What a cynical lot yous are. Maybe it's GENUINE.

What if her ma and dad said

"listen hen (in russian) we back you all the way. If you want to go to englandshire we will not stop you. As long as the geezer does not stay in scunthorpeski then you have our blessingski"

Messages this short filler type thing

Hello my dear Dave! Happy to hear back from you! Thank you for your care! How is your day today? I hope everything is all right! I have a coffee break so I can write you an email. Dave, today I had a sleepless night. Because I was thinking about you a lot. I was thinking about my talk with parents, about you and me. I had so many different thoughts. I can not stop thinking about the possible meeting. For so long it's been on my mind. Every day I feel more that I want to see you. Dave, I think you're my soul mate. We have close and trusting relationship. I have opened my heart. I feel you are the man I want to have the future with. But now we need to make the most important step in our life. We both understand that we need to see each other in order to make sure we feel the same to each other. Do you agree with me? I thought a lot, and came to the conclusion that I was ready to meet you! I need to know what you think about it. Are you ready? Yes, of course my dear, I know it is rather difficult to organize the meeting. Just now we need to decide whether we want to meet or nor. Are we both ready for this important step? As for me I can honestly say that I am ready! I will overcome all the difficulties for the sake of our meeting. Yes, I have not known yet what exactly I need to do in order to come to another country.

Brexit? A coup de grace?

And the winner of this years TONY BLAIR AWARD FOR SINCERITY goes to...................

"It was the most important TV appearance of Emmanuel Macron’s presidency: the 40-year-old former banker had to prove to an angry nation that he was not an arrogant “president of the rich” and that he understood ordinary French people’s struggle to make ends meet.

Yet Macron’s choice to deliver his prerecorded speech on social inequality from one of the most opulent and golden rooms in the luxurious, 365-room Élysée Palace was not lost on gilets jaunes protesters who have been occupying protest barricades on rural roundabouts.

Indeed, the Élysée Palace, the French presidential residence and workplace that is twice the size of the US White House and costs €104m a year to run, has been the object of fury during the protests.

On the barricades, many have been critical of the Macrons for redecorating some rooms in the palace – including the main reception room where new carpets will cost €300,000 (£271,000).

Macron chose to announce his measures aimed at calming the gilets jaunes protests by speaking from the traditional presidential office known as the salon doré, with its gold decorations.

He sat behind the large antique desk that has been used by all presidents since Charles de Gaulle and is the most valuable piece of furniture in the gilded palace. At the edge of the frame was a golden****rel, the symbol of France, between golden lamps, and three carefully placed antique books. Behind him, just to the right of a pair of ornate gold leaf doors, were the French and European flags.

The 13-minute address had to prove the pro-business Macron understood the “real world” of protesters.

There had been outrage among gilets jaunes when an MP from Macron’s party, La République En Marche, was recently unable to state the minimum wage on TV or when a cabinet minister trying to show the gulf between the working poor and the political elite appeared to complain that Paris dinners cost “€200 without wine”.*

But a record 23 million people tuned in – about the same number as for the French football team’s winning World Cup final.

“He doesn’t live in the real world” is a common refrain on the barricades, where Macron is likened to a monarch.
It remains to be seen whether an appearance from a gilded room in an 18th-century palace will change people’s minds."

*is this the global elite version of 'let them eat cake'?

Brexit? A coup de grace?

So no matter how many attended the Brexit Betrayal demo in londonistan the fact is BREXIT BETRAYAL has been in the lying press non stop. So job well done to what's left of ukip (the political party who brought down 'call me dave' camerons government and in doing so laid the foundations to bring down teresa the appeasers lot as well).

It has been a joy to watch as the liblabcon, the snp, plaid cymru, sinn fein et al have all joined forces to undermine a democratic vote by citizens. The grauniads comment is free section is in meltdown.

So apparently hospitals and schools are going to collapse, drug dealers will be selling paracetemol because there is not going to be any medicine. We are all going to starve because cheap exploitable labour eh i mean industrious workers who do the jobs lazy brits wont do will be deported.

Project fear 2.

But then along comes this geezer ashoka mody. A former director of the IMF none the less............

"Ignore the Brexit scare stories - they have no basis in sound economics

Officials are making up the menacing numbers because they believe that the UK should remain in the EU for non-economic reasons. British citizens should resolve the Brexit issue based on their values
The Bank of England’s prediction that civilisation will end with Brexitis merely an effort to outdo in shrillness similar analyses by the Treasury and the IMF.

All official agencies, trapped in an echo chamber, are competing to paint the grimmest picture of economic consequences of a British exit from the European Union. They are straining so hard because their projected costs of exit have no basis in economic theory or empirical findings.

“I don’t understand how you can get that kind of cost without making some big ad hoc assumptions,” tweeted Nobel laureate Paul Krugman.

When he uses the expression “big ad hoc assumptions”, he is saying the Bank is making up the numbers.

Mervyn King, who headed the Bank between 2003 and 2013, says he sadly “concurs” with Krugman’s assessment.

Krugman goes a step further: “I have worried in all this about motivated reasoning on the part of people who oppose Brexit for the best of reasons.”

Project fear has also warned us ungrateful uneducated hordes that there will be traffic jams from dover all the way up to orkney. But then this geezer who is the chief executive of the uk major ports group has this to say...........

"The Chief Executive of the United Kingdom Major Ports Group has shot down claims of a six-month “logjam” at Britain’s ports in the event of a “No Deal” Brexit in flames.

Writing to the Telegraph newspaper “on behalf of the United Kingdom’s major port operators, responsible for handling 75 per cent of the country’s seaborne trade”,

Tim Morris was highly dismissive of headlines suggesting a clean break with the EU on World Trade Organization (WTO) terms — “No Deal” — would result in trade seizing up.

SIR – The impact of Brexit at Dover would not be common to the UK ports sector as a whole.

I write on behalf of the United Kingdom’s major port operators, responsible for handling 75 per cent of the country’s seaborne trade.

Dover, handling around 6 per cent of UK port volumes, faces a unique combination of Brexit risk factors that are not faced by most major UK ports.

These ports already have the capacity and infrastructure to handle large volumes of both EU and non-EU trade today without “logjam”.

But hey what would HE know?............

As for the frenchies kicking off because their citizens are struggling as well. So the odious little twat macron put the army on the streets. And for that i applaud him. Why?

Because of the image on the link below. Now maybe it has been photie shopped. But if it is real then someones head will be on the chopping block.

A lovely eu flag stuck to the side of an armoured personnel carrier.

Lovely jubbly

Just as a matter of interest do you think that tommy robinson is 'far right' 'extreme right' etc etc?

If you do what makes you think that? The nonsense being written about ukip now being 'far right' in the lying press because tommy robinson has joined them is unhinged.

What do you think makes someone 'far right'?

The same lazy journalists also say Marine le Pen and her party are 'far right'. Yet their heartlands are the former communist strongholds. Mitterand said their manifesto was virtually 'communist'.

In italy 5 star and the League are also apparently 'far right'.

In poland, the government elected overwhelmingly by polish citizens is 'nearly' 'far right'.

The sweden democrats? Yep 'far right'.

And the bogey man himself. Viktor orban in hungary. 'Far FAR right'.

Yet orban paid off the IMF then threw them out of hungary. FORCED banks and utility companies to pay compensation to hungarian citizens whom they robbed.

Funnily enough they all have one thing in common. They want to look after THEIR nations citizens. They all oppose globalisation. They all think that allowing cheap exploitable foreign workers to arrive in their hundreds of thousands is detrimental to the working class in their nations.

"the trouble is Vlad that this Tommy Robinson you seem to like is being bank rolled by right wingers in America. And we've that other right wing dritt sek Steve bannerman getting involved here too."

When i first heard about tommy robinson was not long after mental islamists abused troops parading through the streets of luton. Feelings were running high. Now it is just a fact that most working class folk either know or have known someone who has been in the forces.

Then a group in luton organised a protest about the islamist hate preachers who stand in luton town centre calling for the destruction of the west.

Then came the edl. They were putting thousands out on the streets in englandshire. There was no organisation to the edl. The sight of so many working class out protesting scared the shite out of the political establishment and the lying press.

They couldn't understand that many millions of citizens are quite proud of their country and their flag. And that troops being abused and called child killers pissed them off. Then the burning of the poppy on remembrance sunday by islamists (who were protected by the polis while they burnt it) pissed them off even more.

When robinsons book Enemy Of The State came out i bought it. Robinson has a cousin who was groomed. She appeared at her folks door one day with her groomer. He told them to say goodbye to their daughter because they would never see her again. And they haven't.

The edl was always going to implode. Thousands of working class gathering together meant trouble of some kind would happen.

He has a drug conviction. So what. Blairs son was caught with drugs as was jack straws son.

He was convicted of fraud. I refer back to the political elite and the defrauding of the public purse.

He's a convicted football hooligan. And? How many bombs did lutons hooligan firm drop on islamic nations?

His book is interesting when he speaks of jail. Put in muslim run jails. Locked in a room with three convicted islamists who were caught as they drove to bomb an edl rally.

Ask yourself this chapster. How can that one laddie, who by the way has FIVE osman warnings, meaning credible threats to his and his families lives, draw so much support?

There are millions of citizens who are sick to the back teeth of hearing about 'muslim outrage' 'muslim fury' etc etc.

And yes i know about the finances backing him. It's not something i would want to be part of.

But then you have george soros bank rolling united against fascism. Yes the same mugs who share platforms with extreme conservative islamo fascists.

Then we had 50,000 working class demonstrating against islamist violence. The democratic football lads alliance.

Maybe if the elitist fvckers in westmonster had got a grip on islamo fascist violence 50,000 folk would not have been on the street.

As for the two marches tomorrow. The brexit betrayed one and the soros funded other one. Which one will have the most working class taking part?'.............

"If Tommy Robinson is a monster, the left is his Dr Frankenstein
Time and again, the left’s failings have fuelled the Tommy Robinson phenomenon."

Have you heard of the bbc lassie stacey dooley? She done a show from her hometown of luton. She went to the same school as tommy robinson. It's worth a watch to hear the abuse and see the hatred the islamists have for her.........

"Stacey Dooley Investigates Luton"

"There are far too many rich bustards influencing our polls via the media. We need to get a grip such that people are limited to the amount of money they can donate to a political party, £100 maximum I would suggest with instant gaol time for breaches of that."

I'm in total agreement. £100 is too much. I would say £20.................

"And we need to get rid of so called think tanks who are nothing more than paid influencers."

Gasp. You are not trying to say our incorruptible political class are not squeeky clean are you?..............

"And get the rich media barons off our backs. Shoot them if necessary."

And use them as land fill?................

"We need democracy and we are not going to get it while rich people have so much power."

We need more brexits. More yellow vests. We need change.

Maybe it's no your cup of tea but i can send you a copy of Enemy Of The State by email. Then you can read his side. Something the lying press will not make you aware of.

"I don't own a spin dry jacket. ....thank God..
Or I would surely burn it right now.
The feminists were right.

I really enjoyed reading that vlad ...thank you ..

I hope the French really smash Paris up today...
I know, I know, but I can't stand Macron, he
looks like a weird Tom Cruise. They,
our lovely French friends, are in absolute emotional pain
for they directly elected a banker not a banker' s puppet but
the actual Counterfeiting parasite itself."

Now if you had stayed in decent honest work as a spark then a yellow vest you would have.

You should go on off topic more. The Trump Derangement Syndrome TDS is brilliant. Trump is playing them like a fiddle.

On the democrats thread i posted an interesting piece from the grauniad. Even they seem to be seeing how unhinged the intolerant illiberal liberals are becoming.

Anyway. The article talks of their presidential election in 2020. Who will stand against trump?

The geezer then goes on to show the minefield that awaits the democrats. They are so fvcked up over identity politics that i can see a fight of london labour proportions.

Will it be a young/old man? Will he be black/white or latino? Will it be a woman? Will she be young/old? Will she be black/white or latino. Will they be hetrosexual/bisexual or gender fluid.

If the chosen candidate is white then surely that is white privilege? Will they be billionaire socialists or billionaire liberals?

It will be popcorn time.

I see irish tried to rubbish your post about approval ratings. Saying its in the 40's. For someone who gets negative coverage from the lying press, who drives intolerant illiberal liberals into unhinged TDS i think that's quite good.

As for france? With the odious merkel leaving i can't see the other entitled bint who is taking over doing much to stop the rise of the AfD.

Macron will get a nice cushy job when he gets thrown out. Marine le Pen is my choice. The whole french political establishment and lying press were against her and for macron.

How did that work out then frenchies?

I'm wondering if farage will get another political party going? He has basically brought down TWO tory governments.

As for ukip. I don't think having tommy robinson on board will affect them too much. The laddie has masses of support in englandshire. And the political elites and the lying press have a cheek talking about his previous convictions.

Done for a fraud lol. If that is the measure to go by he was only doing what mp's did.

And i have nothing but admiration for him when he steamed into the islamist poppy burners.

Now yous probably don't know this but millions of citizens in european nations are taking great delight in the unhinged TDS that has taken over folk in shermanland.

Trump says something. The intolerant illiberal liberals go full on garrity and as well as TDS usually mention russia as well.

So your next election in 2020 could be interesting. As both socialist and nationalist populist parties are on the rise in europe many see washington as an enemy. A globalist empire.

So IF trump runs again who would the democrats put up as their choice? This wee article below from the grauniad throws up some interesting points..................

"‘The party could explode’: Democrats prepare for wild 2020 ride

Motivated by a sense that American values are on fire, everyone from the young and old to billionaires and political novices are looking to run – but it could get messy.

That huge field will probably include the young and old, men and women, African American, Latino and white people, billionaire capitalists and Democratic socialists, White House veterans and political novices. Motivated by a sense that American values are on fire, it is likely to be the most diverse primary lineup in history.

“We’ve had diversity before but this is the age of identity politics,” said John Zogby, a pollster and author. “A number of newer demographics have come of age. We will also have an age range no one ever thought we could see: a Joe Biden, who’ll be 78 at the time of the election, and a Beto O’Rourke, who’s in his mid-40s.”

But things could get messy, Zogby warned. “The danger here is the party could explode with identity politics and the liberal/progressive split.

Do you have to have a woman on the ticket? Do you have to have an African American on the ticket? Do Latinos say: ‘Hey, it’s our turn, we’ve been loyal.’ If you have a 78-year-old on the ticket, do you need a 42-year-old?”

The principal contenders have not yet officially declared interest, but progressive groups are already polling members about their favourites.

Democracy for Action has drawn up a list of 23 that includes former vice-president Biden (who recently said he thinks he is “the most qualified person in the country to be president”) and Senators Cory Booker, Sherrod Brown, Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand, Amy Klobuchar, Jeff Merkley, Chris Murphy, Bernie Sanders and Warren as well as five members of the House.

Billionaire businessman Tom Steyer, who is campaigning for Trump’s impeachment, makes the poll but fellow tycoon Michael Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York, and ex-Starbucks chief executive Howard Schultz do not.

The list contains three individuals who exceeded expectations (though all lost) in the midterms: O’Rourke, Stacey Abrams of Georgia and Andrew Gillum of Florida.

Neil Sroka, communications director for Democracy for America, said: “There is a certain amount of white privilege that allows people to easily imagine Beto O’Rourke running for president and puts less attention on Abrams or Gillum.”

Democracy for Action endorsed Sanders in December 2015 and will run several polls of its members during 2019. Sroka added: “Anyone who thinks they know who’s going to be the nominee in 2020 is either lying or delusional.

“He or she should fight for racial equality just as hard as he or she fights for economic equality. And we need a president that not only rejects the bigotry, hatred and division of Donald Trump but also puts forward a progressive vision.”

MoveOn also asks members: “What’s most important to you in a candidate?” The first option on the list is: “Is a woman.” The second is: “Is a person of color.” The eighth and last is: “Has the greatest chance of winning against Trump.”

I think a lot of infighting is going to start and identityphobia will get thrown as an insult.

Still. More fun for us across the pond eh?

Just for Vlad - what a surprise
Posted: 12/7/2018 10:11:38 PM
"Oxford and Cambridge are being accused of being so socially exclusive that they recruit more students from eight top schools than almost 3,000 other English state schools put together.

The Sutton Trust social mobility charity says the leading universities are failing to attract a wide enough range of talent. Trust founder Sir Peter Lampl said all young people needed a "fair chance".

Oxford University said they are "very aware" that they "must work harder".

That piqued my interest mate. So i had a wee nose on the t'interweb. What i found was no surprise. Look at the figures about mp's and it is no wonder they have not got a clue about the lives citizens lead................

"Who are the people we elect as politicians? And how do their backgrounds influence what they do when elected?

Income and wealth
* The basic annual salary for MPs is £74,962, not including expenses, while the UK median pre-tax full time salary is £27,600. MPs earn more than the bottom 90% of the country.

* Less than 2% of UK adults are millionaires, while at one point two thirds of David Cameron's cabinet were millionaires. Theresa May's cabinet was similarly unrepresentative.

* Just 7% of children go to private school in the UK, but 48% of Conservative MPs, 17% of Labour MPs and 14% of Lib Dems MPs were privately educated.

The average cost for a place at a private school in the UK is £16,119 a year. St Paul's (which George Osborne attended) and Westminster (attended by Nick Clegg) costs £23,481 and £28,200 respectively for day students.

Compare this to how much most people earn in the UK and you can see how exclusionary this is.

* Cameron was the 19th out of 54 prime ministers to have attended Eton. Attendance at Eton currently costs £37,062 a year.

Only nine (or 17% of) prime ministers have been educated at non-fee paying schools, and many of those were selective grammar schools. Both Jeremy Corbyn and Theresa May attended grammar school.

* Less than 1% of the population study at Oxford or Cambridge universities, compared to 75% of all the UK’s prime ministers and 26% of MPs.

* In 2014, an estimated 9% of MPs studied just one subject at one university – Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Oxford.

The chart below shows how an education in social studies, law, history and philosophy dominated parliament in 2014, and how science and many other fields are absent or under-represented, which will affect which laws and policies are pursued.

Profession and class
* Only 2% of the adult UK population are landlords, while in 2016, 39% of Tory MPs, 26% of Scottish National party MPs and 22% of Labour MPs were landlords."

"This briefing paper provides data on the gender, age, ethnicity and educational backgrounds of MPs elected at the 2017 General Election and how this has changed over time.

52% (339) of MPs elected in 2017 were aged over 50. Following the election, the proportion of MPs aged 70 and over increased to 4% (28). 14 MPs aged under 30 were elected (2% of the total).

82% of MPs were graduates and 24% have attended Oxford or Cambridge. 29% of MPs attended fee-paying schools.

Parliamentary experience
87 MPs elected in 2017 had no previous Parliamentary experience (13%). 551 (85%) had been MPs in the 2015-17 Parliament and 12 were re-elected having served as MPs further in the past.

But class is something our political elites ignore. Identity politics rule..............

"The representation of women and ethnic minorities in Parliament has been on the increase in Britain over the last few years; however, the representation of other social groups, particularly the working classes has been declining.

This was bought into sharp focus following the 2010 British General Election, when the coalition cabinet was almost entirely composed of millionaires and contained more (rich) ethnic minorities and women than it did people from working class backgrounds.

The situation on the Labour side of the house is hardly any better – with recent concerns openly expressed among some backbenchers that the party has been ‘high jacked by a metropolitan elite.’

The Figure below depicts the changes that have taken place in the social background of Labour and Conservative MPs over the last 50 years.

Although never high compared to the proportion of the working class in the population, the number of MPs with a background in manual work has fallen dramatically.

In 1964, 20 per cent of MPs had a working class occupational background, but by 2010 just 5 per cent of MPs had such a background.

This decline is almost entirely due to changes which have occurred within the Labour party, who were traditionally expected to represent working-class people.

In 1964, Labour was not just a party for the working class, but was also a party that was substantially comprised of the working class, with over 37 per cent of the MPs coming from manual occupational backgrounds.

By 2010 this fell to just under 10 per cent."

And yet our political class cannot see that it is not us, the citizens who are out of touch. It is they in their nice cozy career politicians club who have caused untold misery to vast tracts of working class areas in the uk.

Pity we were not like the french. Have mass protests. Look at the damage brexit has caused them? The power is in our hands but the globalists hold all the aces.

Brexit? A coup de grace?

We Demand The Peoples Vote.

Aye those are the same dafties wailing about a 'peoples vote' who never gave a toss about 'the people' before. Can any of yous recall the political elite and their tame lying press showing concern for 'the people' before?

Brexit. Remember when those 'the people' lovers called voters thick, ignorant, racist istismophobes? Oh how they mocked and sneered. 'The people' were idiots. Why have a referendum they sneered? We don't need a referendum they lectured.

Oh go on then. Have a referendum. 'The people' will do as they are told. As usual.

Except we never. We turned them over. NOW they show concern over 'the people'. They did not like the referendum and opposed it. Now they WANT a referendum and dislike those who oppose it.

But who exactly is throwing the mega cash into 'the peoples' vote? Certainly not 'the people'.............

"THE POSH PEOPLE'S VOTE The loaded, leftie elites are conspiring to steal Brexit from Brits – while pretending to represent ‘the people’

The People's Vote campaign group is funded by a circle of rich contacts who want to overturn the decision to leave.

It is an astonishing display of the power of a group that is a product of the manicured lawns of the nation’s public schools, the Establishment and London’s elite financial institutions.

Consummate networker Rudd, 57, is the son of late millionaire stockbroker Tony Rudd — who in 1988 was declared “totally unfit” to be a company director.

He studied at one of the country’s most exclusive public schools, Millfield, before going on to Oxford.

Meanwhile, Rudd has done eye-wateringly well out of Finsbury, selling an 80 per cent share in his firm for £40million in 2001 and earning £5.2million last year as its chairman.

It allows him to own a £23million pad in London’s posh Kensington, and a stately Grade I-listed Georgian pile near the village of Cuckington, Somerset.

Among those recording second referendum videos for him were tax-avoiding presenter Gary Lineker, Australian comedian Tim Minchin and actor Sir Patrick Stewart, who wants to apply for US citizenship.

There were also messages from Old Etonian actor Dominic West, St Paul’s School old boy historian Dan Snow and privately educated screenwriter Armando Iannucci.

Other key backers include Lord Adonis, Lord Kerr, Lord Wallace, former Labour Foreign Secretary David Miliband and former BT chairman Sir Michael Rake.

Rudd is also pals with Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, Labour Europhile Peter Mandelson and former Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg, meaning he has influence in all the major political parties.

Rudd was even friendly enough with ex-Prime Minister Tony Blair to offer his son Euan work experience at Finsbury.

While pro-EU predecessor group Open Britain received donations of £736,500 last year, the People’s Vote group is not open about donors.

They only say that “around half” their funds came from “regular appeals to our support base” and the rest from “other sources”. But one of the big backers has been Superdry founder Julian Dunkerton, who chipped in £1million.

Separate from People’s Vote is another anti-Brexit group, Best For Britain, founded by businesswoman Gina Miller. It also wants a second referendum.

Billionaire investor George Soros, who made a fortune from Britain’s 1992 currency crisis, recently gave this group £500,000 and private equity investor Stephen Peel donated £100,000."

Yep. Those tossers mentioned above are really in touch with 'the people'.

PM Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress

Your hatred of president the donald and most of his electoral base makes for some chucklesome reading. And fair play for your honesty in saying you know next to nothing about politics over here in the uk or europe in general.

You are also someone for whom israel can do no wrong. (Even when they do).

So president the donald moving the sherman embassy cannot have been a good thing?

Seeing as how everything president the donald says or does brings on your TDS.

So do you support the trump hating eu and their hissy fit at said sherman embassy going to jerusalem?..............

"Hungary, the Czech Republic and Romania, in coordination with Israel, today blocked a joint EU statement criticizing the relocation of the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, Israeli officials and European diplomats told me.

Behind the scenes: The initiative to publish the statement was led by France and several other EU member states.

Israeli officials say the goal was to present to the U.S. a common position against the move by all 28 member states, and to embarrass and isolate the Trump administration ahead of Monday's ceremony.

According to European diplomats and Israeli officials, the draft statement circulated in European capitals had three points:

Jerusalem should be the capital of both states — Israel and the future state of Palestine.

The final status of Jerusalem should be negotiated and only determined through negotiations between the parties.

The member states of the EU will not follow the U.S. and will not move their embassies to Jerusalem.

According to European diplomats and Israeli officials the French and other member states wanted to publish the statement today as a statement by the EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini supported by all 28 EU members.

But earlier today, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Romania announced they object to the statement and made it impossible to reach the consensus needed to publish it.

A senior European diplomat told me with a lot of frustration: "The Hungarians didn’t want to poke Trump in the eye and the Czechs and the Romanians are considering to move their embassies to Jerusalem against the EU position.

This is the state of the EU these days". "

Will President Elect Donald Trump go quietly into that good night

As for the midget macron. How good is it to see him getting a deserved kicking? Thousands expected on the streets of france again this weekend. Citizens of ALL political persuasions.

Army vehicles are expected to be stationed on french streets. I think french citizens have now seen that they can topple his government.

But talking of approval ratings, this from the liberal globalist grauniad over here..............

"It comes at a time when Trump’s popularity among his voters is relatively stable by comparison and the American economy is growing. Macron’s fate could have far-reaching consequences for Europe’s political future.

What makes the contrast between Trump’s and Macron’s fortunes so striking is that the two presidents have so much in common.

Both found electoral success by breaking free of their own side: Macron from the left and Trump from mainstream Republicanism; they both moved beyond the old left-right divide.

Both realised that we were seeing the disappearance of the old western middle class.

Both grasped that, for the first time in history, the working people who make up the solid base of the lower middle classes live, for the most part, in regions that now generate the fewest jobs.

It is in the small or middling towns and vast stretches of farmland that skilled workers, the low-waged, small farmers and the self-employed are concentrated. These are the regions in which the future of western democracy will be decided.

But the similarities end there.

While Trump was elected by people in the heartlands of the American rustbelt states, Macron built his electoral momentum in the big globalised cities.

While the French president is aware that social ties are weakening in the regions, he believes that the solution is to speed up reform to bring the country into line with the requirements of the global economy.

Trump, by contrast, concluded that globalisation was the problem, and that the economic model it is based on would have to be reined in (through protectionism, limits on free trade agreements, controls on immigration, and spending on vast public infrastructure building) to create jobs in the deindustrialised parts of the US."

"Approval ratings Donald Trump 50% Emmanuel Macron 18%....You just don't get it ....."

To be fair to posters on here they have declared they know nothing much about what is happening anyplace other than shermanland.

But if you do not show Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) in every post then you MUST be a trump acolyte. But again with the posters being ignorant of anywhere outside of america they are oblivious to the fun millions of citizens are having as liberal globalists go into meltdown everytime president the donald speaks.

Even the liberal globalist media over here are bemused by the TDS...............

"Robert De Niro swearing about Trump epitomises everything that's wrong with liberal America right now
Feeding the divisiveness that led to Trump's election is getting old. It's time to start strategising in favour of Democrats rather gathering round A-listers shouting about how much they hate the President"

And I'm no great lover of the tory press over here either but this in The Times caught my eye..............

"Deranged liberal critics give Trump a boost

The Kavanaugh controversy has united Republicans as never before behind a president once viewed with deep suspicion

Donald Trump is no one’s idea of a god but his ability to reduce his opponents to wailing, gibbering husks, like demented characters in a Greek tragedy, seems increasingly Olympian in its reach."

"wtf is wrong with you trump apologists this week, with all the flattery on the late George Bush (LGB)?"

Who are the trump apologists and who is flattering bush? Because i see nothing of that likesy.

"i know you folks really can't say anything unless conservative news spoonfeeds you what you want to feel and rail against, but you can't think on your own?"

Oh dear. How sad is that? The all knowing wizard of gto against all us spoonfed deplorables. Better watch that high horse mate.............

"I mean, LGB IS THE ESTABLISHMENT REPUBLICAN. You say you voted chump not for the racism, but for his anti-establishment views, and here we are this week hearing how LGB is everything chump is not, and you trumpanzees....can't find anything to say?;

Are we reading the same thread here? Ir is your TDS now affecting EVERY thread?................

"this is the president who sold you THE NEW WORLD ORDER. that global economy crap Vlad et al can't stand."

Er yep. And who on here is praising that? Surely YOU should though. You love globalism and cheap exploited labour.................

"he brought you NAFTA before billy clinton. but Faux News hasn't told you to be angry about it, so you are silent. LGB sent April Glaspee (sic) to tell Saddam it was ok to invade, and when he did, america didn't want to run to the defense of rich oil-ogarchs running to resorts in Europe while we fought their war."

Yes but you are a globalist. Surely you panted with excitement? Yous globalists are very chucklesome sometimes.............

"so LGB repeated the lies of the Kuwaiti ambassador's daughter that Iraqis were pulling babies off incubators. That Iraqi tanks were on the border."

And millions of citizens in europe made plain their anger at the invasion. While you cheered because globalism won. Woo hoo..............

"I thought you guys liked Chump b/c he wasn't warlike as HRC, yet here's LGB getting praised for war propaganda and you trumpanzees hide under a table, afraid to speak out."

You really have TDS bad eh? Can you show me where anyone on this thread is talking about any of that comment of yours?

Ahhhhh got it. You can PRAISE bill and hillary and show your TDS at the same time.

What a poster. What a globalist. What a TDS sufferer.

You should get out more.

Ps have you got ANY points in the OP's post or just your usual run off the mill TDS?

Have you ever heard of a uk politician called tony benn? He was a radical. He hated the eu with a vengeance. Bernie sanders will have known all about him and studied his points of view i would think.

They did meet. This is an extract from tony benns last diary..............

But it is interesting what you say about ted cruz not using his full name. Tony benn never used his either. It was Anthony Neil Wedgwood Benn. He also inherited a title. 2nd Viscount Stansgate.

But because of the title he could not stand as an mp. So he renounced the title and became tony benn.

Anyway tony benn believed in democracy. And his great belief in democracy got him to say that those in positions of economic, social and political power should answer five questions

“What power have you got?”

“Where did you get it from?”

“In whose interests do you use it?”

“To whom are you accountable?”

“How do we get rid of you?”

Now tony benn despised the tories. He had a belief in the working class. I never heard him berate working class folk for the way they chose to vote. I never heard him wish working folk got no health care because of the way they chose to vote.

Argument and workable policies that bettered the lot of the working class were his weapons. Yes attack the ruling class and the government of the time. Expose the government of the day about falsehoods.

But NEVER attack those who voted the way they did. They had THEIR reasons for voting how they did.

Compare that to what the globalists are like commenting regarding brexit/trump. Globalists blame voters rather than the fact they never had any convincing argument to win the demos over.

As i posted on another thread. Sanders was asked about mass migration to shermanland. He opposed it because american workers would suffer. Immigration is in the top three political crisis' in the west. Maybe the democrats should try and form a policy regarding immigration.............

"In July 2015, two months after officially announcing his candidacy for president, Sanders was interviewed by Ezra Klein, the editor in chief of Vox.

Klein asked whether, in order to fight global poverty, the U.S. should consider “sharply raising the level of immigration we permit, even up to a level of open borders.”

Sanders reacted with horror. “That’s a Koch brothers proposal,” he scoffed. He went on to insist that “right-wing people in this country would love … an open-border policy. Bring in all kinds of people, work for $2 or $3 an hour, that would be great for them. "I don’t believe in that. I think we have to raise wages in this country.”

"Sanders came under immediate attack. Vox’s Dylan Matthews declared that his “fear of immigrant labor is ugly—and wrongheaded.” The president of accused Sanders of “the sort of backward-looking thinking that progressives have rightly moved away from in the past years.”

ThinkProgress published a blog post titled “Why Immigration Is the Hole in Bernie Sanders’ Progressive Agenda.” The senator, it argued, was supporting “the idea that immigrants coming to the U.S. are taking jobs and hurting the economy, a theory that has been proven incorrect.”

"Sanders stopped emphasizing immigration’s costs. By January 2016,’s policy director noted with satisfaction that he had “evolved on this issue.”

"somehow I just don't see the humor in 14000 jobs being lost."

Spot on mate. Those who suffer from TDS could not care less how many jobs get lost or how many workers are thrown on the scrapheap. As long as they can show their hatred of trump.

And because many of those working class folk voted for trump then they deserve all they get.

This below is from something called the daily kos. It displays the hatred the entitled feel for workers if they do not do what they are told..............

"For example, why should we weep for the retired coal miners who will now lose their health insurance thanks to the GOP majority—despite the best efforts of coal-state Democrats to change the outcome?"

The comments section of the article above was interesting reading. Apart from a few dissenting voices nearly all those who commented supported the main point of the article.

One geezer who posted though made a very good point. He said that homosexuals were told to use protection against aids when having sex. Did those who did not wear protection and got the virus deserve to die of aids? If not then why do coal miners deserve to not get healthcare because they voted the 'wrong way'.

We have the same over here regarding brexit. Vast tracts of the uk were de industrialised and workers discarded. In turn they voted brexit. Yet our globalists hope that many jobs will be lost.

Have a read at this and you will probably see the same thinking that drove brexit/trump votes............

‘We don’t exist to them, do we?’
‘Well all of us ******* who don’t exist are voting out tomorrow’.

Before the referendum, I had been working with a group of local working-class men and women in London’s East End as part of ‘The Great British Class Survey’ at the LSE.

However, for most working class people like ‘Sally’ and the other women, the debates were centred upon the constant struggle of their own lives, and they connected those struggles to their mothers’ and grandmothers’ hardships, but also to their children’s future.

They saw little hope that life would become fairer for them.

The referendum was a turning point for the women in east London.

They had not voted in the 2015 General Election: they had little interest or faith in a political system seated only three miles away when their daily and immediate situation needed constant attention.

When ‘Sally’ told me she was going to use her vote for the first time to leave, I asked her if she thought things would change for the better if we were to Brexit.

She said she didn’t know, and didn’t care. She just couldn’t stand things being the same."

"^^^ look on the bright side. A few hundred more likely jobs for steel workers. I can't handle all of the Trump winning."

Back to the same old same old eh? You were doing well with posts for a while as well. Ah well. So sad.

Hope you had a good holiday mate. Anyway time to resume hostilities so to speak

"How does that equate with clinton sucking up to wall street? She has made much money from them has she not?"
>>.its an interesting mindset to believe this is anything different from voting a real estate investor into office. wealthy investors are a big part of america's labor problem, regardless of what they invest in."

And therein lies a problem. Folk from a blue collar background never seem to get put forward as candidates. They know more about the lives of those at the bottom than the unholy trinity of lawyer, eastate agent and career politicians..............

">>>and yet its the Democrats who write laws to restrict it. BUT, the narrative is that dems are terrible for business with all their restrictions...until its popular to say they are in the pocket of Wall Street. so, are they or aren't they...or is the answer not so black and white?"

Can you show me a good example of where democrats have restricted wall street mate?..........

">>>here in america, if Republican voters wanted an anti-Establishment candidate, they had Ted Cruz, the man who speaks Spanish and shuts down the government to reduce deficits. Maybe his funny sounding last name didn't remind them of anyone they knew,"

I just had a quick gander about ted cruz. He seems well embedded with the establishment as far as i can see. And you cannae help it eh? Everything back to race. So if as you claim it's all about race why does he do so well in texas?

Do you never consider that folk may have genuine grievances about the way their lives are? Blue collar workers have watched a succession of career politicians who did not represent them. Yet the simplistic answer is race. It MUST be eh? What a weak argument..............

"Its always interesting when those with TDS raise the issue of clinton and obama exporting more immigrants...b/c they claim they had to vote for chump b/c the dems were coddling the immigrants. so which is the truth and what is the lie? if the dems were exporting more, than HRC should have been voted in to keep the policies going. and of course, the real kicker--if exporting immigrants helps the real americans get jobs with higher pay, can you please show us the chart where this happened while the dems were expelling so many?"

Psst. MAYBE folk voted the way they did because they had been abandoned by washington and were struggling? Or is that not a feasable thought when racism can be the only answer............

"as for the NRA..when they imagined a good guy with a gun, he of course was white as bread :)"

And once more race is used. From what we see on telly over here it seems not just white folk have guns. Personally i cannot fathom the sherman love of guns. And why machine guns can be purchased makes no sense to me.

"But has the claim that “immigrants coming to the U.S. are taking jobs” actually been proved “incorrect”? A decade ago, liberals weren’t so sure.

In 2006, Krugman wrote that America was experiencing “large increases in the number of low-skill workers relative to other inputs into production, so it’s inevitable that this means a fall in wages.”

So politicians like sander who seen the link between mass immigration of unskilled cheap exploitable labour and wages falling were shouted and closed down by pro mass immigration types. And yet................

"According to a comprehensive new report by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, “Groups comparable to … immigrants in terms of their skill may experience a wage reduction as a result of immigration-induced increases in labor supply.”

But academics sometimes de-emphasize this wage reduction because, like liberal journalists and politicians, they face pressures to support immigration."

Now it seems plain to me that people like sanders KNEW the problem. Yet they abandoned their principles and in turn abandoned the working class...............

"Many of the immigration scholars regularly cited in the press have worked for, or received funding from, pro-immigration businesses and associations. Consider, for instance, Giovanni Peri, an economist at UC Davis whose name pops up a lot in liberal commentary on the virtues of immigration.

A 2015 New York Times Magazine essay titled “Debunking the Myth of the Job-Stealing Immigrant” declared that Peri, whom it called the “leading scholar” on how nations respond to immigration, had “shown that immigrants tend to complement—rather than compete against—the existing work force.” Peri is indeed a respected scholar. But Microsoft has funded some of his research into high-skilled immigration"

Now there's a shock. A pro immigration 'theorist' bought at paid for by a pro immigration globalist business.......

"The problem is that, although economists differ about the extent of the damage, immigration hurts the Americans with whom immigrants compete. And since more than a quarter of America’s recent immigrants lack even a high-school diploma or its equivalent, immigration particularly hurts the least-educated native workers, the very people who are already struggling the most.

America’s immigration system, in other words, pits two of the groups liberals care about most—the native-born poor and the immigrant poor—against each other."

Sanders recognised this. He knew american workers were headed to the bottom as there were too many folk chasing the same jobs...........

"One way of mitigating this problem would be to scrap the current system, which allows immigrants living in the U.S. to bring certain close relatives to the country, in favor of what Donald Trump in February called a “merit based” approach that prioritizes highly skilled and educated workers."

Now a policy that i would think most working class could agree with. America does not need more poor folk. They need skilled folk. Sanders probably supported this. He could see the problem. Yet he abandoned workers. The democrats abandoned workers. So workers abandoned them. Quid Pro Quo............

"A better answer is to take some of the windfall that immigration brings to wealthier Americans and give it to those poorer Americans whom immigration harms.

Borjas has suggested taxing the high-tech, agricultural, and service-sector companies that profit from cheap immigrant labor and using the money to compensate those Americans who are displaced by it."

Now there is a cracking policy. A vote winner. Make the companies who love cheap exploited labour who will work for next to nothing pay the money they save in wages to help train sherman youngsters.............

"The next Democratic presidential nominee should commit those words to memory. There’s a reason Barack Obama’s declaration at the 2004 Democratic National Convention that “there is not a liberal America and a conservative America … There is not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there’s the United States of America” is among his most famous lines"

To achieve that statement of obamas though would mean moving away from 'identity' politics............

"In 2014, the University of California listed melting pot as a term it considered a “microaggression.”
What if Hillary Clinton had traveled to one of its campuses and called that absurd?
What if she had challenged elite universities to celebrate not merely multiculturalism and globalization but Americanness?
What if she had said more boldly that the slowing rate of English-language acquisition was a problem she was determined to solve?

What if she had acknowledged the challenges that mass immigration brings, and then insisted that Americans could overcome those challenges by focusing not on what makes them different but on what makes them the same?
Some on the left would have howled. But I suspect that Clinton would be president today."

As far as i can see the democrats have no coherent immigration policy. They are frightened to 'offend'.

Yet my sherman friends immigration is one of the most contentious problems in our nations. Allowing thousands of unskilled, non english speaking migrants will be a disaster. I know european politics are alien to most of yous. But just look at the backlash in european nations because of allowing millions of undocumented economic migrants to pile over borders.

Virtually every nation in europe is seeing a rise in popularity of anti mass immigration, anti eu, anti liberal parties.

In the uk a couple of years back we had around 300,000 east europeans arrive. And around 400,000 non eu citizens arrive.

700,000 folk a year. Who all need housing, health care, education and either work/benefits. There are schools in englandshire where the majority of bairns do not speak english. Mass ghettos are being formed in many english towns and cities where citizens are divided along religious lines.
The one thing yous have in your favour is the size of your country.
But yous have many cities divided along racial divides. We had a couple of documentaries over here about hispanic gangs trying to drive black gangs out of areas in los angeles.
Yet your politicians seem to either ignore or just do not care.

Interesting the mentions of bernie sanders. He would have been the better choice. But i recently got an app for something called the atlantic. In depth articles mainly with a liberal leaning. Anyway i was reading this yesterday. IF sanders was to run again he would i think need to have a coherent immigration policy.

Anyway all quoted bits are from the atlantic article. And i would welcome any comments which can explain to me how liberals would deal with immigration.

And platy. Your doing well answering without displaying TDS. Keep it up................

"If the right has grown more nationalistic, the left has grown less so. A decade ago, liberals publicly questioned immigration in ways that would shock many progressives today.

In 2005, a left-leaning blogger wrote, “Illegal immigration wreaks havoc economically, socially, and culturally; makes a mockery of the rule of law; and is disgraceful just on basic fairness grounds alone.”

In 2006, a liberal columnist wrote that “immigration reduces the wages of domestic workers who compete with immigrants” and that “the fiscal burden of low-wage immigrants is also pretty clear.” His conclusion: “We’ll need to reduce the inflow of low-skill immigrants.”

That same year, a Democratic senator wrote, “When I see Mexican flags waved at proimmigration demonstrations, I sometimes feel a flush of patriotic resentment. When I’m forced to use a translator to communicate with the guy fixing my car, I feel a certain frustration.”

The blogger was Glenn Greenwald. The columnist was Paul Krugman. The senator was Barack Obama."

Now I've never heard of the first two but the third name is familiar. So that WAS common thought by liberal types less than 20 years ago.............

"A larger explanation is political. Between 2008 and 2016, Democrats became more and more confident that the country’s growing Latino population gave the party an electoral edge.

To win the presidency, Democrats convinced themselves, they didn’t need to reassure white people skeptical of immigration so long as they turned out their Latino base. “The fastest-growing sector of the American electorate stampeded toward the Democrats this November"

So it would be a fair assumption that the democrats rather cynically in my eyes chose to abandon the white working class would it not?..................

"Alongside pressure from pro-immigrant activists came pressure from corporate America, especially the Democrat-aligned tech industry, which uses the H-1B visa program to import workers.

"In 2010, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, along with the CEOs of companies including Hewlett-Packard, Boeing, Disney, and News Corporation, formed New American Economy to advocate for business-friendly immigration policies. Three years later, Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates helped found to promote a similar agenda."

And now big business applied pressure. Now why exactly would large sherman companies want a nice cheap exploitable poor folk from poor nations?................

"This combination of Latino and corporate activism made it perilous for Democrats to discuss immigration’s costs, as Bernie Sanders learned the hard way.
In July 2015, two months after officially announcing his candidacy for president, Sanders was interviewed by Ezra Klein, the editor in chief of Vox.

Now that above interview with sanders is quite revealing. He knows full well masses of poor immigrants will drive down wages for workers already toiling to survive in shermanland. I see the koch brothers mentioned a lot on here. And there is sanders saying unlimited immigration of cheap unskilled labour is what the neo con republicans would like...............

So sanders knew cheap migrant labour drives down wages for ALL blue collar workers (not just the white ones) big business accuses him of 'backward' thinking because he believed mass migration hurt the working class..........

"Sanders stopped emphasizing immigration’s costs. By January 2016,’s policy director noted with satisfaction that he had “evolved on this issue.”

So sanders capitulated. And for that alone he has lost his man of the people title. He moved from being a blue collar worker champion to being a tool of big business..............

"And if they see 2 people walking down the street, one person with darker features than the other....who do you think they will bet on as being Muslim?"

How religophobic is that response? Maybe the darker featured person is a christian. So YOU judge folks religion by their skin colour? Like WOW.............

"What #MeToo has done is made Lewinsky see the issue of consent differently. “I now see how problematic it was the two of us even got to a place where there was a question of consent"

ahhh, when all else fails....just pop open a bottle of "whatabout-isms ^^^"
whatabout Bill
whatabout hillary and Bill
whatabout hillary, bill and monica
whatabout hillary, bill, monica and harvey, etc!"

But do you not see that being 'outraged' about trumps antics regarding women loses a lot of it's 'outrage' when those being 'outraged' were never 'outraged' when THEIR chosen politicians antics against women became known?

And it IS a valid point mentioning clinton and HIS abuse of women.............

"Tarana Burke, the founder of the #MeToo movement, has said it is "tragic" that Hillary Clinton believes that former President Bill Clinton did not abuse his position of power during his affair with then-White House intern Monica Lewinsky in the 1990s."

Voters were supposed to be 'outraged' about trump and his abuse of power regarding women and vote for someone who's husband, when president abused his power regarding women is to be excused?

Did the irony of her statement sail over folks heads?...............

"Its hard not to see that in your above ramblings, that your efforts in pointing out Bill and Hilary's improprieties in juxtapostion to Trump is a lame attempt to make him look less dispicable or less distasteful"

I could not give a donald duck about donald trump. All i knew of him before he ran for president was the shenanigans regarding his golf course up the north east coast of Scotland.

But when obama AND clinton threatened the uk over trade regarding the brexit vote i wanted trump to win. He said when asked that it was up to the uk's citizens how they voted.............

"I'm sure the citizens earning a pittance in wages to manufacture goods for the american empire will be glad the american empire is paying them a $1 a day wages
That $1 dollar America "pays" a dollar more that what your empire paid your unwilling subjects for nearly 500 years."

Err is that not a bit of what-aboutery there then? As for your question. I do not know what workers were paid under the british empire. I was not alive then. And there was no empire when i was born or growing up.

You my friend are alive though. You are a citizen from the land where the american empire casts it's power over the world. And you sound quite happy that workers get a $1.

But if you are unhappy about this abuse of workers who are exploited by globalism then what are you doing about it?

"Because Hillary lacks the innate talent to showcase herself on the stage; but because she lacks pizzazz, it does not mean she has not pushed legislation (as senator) that helped empower the working class people. Much of that does not come to the forefront, nor can it be embelished or sensationalized."

Am i to take from that then that sherman voters cast their votes for personality rather then policies then?........

"and this is a credit to Trump's ability as a con-man......coupled together with Hillary's ineptutude in convincing the masses...who were growing tired of the usual "washington politics" embodied by both parties."

But if the masses were fed up of the washington belt political parties and then voted for trump then how were they conned?..................

"HC made the added mistake by thinking that she was going to get votes simply because she was aiming to be the first woman president, and lost her focus along the way."

Exactly. She played her 'identity' card. And lost..................

"Blacks did not vote for her as much because she was unconvincing......many who did vote cast their ballots for Sanders."

But sanders was not the democratic party challenger. And are you saying clinton put forward policies that offered black folk nothing?..............

"They were not racist because when her husband won the presidency....Blacks turned out in record numbers for him! Not once but twice!"

And yet it has been posted on here that the vote for trump was because of the racist vote. Yet many trump voters voted for obama. Twice..............

"4.4 million 2012 Obama voters stayed home in 2016 — more than a third of them black" see above responses!

In your ignorance, what you do not understand is that it was the Democratic party that truly lost the election, because they threw all their backing behind a candidate who THEY KNEW.... was suspect and had issues from the start!"

Would you like to pat my head when you patronise me? And is that the reason i do not understand why the democrats lost? Then why can YOU not understand why trump won then?...............

"The democrats were betting that she was going to win, not because of her own merits & talents...but instead they felt that when it came right down to it......the voters would NOT pull the lever for a crooked, loud mouthed lying buffoon...with no political experience,........ over Hillary!"

So the democratic party machine once more ignored voters and assumed they could put forward any candidate they wanted? What voters wanted counted for nothing. Didn't work out to well for them did it?.............

"I know. You are correct. Why did voters just not see that globalism is really GOOD for them in the long run?

^your ignorance of our politics is glaring!
Her defeat was not because she represented globalism Vs. Trump representing Nationalism
If Obama could have run a 3rd term............he would have beaten Trump least in the 3 northern states that HC could not win (WI, MI, and PA) needed to capture the electoral votes!"

See? There you go again. Rather than try and explain the intricacies of your political system to a foreigner you just patronise. The obama point makes no sense. After two shots he cannot run again so the hypothetical point is void. And if you think globalism did not play a part then you are delusional...............

"as I said, all politics is dirty....but to really be has been consistently shown that it is the Republicans who coddle the supremacists, making sure they send out the "dog-whistle" messages, empathizing with their hate and YES, the democrats are well justified in playing the race card...face-up on the game table!"

So the race card is fine to play as long as it is your player playing it? How racist..................

"not at all, but given the geographic origin of most Muslims, it is highly likley that most will have a skin tone a few shades darker that Trump's..................couple that with the fact that most haters are very visual and focus on color!"

You mean like the democrats playing the race card?.................

"Why is Trump our President? Easy...lots of angry people, lots of people left behind, lots of people frustrated by the generic politicians that do nothing for them...and you know...they all had a reason for voting out the establishment, the problem is they were manipulated into voting for a man who does nothing for them...just makes matters worse, not better...which goes to show some of the people can be fooled all of the time."

Woo hoo. AT LAST. You have made the point that i and many others have made about WHY the donald became president the donald.

Yes i agree many many racists voted for trump. But countless millions voted because they feel the political process in your nation just did not give a toss about them and their problems.

There were many reasons as to why they voted how they did. And at last you have posted a reply which gets to the point of why they voted as they did.

It makes for a far more interesting debate rather than just insulting folk who voted the 'wrong' way. Keep up posts like that mate............

"Vlad, I accuse you of being clueless about what is going on here because you are so obviously clueless about what goes on here."

Am i? Can you point out some things i am clueless about then? But could you also try, you being fully clued up, as to why millions of voters who voted for obama switched their support to trump?

And as you are ITK can you explain why over 4 million black voters who voted for obama chose not to vote for the 'white woman' candidate?

Should be easy. I mean you are fully clued up.............

"There is no such thing as TDS."

You reckon lol. You my friend have it bad. It is actually amusing to read the deranged and unhinged TDS.............

"There is only the reality of TTD, Trump the Diseased."

Yep. Prime example of TDS...........

"If you lived here, we're intelligent, educated, well read, not a sycophantic politician, not a racist, you would see what we who know what is going on see. Sorry."

How come all yous intelligent, educated, well read intolerant illiberal liberals never seen trump becoming president then?

Yous had your fingers right on the pulse there eh? Did you vote for sex pest bill clinton? It is well reported and recorded that he introduced more policies that discriminated against black citizens than any other president.

Or is that 'acceptable' racism? Yous highly intelligent ones like to pick and choose your 'outrage' eh?

Yep full on TDS I'm afraid gadgie. So sad.

"you earn too much money! £45 quid for one months TV. No wonder footballers and Murdoch are so rich.

Switch it off, throw it away, read books. Be boring like me :-0"

Well it balances out. I don't pay the tv tax to the bbc. I do not subscribe to sky sports or sky movies so auld murdoch benefits nada from my good self.

But i do have a telephone and a decent speed broadband connection included in the £45.

I also use the wifi connection on my mobile and my kindle.

And the modem powers the amazon firestick. Which as i stated i have the global entertainment app which cost £30 for six months. This gives me over 3,000 channels.

Including all the sky sports, movies and pay per views.

So i am quite a happy bunny now

So rat bairn has stones in her liver. They are operating on them on Monday. Then she is home to rest and go back in again and get her gall bladder removed.

At least we know what the problem is now.

Virgin media. Phoned this morning and got put through to a supervisor. South african geezer.

'Yes you are getting our top deal sir'

And a contract that i neither asked for or signed for.

'Yes but the deal is good sir. Virgin media are the top provider in the uk. The public have said so'

Eh not if you go into google and search for virgin media terrible customer service mate.

'But you have a great deal sir'

Just put me through to cancellations mate.

Anyway got a sound lad from manchester. Ends up he is the only red in a blue family. His middle name is francis lee lol

So the years contract has gone. The current bill of £86 has been reduced to £57. He also allowed me to downgrade the tv package. My monthly bill is now £45

"Why should he have time for Jenner, when he is a deviant in his own right."

Maybe that's why him and bill clinton were close for a short time then eh? There's a lovely photie of bill, hillary, president the donald and melania on this link. All smiles and buddy buddy............

"Why do you think he bought the rights to Ms America his own words he was skulking in the changing rooms all the time....the "boss' was trying to sneak a peak at young girls dis-robing, getting his cheap thrills! What a great perk he had!"

I've stated before and will do again. Trump should have become president first and THEN used his position to molest impressionable young lassies. It worked for bill clinton.................

"What #MeToo has done is made Lewinsky see the issue of consent differently. “I now see how problematic it was the two of us even got to a place where there was a question of consent.” What happened she now says, was “a gross of abuse of power”.

Indeed he was 27 years older than her, and the most powerful man on the planet.

Why now does this matter? Because consent matters. Because #MeToo matters, and because Trump is in the White House with another woman who will stand by her man. This time it’s his daughter, Ivanka.

Trump, of course, was happy enough to use women who had accused Clinton of sexual harassment as part of his election campaign.

On the campaign trail, Hillary Clinton was asked about Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey. Elsewhere, she had said women should be believed.

The pact made by Hillary and Bill was one that is instinctively repulsive to me, not because I care about fidelity but because I care about class.

Certain kinds of women are fair game for harassment while others are not.

Likewise, certain kinds of men who are on “our side” are let off with being laddy, gropey, handsy, rapey – because, hell knows, the other lot are worse."

"Hillary and Bill's intimate dinner with Harvey Weinstein weeks after her election loss - showing just how close the Clintons were to the 'serial rapist' movie mogul"

Birds of a feather type thing eh?............

"people would have nothing to fear by the likes of Jenner (or how he dresses up)"

They would if their lassies clothes were lying around................

".......but I would (or the young girls) should have a great deal to FEAR....from a dirty old man (in control) sneaking around them."

But bill clinton is not in the white house anymore. He is hanging out with his and hillarys friend harvey weinstein. Tsk. And you say I'M clueless...............

"Like I said...your sheer ignorance affords you some pity...but for only so so much. A segment of republicans make blatant/unhidden straight forward efforts to identify (and curry votes) from the racist element...and then you accuse their opponents for "playing the race card" on them????, are you playing with a full deck!"

M'lud the defence would like to introduce ONCE AGAIN some information that appears to have disappeared down the memory hole regarding playing the race card...........

"It’s August of a Presidential election year. Must be time for Democrats to play the race card.

"To be fair, Democrats play the race card every day, on every network, every single year. They have to. Their record of achievement with African-American voters - on poverty, on black-on-black crime, on education, on wages, on the unprecedented number of African-Americans on Food Stamps - is abysmal."

"and if you concentrate hard enough, maybe you can transport yourself back to a time when "Brittania ruled the waves", "

Why on earth would i do that? I couldn't give a toss about the 'empire'. Thankfully it is over. And a new empire has taken over. I believe it is called the United States Of America..............

"and puff out your chest, hold your nose high....knowing fully well that none of the harshly oppressed folks (who you were unwillingly made your subjects), would ever have the audacity to call you a racist."

Are you going to join me then? Me from the old empire and you from the new one? I'm sure the citizens earning a pittance in wages to manufacture goods for the american empire will be glad the american empire is paying them a $1 a day wages rather than bombing the shite out of those whom the american empire believe have not embraced globalism.

Are you SURE it's me who doesn't have a clue?

"Reply to poster 5370
Let me first say 3 things to start!
1. You are TOTALLY clueless of the American political experience"

Are you just parroting what Platy says or did you think that up all by yourself?...............

"2. Your clueless-ness is obvious by you mentioning HC in the same breath as Sharpton & Farrakan"

Why? All are obsessed by 'identity' politics.................

"3. You seem to be one very nasty (or bitter) individual...either that or you are just a troll"

Oh dear. Just as well i have no valium left. That remark cut me to the quick..............

"But I pity your ignorance."

You sure your no Platy?............

"In case you didn't know; all politicians are "dirty"...........but amid her "dirtiness" HC has actually done more for blue collar/working class (in a lesser political rank) than Trump aims to do....she came from a working class world...unlike Trump who was raised to be a crook by his father."

This is great. I'm learning something new every day. Yep hillary certainly appealed to them working class types eh? Now can you explain why voters who voted TWICE for obama then cast their vote for trump?..........

"Mr Trump persuaded about 7m people who voted for Barack Obama in 2012, most of them white, working-class and malcontent, to vote for him. Many had not voted Republican before."

And how do you explain those black folks not voting for her? Are you claiming that they are 'racist' because they never voted for the 'white woman'? Or are they just ungrateful?...........

"4.4 million 2012 Obama voters stayed home in 2016 — more than a third of them black"

Aye she REALLY appealed to folk eh?...............

"Now if you consider that "standing up for the poor and disenfranchised" makes one a working class hater....then you go well beyond "arse-holism""

I know. You are correct. Why did voters just not see that globalism is really GOOD for them in the long run?........

"Not sure Wtf you are trying to say....but Trump sees race in everything, and this guides what comes out of his mouth."

Are you sure it is myself that is clueless?...............

"Nutty white supremacists can kill scores of innocents in schools, places of worship, etc...and not a word from Trump about these hate crimes (other than what has been scripted for him by somebody with a bit of a conscience),..........."

TDS ALERT...............

"but let it be someone with dark skin with an Islamic name"

Are you saying only dark skinned folk have islamic names? How 'racist'.............

"Calls himself a "nationalist" (a buzz-word of course), and all his bird-brain followers take it all in."

Is that trumps version of the democrats 'identity' buzz word (the democrats bird brained followers love a bit of 'identity)...............

"The question is: Is there even one hater; racist or deviant.......... that Trump can ever distance himself from?

Its like being transported back in the deep south in the 1950's.....when lynchings were not at all uncommon."

How about hillary clinton? She hates americas working class. Or the 'rev' al sharpton? How about louis farrakhan?

I'm also sure prez the donald wouldn't spend too much time with stupid white dafties pretending islam is a race rather than a lifestyle choice and screeching islamophobia lol

How the fvck can you have a phobia about a religion!!!!!!!!!!!! But saying that intolerant illiberal liberal hatred of Christianity must also be a phobia then.

As for devients I'm sure president the donald won't have much time for bruce jenner. The weirdo who wore his lassies clothes.

Lol transported back to the deep south. What an arsehole of a statement.

Playing the race card you mean? Like clinton and the democrats done?

You sure you've not been transported back to a 'safe area' at uni where yous can all cry like big girls blouses lol

So rat bairn is in hossie. MRI scan today. Gall stones. She is in the hossie at the bottom of my street. Yes this shining example of neo liberal greed is good.............

"HEALTH chiefs were today facing demands for an inquiry after it emerged the NHS will have to pay a total of £1.26 billion for the privately built Edinburgh Royal Infirmary - and still not own it."

"Fury as “exploited” hospital patient shells out £82 for four days’ television"

But i digress. Today i thought i would try and cut some bills down by downsizing. So belled EE and they were no problem.

I phoned virgin media to get rid of an overpriced tv package. The lassie said 'oh but your contract you 'signed' on the 30th of october does not finish for a year'.

Eh what contract hen? I phoned on the 30th october to get BT sport so i could watch the football.

'Yes and you 'signed' a new yearly contract'.

No i didn't. I told the lassie i was not wanting tied for a year.

'We sent you an email on the 31st october for you to 'sign'.

Yes and i never 'signed' the email. It is still blank.

By this time i was getting pissed off. So i said she would be better getting a supervisor and i will shout at them because they earn more money.

Awaiting a phone call.

So i looked online. It seems virgin media renew contracts for you. To save you the stress.

If you have virgin media beware. Because if you choose to say put the football on for a month virgin AUTOMATICALLY put you on a years new contract. Even if you are only 5 month into the original contract.

I've emailed the complaints department and requested a SARS copy of the telephone call. This will prove new contract was never mentioned.

After new year i am giving them 30 days notice to end the contract because i am moving house.

Not that i am but i think Now TV for the telly and Plus Net for the broadband.

Just beware folks of those money grabbing rodents.

And ps
Do any of yous have an amazon firestick? You can install kodi onto it. The youtube clip shows ye how.

All you need is iptv. It costs me £30 for six months. 3,228 channels i have. Uk, irish, american, canadian etc. All the movie channels. All the sports channels. PPV channels. Club football channels. And i accidentally went on to the HD triple xxx channels.

I was shocked.

And as for the migrant caravan and the humanitarian situation. Is the 'outrage' the intolerant illiberal liberals feel because of their unhinged TDS?

Because they certainly do not give a fvck about this that the obama administration helped facilitate............

"Yemen: up to 85,000 young children dead from starvation"

And why are shermanlands intolerant illiberal liberals who throw their crocodile tears at the migrant caravan because of their TDS not up in arms about the democrat administration under obama who have helped cause misery, starvation and war crimes in yemen?

Ooops forgot. That was THEIR president who was in charge............

"More than a hundred and forty mourners were killed and five hundred were wounded in the strike. Afterward, Yemeni investigators unearthed a tail fin of one of the bombs.

The serial number indicates that the bomb, a Mark-82—a sleek steel case eighty-seven inches long, twelve inches in diameter, and filled with five hundred pounds of explosive—was produced by Raytheon, the third-largest defense company in the United States.

The bomb had been modified with a laser guidance system, made in factories in Arizona and Texas, called a Paveway-II. The weapons are sometimes referred to as “dumb bombs with graduate degrees.”

“They had been sold to the Saudis on the understanding that they would make their targeting more accurate,” Mark Hiznay, the associate arms director at Human Rights Watch, told me"

There has been much coverage over here about the murder of the journalist in the saudi arabian embassy in turkey. There has been much outrage about president the donalds reaction to said murder.

Full on TDS attacking him for saying america will still trade with saudi arabia. Yet a wee bit digging and reading makes me wonder why there was no sense of outrage about the following below.

I wonder why?...............

"Obama, in an awkward twist, becomes Saudi Arabia's defender

Long a critic, the president now finds himself in the uncomfortable spot of protecting the austere desert monarchy from Congress.

Despite these differences, Obama has promised to veto a bill that Congress passed unanimously allowing families of 9/11 victims to sue Saudi Arabia over alleged links to the 2001 terrorist attacks.

And many of the same U.S. lawmakers happy to make it easier to sue the Saudis just this week green-lit a $1.15 billion arms sale to the country.

"Does no one sense the irony?” asked Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, one of a handful of lawmakers who tried to block the weapons deal in the Senate.

The perception in many quarters, however, is that Obama is coming to the aid of a country with much to hide.

Fifteen of the 19 hijackers on Sept. 11, 2001, were Saudi nationals.

And the recent declassification of roughly 30 pagesfrom a 2002 congressional probe into the 9/11 attacks raised more questions about Saudi government ties to Islamist extremists."

So those unhinged by TDS over the murder of the journalist and who are DEMANDING action be taken against saudi arabia and that trade deals and arms deals with the suadis are morally wrong were silent over obamas refusal to stop trading with the saudis.

Curiouser and curiouser

And even more strange is their silence over the slaughter in yemen and atrocities committed by the Saudis. But obviously twas not president the donald in charge then............

"From 2009 to 2016, the Obama administration authorized a record $115bn in military sales to Saudi Arabia, far more than any previous administration. Of that total, US and Saudi officials signed formal deals worth about $58bn, and Washington delivered $14bn worth of weaponry."

So on the news over here we get coverage of the migrant caravan. Embedded reporters. Some very harrowing scenes of mothers with bairns.
So this is roughly the figures being mentioned...............

"The Associated Press reports that the number of migrants has swelled to about 5,000, but an official in Mexico has put the number as high as 7,000."

Yet sky news reports that a lot of mexican citizens are disgruntled............

"Tensions have risen in Tijuana as members of the Central American migrant caravan continue to arrive at the Mexican border city, while US troops continue to tighten security along the frontier.

On Sunday, anti-caravan protesters chanted: “Out Hondurans, we don’t want you here”, “Tijuana first” and “Long live Mexico”, and waved Mexican flags and signs reading “no to the invasion” and “no more migrants”.

The group, which at its height numbered about 300, gathered in front of a statue of the Aztec warrior Cuauhtémoc before making their way to a sports complex serving as a temporary shelter to about 2,500 migrants from the caravan."

Violence and poverty seem to be the main causes. So i would say allow families through to be held somewhere until they can be screened and their stories verified. No one wants their bairns living in a war zone (although some cities in america seem quite close).

As for single folk travelling i think it causes problems. Economic refugees are not asylum seekers. And as such i would say that economic refugees are not americas problem.

Merkels disastrous policy of allowing the worlds poor into germany would i think be seen as a warning of sorts.

The vast majority of those arriving were young single males who could not be classed as asylum seekers. And why did europe need hundreds of thousands of young (mainly) males when youth unemployment is horrific.........

"Reality check: Youth unemployment in the eurozone has been stuck between 19% to 25% for the past eight years. In Spain and Greece, it's north of 40%.
For comparison, youth unemployment in the U.S. is just below 10%."

America will not be doing the south american poor a good turn by allowing those already at the border into the usa.

This will then send a message to others to do the same. Globalism is a big part of the problem. Where the only thing that matters is neo liberalism, profit and cheap exploited labour.

Even flip flop clinton can see the way the wind is blowing.

"Yep. Things are askew in the education front. Immigrants are blamed though. Besides, like i have said, with the shortages we have, plenty of work for all skilled tradesmen, one reason johns complaints fall on my deaf ears."

Who on here is blaming immigrants?

Yes there is plenty of work for skilled tradesmen. So why have your nations various governments and your education system helped to destroy apprenticeships which would train youngsters in skills?

A bairn with a biscuit arse can see if no training is offered then no skills are learned. Creating a skills shortage.

But i was interested regarding the TDS over his immigration policies. Seems the democratic party machine forgot about THEIR immigration laws..................

"In 1996, Democratic President Bill Clinton signed the harshest immigration bill that this nation had seen in decades. The effects of this bill linger and hang over any efforts for “immigration reform.”

The truth is that the “centrist” Bill Clinton signed the most draconian immigration bill of our lifetime. President Barack Obama has deported more people than any President in the nation’s history. Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton promises immigration reform, but what exactly would that reform look like?

IIRIRA greatly expanded the types of crimes that could result in the deportation of a foreign national. This included lawful permanent residents. And the Clinton bill made those changes retroactive, thereby boosting the number of possible (probable) deportations.

The law also made many immigrants subject to mandatory detention while their immigration cases were being decided. This pre-trial hammer was used to make frustrated, imprisoned immigrants give up their effort to stop deportation and simply go home. An underfunded deportation judicial system only meant that these immigrants had to wait longer and longer while in lockup for their day in court.

Finally, the 1996 law made it almost impossible for undocumented immigrants to receive cancellation of removal. This is a form of relief for longtime undocumented immigrants who had not committed crimes to stay in the country. IIRIRA made it almost impossible to obtain such relief.

Proponents of immigration reform and immigration advocates are understandably appalled by the harsh rhetoric coming from the Republican party on this issue. But it cannot and should not be lost on any one who follows this issue that the Democrats have a lot of blame for our current situation as well."

And yet hillary had a change of heart regarding illegal immigrants. She is now their friend...............

"Clinton said she will defend President Barack Obama’s stalled executive actions designed to protect from deportation up to 5 million undocumented immigrants.

Clinton wants to make it easier for people to become U.S. citizens. Clinton says she would expand fee waivers so that money isn’t an obstacle for the estimated 9 million people eligible for citizenship"

Yet i read this today. Hillary has changed her mind AGAIN regarding immigration. Much like she did with ttip..........

"Hillary Clinton: Europe must curb immigration to stop rightwing populists

“I think Europe needs to get a handle on migration because that is what lit the flame,” Clinton said, speaking as part of a series of interviews with senior centrist political figures about the rise of populists, particularly on the right, in Europe and the Americas.

“I admire the very generous and compassionate approaches that were taken particularly by leaders like Angela Merkel, but I think it is fair to say Europe has done its part, and must send a very clear message – ‘we are not going to be able to continue provide refuge and support’ – because if we don’t deal with the migration issue it will continue to roil the body politic.”

Maybe she thought sherman citizens wouldn't notice.

"Vlad, i can't speak for scotsmanland, but npr is known for well investigated stories and here is what it says...

This is not the fault of immigrants."

Can you point me to some posts where immigrants are being blamed for the skills shortage?

I read the link you put up and I've picked out a couple of bits that to me anyway show why yous have a skills shortage..............

"In a new report, the Washington State Auditor found that good jobs in the skilled trades are going begging because students are being almost universally steered to bachelor's degrees."

So youngsters are being discouraged from going into skill trades. To me this makes no sense whatsoever..........

"For all the promises to improve vocational education, however, a principal federal source of money for it, called Tech-Prep, hasn't been funded since 2011."

Ah so POLITICIANS have played THEIR part by removing funds that would train youngsters in skill trades. It could be said that those who MIGHT have served an apprenticeship are not important enough to bother about...........

"In a quest for prestige and rankings, and to bolster real-estate values, high schools also like to emphasize the number of their graduates who go on to four-year colleges and universities."

So those responsible for education don't really care about youngsters getting apprenticeships either. Not enough money or prestige in helping youngsters who are not clever enough for uni..............

"But high school graduates have been so effectively encouraged to get a bachelor's that high-paid jobs requiring shorter and less expensive training are going unfilled."

So going to uni where you can have safe spaces and get offended at the drop of a hat is drummed into bairns.
Not for them a building site where swear words and geezers having a laugh and a drink on a friday might 'offend' them..........

Seems to me that your various governments and your education system rather than immigrants are to blame.

"My hole point Vlad, skilled tradesmen are in short supply. That is why you would take him and why he could get a job anywhere...but he spends his time bit chin about immigration and accusing those he does not agree with of being what he and hopeless are....racists."

That's not the impression i get from John's posts. Maybe it's because i see his point from a building trade way. If you have a saturated market of workers then wages will go down. Firms can then bid at a lower estimate because they do not have to pay a decent wage.

Minimum wage has been a disaster in the building trade. It meant large building firms only had to adhere to paying the minimum wage.

As for migrants. If unscrupulous firms exploit migrant tradesmen they pay minimum wage. Now the minimum wage hourly rate may be 2/3 times the hourly rate back in their nations. Get a squad of workers together and divvy up the rent where they are staying.

They are still making good wages compared to back home.

But if OUR wages go down paying bills becomes a problem. Then over here anyway the state has to make your wages up with benefits. And that is just to have a roof over your head and pay bills.

I don't blame the workers for coming over. If i could earn 2/3 times abroad than i could earn here then i would do the same.

A lot is made of the hours migrant workers put in. Maybe 7 days a week doing 10 or 12 hour shifts.

But they are exploited. The firm and the customer do well but they don't. So level the playing field. Pay skilled migrants the going rate.

We were told to expect 300,000 workers from eastern europe. We got 3,000,000 in the space of a few years.

No one should have to work 10 or 12 hour shifts 7 days a week. Unions fought for 40 hour weeks, holiday pay, sickness pay etc.

I've worked with some great polish lads. Good tradesmen. But THEY complained when bulgarians and romanians came over. Because they then undercut the polish geezers.

Surely if you graft you deserve a decent wage. But because of brexit loads of east europeans have went home.

Guess what? Wages have went up. The days of cheap exploited labour are ending.

"no snowflakes? packing my bags tonight. I had assumed I was on the list to export anyways. by the way, took the quiz on your link and was just above dead center. not sure what that equates to in our left versus right but at the very least, I am not the far right a select few ASSUME."

Pack your bags now make and head to Edinburgh.

Someone who 'works on the tool's is always welcome.

We have a skills shortage over here. Why?

Because apprenticeships were kicked into touch. Why?

Because it was far easier to exploit east European tradesmen at minimum wage on short term contracts than train youngsters for 4 years.

We are now reaping what was sown as we have no youngsters coming through.....

Just out of interest who would you say was responsible for the lack of apprentices?

The construction firms who had to pay to send youngsters to college for one week every month or the government who allowed skilled migrants to come here and be exploited with minimum wage?

I'm genuinely interested. And sorry for kicking off last night sometimes I don't think before I post.

As for the populism test in the grauniad (and the grauniad is using the definition of populism as held by sherman political scientist Cas Mudde) apart from Evo Morales barnet (that's hair to yous folk over the pond. Barnet Fair = hair in rhyming slang) here is a quote from said geezer..........

"The worst enemy of humanity is capitalism. That is what provokes uprisings like our own, a rebellion against a system, against a neo-liberal model, which is the representation of a savage capitalism.

If the entire world doesn't acknowledge this reality, that the national states are not providing even minimally for health, education and nourishment, then each day the most fundamental human rights are being violated.

" I take it you disagree...that many who complain about their lot in life are more responsible for it than they would like others to believe and choose to want someone else to "fix it" for them (the very government(s) they complain about)?"

Have you heard of the welfare state that was set up in the uk after ww2?...............

"William Beveridge, later to emerge as the midwife of the post-1945 welfare settlement, was also very active in the eugenics movement at this time. Today, Beveridge is generally portrayed as a kindly, avuncular figure, one almost dripping with compassion and benevolence.

But his roots were in a particularly hardline strand of eugenics. He argued in 1909 that ‘those men who through general defects are unable to fill such a whole place in industry, are to be recognised as “unemployable”.

They must become the acknowledged dependents of the State… but with complete and permanent loss of all citizen rights — including not only the franchise but civil freedom and fatherhood.’ And that, except for the loss of fatherhood, has effectively been his legacy."

Yes citizens have to help themselves. But citizens who through no fault of their own becomes dependent on state wefare pay a price. They become docile and 'manageable'. Not everyone can break free from state shackles when the only work available pays less than state benefit.

And THAT situation is down to politicians.................

"I should have known that would be your response given your past wailing, even though there is much I can agree with you about in other instances."

I am as guilty of wailing as everyone else i admit to that and take my slap on the wrist...............

"There's nothing elitist about believing people should be more responsible for their own fate - it's being a realist, not an elitist."

Again i somewhat agree. But i refer back to the creation of the wefare state where government policy was about subsistence state money and in return you basically became a ward of state...................

"Don't choke on your free booze that helps fill your poor working white belly in that "food on the table" sorta way while you get your knickers in a twist."

I've never claimed to be 'poor'. Yep I've toiled for cash before but summit always shows up. Last night i had a lovely kofte kebab delivered from the supperbowl chippy in gilmerton. After it was guzzled i had a few Glayva's.

So food on the table AND free Glayva. AND the delivery driver got a nice wee tip.

I do not toil. But others do. And as economics are guided by politicians then politicians need to accept THEIR part in the misery THEY cause.

Toodle pip from a very cold Edinburgh

"The identity politics has more to do with tapping into those who identify strongly with chants (lock her up), fear ("invasions" of drugs, rapists, murderers), xenophobia of many forms, and divisiveness, rather than actual workable policies for all, not just poor "white" folk. The leader of the chants, xenophobia and divisiveness is white, not poor, but knew how to tap into those who are susceptible. One doesn't have to be poor or white to be susceptible to the repetitive brainwashing. All it takes is for individuals to not have a capability or willingness to understand the cause/effect of national, international and personal economics to fall into said susceptibility of brainwashing while looking to blame someone else for their lot in life - the majority of the bellyaching has to do with money than anything else. Don't get me wrong - are there those who can't fight their way out of their situations (or were born into their situations) on their own through no fault of there own? Certainly, but not in the numbers being suggested as being simply "poor WHITE folk"."

What an arrogant elitist twat.

Away you and run up my ribs ya fvckin snowflake bam lol

"Probably the worst contributing factor for the state of affairs of those who are most susceptible is an antiquated educational system that doesn't teach according to abilities, doesn't teach about personal financial basics, doesn't promote healthy lifestyles, and doesn't promote basic morality."

Maybe they should listen to smug arseholes like you then? Naaaa why would anyone want to be a drippy daftie?.............

"Me...I just want to live in peace....war free with good food and clean air. We still have some of that over here...... let Europe worry about Europe and let the US worry about the US......If we could send you our human rejects....the hopelesses of the world.... we would be most grateful...then we would really have a great country...until the end."

Don't we all want to live in peace?

Can we send yous our 23,000 potential jihadis (according to our security services) then and our poor huddled masses of criminal foreigners?

If so it's a deal. Oh and our snowflakes. They are a red line.

Listen son. Well done for replying without TDS. You don't need TDS.

"Vlad, i read your articles, and thank you for sharing. I believe the spiked article mentioned Trump caters heavily to identity politics."

What identity politics? Poor white folk? That leaves the question as to why poor white folk never came on the democrats radar?.....................

"Of course, he's throwing raw meat out to a small crowd, and the Dems are trying for everyone else."

Apart from the trump folk you mean? The voters the democrats did not bother about.............

"someone else posted a list of the economic policies the Dems are selling, and i've already included Obama saving our huge automobile industry, keeping jobs in trump land, and of course, the dems probably wouldn't have handed out a huge tax cut to those global elitist rich."

How does that equate with clinton sucking up to wall street? She has made much money from them has she not?.............

"i guess i should also point out, the GOP tends to deregulate financial institutions, and the result is two massive recessions under both republican bush presidencies. The Frank-Dodd (both dems) bill was supposed to curb that excess, and it was quickly thrown out, along with other restrictions on Wall Street."

But wall street backs the democrats. It is written everywhere about clinton and wall street. So wh a t is the difference?.............

"as for how workers do when they lose their incomes, i did mention they get cheaper goods. not a wonderful ego-boosting thing, esp. when too much spending in america isn't in cash (due to wages not rising high enough) but in credit."

Wow. Cheaper chinese goods. Cannae wait................

"Unfortunately, yesterday our stock market ruled on the view of the global economy in the near future--oil stocks and tech went down. of course, every time there's a trade treaty, there's new business, and new jobs. Farmers in our midwest are hurting since they can't sell their soybeans to china, due to tariff wars."

Sooooo wall street dictates. Not trump. Not clinton. Not the russians. But wall street...............

"I also liked the guardian article--nationalism went from 7% support to 25%."

We have winner takes all in uk politics as well. Hence theresa may.............

"In our winner-takes-all-politics, only a quarter falls far short of a majority, and suggests more people are against than for. also, the article made numerous suggestions of how the nationalist parties have fascist roots, and some are authortarian--read, dictator. that seems to be what they have in common."

Lol and remember it is the GRAUNIAD. THEE liberal media outlet. Yet the grauniad does not mention the eastern european nations who were under the soviet heel. And are now under the brussels gulag heel. Maybe citizens are a bit pissed off being under totalitarian heels? Aye?...............

"if so, then the answer to the question, "why are they popular to a quarter of the population?" seems to be, "they offer racism in some form"."

Yawn. Its the ONLY explanation eh? Can't be that maybe, just maybe, citizens are fed up of centralised gulags telling them what to do?

Of course 'racism' is the intolerant illiberal liberal go to comfort blanket when they have no idea as to WHY folk head to populist parties.................

"admittedly, america loves wars b/c we used to put people to work building the tools of war. in peacetime, we sell them (side note, its ironic we fear the Saudis buying weaponry from China and Russia that won't interface with our equipment, and we fear they'll mess with oil prices when we could simply stop embargoing Iran's oil, and keep producing our own shale oil, and tell the Saudis to sod off)."

So no matter which arsehole sits in the oval office the saudis win anyway? So why the wailing about trump and the saudis?.................

"But then, the rest of the world isn't standing in the way of our playing global cop someplace else. I don't think Europe really rushed into Yugoslavia until we led the way, and how about some of those Africa local bush wars?"

Yugoslavia was nothing to do with us. It was old hatreds from centuries ago. We (our nations) bombed the serbs on easter sunday. And as they pointed out we would never have bombed an islamic nation on THEIR holy day.

As for africa. The dark continent should be left to die out. In short personally i couldnt give a fvxk.

Ps did you take the populist test?

"All you really need to do is look up reliable articles..from say Forbes, and you will see the Democratic party, when in charge, tends to have better economic results. But that is irrelevant at this point...both parties have driven the US to the point where economic ruin in the future is almost a given."

At last. We agree. So republican is no better than democrat. They BOTH have destroyed your nation. Are we agreed on that point?.............

"The Republican Party of Fiscal Rectitude of old is gone and replaced wtih what is now a completely berserk party and has contributed mightily to that coming ruin. This latest tax cut it passed is not coming close to paying for itself as the Republicans lied that it would....instead it has blown a whole in the US the tune of 1.2 trillion per year."

That i do not know. I knew not of the republican party of old..............

"As the government borrows ever more money to pay for that deficit...interest rates go up. As interest rates go up...debt laden economies all over the world are going to suffer. How is that going to help you over there in Scotsman land again?"

It's not. The old system has to be collapsed. Citizens are going to have to stop relying on the state. A mass execution of our nations political classes would be a start. Go back and start again. Get folk who WORK for a living to make policies..............

"So plenty of blame to go around...but as the economic reckoning comes over the world for all of the irresponsible spending....the US is going to go down...but Europe will go down even harder, and last I heard, Scotsman land is part of Europe."

To be fair i have always wanted the total collapse of the west. Then we can get rid of the arseholes and let decent working folk get in charge again. Eh we will ALWAYS be part of europe Platy. Its geographical like............

"What might help the US....withdraw from Nato...pull all of our troops all over the world home, and reduce our out of control military budget by 500 billion per year...use that money to pay down debt, build up infrastructure etc. 200 Billion is plenty to keep our nuclear submarines in the oceans, our bomber fleets and ICBM in good shape. We don't need a huge army or air force...nobody can touch us. Leave Europe to its own and save ourselves. We are tired of being your caretakers...time to stand on your own two feet."

Agree 100%. I would do away with nato, the un, the eu. The whole lot. And most of the world would be glad if your military DID stay in shermanland.

Because democrat OR republican yous do like a war (cue gto talking about suez that happened before i was born. If it comes to wars yous shermans love them).

Lol TDS time folks.

Pps ^^^^ the saudis murdered folk for years and your presidents have said nothing. They still traded with the sauds. Whats the difference now?

Oooops TDS

Thank you. An answer that does not include TDS.

Now if i may take a few of those points?...........

Since you asked, the following is a list just on economic policies.

Jobs & Economy

"Work to close the pay gap"

Pay gap between whom?............

"Raise the minimum wage and strengthen overtime rules"

Do you not think the minimum wage is a bad thing? It gave bosses a chance to drop wages to the minimum wage.............

"Reform the tax code so the wealthiest pay their fair share"

Cannae argue with that.............

"Impose accountability on Wall Street"

But clinton and the democrats embraced wall street. I think that was fake policy to be honest............

"Fix and expand our roads and bridges, reducing congestion and cutting the "pothole tax"
Expand public transit options to lower transportation costs and unlock economic opportunity"

Well no one should oppose that. We all shite in the same toilet.............

"Accelerate aviation technology and invest in American airports
Build a faster, safer, and higher-capacity passenger rail system
Modernize dams, levees, and wastewater systems"

What about the environment then? More traffic more pollution..............

"Restore union collective bargaining rights
Protect workers from exploitation"

Agree on that.................

"Create a national infrastructure bank to improve rural transportation, water, and broadband infrastructure"

Agree. Very much needed apparently................

"Increase funding to support the next generation of farmers and ranchers
Invest in expanding local food markets and regional food systems"

Local jobs for local workers? As long as a decent wage gets paid.........

"Launch a nationwide effort to cut red tape for small businesses at every level of government"

Do not believe that for a minute. Statists love red tape.............

"Simplify tax filing and provide targeted tax relief for small businesses"

Reply as above.............

"Give small-business owners access to financing to build, grow, and hire"

Reply as above............

"Expand Social Security for those who need it most and who are treated unfairly today"

Yep agree with that.............

"Impose a risk fee on the largest financial institutions"

I would say an out and out lie...........

"Discourage excessive risk-taking by making senior bankers accountable
Make sure no firm is ever too big and too risky to be managed effectively
Tackle financial dangers of the “shadow banking” system
Impose a tax on high-frequency trading
Prosecute individuals when they break the law
Hold executives accountable when they are responsible for their subordinates’ misconduct
Hold corporations accountable when they break the law"

Ha ha ha . Fvck off. Absolutely NO CHANCE..............

"Strengthen American manufacturing through a $10 billion investment
Prevent countries like China from abusing global trade rules and reject trade agreements that don’t meet high standards
Revitalize the hardest-hit manufacturing communities"

So nafta and ttip are no more? Yet it was obamas flagship policy..............

"Crack down on companies that ship jobs and earnings overseas
Invest in America’s manufacturing workforce to ensure that it will always be the best in the world
Unlock access to capital"

Errr nafta and ttip anyone?.............

"Cut red tape to streamline the process of starting a small business
Provide tax relief and simplification for small businesses
Incentivize health care benefits for small businesses and their employees
Open new markets
Make sure small businesses get paid—not stiffed
Support small-business owners and entrepreneurs
Make the federal government more responsive to small business"

Do not believe that would happen.

Sooooo why did the democrats not clean up then? Why did voters not believe them? Have they lied before?

And did wall street say those policies were ok to spout? Of course SAYING and DOING are two different things eh?

" really have zero idea what is going on over read right wing, fake news propaganda and buy into it."

I read lots of things. I've just found the app for The Atlantic. And the grauniad? Both intolerant illiberal liberal media outlets.

Spiked online. Right wing? Well it is run by the folk who used to publish Living Marxism monthly magazine. But if that's 'right wing' then someone should tell them.............

"Our economy almost always does better under democrats...look it up...and right now our Republican right has done its best to destroy our economy."

Can you tell me some of the economic policies the democrats put forward in the last election then? Policies that would mean work and wages for citizens. And i don't mean the handful of 'socialist' folk who won locally on radical policies. I mean the general nation wide policies the democrats offered.

"When our economy is doing well and the tide is rising, it raises all boats. When not, the working man is hurt worst."

Err then why do the democrats have an obsession with 'identity' and not economics? Why not set their stall out of radical policies rather than just mentioning trump constantly? And how does shermanlands economy do well when work is moved abroad?

Because president the donald is playing yous like a fiddle. He makes a comment. The TDS kicks in and folk become unhinged.

Meanwhile the world watches as the TDS afflicted offer nothing to counter him but abuse. Apart from universal healthcare (psssst which we have over here) what other policies do democrats at a national level offer?

The right for bruce jenner to say he is a woman!!!!!!!!!! Are they unaware that the vast majority i would think just do not care what he calls himself. Food on the table is far more important than some weirdo who admitted to wearing his daughters clothes saying he is a woman.

Which of course he is not. He is a man dressed in womans clothes. Go democrats.

Ps. Brexit. Wages are rising. I've just made £100 for four and a half hours work.

And the geezer also gave me a bottle and three quarters of Glayva whisky liquer. A bottle and a half of the famous grouse whisky. A bottle of red wine. A minature of grouse whisky and a minature of absinthe.

Well done popular uprisings against globalism

Deary me son. Trump, trump trump. Yous have it bad eh? You know the wee online magazine i read called spike online? One of the geezers wrote a good article about TDS.

"Behind its apparent recovery in the Midterms, the old Democratic Party machine also looks increasingly moribund. Some of the Democrats’ successes in the suburbs were won by local groups of middle-class women organising themselves independently, Tea Party-style, via the internet.

More importantly Democrat campaigns were bank-rolled by a handful of billionaire ‘super-donors’ such as Tom Steyer, who hand-picked their chosen candidates.

Media darling Beto O’Rourke, who quite narrowly failed to win a senate seat in Red Texas, raised over $70million – far more than Republican winner Ted Cruz – with half of it coming from ‘large individual donations’. Far from a progressive people’s party, it looks as if the Democrats are in danger of becoming a rich man’s plaything, the party of America’s new metro elites."

The article also asks the question, apart from healthcare for all what OTHER policies do the democrats have? Apart from mentioning trump constantly.

What economic policies do they have? How are they going to put wages into american workers pockets?

And as for over here?...................

"How populism emerged as an electoral force in Europe

Populism is spreading across the continent but has different characteristics by region

• Revealed: one in four Europeans votes populist"

"The only one who loves trade deals is Trump and his sheep supporters who don't understand that Global trade was fine tuned and working just fine until Trump stuck his greedy, fat, short fingers into the system."

If it was working just fine why are citizens rejecting neo liberalism all over western nations?...............

"I'm pretty sure most Americans are not concerned about worker's wages in other countries nearly as much as what they pay at the retail store for the product."

Yet many intolerant illiberal liberals wail about child exploitation. But only when it is someone whom THEY dislike who is doing the exploiting.........

"We like to think humanity is being treated justy by its governments throughout the world, but we are hopefully now willing to go to war over the issue ever again..."

Lol aye right. So yous do................

"Modern day Slaveowners? What the fuk are you talking about? We are not responsible for slave wages in Europe and we are concerned about our own people's wages."

If you are so concerned for american workers wages why embrace globalism?...............

"exploited labor? Well I know some lawyers working ungodly hours but making 220K US per year two years out of law school. Clearly they are being exploited. Do they count?"

Being a lawyer is not work as far as I'm concerned................

"Trump is an idiot and is messing things up with the environment and the economy. The more they get messed up, the more you in Europe are going to that good?"

How are we going to suffer more? You mean globalism is a good thing?................

"Why was clinton odious? You lost me...unless you just buy into Trumpism."

Clinton backed ttip. Then rejected it when she thought it would get her votes. Then started thinking it may be a good thing again. Why would i 'buy into trumpism'?

I wanted trump to win because he was the only politician who never threatened us over voting brexit. The odious clinton did threaten us.

And the other odious bint merkel is now getting her just deserts. Globalism and neo liberalism has had its day. It is being kicked into touch all over europe.

The chaos populist/nationalist and socialist political parties are causing is fantastic. Bankers and their money grabbing cohorts wailing because they are being fvcked off everywhere.

Tis a joy to behold.

So all yous entitled intolerant illiberal liberal types who post on here. Those who just luuuv trade deals that take your fellow country men and womens jobs away.

Your love of globalism would mean yous don't bother about slave labour in nations who take american workers jobs away. Do yous?

Or how do you airbrush slave labour out of your globalist lives? Do yous pretend it doesn't happen and yous buy 'ethically'. Lol yous are having a giraffe.

Yous modern day slave 'owners'. Because that is what yous are. You don't give a toss if some bairn gets worked to death in some shitehole nation as long as you can get a bit TDS.

Because c'mon. Be honest. Yous care fvck all about exploited labour do yous?

But yous care about those who voted trump.

THAT drives yous garrity. Fvck some bairn working 16 hours a day for £3. Your hatred is for someone who could be a neighbour who voted against the odious clinton.

"so, how's Brexit coming along? sounds over here like its hit a speed bump. Theresa May may have been laughed at like chump was at the UN."

Deary me son. You really are clueless about anything outside of shermanland eh? If that was aimed at the italian geezer who lives in australia then why would he care?

His homeland is doing its bit about bringing down the eu gulag. Between 5 star and the League they have set a budget that suits italian citizens and not your lot the globalists.

Of course your lot are most unhappy that an elected italian government are doing something for italian citizens. Your lot want UNELECTED faceless globalists to set the budget.

As for theresa may. She is laughed at on these islands. If you read a bit more you would know that theresa the appeaser never wanted to leave the eu.

But citizens did. 17.4 million of them. The biggest vote EVER in the uk.

But your lot don't want that. They want neo liberalism to continue where money is god. Just like you favour trade deals that throw sherman workers on the scrap heap so you can get goods on the cheap.

I love the way yous globalist neo liberal intolerant illiberal liberals love anything that slaps down your fellow countrymen and women.

You geezer have many many times wrote in favour of trade deals that take jobs from american workers. For reasons only you know you despise your fellow citizens trying to earn a living. You embrace globalism and 'free' trade deals that are detrimental to american workers.

And then you cry like a big jessie when the workers you despise do not vote the way you and your type wanted them to. The smug and entitled are being smashed everywhere in the west just now.

Bring it on.

"Interestingly, I found a lengthy academic treatise from Northwestern University (2003) that claims Gore would have beat Bush if Florida felons had been allowed to vote at the time. This conclusion flies in the face of those offered by the Guardian and, which hypothesize there could be a Republican advantage to granting Florida felons voting rights (which I think is pure B.S. - else why would Scott have reversed Crist's Clemency Program?). See page 792:

"Democratic Contraction? Political Consequences of Felon Disenfranchisement in the United States"

Well it seems both studies COULD be right or COULD be wrong because it is just theory. No one will know until the next election.

And both studies are assuming that those million odd felons will use their vote. Millions of voters are already disconnected from the process because they see no point voting as nothing much will change in their lives.

"I don't see the exact numbers in the article in Vox, but looking at the bar graphs, Blacks represent about 55k and "Not Black" (this apparently includes Asian, Native American, etc., and other "Not Blacks" since they state "We defined nonblack as white, Hispanic, Asian, and other due to data limitations.") would be the remainder, or 150,000 - 55k =95k. so, Blacks are about 37% of this population and Not Blacks are the remainder, or 63%"

Well i am using the figures supplied by the Sentencing Project. According to THEM three quarters of convicted felons. (You are correct about where i claimed white. I was wrong) are not black.

But i would think a good few of the three quarters who are not black would be classed as white do you not think?

"According to the Sentencing Project, there were 1,487,847 ex-felons in Florida who were unable to vote during the 2016 election, of which about a quarter, or 418,224, were black."

"However, the flaw in the Vox study is only looking at results of the Voters who participated. 2016 was an extremely apathetic year. Notice the bar charts that show large numbers of pardoned Felons that did not even register to Vote. There is NO WAY to know how they might have voted. 2016 was one of the most unpredictable elections I have ever witnessed.
Anyway, we shall see what happens."

But the claim that if felons had been allowed to vote the democrats would have won florida do not have any validity.

That claim is assuming black, white, asian, hispanic, indian felons are going to vote. They may NEXT time yous have a vote. But as you say we will see what happens.............

"think you confused "Not Black" with White. Common mistake, I suppose. AND, while I bet that misconception could have been leveraged to sway the vote for Amendment 4, I doubt the Republicans would make that mistake. is liberal leaning and that article was likely designed to mitigate the fear of Black voter numbers increasing, in showing that they were outnumbered by other races."

But i remember the martin zimmerman killing in florida. Zimmerman was called 'white' hispanic. So the three quarters non black felons may contain many hundreds of thousands of 'white' hispanics.

Or can hispanics play the race card by claiming not to be white although the sherman lying press use the 'white' hispanic term quite a lot?

"You live in a safe little world Vlad where America has been protecting you since World War 2...give me a break....Trump is almost right...maybe you all should pay your fair share."

A 'safe' little world? How do you reach that conclusion then?

After ww2 yep yous shermans did your bit. But since the berlin wall came down exactly WHO are yous protecting us from?

Because it seems that OUR domestic terror agencies are stopping terror plots..............

Authorities have thwarted 12 Islamist terror plots in the United Kingdom since the Westminster attack in March 2017, bringing the total number of foiled attacks in the country since 2013 to 25, the head of the U.K.’s domestic intelligence agency said on Monday."

Maybe if YOUR nation stopped seeking conflict and destabalising nations for no apparent reason , which in turn usually drags our military in to said conflict we would not have this below..............

"UK home to up to 25,000 Islamist extremists who could pose threat, EU official warns
Number is the highest known figure in Europe, amid concern over 'known' extremists launching recent attacks"

And i don't know where you are getting your numbers for contributions to nato but WE pay what we were asked to pay..............

In 2014, NATO members agreed to target spending 2 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) on defense, although the contributions remain voluntary. In 2017, only the U.S., U.K., Greece, Poland and Estonia reached the 2 percent target.

Now there is no point getting your knickers in a twist. Personally i get on just fine with sherman citizens. They could not have been more friendly the twice I've been there.

But i do not have to agree with american foreign policy which has unleashed a horror upon folks in the middle east and north africa. Caused untold misery on citizens in those nations.

And for what? What has america benefited from the iraq war, from the regime change in libya, from supporting syrian 'freedom fighters' who then went and joined daesh and much much more?

Can you give me a wee clue?

"that is who you are going to use as some sort of authority Vlad...really?"

I'm no using anyone as an 'authority'. It was an article i read in the intolerant illiberal liberal democrat supporting lying press.

As for daesh (islamic state) it is not the SO CALLED islamic state. IT IS called islamic state.

And as for syria the only nation outside of assads army which is LEGALLY entitled to be there is russia. They were invited by the legitimate government of syria.

">>>interestingly enough, Trump has us at war in Afganistan, Iraq, and i believe this morning we stopped refueling Saudi bombers in their war in Yemen. so technically, Trump has us in war, too. i think the claim is, HRC would have begun a new war, likely syria. if so, then it puts her in league with Republicans like Bush JR who got us into Iraq, Bush Senior who also got us in Iraq and in somalia, Reagan who got us into Grenada etc. They all waved the flag of patriotism. I don't know what tony Blair did to get England into Iraq, or what Iron Lady thatcher did to get England into war over the Falkland Islands. Probably much of the same."

Oh dear. TDS again eh? I seem to remember bill clinton bombing the shite out of various nations over the years. But hey it's good to see the memory hole is working well.

Now son. I know most shermans are clueless about anywhere else in the world. But can i just say regarding the iraq war. It was the united kingdom who took part. Not englandshire.

As for blair? I would put him on trial for war crimes against not just OUR service men and women but also for the hell that has been created for civilians in iraq.

The hated thatcher. She was not prime minister of englandshire. She was prime minister of the uk. The falkland islands are a uk protectorate.

The military junta in argentina invaded this uk protectorate. Our military were dispatched to remove foreign troops from islands who were under our protection.

Memory hole time again mate. The saintly obama...............

"For a reluctant warrior, Obama also has smashed records for selling weaponry and arms to our Middle East “allies”, many of whom continue to wage their own wars of destruction.

Barack Obama has now been at war longer than any president in United States history, as the New York Times pointed out on Sunday. Barring some sort of peace miracle in the next six months, he will be the only president who ever served two full terms in office while constantly being at war.

One of those wars, Saudi Arabia’s, has thrown Yemen into chaos and strengthened al-Qaida, which has, in turn, led to Obama sending US troops back into the country. The timetable on that fight? “Short term”, a Pentagon spokesman said last week.

This is not to say Obama’s wars are completely comparable to his predecessors’, including those of George W Bush – his Iraq war remains the most calamitous foreign policy mistake of our generation. And with each passing year, despite the fact that no one wants to admit it, the Afghanistan war inches closer to the same.

But at least Bush fought his wars with authorization from Congress, something that Obama has refused to do with his war on Isis, despite the constitution requiring it.

Maybe this isn’t solely the Obama administration’s fault. Congress has shown itself to be cowardly in upholding its constitutional responsibility, content with the president taking all the blame when things go wrong.

But the Obama administration has continually refused put forth its own plan for an Isis war authorization beyond a couple of soundbites saying it’d be nice if Congress passed one (while also it won’t make a difference either way).

"Interesting argument about felons but I don't believe it. The Republicans party is the party of repression and lock him up mentality. Felons are not going to reward the system that took their freedom and civil rights imho."

Well its no my argument to be fair. But i read the report mention on the vox link................

"According to the Sentencing Project, there were 1,487,847 ex-felons in Florida who were unable to vote during the 2016 election, of which about a quarter, or 418,224, were black."

Now you could give all 1,487,874 felons the vote but how many of them would actually use their vote? Poor blacks, poor hispanics, poor whites in fact poor folk in general feel disenfranchised.

The party of repression and lock him up? Yet i read this about the democrats under bill clinton. And would i be wrong in saying that no government since has repealed clintons policies?...............

"Despite claims that radical changes in crime and welfare policy were driven by a desire to end big government and save taxpayer dollars.

Billions of dollars were slashed from public-housing and child-welfare budgets and transferred to the mass-incarceration machine.

By 1996, the penal budget was twice the amount that had been allocated to food stamps. During Clinton’s tenure, funding for public housing was slashed by $17 billion (a reduction of 61 percent), while funding for corrections was boosted by $19 billion (an increase of 171 percent), according to sociologist Loïc Wacquant “effectively making the construction of prisons the nation’s main housing program for the urban poor.”

Bill Clinton championed discriminatory laws against formerly incarcerated people that have kept millions of Americans locked in a cycle of poverty and desperation.

The Clinton administration eliminated Pell grants for prisoners seeking higher education to prepare for their release, supported laws denying federal financial aid to students with drug convictions, and signed legislation imposing a lifetime ban on welfare and food stamps for anyone convicted of a felony drug offense—an exceptionally harsh provision given the racially biased drug war that was raging in inner cities.

By the end of Clinton’s presidency, more than half of working-age African-American men in many large urban areas were saddled with criminal records and subject to legalized discrimination in employment, housing, access to education, and basic public benefits—relegated to a permanent second-class status eerily reminiscent of Jim Crow.

It is difficult to overstate the damage that’s been done. Generations have been lost to the prison system; countless families have been torn apart or rendered homeless; and a school-to-prison pipeline has been born that shuttles young people from their decrepit, underfunded schools to brand-new high-tech prisons.

Rather than spending billions of dollars constructing a vast new penal system, those billions could have been spent putting young people to work in inner-city communities and investing in their schools so they might have some hope of making the transition from an industrial to a service-based economy."

Funny how the past gets forgotten due to TDS eh?
