WORKING CHRISTMAS, DOUBLE PAY?
Posted: 12/10/2014 10:42:24 PM
Thanks for the comments, although you got me wrong, i'm not the one working weekends without comp, its a mate who works in a store, been telling him he better off working in different industry like me, as i get time and a half saturdays, and double if i work sunday, and don't work xmas,

he told me stores used to be closed sundays and public holidays by law,but as society moves to a 24-7 life in everything, there is no longer family days

True theres nothing wrong with saying merry xmas, same as nothing wrong with saying happy hannukah, or the rest of the multitude of holiday greetings,

though easier to use a universal greeting, ie happy holidays ,
bit like when i'm working, instead of using assortment of tools for the job, everyone correct one, prefer where possible to
use multi-tools, like my all-in-one sander-angle grinder-planer as covers most things,

I agree with the other poster, what you gonna complain about ?
as to naming and shaming her!! you went out once, then she stopped
talking to you , it happens, lot of people act like meeting great when you
standing in front of them, as though not to cause a scene,
and then just ignore you afterwards, it happens with both genders,

get over it and move on ,

ps very fact you bitter about it, and want to name and shame her online,
pretty much gives her validation, for not telling you she wasn't interested
when she met you,

WORKING CHRISTMAS, DOUBLE PAY?
Posted: 12/10/2014 8:11:56 AM
Should you be entitled to double pay for working over xmas, if you just think of it as another day,
as in if your workplace allows you time off for your own religous beliefs already,

i know of a lot of people who get friday, and saturday as their 2 days off a week, under religious observance,
even though a lot of parents with young children have to work almost them all to make up personnel shortage
on those days,

yet when xmas rolls around, the same friday and saturday people ask for double pay for working over xmas,

i know theres nothing wrong with that. but should the people who work all the friday and saturdays throughout the
year not aslso be entitled to same compensation ?

as other posters have already said in one form or other,
leave your profile as it is for a while now,

and see how your profile does for a while before
thinking of any more tweaking, as sending messages,
is all about trial and error,

pictures : glad you took advice and changed main picture from beige, to one with colour,
now i know lot of posters gonna disagree with my next comments, but no problem,
feel free to use or ignore them,

your profile has got 6 pictures, which is a good number, but think you be better losing worst 2,
the beige one, and the one with the puppy, now before you say it, pics with puppies show caring side,
but your smile not exactly joyous holding that puppy haha, and beige one adds nothing to your profile
if anything detracts from other pics as almost exactly same pose and picture just different clothing,

xmas tree picture looks lots better if you could get someone to take one with you and 2 dogs you mention
in your profile in front of it,

Stuck up???
Posted: 12/6/2014 5:20:02 AM
Ok just to clarify something before my reply, i always read a persons profile first, which i did with yours, but unlike other threads i've posted on i couldn't handle reading your whole threads posts as reads more like an exercise in creative writing,

so moving forward that this is a genuine query and not as you put it a social experiment:

your profile is mega long winded, i get that your looking to inject humor into your writing, but theres no need to
try and fit it into every sentence,

good humor like sarcasm, can be very appealing to others, but over-doing it can also be a major turn off,
the box where it says ABOUT ME: told me virtually nothing about you, was about to close the profile, then found few
kernels of who you are as a person in last bit titled what makes me unique,

then more rambling in 1st date box,

i myself got a long profile, but serious as well as humor,

yours isn't a profile, as much as its a social experiment,

ps better accepting a guys PERSPECTIVE on your profile, and save the PRESPECTIVE for times when you looking to sell instead

Agree with other posters on your message content, you only sending the c+p standard message, need to read their profile first, and send message that shows you clearly interested in it,

also need to do something about changing your main picture, i not saying its a bad one,
just not good as a main one, looks like you took it right up close with your pc webcam, plus fact with your light skin colouring in a beige room need a bit of bright color to attract the eye, good example is tatersprout who replied to your thread pic is vibrant,

think its more a traditional fayre, as in in time of****ns they were symbolic of xmas, and cheap, nowadays as better quality of street food has become more readily available chestnuts have fallen by the proverbial wayside along with snow haha

in answer to dobermonsters comment of seasonal delicacy, think the squirrel nibbling on the chestnut most probably the real seasonal delicacy lol

FOOD EXCHANGE
Posted: 12/17/2013 7:47:12 AM
ok let me explain my first explain my reason for not posting this thread in a particular catergory on the cooking forum,
i,e lunch, breakfast dinner, as don't want some moderator to go all postal on me,interests

One of my fav interests is cooking new dishes or creating new recipes, but as my diet is somewhat restrictive, only chicken or fish, no pig or cow,

no alcohol in anything i eat, even though i'm well aware that the alcohol content burns off when cooking,
and as little gluten as possible, plus no burning spices, not even pepper,

so you see to a lot of people my food choice seems somewhat limited, which is kind of ironic knowing how much i love cooking for others,

last year used to cook 3-5 courses for up to 55 people whole ramge of dishes from middle eastern to indian, italian, and mexican,

never thought of it as work, mate brought all the ingredfients as was mostly his guests,

but now might be moving to hamilton scotland, and wondering if anyone knows of anything like the food exchange group they have set up in essex, where member cook own recipes then have meeting to socialise and swap dishes, and recipes,

Motorway speed limits.
Posted: 12/4/2013 10:43:37 AM
speed limit for me today was supposed to be 70mph for the most part, think turned into 95-97mph instead, as know you allowed to go over speed limit when overtaking, only prob was for over 16 miles, both left lanes were like slo-mos, so speeded up to find empty stretch to cut back into,

good think i was using my sat nav, as engine so smooth, most times not even realise you driving nearer to a ton,

LAPTOP OF ULTRABOOK

Upon further reflection, i decided to change out my hard drive, for an intel 120gb ssd instead, as it being true that size of hard drive is not a priority to me, as long as i have enough for work i want to do, anything else on it can just be transfered till i need to use it,

p.s the laptop build company i got the quote from, has got forums, so i thought them being more knowledgeable than myself, i would ask them to check over my new specs, in over a week, i got 54 views, but only one bothered
replying, guess not all pc communities are helpful haha

so allow me to say thank you to all on pof who have helped me in replying to my pc help threads

THANK YOU ALL!!! MUCH APPRECIATED

So how can it be a SSD drive but also spin at 5,400rpm?

I stand corrected as after rereading the printed custom build quote, i realised the choice of a solid state drive was optional, as in if i decided to go down that route, i would be charged hefty for it, as well as the quoted price, so gave that idea a miss,

much as might like the idea of solid state drive in my laptop, not interested enough to pay large outlay for it,

give it another year prices will drop to more reasonable level,

but in my own case for now drive with platters will do

We all have such different needs which is why I asked first off what he intended to use the computer for. You swear by a SSD and I have a 250gb SSD sitting in front of me on the desk I used for a week and FOR WHAT I USE THE COMPUTER FOR I really saw no huge difference

thanks for the understanding cowboy,

as to the words SSD my laptop specs has the letters attached to my hard drive, although i didn't bother typing it, as
wasn't of vital importance to me ...so yea it has SSD as well,

have to disagree about need for large external monitor though, as then not much seperates it from a desktop,

external drive was, i don't have load of cables for them, as my drive fits in palm of my hand and has little usb cable only not plugs, and are 500gb-1tb

i understand cowboy liking cd/dvd drives as can usually play them on other devices such as dvd/cd players, maybe even watch on tv or listen in car,

but in my case i don't own a tv or a dvd/cd player, and i ride a bike usually, where i listen to my mp3 player,
i know to some people this may seem strange or even weird, but i never found anything to beat a good book,

so to clarify there are certain programmes i used to enjoy on my old laptop hence 17.3inch screen, anything less too small to properly enjoy, anything over to much overkill for me,

250 gb as not need more due to my externals,

4-8gb memory and intel 5 processor, as want to work with some programmes that are quite speed intensive as well as being able to multi-task with them,

3.0 usb ports, as approx 10 times faster at transfers than 2.0

webcam and blu-ray comes as standard along with bluetooth

most of rest of specs are same

ok after lot of searching around, decided best route is to just go for laptop, but instead of getting expensive one from shop that mostly full of bog standard components with fancy brand name on it, (used to work for jvc) and remember lot of tvs and pcs produced and what most people never realised is only thing separating them from cheap versions was little logo on front,

looked into getting my laptop custom built instead,

ok i'll run my specs past you,for bit of feedback, ....

: 17.3 in matte hd led widescreen (1600x900)

: intel core i5 dual core mobile processor 15-3230m (2.60ghz) 3mb

: 4gb samsung memory.

:graphics card...intel hd graphics 4000 vid mem tech up to 1.7 gb

: 25o gb hard drive, with 8mb cache (5,400rpm)

:dvd blu-ray drive..

bluetooth,

2 usb 3.0 ports+ 1 x usb 2.0 port as standard,

battery...6 cell lithium-ion battery, (48,84wh)

windows 7 home premium,

integrated uk k/board,

touch pad mouse.

1.3 megapixel webcam,

3 year standard warranty,

total cost inc vat and delivery £535..

now i understand lot of people ok with smaller than 17.3 in screen,
but quite sure they also own tvs, i don't never have if watch anything used to be on laptop,

as to windows 8 not a fan of it, despite fact its new,

going to use my laptop for multi-tasking, as well as hoping to learn new cs50 computer science course, so it needs fast processing, which is why went for i5 intel core,

i know theres an i7 but don;t think difference in speed justifies the price hike,

never asked for dvd or blu-ray, seems comes as standard,

250gb hard drive more than enough for my needs as got plenty of external drives if need extra,

which is also why 3.0 ports better for me,

4gb memory enough at mo, if want more later fine,

Well looks like might have to get another laptop, as mine gone to techno heaven, or hell, so was trying to decide
between another laptop of a tablet, when someonme suggested i should look into getting an ultrabook instead,
as could have best of both worlds as in laptop or detach screen and it becomes touch screen tablet instead,

although been told disadvantage is fact because most ultrabooks so slim, usually means no cd or dvd drive,

to me not much of disadvantage though, as most of my data usually stored on external drives anyway, and nowadays who uses discs anyway apart from gaming community ?

so whats advantages and disadvantages then?

CYCLE NETWORK
Posted: 5/24/2013 10:03:47 AM
Where i live in essex, theres a very large cycle network, although i usually just go on a mystery tour instead
when i go cycling, as in today meant to go to stanway and ended up in sudbury instead haha

i realise my sense of direction at times is non-existent, as left house passed through 4 different villages miles apart,
golf course, wildlife habitat, harvester pub car park, oak park hospital grounds, around community stadium
car park, and thats mainly as never like like turning around and retracing my route if make mistake lol

so on way back decided to drop in library before it closed, took me 12 mins on cycle network route,

anyone else wandered off their route destination and gone on mystery tour ? or do you all follow exact directions

ANGLIAN WATER BILLS
Posted: 5/24/2013 9:51:38 AM

I've got a commercial premise here with staff, and a flat - my metered bills are roughly 300.00 a year, so yours should be much less than you are currently paying.

defo sounds the way to go, was told yesterday as single low user, my bills without meter should be no more than £240 per 12 months, sod that for game of soldiers though!

When I was in th Anglian area they had a so low tariff if there was only one person in the property...my half yearly bills were about £60 as I was on a meter.

now that sounds a lot better, tactile guy, as first month used virtually no water as place getting painted and decorated, and still got charged £20,

have to look into idea so low tariff thanks guys and gals

ANGLIAN WATER BILLS
Posted: 5/23/2013 5:14:36 AM
Well just got my first anglian water bill today, as chose to keep same water provider flat i moved into already had,
starting to think should have gave more thought to that now though,

correct me if i'm wrong here, but do most companies not sent out bills either monthly or quarterly, as on my 1st ever bill shows jan, feb, march, april, may, debit

plus fact when i set it up they told me cause i single low user, i pay £15 month, then after month, they might
recalculate, either up to £18 or down to £12,

well turns out they put up to £18 but also decided to round it up to £20 grrrr
even though rarely there, so not much water getting used,

anyway else think companies idea of rounding up bills is wrong, and should be rounded down instead.

wondering whether to check out water meter instead ?

SMOKING IN FRONT OF HOSPITAL ENTRANCES
Posted: 5/20/2013 7:52:17 AM
I have no issue with people smoking in the shelters which are actually on the opposite side of the road,
conveniently situated next to the bus stops,

but the ones i was referring to were the ones you have to push through to get to the entrance,
as to patients having last puff, seen plenty of that as well,

their like addicts

SMOKING IN FRONT OF HOSPITAL ENTRANCES
Posted: 5/20/2013 7:28:45 AM
Just visited hospital to see mate who has to stay till operation, and as walked through main entrance to ask
reception which ward to go to, had to pass through about dozen people clustered around entrace smoking,

now before anyone jumps on the freedom to smoke bandwagon, is it really right to call it that ?

as across the road but still part of the hospital grounds, theres a grass park with a river and ducks in it,
where plenty of room to smoke, and yet still allow freedom of choice, as in potential patients and visitors
can choose whether to passively or personally smoke or not,

seems like attending a funeral with a hangover and a 6-pack, far as i know no law against it, but normal, person
wouldn't do it, so is it an essential freedom of choice to smoke where people are visiting loved ones or is it selfishness ?

STRANGER OR NEIGHBOUR NEXT DOOR ?
Posted: 5/18/2013 8:21:36 AM
Was cycling into town late last night, and even though was going through residential streets for the most part,
could just as easily have been cycling through empty fields activity-wise,

everybody locked away, lot with blinds closed, nobody out in thier garden talking to next door, nobody even walking dog,

almost like instead of britian being known as an island to rest of world, everybody in their houses were islands,

what i saying in a round-about way, is i remember growing up in a street with a sense of community spirit,
even remember joking about woman across the street, always looking to borrow cup of sugar,

or kids coming home from school and neighbour looking after them till their parents got home,

like friends reunited where it allows you to re-connect with childhood friends or people who lived in same street as you,

although where i grew up does'nt exist anymore, they tore it down so they could build non-descript housing,

so does anyone else find themselves living in street or area, where community spirit or hall is a thing of the past,

and your kids got social network page with 100s of friends on it, but they couldn't even name the family living across from them ?

think what got me thinking on this, is article online recently where police broke into womans flat as she had not been seen at work recently, and found her dead on sofa, coroner said she had been dead for approx 3 weeks,
and he was surprised no-one had complained about smell yet,

some prefer older women cause they think the women are needy but will quickly reveal they just want a hookup...some have momma issues

plus some prefer older women as feel they not so hung up on life, as in less social pressure

Cycle Path or Dog Path ?
Posted: 5/8/2013 4:55:39 AM

i know where you coming from-but answer is get on correct side path-cut your speed-invest in a bell/horn/full speed ahead dont divate-from course works for me-if they dont get out way....

being on the correct side usually has no effect whatsoever, even had one woman say to me: pedestrians always have right of way,

so i said yea but operative word is pedestrian, as in walk on single path, not lead spread across both,
even explained if path got picture of bike on it, it not mean place where local bike set up business,

and difference between bike and pedestrians path is groove across path, as in forward for wheels, and side to side
like cows gate for walkers,

and she chibbed in with ohh so bike picture means path is reinforced for vehicle traffic, with her friend nodding
sagely alongside her,

at that point decided decided to cycle away,. in case got a crick in my neck from talking down to her IQ haha

Cycle Path or Dog Path ?

Where i live we have something called the cycle network, so for those who like outdoor pursuits its easy to get around without upsetting pedestrians, who say you should be on the road all the time, and road users who
say should be off the road as not licensed,

well last year they opened up new cycle paths that go around my country park. but lot of dog users think it means
dog walkers only, as often been cycling down a hill while watching out for kids or others darting across my path,
and almost came flying over handle bars as some dog walker got dog on long extension lead, so that stretched from
one side of path to other, which hard to see on bike till almost on it,

and if you say anything to them, often get, pedestrians always got right of way,

i not even disputing that, but does common sense not dictate, safety comes first, and while walking on dual use
path dogs should be on a short lead,

and for all dog users out there, not got anything against dogs, just like to live longer

Yeah. Gee. Imagine that….not all women are the same.

hence the reason i never used the word (all)

as to the posters who keep saying cradle snatching is only if there lot lot younger, i meant the term as
loose description of large age difference dating, which to me starts at 10 years either side,

thats not to say large age difference's don't work great for lot of people, not disputing that,
was just interested to hear other's opinion on the idea?

Probably the same could be said about some men, eh?

sorry fleuron, being a bloke couldn't say personally as prefer females, but entirely probable haha

PERSONAL HYGIENE!!

I m a stickler for kitchen hygiene too, and hand washing etc, and probably would find someway of bringing up cleanliness etc into the conversation with a prospective man. Clean loos are good too, men get brownie points if I go to their house and they have a well cared for loo, and they know to put the loo seat down before they flush as well!!!

run across lot of that type of hygiene lack when worked as commis chef in my younger days,
used to have some chefs or food handlers in kitchen areas who would cure runny noses, by running top of knuckles
under it to wipe snot away, then think its ok to handle food after wiping hand off on their chef whites, bleurgh!!

even had waiters who had hand down trousers scratching crotch area while waiting for their orders to be ready, then would pick plate up and serve it to customers, without though of washing hands first,

He said afterwards he had showered when he got up at 8am but we didnt meet till 7pm and he had time to go home and take another shower, when I said to this he was like why would I take another shower when Id had one already??? Ewww your rank man!!!

bit like saying why eat after breakfast as already eaten once that day,

because your body needs it, same as shower your body exudes oil in form of sweat, that and fact first impressions
count,

my mother always told me, always wear clean socks and underwear, as if you knocked down not want to embaress yourself haha
