ?

I would say the dumbest question ( and I have been asked this more than once...) was
"So, have you had any luck on these dating sites?"
The first time someone asked me that I truly didnt know how to answer him!
I mean, if I did have any luck, would I still BE here???

I have actually asked this question, but more in the context of that particular site and comparing funny stories of people you've met that didn't quite work out. I assume they are meeting more than one person as I am, and it's a good topic of conversation since it's where you both met. It also sort of gives me a good read of their personality - they could respond that all women are rude, or he's beating women off with a stick, or he's currently dating another 4 women he's interested in, or whatever.

I still like the guy who asked how well women's ovaries worked because his ex wife couldn't have children, so he divorced her and he wasn't about to waste any time on the next woman if she was barren. That dude was a real catch.

Yikes, I am "only"5'8" and I get the "tall" comment. lol... So many short men out there...hehehe.....I have been asked about all the things women listed on here. I started online dating about 4 years ago, and learned a lot fast!

I just couldn't believe how many dumbass men there was out there! They seem to want to know an awful lot of personal things right away. Once a man starts on any sexual questions as the ongoing topic, I stop the "connection" right away. If they are more centered on my body and not my personality, there IS NO connection! I make it CLEAR in my profile what I want and don't want. But then, the guy needs to READ the profile. lol

I had one man ask me tons of health related comments. He didn't want a woman "falling apart". Yet his teeth were falling out, he said he had to use viagra. He was balding with scabs on his head, overweight, had foot problems, arthritic, and as we talked, more and more of HIS health issues came up lol.. He said he usually only dated much younger women!! But because I looked so much younger he wanted to make sure I was in good health!!! I'm in GREAT shape for MY age (thanks to my genetics!)... He was a several years younger and HE was the one falling apart!!! hehehe... Do people even think before they open their mouths??

Same with the guys wanting to know all about MY finances... red flag!! lol.. usually THEY are either broke or terrified of a woman "taking them for all they got" ....Granted all these things are important. But health can fail anytime, finances are not secure anymore, looks fade, weight can be gained, etc. So LOOK in the HEART and SOUL....Those are the things that rarely change and can get you and your mate through about anything in life.

Usually overconcern about anything is a red flag....

Glad to see though, women here of all ages are getting the same comments as I have been the last 4 years. Good to know its not ME.. Hehehe.. (I knew it wasn't me, just having some fun.)

Heh well I admit the one time I got really upset on a date was when I dated an friend of the family.

We went out had a great time then as I was taking her home she ask me this great quetion

"You brother is so cute can you hook me up with him ?"

Didnt have the heart to tell her my brother thought she was too plain for him to date. so just said "He is seeing someone"
