Wow, our team is going on a shopping trip. Look guys as good as Kerry was or WAS NOT, (like at the Grey Cup, was he there??? way to nervous to play), it is not all that bad. Change is part of the game. He is up in age. An injury and then what? We would be up the field without much???

When Eric informed us I thought, not a bad move. It seems money, money and yes more money is what a decison these days! It is sometimes more about the bottom line than the talent. We will survive. After all we were at the top, where can we go from here!!!

Everyone has an opinion and I look forward to yours.

I don't know if trading Joseph was really such a bad move.

I believe his contract will expire after next season, and at that time he'd be likely to seek a more lucrative salary, and the Riders would recieve nothing in return.

By trading him now, after he's had the best season of his career, the Riders are able to get something in return for him. The acquirement of 2 players from Toronto will fill vacanct starting positions on both the offensive and defensive lines.

Also, if the league salary cap wasn't an issue, the Riders mayave been more willing to retain Joseph.
But when there's a limited amount of money that must be spread among all players, it maybe doesn't make too much sense to overpay an aging quarterback, when money may be better spend by spreading it around to ensure talent at all positions.

Ah Jack, that is not a good attitude. Cannot win every year or five in a row. Life of the sports world. Beleive me I know. There is never any security or solid predictions of who will win.Look at the Super Bowl outcome.

Well my prediction make me some green, I took tNY to win the Super bowl, They beat Tampa/ The Cowboys/and the Packers.Reminds me of the thSuperbowl Champs, The steelers. a wild card team, Won all there games on the Road, just like the NY, never write any team off. As far as Kerry being traded to Toronto. We got in return, a very good offensive lineman/ D linemen. and a 1st round pick in the Canadian draft.Ithink Kent Austin and also Ron Langcaster said the same thing, We have a young QB named Drew Tate, among a few other qb's coming up, out with the old, in with the new. section 204 rocks

Crandel is not out guy....he sucks...
Jiles from Edmonton....really really sucks..

Everyone thinks Tillman is this really really smart guy.....WRONG!....
He did not win the Grey Cup....Past Management who put the players in place....

Now if anyone thinks that Jiles or Crandel are good.....LOL.....
But I do like Durant...He is a bit stiput at times....but young to learn from his mistakes. And when is someone going to realize that we have to pay money for a QB!

We are done for this year....DONE LIKE PIE!...
Too many injuries, and there is no way we can bounce back!....
BUT! the future does hold promise....which in past years there was no hope..

OH! By the the way ET.....FIND A PUNTER! that can punt into the wind...and when kicking into the wind....Maybe mention that hang time is important!

GO RIDERS GO.....
YOu ET! have not impressed me yet!....if you can make a decision to trade KJ then you should of realeased Matts.....Everyone in the country knew he was one hit away from ending his carrear!...Could of saved some salary cap! and kept KJ!

I have to disagree
while Crandel might not be an Calvillo, KJ was not the guy either.
watched a game where KJ marched the ball down using some new reciever, this kid is doing everything to catch and make yardage short of throwing the ball himself, get to First and goal - Surprise! KJ calls his own number and hotdogs into the endzone with a front flip, that was not needed.
Sorry i did not really like KJ last year, and don't like him anymore this year either - the fact he plays somewhere else, only makes me like him less.
The riders have a deeper core than people are giving them credit for, so I think they have a better chance than people are going to give them credit for.
Yes offensive injuries are going to hurt the Riders, but won't stop them!

I'd agree with you if you were talking Al Ford winning the Cup with Bill Baker's team.

About the only thing I'd agree with you on is that Tillman didn't win the Cup... the Saskatchewan Roughriders won the Cup. Tillman was just a part of it, and he brought in the key people needed to make the Riders a championship team. Shivers and Barrett's only goal during their entire 7 year tenure was just to get a home playoff game. Maybe if they had demanded more from the talented players they had they could have won. That's why Tillman has 4 Grey Cups as a GM and Shivers has none. He knows simply gathering talent does nothing if you never get the most out of your players.

YOu ET! have not impressed me yet!

And he probably never will. Quarterback threw for 8,000 yards and 92 touchdowns? "Yeah, but he threw 3 interceptions! What kind of idiot can't even find players wearing the same jersey?" Defence had 72 quarterback sacks? "Yeah, but they allowed an average of 54 yards rushing per game! Where were they when the backs were shooting the gap? Chasing down a quarterback that didn't have the ball! Morons!" Team won the Grey Cup? "So what! Every team has won the Grey Cup! Come back when they win the Super Bowl!" Some fans just like to complain. Unfortunately I think 90% of the fans like that belong to the Roughriders.

I watch every rider game at home and when I get a chance to go and see it live I will. But after winning the cup last year there has been alot of band waggon jumpers going to the games just to party because we are winning. I see this whole thing happen when I was living in Calgary and the flames went to the finals.
This issue at the last Calgary game is a disgrace. They are talking about stopping the rider pre game party in the ball diamond because of these over intoxicated idiots.

WOW!! Hardly any comments on this thread!!

"sleepsalone" I hope you have not given up too!

As a "removed" Saskatchewanian, I too watch for responses and comments...

So here we are:

Last game of the regular season has been WON!! In small part thanks to Don Matthews decision to "surrender" the game with less than a minute left and the game was tied...HOW MANY OF YOU , KNOWLEDGEABLE CFLers , THINK THAT DON MATTHEWS WAS SENDING WALLY BUONO A MESSAGE???

So the destiny of a Home Playoff spot sits in the hands of a "hot" Calgary Stampeder club who have nothing but bragging rights to play for! If they shlump it, I hope both clubs experience some injuries that, no matter how bad, would pale in comparison to what the Riders experienced this year!

And how about those Saskatchewan boys???? HUGHES! FOORD!! Good job fellas!! Getzlaff ! I know your Dad! He's going to kick your azz for the mistakes you made last night!

Comments early in this thread "dissed" Tillman ! He was being given no credit for last year's Grey Cup win.

Let me say this.....as a Commentator, I don't think there ever was one I found more irritating...and that stupid brush cut red hair just made it worse.....but Rider fans as a G.M> the guy so far is genius! I am serious.....12-6 this year...well positioned to go all the way....Tillman hired a coach (albeit not perfect), who in his rookie year has showed composure to keep this team together inspite unheard of adversity. (And Richie Hall you are defensive Guru!!)

No One! & I MEAN NO ONE!!! gave them a chance of making the playoffs this year!

Quite frankly, I am more proud to be a Rider Fan this year than even last when they won the Cup! The tenacity, the coming to aid of their team mates in adversity, the determination and the Never Give Up attitude has epitomized what being from Saskatchewan is all about! ....anything else now is a bonus!!

Go Riders! Go Saskatchewan!

Lastly....I wonder when the citizens of Toronto, Ottawa and in part B.C will EVER GET IT?? Get and appreciate what we have here!!!

The REGULAR Season can now be announced as officially OVER.

Saskatchewan finishes 2nd in the West! Frankly I am still in pleasant shock.....I truly thin they deserved it more than B.C. However, even if they can lay B.C. and Wally (BONER ) Guano on their back....they can only hope that Calgary Stamps comesout FLAT in two weeks.....but Huffy....ain't no rooky to playoff football....Hell! He was in part responsible for winning the Riders a Grey Cup! Frankly, the way I saw their Back-up Q'backs wipe the field today with Lion carcasses.....they are a bit frightening!! BUT they are beatable!!

Bombers finish 2nd in the East ....cheer!! Congrats on finishing the regular season on a winning note....Edmonton may not be as happy as they thought they would be by going into the cross over.....The Bombers are a better team than their season record shows....if I was Berry I would remind the players that they could hardly ever expect in their playing careers THIS CLOSE to going to Grey Cup.....not an easy task but both Montreal and Edmonton are VERY beatable.

Another Bomber / Rider Grey Cup? Well stranger things could occur but most them went by already at Halloween!

WOW! WHAT A SEASON!!!

NEWS FLASH!! NEWS FLASH!!

So you think the CFL is boring? Lacking character??

Well here is one for you.

Michael Bishop, the quarterback of the Saskatchewan Rough Riders is a fox!!

Well maybe not quite really...but he is related to one!
Namely, Jamie Foxx! Jamie Foxx's real name is Eric Marlon Bishop and is the first cousin to none other than my favorite team's lead quarterback ( I still don't trust his inconsistent arm).
And guess what else? One of the MOST FAVORITE PAST TIMES of southern Americans including Texans (which where Michael and Jamie come from) is
.......

Well we'll see what happens with Burris. This might be the year, but he's been known to become his alter ego (Frank) in the playoffs. After their first game of the season, I thought Calgary might be the team to beat this year. Their mid-season struggles threw me off for a while, but they've regained the form they had at the beginning of the year that scared me.

I dunno... I just think we match up better defensively against Calgary's offense. As long as we can make it through BC, I think we've got a good shot. We're just going to have to control the line of scrimmage when we play the Lions. Get the running backs up the middle so there will be more room on the outside for Bishop to scramble on a few play actions. I know Calgary caught on to it in our rematch, but BC is a lot more aggressive than Calgary. They take the chances to make the big plays at the line and end up giving up big plays down field. With Flick, Fantuz, and Dominguez (or is Matt out again?) back, the Lions aren't going to be able to stop the deep plays by simply double covering Dressler and sending the house on Bishop. We've now got more than one receiver who can get open.

It's funny too... we were talking at work today about how many Saskatchewan players there are in the CFL right now. You've got 7 from Regina (Getzlaf, Hughes, Foord, Srochenski, Woldu, Flory, and Clermont), 5 from Saskatoon (Makowsky, Piercy, Guebert, Bell, and Maurer), 2 from Moose Jaw (Schultz and Barker), 1 from Caronport (Rempel), 1 from Humboldt (Bates), and 1 from Weyburn (Labatte). I don't know if that's got all of them, but I'm sure it's pretty close. Per capita, I'd say we're fairly well represented.

Well lets do this on a per capita comparison....

Then that means Toronto ...no not all of Ontario...only Toronto should have about 40 Canadian Players contributed.....I am not sure there are even that many total Canadian Players in the CFL...lol

That certainly is a piece of trivia worth noting....

Now tell me how many Saskatchewanians are playing in the NFL...I know of one for sure.....and how many Canadian are totally playing down there?

The rider to beat the Lions and the Stamps back to back....what are the chances?

Listen ! I think the only thing that will get them through that miracle ...not to say they are not good enough......is MAKING THEM BELIEVE.....like they have done all year....but not only BELIEVE IN THEM SELVES...but BELIEVE THAT THE FANS EXPECT NO MORE THAN WHAT THEY HAVER ALREADY MIRACULOUSLY DONE and BELIEVE THAT THE REST OF CANADA DOES NOT GIVE THEM A HOPE IN HELLO!

If B.C and Calgary are pressure to win because they are expected to......add that to a little home field advantage....( Calgary is pretty much half full of Rider fans).....Riders are on their way!!!

Yeah, it didn't take long for Jon to get scooped up. But as for how many Canadians:

http://www.nflcanada.com/News/2008/09/02/6636181.html

Not really that great of numbers, but let's face it... how many NFL scouts actually come to Canada to look for talent in the first place? Most of them don't even take 3-down football seriously, so unless there's a lot of hype about a player (say like Jesse Lumsden), most of them aren't even going to pay attention to the CIS. I don't think Canadian players have as much chance anyway until University athletics programs catch up to those in US colleges. We need our universities to offer better training programs.

I think the only thing that will get them through that miracle ...not to say they are not good enough......is MAKING THEM BELIEVE

I don't think they have to believe anymore. It's now a fact. They are champions and they know it.

We're ready to compete with the likes of Calgary and B.C. because we've finally got the winning attitude that they've had for years. You can feel it throughout the entire organization. There are no excuses. This is a football club that takes to the field expecting to win every game. I think the only tougher thing than winning these games would be convincing those guys that anything less than another Grey Cup title is acceptable. They're not ready to climb down off that mountain just yet.

THis is it friends!

The is the highlight of the 2008 CFL Season!

No margin of error. A win and we keep hopin for Championship....a loss and we are watchin with cordial interest at best.

I don't know about you but I don't want to be watchin my favorite off all sports with a "I really don't care who wins" attitude. I am not quite ready to go into sport after shock ...unwillingly having to accept "there is always next year".

Oh some of you may say to me, "well at least you are doubling your chances by being a split Bomber/Rider fan" That is true! But I also am taking the chance of a double PAIN should they both lose.

No! No ! NO!!!!!! I can't bear the thought. It is unthinkable! Unacceptable!

Go! Bombers! Go!.....Go! Riders! Go!

Today and tomorrow we must all basgue in the glory of wins!!

Well Congratulations to Wally Boner and the B.C. Lions.

They came with both a Defence and Offence and added a Quarterback. They deserved to win.

Calgary will kick their arses next week! With a former Saskatchewan Quarterback.

Oh and the same congratulations to the little dough boy Ma Chocha La Cacaroacha and the Eskimos! At least the Bombers made a game of it. And The Bombers should be congratulated for bringing together their team from catastrophe to some respect.

As for the Riders?? I already have commented that they went far beyond what was expected already....The should hold their heads up with pride. Rider fans deserve better but are used to this scenario.

Focus now on getting a decent stadium.....pray we do not lose Richie Hall.

The rest is all about making good football judgement calls in the off season for players. There are some players who need to be traded for...some to trade away....some new blood to be brought in.....I don't know the players well enough to know who should retire. I am pretty sure Bishop has seen his last days in the CFL. Its too bad as it would have been nice to have Jamie Foxx perform at Mosiac Stadium at half time...oh well.

So to each and everyone of you who cheered till it hurt....spent a fortune on gas and beer.....I have this one last cliche to share:
THERE IS ALWAYS NEXT YEAR !!! Have a Great One!!!

OK, NOW I am pissy!
Waht the ***K was Tillman thinking letting Ritchie Hall walk away?
if the Riders have ONE thing that is stable/dependable and arguably the best in the CFL year after year it is the defense, now the defensive cooridinator is the esks new head coach?????
I wonlt be cheering for the esks, but this is gonne make me re-think......
