the magic bullet
Posted: 12/4/2008 11:03:26 PM
My first one cut the plastic near the cutter part and had to buy a second bullet. The first one was a gift. The second works fine but is only good for iced coffees. The other blade I use to grind chicken and broth for dog food. All in all unless you drink a lot of iced coffees it isn't worth it as it smooshes tomatoes, onions, peppers and other veggies to much.

Improving this site...

It was nice when the pictures of teddy bears, flowers, beer, wine, candy were put up to post to those we want to send gifts to with the points we earn. I would just like to see a picture of balloons and other happy gifts we might send to just friends with whom we have no romantic connection with.

whats wrong with my car?
Posted: 7/4/2007 2:34:41 PM
I have a 1988 Delta 88 Royal Braughm . Last winter when I was driving it seemed to not shift into third correctly and it is an automatic. I took it to the shop and they did the transmission fluid kit change and told me the transmission is going out and that was the worst transmission Oldsmobile ever put into Delta 88's. It also cost 3,000 thousand for new transmission and labor and not worth repairing. I only have 155,00 miles as well and this car was always maintained well.

The mechanic told me it would continue to run but when the transmission goes it will just not shift out of first gear so I would be able to get home just very slowly. I still drive it everywhere within fifty miles of home. Occasionally I will put my foot on the gas and it sounds like it is not accelerating and is just going VVROOM. I just let up on the gas and lightly put it back on the pedal and keep on going till I get it up to speed. The mechanic did say by doing the 80 dollar transmission fluid kit change would make it last a bit longer. So good luck in what ever your problem but it sounds like your tranny is going to be going. If so drive it easy and careful when you pass. Good luck with it.

Disabilities/Illness and Dating
Posted: 6/7/2007 4:11:10 PM
I never mention my disability in my profile. I tell after I have e-mailed a few times to see if we are even going beyond a few e-mails. Why should I tell in my profile. I don't want to be judged having an incurable illness. I want to be judged by who I am as a person not how my body gets around.

I have had CIDP for over twenty years. Only three thousand people in the world have this illness. No one knows when they meet me that I even have anything wrong or that I spent a year and a half in a wheelchair and took five years to learn to walk again. I just can't run, jump, or climb and who my age does all that on a regular basis. I have found people are interested in who you are. I met some really great people on this site.

How lazy are you?

I clean up every Sunday. During the week the clutter piles up and when do you get company on Saturday and all the clutter is everywhere. I do manage the dishes, and laundry through the week. I save the rest for Sunday.

Toyota Corollas
Posted: 8/10/2006 11:07:35 PM
I had a 77 Toyota Corolla for years was the third owner and before gas hikes was given a 92 Plymouth Sundance with low miles a few years back and sold the Toyota. What a mistake. It had the best heater. It never broke down and gas was affordable. I will buy another one someday when the Sundance gives out. The only thing is the Corolla was old and the seats were uncomfortable. but for a twenty something year old car what does one expect.

My dog gets a pill at nine every night and he comes up at precisely nine and nudges me for his cookie with the pill. He never misses a night and is always on time. I think they have some way of knowing.

Trying to stay safe
Posted: 7/28/2006 10:46:36 PM
I had a peeping tom pervert stalking me just over a year ago. First he just looked in the windows at me then he started banging his monkey in my yard. I got a stun gun and I slept with it. I carried it everywhere I went for about a year. Like you I didn't want to have a gun. They have some nice stun guns for sale now. Good luck to you and don't let fear dictate your life.

Tips on living with a roommate
Posted: 6/17/2006 11:24:47 PM
WOW. I have had two roomates at different times and never had to lock my room, keep towels seperate, never worried about my food. Never had to do their dishes or laundry. I live very rural and maybe that makes a difference. In the common kitty my turn when it runs out your turn.

Humanising Animals.
Posted: 6/17/2006 11:16:36 PM
Hmmm.... Help you say. I had a cat once who when you said "Play ball." would sit and wait for you to throw a wadded up grocery receipt and he would bat it and then go get it and bring it back. Also had a cat who would watch tv mostly Animal Planet.

Please don't feel sorry for me because they were good company and never argued with me. I imagine some people go overboard but sometimes their pets are their life.

Reallly off the subject
Posted: 5/10/2006 10:38:05 AM
Mine went out last year and it will cost 400.00 for the parts alone not to mention new freeon gas and installation. I got a gift, a hand held fan with a built in water sprayer. So I spray it on my face and arms and drive on. So for at least five hundred in cost trade it in and buy a different car unless you have a mechanic who will install for free or beer and the beer after installation. Good luck.

The simple things you enjoy?
Posted: 4/26/2006 10:26:05 AM
When I meet a girlfriend and we go shopping for new clothes and knowing she is honest when I try clothes on and say it looks great or like crap.

Driving to unknown destinations and seeing new places I have never been to and then enjoy the sunset and the moon rise.

Going to Los Angeles and spending a few weeks with my best girlfriend and cram in as much as possible.

Is there a use for the internet besides dating sites, illegal downloads, and gaming??
Posted: 3/17/2006 4:20:57 PM
Indeed there is you can look up anyone you decide you want to date and see if they are fpr real. I want to know if I am dating a criminal of some sorts. Since I have worked for a private dectective before I was able to learn how to find out about a person.

I have also found that you can get information about anything you want to know about. And the webcams some of them are great for seeing other parts of the world.

how many here are after 45 and without children
Posted: 3/6/2006 6:35:36 AM
At 54 I have no regrets of not having children. I only wanted them if I had enough money, I loved my freedom, I did not want the responsiblilty. I seemed to always have enough trouble taking care of me. My friends all had children more than enough if I wanted to play auntie for a bit. The number one reason the agony of being pregnant and the pain to deliver no thanks not to mention the weight gain. I am quite content with my cat and dog.

What do you do when your board off your @@@?
Posted: 2/28/2006 3:36:55 PM
I seem to be lucky as I don't get bored often. I finish one thing and my mind is ready to jump to the next thing.

If I am bored I pull out a map and look for new places to go check it out on the internet. I may spend more time at the gym. I get the dog out more.

If nothing else worked I would go to a nursing home or retirement home because these wonderful aging people know what real boredom is. They could tell you stories of times gone by and play checkers or cards and you would make there day and your boredom gone for that day.

Soda pop is dreadful for your body. I gave it up almost six months ago and I feel great. I joined a gym as well and now have a trainer. I use the crosstrainer the most and I lift weights. Good luck on your journey.

Posted: 1/27/2006 10:32:45 PM
I spend an hour six days a week on an crosstrainer same as what you are using and two days I swim. I can say when I just do the crosstrainer, weights, and big ball for sit ups and squats and I go home my left knee hurts a lot. If I swim after it doesn't hurt as much. I wish I could swim everyday. I think the squats make it hurt more.

Silly question but I have to ask anyway.
Posted: 1/14/2006 5:50:17 PM
I have seperate bowls for the cat and dogs. The cat drinks out of both and one dog drinks out of both. One will not get into anyone else's bowl of food or water. He is a true gentleman. None of them have gotten sick. I change the water in the dog bowl twice a day because one dog is a slob and by days end it is full of slobber.

what book (if any) are you reading right now
Posted: 11/15/2005 10:21:31 PM
I am reading When Your Pet Dies. I just got in from Los Angeles and my ex and my cat died the same day, same time, two days before I got home. I still have her sister and my dog. Thought I needed a way to cope better.

I much prefer a mystery with Mary Higgins Clark or a VC Andrews book.

I never felt like life slowed down until I was fifty and then I wanted to sleep eight hours and not go non stop all the time. However it seems time moves so much faster the older I get. The seasons seem to go faster as well.

I do the same first I clean the counters, sink, then the tolilet, then I sweep it out, then mop the floor and turn on the fan and then I hit the shower no clothes on and spray it down and then scrub it down. When all is shiny I take a shower so I have no chemicals on me. Good to hear I am not the only one who does this.

to Tan or not to Tan
Posted: 9/13/2005 11:12:54 PM
I have been taking the chance tanning with no strap lines... I tan easily.

I also replenish my skin with cremes and lotions which is super important. It is a lot of work keeping it up naturally and then keeping your skin in good condition so it doesn't age any faster than normal.

My dad's 60 something Ford something station wagon which I wrecked running a stop sign that was fallen over in a ditch and I was unfamilar with the area. I got a ticket for running the stop sign that wasn't there but the lady that hit me got a ticket for speeding. I got out of my ticket which was a hundred dollars in 1970.

What would attract you to a homestead lifestyle?
Posted: 9/8/2005 10:00:21 PM
I have not lived the city life for over thirty years. I live in paradise with all four seasons.....

Depending on where in the Pacific Northwest you can buy land that is very expensive or very cheap.

I have lived the homestead life back in the 70's and grew our own food, had our own livestock, co-op and were quite self sufficient while also holding jobs in the city. Now I just live in the country in a large river gorge and I love it here. No traffic.

I am faced with the same dilema. My birthday is Saturday and I have yet to decide what to do. I am usually on vacation at this time but opted to vacation in October so I could spend it with my best friend on her birthday. It will probably rain here by Saturday which makes outdoor plans a bit out...

Glad to hear you had a perfect birthday.

Did they drop you because they believe you are in love with her? If so maybe poems of love should be mailed to there private e-mail....Hopefully she didin't drop you too.....

Maybe the eight people were hoping for a chance with you and now think there is no chance. Although I find I like keeping the friends I make even if they fall for someone else but that could be because I am not looking to fall for someone.
