The Koch Brothers - The Burns Twins In Reality, Evil Incarnate

The Koch brothers don't care what we think of them-they are so rich, they don't live in our world, we live in theirs. Not to broadcast, but check out the PBS doc "Park Avenue", talks a lot about the Koch's influence over American policy.

Bullying Acceptable!?
Posted: 11/18/2012 3:59:56 PM
A lot of people have confused rude/mean behavior as 'bullying'. Bullying is systematic and ongoing-it interrupts and interferes with your ability to function, perform tasks and enjoy life. The bully goes out of their way to continuously comment/ridicule and degrade you. For example, if the person who sent you the email was following you around on the forms, making snarky comments about your size, insulting you-that would be bullying.
While what happend to you was mean, it is far from being bullied.

Stressed men prefer bigger women?
Posted: 8/11/2012 7:57:09 PM
The thing I don't get, is that they say the men choose a woman with a higher BMI when they are in a situation that causes stress. I am 5' 6", and wear a size 7. By most standards, I am on the small side of average. My BMI is most likely much higher than, say, Kate Moss. Did these men choose a BMI that is considered obese, or did they just move up the average scale a bit? Were the original BMI preferences underweight? How do we know that the choices under stress were not related to color of hair, or hair length or eye color, and the increased BMI was just a fluke?

I find your profile kind of vague, and 'financially generous' might sound off warning bells to many men.

Can size not matter for once?
Posted: 8/11/2012 2:10:10 PM
I think you are really cute, and you seem to have a lot of interests, but you say you don't want size to matter, yet you mention weight loss a lot. This isn't a crticism, but if you want to attract men who don't care about size/weight, you shouldn't seem like you care about it yourself. Focus on who you are at the present, not who you would like to be/will be in the future. Really, you seem like a good catch, regardless of your size.

Question on the Efficacy of Derision and Disprespect

The worst is when it is a female public figure, then the insults aren't even about perceived intellectual or moral shortcomings. The insults are always about looks and/or weight. For example, calling Hillary Clinton 'her thighness'.

@ Vlad,
please read a post before commenting. I never stated that I believe in majority rule, I was pointing out the fact that there is a huge ideological difference between democratic rule and mob rule.
In Canada, you can not refuse to provide goods or services based on sexual orientation.
US governance, US constitution, US gun controll really have no relevance here at all.

Human rights atrocities in Canada?
Posted: 6/27/2012 4:40:14 PM
There is no such thing as 'race' it is a social construct, and I was using it in that sense-that the French are a separate and distinct society, and it was a response to your thinly veiled accusations of prejudice. Many french speaking citizens are also fed up with this s&it, read La Presse, or Richard Martinault, if you read french.
Bill 78 does not limit your right to manifest-you just have to give 24hr notice of your route- you know parades have to give way more notice, and need to file for special permits. When you have almost nightly protests that block city streets, do you not think that it is good for emergency vehicles to know where they can get through and where they can't?
Since you can't read, let me point out that I never said that the nude protesters only happend once- I pointed out that the nude protesters were protesting the 'sexism' of the Grand Prix. Get it? That's why they were nude.

But, keep getting indignant about something you know nothing about, since you seem to find your own ignorance 'just great'.

I already stated that I am not opposed to tuition hikes, and that I do not support the strike, nor do I support the protesters.

I don't see the point in sacrficing quality education for affordable education.

Nor do I expect the checkout person at my local market to foot the bill for my education.

Post-secondary education is not a right.

Your accusations towards me of racism would be insulting, but you have so little knowledge of the situation in Montreal, that it is laughable.
I guess you think it's ok that I have to pay higher tuition in Quebec than french speaking foreign nationals.

Dog Park Pet Peeves?
Posted: 6/27/2012 12:36:56 PM
Dog parks have a minimum age for children in the park, dogs play rough, and I agree, when I take my dog to the dog park, I should not have to worry about small children.
Furthermore, dogs behave differently in a large group, than they do on their own. There are many fights in dog parks, ask at any emergency vet service. Dog parks are neither safe nor sanitary for small children.
I once was chewed out (pardon the pun) because my dog lifted it's leg on a stroller.
If your child is still in a stroller, it is too young to be in the dog park.

Has anyone ever noticed there is always a (self) appointed king/and/or queen of the dog park? Someone who is always trying to organize/invent their own set of rules and regulations to impose on the other users? This bugs the s*it out of me.
Plus, except for a few people I have met, I hate dog park conversations. Sorry, but where I live, the dog parks are clique-y, and the patrons can be really pretentious.
I pefer to take my dogs down to the beaten path beside the StLaurence seaway. No fights, lots of nature and clean.

Human rights atrocities in Canada?

Cry foul all you want travel, you are still misinformed. A comission to discuss tuition increases (they were frozen in Quebec for a while) was set up a few years ago. Student groups were invited and encouraged to participate, and let their views be known. They flat out refused to participate, as they stated that they rejected any fee increase. So, you are the one spouting BS.As for negotiations after the protests began, it was impossible, as there was no coheisive objective. One group wanted free tuition, one wanted a new freeze on increases, one wanted fiscal responsibility from the universities, etc...
BTW, the nude protesters were against the 'sexist' display of women during the Grand Prix, not fee increases. Frankly, the idea that women don't have the right to get paid to wear a bikini, is one of the most repressive, sexist displays I've ever seen. Plus, you should have seen the way this mob harassed and intimidated the car models, it was sick. Imagine you are a young woman, essentially alone in a bathing suit, trying to make a few bucks, and a rude angry mob, are surrounding you and yelling slurs and insults.

Do you really want to get indignant? Since I am studying at an English university, my tuition is higher than at a French institution. Furthermore, here in Quebec, foreign students who are from french speaking countries, if they study at french Universities, pay in- province fees, not foreign student fees. Therefore, I pay higher tuition than french speaking foreign nationals, in my own province, and my tax dollars(and your's, btw) subsidize their studies.

For the past few YEARS ( no joke), the Government have tried to engage student groups in the process of fee increases, and they have flat out refused. They did not want to negotiate, they wanted their own 'Arab spring'.

The mob have only themselves to blame for the police intervention, their behavior and tactics have held the people of Montreal hostage.

Furthermore, the only people profiting from this strike, are a handful of student 'leaders' who are making a name for themselves in the media.

Sorry Wanttotravel, I live, work and study in downtown Montreal, and you don't. While I am not a fan of the police, you should see the unedited version of what went on during these protests.
Perhaps you didn't hear about the smoke bombs in the metro? Or the blocking of bridges?
Plus there is a group that calls themselves the black masks. They purposely show up at large demonstrations, with 'arme blanche', and they are nothing but a bunch of 'casseurs'.
Why don't you comment on something you know about.

We didn't strike at McGill, and I am not opposed to paying higher tuition.
The bill 78 kerfuffle is a tempest in a teapot, really what's so awful about having to give your 'manif' route, unless you intend to block emergency vehicles, or impede people from going to work. Furthermore, people in a protest who are wearing masks are scary, there is no need to cover your face, unless you are planning to do something illegal. I saw one guy with his face covered who was carrying a sledge hammer.
I was walking my dogs one night, and got caught in one of these 'manifs', and when trying to get out, I was shoved, yelled at, and spat upon, and not one of these 'students' in the hundreds participating tried to help me.

What I am curious about, is the number of striking students who returned their student loan for the semester. I am sure most kept the money, spent it on something else, and will double dip to get more money to pay for the next semester, the semester they already received money for.

I never once wrote a personal insult, so you are the disingenuous one. Furthermore, you have not made one point explaining why Canadians should foot the bill for the entire bridge. You are the one resorting to personal insults and vulgar language.

The point is that a 'few' Canadians go to the US for healthcare, not enough for Canadian taxpayers to foot the bill for an entire bridge, nor is the bridge being built so Canadians can go to the US for healthcare.

Nobody's panties seem to be in a twist but yours, so do you have anything to say about the bridge, or do you just want to swear and be ignorant?

Frankly, you know nothing about our healthcare system, so your praise or critique of it is without merit.
The idea that a bridge would need to be built for Canadians flocking to the USA for medical procedures is the only " steaming pile of horseshit" I see here. As you have offered nothing in the way of proof, I assume that you are aware that your comment is meant only to insult and/or provoke other posters.
Furtheremore, I am not defensive, I am just tired of you turning every debate into a 'bad socialists' rant.

What is this?? The week of the Zombies??

I really have to say something about the Li situation, as most people do not understand how the system works for this type of situation.
Li will not be taking anti-psychotics in pill form. For this level of psychosis, you have weekly injections that are court mandated. If Li's injections are at 9:00 friday, if he is not there, a warrant is immediately issued for his arrest, and the police are actively looking for him. Furthermore, Li will most likely be injected with a muscle relaxant, and an anti seizure medication, as the level of anti psychotic he will be taking will induce a rigid paralysis. There is no way you can fake this type of illness, as an ordinary person taking Li's dose, would be in a chemical coma for days, whereas Li, on this dose, is functional.
Li's doctor is suggesting he take day trips into town, he is by no means suggesting his release.

Face-eating zombies!!
Posted: 6/1/2012 4:36:48 PM
Ok, I have to chime in here, as there are a lot of misconceptions:
1- Anthropologists have pretty much disproved the 'myth' of cannibal cultures. While many cultures have a ritual of consuming a small amount of human flesh as part of funerary rites, they by no means enjoy the consumption of human flesh. In fact, when tribes who perform this ritual were observed, the family members who were obliged to ingest a small amount of their deceased were obviously revolted, and many gagged. The image of half naked 'savages' dancing around a pot of human stew, is pure b.s, just another not so subtile way to denegrate and dehumanize non-whites.
2- Can anyone here give me the name of one culture that engages in eating the face of another human when they are still alive? You can't, so this thread has nothing to do with culture, so why bring it up?
3-Cannibailsm is a abberation in humans, and occurs only in situations of extreme distress, or in the case of severe psychological disorder.
