Profile cliches: My friends and family are important to me!

It's amazing how many beer drinking, sports watching, rock climbing, motorcycle riding, extreme sport doing, single mom's of toddlers are on P.o.F. .
I'm a single guy that makes his own hours and I don't have that much time.

How do guys like appreciation to be show to them?
Posted: 3/29/2010 11:08:56 AM
In my group of friends there is no need to say or do anything. Maybe its just us, but if we got a meal or a beer as a thank you every time we helped each other we would never leave the diner/bar.
As far as a partner goes, helping is part of the job description.

Posted: 3/28/2010 10:12:06 AM
Thanks everyone on the input so far.
Willys I couldn't agree more. This post is just a sounding board and a place to share tips and frustrations of losing the equivalent of another person. I'm doing what I'm doing for me and me alone. It's just nice to be able to blow off steam with others living it as well. I will lose it with or without another response on here but I think its good to have people to share with and vent with.
I take the weight loss seriously but it doesn't define me as a person. I joke about it and am very open with it.
To all my fat people out there, we will win. You may have great weeks and you may backslide others. Always remember you can lose some battles but still win the war.
Now CHARGE!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone,
I mix it up pretty good. I do the total gym every day but diffrent exercises. I also do martial arts and I spend a lot of time in the park trying to keep up with my psycho puppy. I tried a couple of support groups but there was no self responsibility with them. Always an excuse, I know I'm fat because of me and not because of the media or my mother. I know there is a lot of emotion involved with chronic overeating but at some point the individual has to accept the responsibility.
Down 4 more since original post the battle rages on.

Hey Everyone,
I'm in the process of losing 200 pounds. I've lost a hundred over the last two years.
Any kindred spirits out here? I'm just looking for some people walking this same path. I figure we could keep each other motivated and trade ideas and tips.
My friends are ok but they don't really get the struggle.
I know how to lose weight but I'm just looking for some camaraderie. Anyone out here interested?
I just got a Total Gym. It seems to great so far. I get my heartrate in my target range and my musceles are burning but no joint pain. Thats a major plus.
Thanks Everyone,

Well the gay thing does offer the advantage of doubling your wardrobe and never having to put down the toilet seat.
I'm all for any guy turning gay the way I see it, I move one more slot up in the rotation.

Once again I find myself here after a total and complete re-write. My last couple of profiles were fun and goofy but spring is in the air and I'm feeling the pull of the season.
This profile is a serious side of me I don't usually show. I just wanted to get some constructive feedback on this because I've never written my profile from a serious side before.
Thanks in advance,

You need different pics. You can swing the cost of a Vette you can swing the price of a digital camera. Skip the I don't have a job and say you're a student. Lose the part about cruising the mall lot with your stereo blasting, this sounds like you borrowed Dad's Vette and are picking up high school girls.
The rest isn't too bad. You come across as a decent guy but definitely change the things listed above.
Maybe ease up on the car too, I've had two Vettes and I'm restoring a 72 now. I know they can be addictive but alot of women don't want to compete with a car, ya dig.
Good Luck,

This has to be a joke profile. I refuse to believe I live less than ten minutes from you. If anything you wrote is true it troubles me we breath the same air. Don't put a pic up if this is serious because if I saw you walking down the street I predict sudden brake failure and I don't want to fill out the paperwork.

You want to know how to improve it? Lose this part...
(Hi ladies. As you already know im David and im the best guy you'll ever meet. Basically what I'm looking for is a girl to worship the ground i walk on (obviously) and who treats me like the god i am. She doesn't have to talk much (in fact it'd be better if she doesn't). My friends would describe be as an arrogant,****, condescending, and shallow and i agree with them. I know how great i am and i don't hesitate to tell people all about it. Basically im just looking for a girl who will always be there when i need her to be and go away when i don't. If this sounds like you send me a message and we'll make some sex. Just don't be all needy and check your baggage at the door )

Then go cross 22 on foot blindfolded.

Hey OP,
You know about the pics.
As far as the profile... Relax and have some fun with it. It reads like a suicide note. You're looking for love. That should be a journey full of laughter and fun. Celebrate the search don't mourn it. Enjoy yourself on your profile and others will respond positively to that.
Best of Luck on your search.

Hey OP,
Real quick... Get new pics. You only have the one and it sucks. Not being harsh it really does. I know alot of guys don't have a ton of pics laying around but you need to take some. Your pics are the opening move in the chess game that is PoF.
As far as your profile goes, loosen up. Have fun with it. As much as it is said here this isn't a resume. Don't list things ie. I am unique because...
Flesh out your interests and add some flair to the main body of the text.
Long and short, enjoy yourself on here. If you write your profile and first message from a fun spot in the brain it will transfer to the woman reading it.
Don't use the tips at the top. Be Yourself that's the best piece of advice in the world.
Check me out, fat, bald, and my profile is ridiculous but I'm meeting great people because I had a blast with it.
Just relax and have fun.
Good Luck

He pulled her over because she was driving under the speed limit on a clear night. Repeat d.u.i. drivers tend to be overly cautious and drive right at or a few miles under the speed limit. If you're ever in that type of situation call the precinct and ask if there are unmarked units in the area. Explain why you are asking. If there aren't they can send help, if there are, you can stay on the phone until you pull over and the officer ids himself. Pulling over a vehicle on a lonely road on a dark night is just as nerve racking for the officer. When you get stopped ask as many questions as you like just be polite and there won't be an issue.

Dude, I 've got to agree with everyone. I took one look at your pics and all I could picture was your neighbor on tv telling a reporter "He seemed so normal". Then you see the body bags coming out of the house. Have some fun loosen up. I know guys don't usually have a lot of pics of themselves but you need to get some.
Have some fun with your text.
Loosen up and you should do fine.

Thanks everyone,
I don't mind the kids comment. Kids have no internal censor and I understand that. I barely have one myself.
I just didn't like the fact the Mom looked at me like I just shit in her cereal.
I like kids and at 6' 400 lbs I'm used to the staring. I'm just never sure how to react without freakin the parents out.
I know how protective I am over my friends kids.
Thanks again for the advice.

I was in the market checkout today and this little kid 4/5 is bumping into me every thirty seconds. I look down and smile and the kid says "You're fat". I can't argue with his observational skills so I say "Thanks for noticing" and smile. The mother looks up just as I say this and stares at me like I stuck the kid in my back pack and tried to run. The whole time I'm checking out I hear her grilling the kid about what I said.
Was there a better way to handle this?

I saw a woman smash a deer with her car once. It was laying there and was way beyond saving. The woman was in hysterics so I put the animal out of its suffering. I didn't have my sidearm with me and had to use my hands. When she finally calmed down she told me she was a Ranger and had a rifle in her car. I almost had a stroke. I'll never understand the human species.

Is that a common occurrence? I've never been there. This isn't a self esteem thread. This is the humor section. That's why all the little smiley guys at the bottom of the original post. I'm proud of my stats that's why I posted them.

I'm about to go on a rant here of epic proportions concerning forum nazis and thread flamers so I'm going away now. I will say this, HUMOR SECTION, if you don't find it funny then read something else. I don't expect the world to find me funny or even .999999 of the people on here . I wrote this for the people that find me mildly amusing. Christ I feel like I'm in high school again on these forums. The only difference, I don't get to stuff the annoying people into lockers.

For the incredibly large number of amazing people I've met and the totally cool people I just haven't met yet. I'm sorry about this I'm just in the worst kind of mood right now.

A few of you people want a flame war? Bring it, but you better be wearing asbestos underwear.

New Profile.. am I getting it right or going over the top??!!
Posted: 3/9/2010 9:38:41 AM
Hey OP,
The profile wasn't bad except for the prior relationship part. Thats something best left for a serious conversation with someone you're intrested in.
Leave the rest, if this is really how you are. There are way too many forum nazis on here that want everyone's profile to be cookie cutter.
Write in your own voice and when someone answers your profile they'll be intrested in the real you.
The only other thing is leave the pics you've got and add 1 or 2 more.
Good Luck ,

The point I was trying to make was I didn't ask for a profile review they have a section for that. Although I have to say it's been interesting,
My original question was the one I was seeking an answer to. My feelings weren't hurt I've got thicker skin than that. Just having a pleasant conversation with a fellow fisherman.

Quick Question about profession
Posted: 3/7/2010 5:07:06 AM
Normally I let things go because I know I don't appeal to 95% of the women on here and that's fine. Every one's tastes are different, I respect that, but Kixxie you felt the need to flame me twice so I 'm assuming you need some kind of answer. Yes I'm trying to meet someone and the profile is screening out the sheeple. This was an unforeseen albeit pleasant surprise. I have a 45% return rate on the messages I sent out.
The people returning my messages are the type of people I'm looking for.
The pic of my eyes was because I've always been told they are my best feature.

The fact that you think I suck at humor is now causing me great mental distress. I'm glad you were here to help me see the error of my ways and I'm working on new material right now so your journey through the PoF forums can be more pleasant.

My original question was legit and thanks to all that gave constructive advice.

Quick Question about profession
Posted: 3/7/2010 1:35:24 AM
Hey everyone,
Thanks for the feedback on the question.
As far as the profile goes I initially put it up to amuse myself but oddly I'm getting a much better return than when I had my "legit" profile. I was going as far over the top as my little brain could take me. The only negative comments I've had from people who have returned my messages have been about the job. That's why I asked the question. I understand the pool is limited on who will find it funny but it cracked me up and that's what I was going for at the time. I have met some interesting people because of it.
Thanks for the feedback,
Brian

Quick Question about profession
Posted: 3/6/2010 8:27:25 PM
Hello,
I work as a surveillance specialist for a P.I. firm and I put that under my profession. I have heard from some of the people I've contacted that it sounds a little creepy and then I never heard from then again. Should I put I work in the legal field and explain it later? I don't take my work home with me and I don't want to blow a chance to meet someone because they misunderstand what I do. Any advice?
Thanks,

Hey Op,
Write from the heart and have fun with it. It will come across in your profile.
Write your profile the way you really talk and think. This way when someone responds they're responding to the real you and not a cut and polished version of yourself.
