If you are a middle aged man .Page 1 of 7    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)
If you are a middle aged man, and your profile says " man age 45 looking for women between the ages of 18 and 45", do you relly think woman your age, or around your age would want to date a man looking for women that young? And do you relly think women that young would want to date a man your age? Come on, show some class. That is one of the first things I look for in a man's profile.

No Chris I do not.
I think it's just a matter of not setting their parameters. I could not imagine going with a mid 20's or for that matter, mid 30's woman. I do see and I read about in the forum posts, May/December relationships. It's not for me. I wouldn't even want to go back to that age. There are benefits to being "middle aged" as you say.

Some men have their preferences, and put them on their profile. Whether or not they get 'hits' from the younger age group is basically a matter of luck. They are hoping they can find a younger woman looking for an older man.

I am more realistic. I know I would be much better suited to someone in my age group.

I have no age preference in my profile because I chat too much in the forums.

I could be wrong, but I guess your post is based on trying to contact someone you were interested in, and you were excluded because of his age restriction. The way I see it, it would be his loss.

Maybe he will wise up someday.. maybe..

One interesting fact is that in your example his upper limit is his own age - which does indeed suggest that he is looking for someone younger and excludes someone who might only be a few months older than him. In my case I completely avoided that parameter because of the forums and general chat - only filtered drugs and sex for good taste and avoiding spam.

I am a middle-aged man and there would be no chance of me going after a 30-year-old, let alone an 18-year-old.

That's just downright creepy and, you're right Chris, it shows a considerable lack of class.

Any middle aged man who can pull an 18 year old has got game. I mean, if you're 45, a 40 year old woman would practically start chasing you on her own; a 20 year old, now that takes serious skills. But if he's just wanting that 18 year old and not getting her, that's kinda sad too.

Well Chris, I dated a woman 14 years older than myself who had the class and maturity of an 18-year-old, does that count?

Age is a number. No, I'm not looking for an 18-year-old girl (my girl who passed away last year was ten years older than I am)...but now that I am single would I exclude someone in their twenties who is more mature than many women in their forties? No, I would not.

Would I care what you think of me because of that? No, I would not.

If a relationship with someone younger is not right for you, that's fine...but it's judgemental of you to assert that someone else who does so has no class.

Hmmmm....would I rather date someone with no class, or someone who is judgemental? That sounds like a tie.

As to your profile, YOU MIGHT TRY LAYING OFF THE USE OF "ALL CAPS" because on the Internet, this is the equivalent of shouting.

A 58 year old man at work just married his 21 year old GF. You should hear how much b1tching goes on about it. That really p1sses off most women.
They seem very happy together. What's the big deal?

I am 44 and i try to stay within a 10 year age span either way from my age. But the older women are what i prefer. I do not need to be a baby sitter with the younger women.

Heh. My last relationship she had 2 kids. She was 29, going on 30. Acted like she was 14. I didn't mind the idea of helping raise her 2 kids, but there was no way I was going to raise 3 kids on my own.

18? You've got to be kidding. Heck, even into the mid-20's the level of life experience is too great for me to feel like they're a "partner". For one thing, EVERYONE below 25 seems to think "Oh, I'm very mature for my age!". No, you aren't. And in a few years when you grow up a little more, you'll figure out that you aren't and weren't "very mature for your age".

On a slightly different note, I'm not middle aged - I'm very young for my age ;)

Ya know OP----IF any of us here were foolish enough to take everything posted in someone's profile we'd be wasting our time. Just as SOME men have vast age ranges of interests there are an equal number of women who do the exact same thing. In the case of women seeking or open to younger ages they have sex that is highly sought after. In most cases if sex alone is a mans goal then the age of the other participant isn't an issue.

Men who say they're open to women much younger than themselves are not necessarily looking for or seeking any one age range----they're simply letting it be known IF someone "much younger" is interested they're welcome to make contact, etc. We don't know and don't relly (LOL) care how this openness or preference is viewed by women closer to our own age----we've already mostly eliminated that range due whatever reasons or experiences. I'm guessing a guy who does look for younger is hoping and wishing they don't have the same bitter, jaded and know-it-all attitudes so many of the "older women" exhibit. Why some women have become this way is not our concern and almost certainly never our individual doing so we don't want to "suffer" being the fall guy for past injuries some women have experienced.

I fail to see how an age preference in a man's profile that doesn't suit YOU isn't showing class-----do we assume the same thing with women as well now too? Being open to something means just that------we'd be willing to at least consider someone based upon more than their birthdays. FWIW I am somewhat recently out of a 6 year LTR where she was 22 years younger---and it was HER who picked me up! Of course, I've always been open to women of ANY age and have dated from 17 years older to various ages of younger. I never sought any one particular age but being willing to see how it would go has always served me well.

If you don't like someones profile move along and find someone who meets YOUR requirements----I'm sure that's easy for you? LOL

I don't date women who do the same... so, for me, it's not a concern. the opportunity has been there several times but I prefer (always have) women close to my age. Unfortunately, because I don't date these type women i find the dating pool is very limited.

I won't judge the woman for dating younger men. However, I set parameters in order to define the type person I want to be with. Dating a person who jumps all over the place (in respect to age) is not really focussed on much as far as a long term relationship is concerned..... weekend relationships are easy to attain.

I'm 54 and only here for the forums and perhaps some chat. Have my age limit set from 18 to 100......guess I must be another of those men with "no class"!

There are many young men who have contacted me, and I seriously do not think I would have much in common with them.

In 2007 the youngest woman I dated was 19 and the oldest was 46 (I'll be 46 next month). I had fun with both of them and they both came back for more. Why shouldn't I date women I have fun with? Who cares about age?

Part of me wants to respond with "What's it to you?"

By the same token, my range is set to 25-40, I think? Does that mean I can't receive mail from a 24 year old or a 41 year old?

If so, I need to reset some of those preferences, because I've met some great people here beyond both ends of that spectrum.

As mentioned by others, I've met some 25 year olds that are intelligent, well spoken, well traveled and have a boatload of common sense. Conversely there's been a few in their 40's that possess none of the above.

What does that have to do with other people?

Nothing.

I am ok with whom ever any body would like to date, I was just trying to understand what men think and why? Isn't that what this forum is all about? Most women would not even consider dating a man 20 years younger. (Men are from mars and Women are from Venus)

And do you relly think women that young would want to date a man your age? Come on, show some class. That is one of the first things I look for in a man's profile.
==================================
So cliched.

"class"
" real men"
"gentlemen"
"first thing I look for"

Just becuse its the first thing YOU look for it does'nt mean its the first thing every women looks for. As for the other cliches well. Those are normmally rattled about by women who have no class at all.

If you are really trying to score a date m dear then quit slandering the guys who include 18 year olds. In fact quit slandering the guys full stop. Wayyyy too negative.
You want a date? You show the guy that you are better than any 18 year olf.

Women reach their best age in their late thirties and early forties. They have wisdom and stability and know what they want and how to get it. I went through my "younger" woman phase and nothing compares to the women of 30's and 40's.

You get something from them that no 20 year can give... maturity and common sense.

Sorry to nitpick, Chris, but

I am ok with whom ever any body would like to date

is directly, 180 degrees at odds with

Come on, show some class.

As far as

Most women would not even consider dating a man 20 years younger.

...are you sure about that? Have you personally asked most women? Do you have any data that support that statement?
