Brazil announces new oil reserves

AMERICA has lots of Oil too. Unfortunately Enviromental wacko policies have made us dependant on foreign oil. OOPS.

In Alaska, the Pipeline built for oil reserves for 20 years in now past 25 years with no end in sight. Another pool of oil near the pipeline has been discovered which should add a minimum of another 25 years to the flow of oil in the pipeline.

Off the Gulf coast there is lots of oil. So much that Cuba is allowing China to drill for it. US Policy prohibits US companies from drilling there. But it is okay for Chinese to drill in the exact same spot. We know how well they are making toys laced with lead and date-rape drugs. I am sure the enviromentalist are happy that the Chinese are drilling. I expect to see Chinese oil spills everywhere.

Off California there is lots of oil too, but oil rigs would spoil the view. (??!!) So be happy and pay that 4 bucks a gallon of gas for foreign oil, when there is plenty right here.

Remember in the 1930's to 1950's, the US was an OIL EXPORTING country.

Yes America has oil. Unfortunately Governmental policies make it difficult to drill for it and worse yet to refine it. America has not built a new refinery in almost 40 years. Oil Companies went to the Persian Gulf for oil because it is almost seeping out of the sand. Lots easier to drill for and lots easier to make big profits.

Chavez is ruining his country's oil production, by not investing in upkeep. Soon his wells and refineries will break down and that will further increase oil prices. But Chavez does not care, he just wants quick bucks to fund his military to keep his people down.

Plus the big trucks take Diesel, not gasoline, so that is like comparing apples to oranges, but I like your thought process. American runs on our Interstate Trucking fleets.

Sorry mfrotyl:
America USED to have oil. Now it has multi-national oil companies.
There are a few pockets still producing, Alaska, the Gulf of Mexico...still a little bit left
in Texas. That's pretty much it.

If overseas imports were curtailed for any reason, the US would
slide into into anarchy sooner than you might think.
You think the price of fuel is high now? Just wait.
If the current admin continues on its present course, you haven't
seen anything yet.

Blockage of the Straits of Hormouz anyone?
Certainly Iran has no intention of cutting off its nose to spite its face, but if attacked
may resort to such tactics.

Be happy a comparative ally has discovered these new fields, hopefully
they will be reasonable and give the US everything they want.
Really though, it's not a large enough discovery to invade over.

Besides, with all the US has cooking right now, I'm not convinced
they could do it.
