between a little more blurry & hindsight
got rear view mirrors on the left and right
getting cross eyed watching out for tailgaters
when a sign warned of crossing salty alligators

a universal icon etched on an elongated octagon
to resemble a cave drawing near Lost Billabong
a green patina to hide the power of the schartz
to guard the gilded veins in pyrite laden quartz

despite the weather or the upper handed
on the dock glad this ship finally landed
river dancing every night till we got bored
breaking the rules playing shuffle board

how the deck pitched in those stormy seas
unlike sails billowing in a Southern breeze
shown on the cover of glossy travel brochures
taken thru coconut trees on soft sand shores

as fishermen born on the backs of sea horses
go out in the ocean sailing zigzag courses
along craggy volcanic shores looking for lobsters
delivered fresh to the table via remote helicopters

searching still, for a brand new start
treasure marked X on a cryptic chart
where to put in was the real mystery
wrapped in vague references to history

was it the native trout, maybe a Brown bear
an unsinkable legend who once lived there
not to far too walk but why not go by canoe
when unsure of the answer to the first clue

Might be best if we open r eyes
Find the Buddha hiding in disguise
Under a Flitter of yellow butterflies
Or enjoying a serving of large fries

Who could it be nobody was sure
Fish can't live in water too pure
Results may not be what u expect
So treat everyone with respect

the length of the distance is neither here nor there
as the crow flies over the land turtle and swift hare
in the wispy pink clouds of an early morning sunrise
as a flock of red breasted Robins fill the blue skies

How can these birds not have their own unique Group name
are mischiefs of Magpies in a convocation of Eagles to blame
is a commotion of Coots in a cast of Merlins an annoyance
to the Godwits' omniscience and the Flamingos flamboyance

to demise rather than just staying alive
deep diving for lobsters helps one thrive
on a dessert island without a game warden
with six foot carrots growing in the garden

how many nick names are there for Mr Johnson
won't be the question asked of Miss Wisconsin
so if we judge not then there's nobody to blame
as many things change even more stay the same

at high noon in this no-name town
waiting at the station until sundown
when the sprinklers around the square
paint round rainbows in the frozen air

seen before in the rings circling the moon
a rock skipping across a mirror like lagoon
leaves floating in reflections from the ripples
life would be easier if I'd been born with dimples

sun overcast with a slight chance of pain
not a zero sum game with nothing to gain
for farmers sowing seeds praying it rains
assured by water totes connected to drains

windmill driven stone ground whole grain
raisin bread cinnamon swirls on the brain
when lightning flashes and thunder roars
sounds like a good time to not go outdoors

rediscoverd a new creative process called freedom
sleeping in late the morning of the dawn of wisdom
missed the sunrise reflecting off the restless ocean
on the horizon seagulls seem to fly in slow motion

compared to coconut crabs scurrying on the beach
carrying a picnic basket, lunch was just out of reach
standing atop two traffic cones with huge snowballs
riding an avalanche over a series of frozen waterfalls

destinies Dreams run for miles
A to N cabinets with O-Z's files
folder of brochures had to chuck it
New Zealand won't fit in the bucket

soon after down sizing to a tiny house
spiders moved out along with the mouse
claiming the bottled water came from a tap
when rolling thunder interrupts a good nap

frequent flyer miles the more you buy
discount coupon for a dozen bread loaves
a combo loco deal on freshly grown cloves

friendly farmers markets in carriage barns
selling mild jalapenos and alpaca wool yarns
trading tree ripe peaches got sand for brains
taking long walks on the beach when it rains

stuck on heavy load wash and rinse cycle Nostalgia
pockets with fishing weights and onions from Vidalia
picking water cress along the river bank while ogling
found a free fish net and wicker lawn chair googling

a party at the near earth object observatory reckoned
to take off a half day was far out at ten mile per second
so they all loaded into a woody an headed for the coast
picnicked by the lava flows with marshmallows to toast

the sunset still far in the offing
quiet except for some coughing
caterpillars by a babbling brook
barking spiders in a story book

the wing flaps of a tiger butterfly flitter
Sylvester typing in all CAPS on twitter
lemon drop jelly beans may be too bitter
still better than an orchid with gold glitter

reminds me of cheese cake without crust
bumper stickers saying California or bust
so still tie up the mules even ones you trust
highway 49 laundries found tons of gold dust

in the blink of an eye, everything changes
selecting built in ovens or electric ranges
eye dropper selectors for colors and textures
an encyclopedia of plants with video lectures

how to use the new automatic deck layout tools
contour landscapes for hot tubs or swimming pools
even forecasts the future of how the garden looks
after twenty years of growth according to the books

as always we must ignore what nobody knows
how the climate has changed antarctic ice flows
flying in the blind spots of low orbit satellites
snow cats taking ice cores on long winter nights
must have day dreams of Pele's lava lamp lights
interrupted by memories of occasional bug bites

too small for ground hogs or gophers must be moles
under the corner stones and punch pads of foundations
holding up hall trees draped in paper mache fabrications

flying buttresses of candle wax drippings on pinatas
multi color flags around the world in sail boat regattas
a scenic detour to easy street where maps do the math
turning a giant clam shell into a pretty good bird bath

on the front line taking inventory of the final hour
in Genie's chariot with five hundred horse power
flying carpets protected by laser fitted floor mats
wireless mouse pads with pictures of house cats

we now have crop circles in highland corn fields
some conspiracy theories are trying to blame yaks

celebrating the power of love and fresh starts
harnessing the energy using rescued golf carts
reworked with regenerative breaks and solar sails
wisk broom inner tube wheels and magnetic kite tails

reclaiming lost fishing lures and lead sinker weights
doing double duty trolling with artificial or live baits
using manta ray vision and some vacuum cleaner hoses
several sea horses certifying the hound dogs' prognosis

determined to find the source of a gilded goose feather
kept by a museum in an antique tobacco pouch of leather
owned by a prospector donated by his daughter Heather
a noble nominee for claiming climate is related to weather

Al technology self-driving cars make no cents
Think of the job loss fixing bumpers and dents
Maybe drunk drivers set the bar way too low
When you're already there it's OK to go slow

An eye chart bumper sticker on the tailgate
Read that 2 seconds is not too long to wait
When multicore processors left without a clue
Have to wake up the driver to know what to do

real or fake quest bore us to wrest a plea
only rumor believe me there's nothing to see
so go West over the Sierra then left on the Middle
past Angels camp where retired miners play fiddle

while telling tales of burying lost pirate treasures
written about a trail blazed by dots and measures
put in point near the unsinkable Molly's homestead
too far to walk so take a birch bark canoe instead

literally or figuratively can't remember which
helps backing up boat trailers if you have a hitch
side view mirrors a rear window without a curtain
even with free gimme hats nothing's for certain

out in the wilderness in awe and rapture
a feeling in words that is hard to capture
no guarantee they were there to be found
rubies and diamonds weighed over a pound

left the rest hidden in an Oro mountain crevasse
wrapped in space blankets and some camo canvas
plan to return when the wind chills after summer
with a new kayak and an all wheel drive Hummer

feet on the ground hits the door running
alerted to the best time window for sunning
in the early morning hours before high noon
when the ebb tide goes out with a full moon

leaving the ghost shrimp to hide away in holes
avoiding sea gulls and salt water fishing poles
right hooks, dotted lines, sinkers and bobbers
sky blue porch ceilings with nests of dirt dobbers

it's plain to see there's no denial
so why bother even having a trial
with no reservations try to stay cool
as hawkers hold up tickets to the pool

still remember when that park was free
now ten dollars a carload with photo ID
posted selfies with a cotton mouth on Yelp
offering bee swarm removal part time help

gotta message from a number that was blocked
to leave a letter in a mail box even if it's locked
figured a lower case i would fit through the slot
considering all options from A to Z and what not

dance-no chance to know other's heaven or hell
once caught in the gaze of Aphrodite's siren spell
filling quivers of feathered arrows for Cupid's bow
feeling certain of libraries full of what I don't know

amateur linguist who went to Rome for romance
what's that they say about men being from Mars

the winner loses so there's reason to shout
casting an extras call to chase a water spout
in the volcanic thunder of roiling ash clouds
close the park to hold back the tourist crowds

on the fringe of fiery fissures filming the melee
approaching too close angers the goddess Pele
who walls the oceans in blankets of lava flows
turns corral reefs into sand between her toes

recent see through manta ray vision now reveals
concreted quick sand where she ran in high heels
chasing sea lions and even the mighty Moby Duck
who folded or lost to that Buck held by bad luck

easily a red flag especially if said twice
was it fried green tomatoes's bee charmer
who said dungarees don't make you a farmer

a front loader tractor to move a round hay bale
could roll it down the hill but can't turn it over
thinking about a plow horse in a field of clover

tomorrow is a new day with the dawning of the sun
woke up sleep walking dreaming I went for a run
racing bearfoot over ancient pahoehoe lava flows
unaware that in the rocky soil a wild orchid grows

under the shade of fig tree leaves and ripe bananas
or written in the stars of matching green bandannas
was it fate there's no collective nouns for red robins
with sun on their backs chasing shadowy hobgoblins

an Eskimo shaman answered saying nobody knows
the ways of the caribou follow how the wind blows
clear waves at sunrise look like hollow tubes of lava
sipping sweetened peppermint tea or expresso java

About the caterpillar who spun a silk cocoon
Grew gossimer wings and flew away to the moon

help us SHINE a NEW Light where it began
back before time when whatever hit the fan
some say forget it how could it even exist
without vapors or ether to collect into mist

can't count all the galaxies dancing on pins
they say it has to do with how the world spins
one thangs fur sure never want to question it
no guarantees of nondisclosure if it don't fit

Forms a Higher Truth convinced it will change
Can only be patient as a lot of things rearrange
Got eyes on a uplifting jet stream spawned tornado
Moved to paradise at the base of an active volcano

Pineapple garden grown in the shade of a papaya tree

it's hard to get back what u ain't got
camped out in an overflow parking lot
run quiet generator and a dog that barks
lost a life time pass to our national parks

only cost ten dollars when they were bought
about twenty bit coins on that laptop I forgot
traded up for a tower with graphic drag lines
to connect all the dots with textured designs

rewrapping the constellations in new portfolios
Teddy Bears are now the new name for Scorpios
a permanent resolution will get to the rest later
in sessions to consider changing Libra to Alligator

drown memories in the bottom of a flask
to trim a mustache with a duck tape mask
fold in origami tin foil handle bars on a hat
antennae that act like whiskers of that cat

when following the tracks of a mountain lion
in the diffuse golden lite valley walls of Zion
a wet suit and water proof boots in November
need a list of things I always forget to remember

blowing in the wind searching for so much more
on truck inner tube tricycles along a wavy shore
Bob followed the path of the leeward pelican
to a gold belly buttoned mammoth tusk Billiken

from ancient sea beds in the foot hills near Fiddle
where the creek bends like willow trees in a riddle
an annual county fair challenge to all jumping frogs
from Amazon forests to hollow Blackjack oak logs

the first round is a game of chicken BINGO
have to talk turkey to understand their lingo
from there they move on to the televised draft
holding hand held cameras on a white water raft

into the canyon of no return without a receipt
Epsom salts in apple vinegar to sooth sore feet
be sure to hard boil the eggs so they don't crack
knowing how baggage handlers treat a backpack

like trying to figure out why the wind blows
unlike water we know which way ..it flows
down hill chutes building up dynamic head
bumping bully boulders into gold and lead

lining the riffles with garnet and black sand
a dry creek bed parade with a bagpipe band
training leaf blowers to feed the shop vacs
a herd of iron horses followed their tracks
