Men, what makes you cry?Page 1 of 5    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
Yep, I am being a bit gender specific here..get over it.

Has the workplace or society finally crushed the once strong male ability to not show emotion? Do we feel the need to break down and cry on a female co workers shoulder when things don't go our way? Case in point: Buddy comes up and wants to know if his equipment will be ready in a few days, as he just got notice he got a new piece of equipment. (our job to set it up). When asked if the equipment was here, he said it wasn't. When asked when it would be here, he said he didn't know. "Pretty hard to give you an answer on when it will be ready now then won't it Bill Nye?"
After said buddy finishes crying (literally) on co-worker Barbie's shoulder about how mean we are to him, he files a formal complaint letter to the boss man on the level of service.

I said..(in my best Champ voice) "Pardon?"

Are we required to apologize here or have I completely missed something and this world has turned into a giant flower garden full of pansies?

Indifferent...

Well Raff, what else are we supposed to be? He hasn't brought us the equipment to put together, and he doesn't know when he is getting it....yet we are supposed to know if it is going to be ready by a certain day? "Why of course sir, it will be ready yesterday, because if we put instant coffee in the microwave we can go back in time."

This is definitely worth the wasted time and energy to go cry on a co workers shoulder...as well as the wasted energy to write a complaint letter.

Give us some variables, you might get a better answer.

Actually Sir R. I do believe that was a typo. He got a message saying he was getting new equipment. No dates were defined which was the whole problem. The question becomes, is it worth tears?

lmao

IL..those were the words for the forum...thoughts moreso....The actual conversation was more of an argument because the "assembly dept" as we will call it could not tell him if it would be ready or not. He got upset when he couldn't get an answer that it would be ready by the date or not. His responsibility to bring the equipment to the dept...not the dept's to go looking for him.

And yes, as Rus2 said...is this really worth tears?? (the point of the thread also) If the company deemed it that important that he have that said piece of equipment..one could only presume they would make sure it was there in time.

This isn't about the inner working of a company, or a company going belly up...lol...this is about one employee, because he had no information, and couldn't get an answer as a direct result of it...going and crying (again literally) on someone's shoulder. Then taking the time to write up a complaint, because they(he) couldn't supply the info necessary for an answer.

<div class='quote'>as he just got notice he got a new piece of equipment. (our job to set it up). When asked if the equipment was here, he said it wasn't. When asked when it would be here, he said he didn't know.

^I thought that read pretty straight forward.

I should probably further add, I am relaying this story from a friend of mine....who had to deal with the actual situation..(the "our" becomes his)..but I feel his pain...and thought it should be shared.

lol..yes. You are correct. (IL)

But seriously, can you not see the absurdity of it all? The guy wants an answer, but cannot supply the variables...then cries when he doesn't get it...and my original question...is this what makes us cry now?? Guess maybe I grew up different....I thought it pretty funny.

-edit^Rus2...don't go hurting my last feeling.

The guy sounds like someone who is SUPPOSE to be in charge of something because he was given a title and EXPECTS people to respect him because, well, he has title. I have no problem answering stupid questions with a sarcastic stupid answer. It's all the guy deserved. He basically showed his true colours running and whining to his superiors instead of trying to solve the problem HIMSELF, which, more than likely was his job.
As long as I have been alive, there have ALWAYS been cry babies, male and female. Don't get what they want, lay down, and whine. Kinda like a spoiled child. And just like a spoiled child, there are ways to cure his problem.

Hey BC folks, I know I'm trespassin but y'all are so cool I hafta once in awhile...

Did ya know that the content of the tears you cry peeling onions is different than tears caused by emotion? There are more toxins in the emotion-linked ones. Isn't that somethin??!

oooooh I just dripped chocolate ice cream on my white t shirt....WAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

I cried on the weekend when my best friend was able to communicate with us after about 2 weeks in a coma. She is only able to blink yes or no, but it was the fact that we know that she is ok and able to understand us. I have never been so overcome by such emotion, I was so happy.

cutting onions.

Actually I'm kind of a wuss, I get teary-eyed over all kinds of stuff. If any powerful emotional scene (even a happy one) occurs doing a movie I usually feel the tear glands working overtime. Its pathetic. My friends have the noble duty of harassing me about it whenever possible.
