Tell us about ONE fallen American service man, tell us all his/her story.

Not enough bandwith???

I cannot ever believe one is more important...........

maybe none were important?

OR really mattered?

All my high school class mates had the demands of a military background ........

Love it or leave it attitude, many were Canadian. RMCP or Military that was their future in my yearbook.......

Several joined the US military and were KIA in Viet Nam...

High school is not the time to lower a classmate into the ground.........

I remember the KIA and MIA telegrams I read for Lemoore NAS. The families suffering.....Young wives.......

Was there one......I don't want to remember .

I do wonder if I received McCains MIA notice.

The one that tugs at my heart.......

Melvin ........a Sea Bee ....... drove a caterpillar..

He heard the screams of men he crushed in caves until he shot himself in the 90's ...

That's not what I'm saying.

The real battle is the one in November.

loss of focus.

It's time to bring together this house that's been divided for far too long

Obama supporters are as bad as Kenny Starr..........

You might say that accusing Hillary of wanting to kill Obama is divisive?
She is running only because someone might kill Obama??

Right now.......McCain is a non issue...... That should be an asset......... Voter registration and turnout should be important...

Hillary should have QUIT... she lost in Feb........ DO THE MATH.......

I have done the math of increased voter numbers.......

Anyone that is voting for Clinton is ignorant a racist .......or??

Where is this dynamic leadership... where is the Change?

Not being an expert myself I cannot even imagine how large a compressed air tank would need to be in order to even power a two seater with appropriate safety requirements a couple of miles.

This is a post of an operational AIR CAR...... It has proven safety over the Rig shaw..

Not the same as Anti matter........ much the same as my X

The $12,700 CityCAT, one of a handful of planned Air Car models, can hit 68 mph and has a range of 125 miles. It will take only a few minutes for the CityCAT to refuel at gas stations equipped with custom air compressor units; MDI says it should cost around $2 to fill the car’s carbon-fiber tanks with 340 liters of air at 4350 psi.

How is Obama going to win without the Clinton support?

Crap like yesterday will DRIVE her support away from the general, in '08.....

See it as you want .......It is B/S
There are 17+ million Clinton supporters and many of them did not hear it that way.......
Hillary is the most open running .......she is speaking 200 thousand words a day???

That does not work....... McCain is a non-issue.

The primary has been treated like a Hockey game .....

and the forward has spiked the puck in front of the goalie......They do that don't they??

Huffington and Raw should have left this alone......... THEY pushed the story.

You have heard the sound bite ....a distortion........ in the head line

Obama has ask them to stop...... The Surrogates are not going to stop.... they are out of control!!!!!!!!!!

There will be a point, no matter what everyone thinks that Clinton will not.....WILL NOT be able to salvage the party.

Blame her if you want for the loss, but the Dem's need every voter to win.

(not 09 that one is my trailer park association. 5 months after that one the leadership will change.... unless the vote count is challenged, I don''t understand the Bi-laws.....)

Everyone seems to assume that after the last few months...... logic will prevail over emotion.......

Many of the Hillary supporters were involved when Adlai E. Stevenson ran.....
They supported and stood by the word "liberal" ....... like James Michener

I am impressed by the behavior of the Obama Surrogates. ...The ones that he cannot control.

The Dem's have become everything that I hated in the RNC. Swift-boaters

If Clinton supporters want to pick up their toys, storm home, and not throw their support onto Obama - so be it.

When McCain wins in November, they will be the ones to will have allowed it to occur. It's their lack of vision that will put the neocons and McCain back into power. They will have cut off their own nose to spite their face.

At the McCain inauguration, we can all raise a glass to their undying support for Hillary, and proudly thank them for it.

Sounds good for the Obama supporters. When McCain wins its Hillary's Fault. Makes sence to me.

I see Today to be a turning point in the Election of '09.

Clinton: RFK shooting reason to stay in race..................

"My Husband Did Not Wrap Up The Nomination" Until June ... "Bobby Kennedy Was Assassinated In June"....................................

These are out of context and were not what was said or implied. The newspaper that interviewed her has even issued a statement.

The aggressive nature of the Obama group is over the top.

This is not a good path and not changing. Obama has no control. He is not showing the leadership needed to manage even his major surrogates.

I hadn't heard that about ED though. But I sure wouldn't be surprised. Nervous Anxiety over several months of a campaign can take it's toll, as we can tell with Simmah's sleepwalking, for instance.

I have been glued to the TV waiting for the ED Commercials...

All those polls do not reflect on the Election. Where is Obama's swing state?
He will not carry it with out the Hispanic, Hillary Women, over 45, Jewish, Ignorate White, vote...

Hillary said she was going to stay in the Race until there is a winner.... A LONG TIME AGO.
You don't respect her for not quiting like GORE and KERRY.... is Obama like them??? I forget you would not vote or respect her anyway.

She's loosing because all that's left for her in the Democratic primaries are the voters George Wallace used to get

Let's just say that Hilliary goes back to the senate

Reid is already covering his butttt...
He made the statement it was no big deal about a Senator running and then returning to the Senate.
I think he will have a battle for Majority leader. Hillary has introduced a bunch of bills this year and submitted ..................... $2.5 Billion in earmarks.
Those are perks for support in a leadership battle, and taking care of business.... Items needed for a long time and NOT done.
Port Security for one....

I guessed there would be a little bit of hostility toward Kennedy for what he has done..... However
This Kennedy health thing really stirs it up.....
Reid is in trouble......

I believe she is postioning herself to set the agenda...
Support Obama?
He loses most of the power pushing him without Kennedy...
I believe Hillary is for getting this country back on track.

The SMART car was so high,

I don't understand that.... The safety ratings are very high... Better than most SUV's

Repair should be low because of design .. go to the site.

They look very strong... the second question buyers ask is Safety...

I would guess its high because there is no history?

I remember hearing last year about a bus on the autobaun tha drove over one...
The bus driver didn't know the Smart Car was stuck to the front bumber for quite a distance....
the guy in the Smart Car was waving out the sunroof for attention.......

I think safety on the air car would be low... like if you got hit by a bus....

As the Democratic nomination contest slouches toward a close, it's time to take stock of what I will not miss.
I will not miss seeing advertisements for T-shirts that bear the slogan "Bros before Hos." The shirts depict Barack Obama (the Bro) and Hillary Clinton (the Ho) and are widely sold on the Internet.
I will not miss walking past airport concessions selling the Hillary Nutcracker, a device in which a pantsuit-clad Clinton doll opens her legs to reveal stainless-steel thighs that, well, bust nuts. I won't miss television and newspaper stories that make light of the novelty item.
I won't miss episodes like the one in which liberal radio personality Randi Rhodes called Clinton a "big [expletive] whore" and said the same about former vice presidential nominee Geraldine Ferraro. Rhodes was appearing at an event sponsored by a San Francisco radio station, before an audience of appreciative Obama supporters -- one of whom had promoted the evening on the presumptive Democratic nominee's official campaign Web site.
I won't miss Citizens United Not Timid (no acronym, please), an anti-Clinton group founded by Republican guru Roger Stone.
Political discourse will at last be free of jokes like this one, told last week by magician Penn Jillette on MSNBC: "Obama did great in February, and that's because that was Black History Month. And now Hillary's doing much better 'cause it's White **** Month, right?" Co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski rebuked Jillette.
I won't miss political commentators (including National Public Radio political editor Ken Rudin and Andrew Sullivan, the columnist and blogger) who compare Clinton to the Glenn Close character in the movie "Fatal Attraction." In the iconic 1987 film, Close played an independent New York woman who has an affair with a married man played by Michael Douglas. When the liaison ends, the jilted woman becomes a deranged, knife-wielding stalker who terrorizes the man's blissful suburban family. Message: Psychopathic home-wrecker, begone.
The airwaves will at last be free of comments that liken Clinton to a "she-devil" (Chris Matthews on MSNBC, who helpfully supplied an on-screen mock-up of Clinton sprouting horns). Or those who offer that she's "looking like everyone's first wife standing outside a probate court" (Mike Barnicle, also on MSNBC).
But perhaps it is not wives who are so very problematic. Maybe it's mothers. Because, after all, Clinton is more like "a scolding mother, talking down to a child" (Jack Cafferty on CNN).
When all other images fail, there is one other I will not miss. That is, the down-to-the-basics, simplest one: "White women are a problem, that's -- you know, we all live with that" (William Kristol of Fox News).
I won't miss reading another treatise by a man or woman, of the left or right, who says that sexism has had not even a teeny-weeny bit of influence on the course of the Democratic campaign. To hint that sexism might possibly have had a minimal role is to play that risible "gender card."
Most of all, I will not miss the silence.
I will not miss the deafening, depressing silence of Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean or other leading Democrats, who to my knowledge (with the exception of Sen. Barbara Mikulski of Maryland) haven't publicly uttered a word of outrage at the unrelenting, sex-based hate that has been hurled at a former first lady and two-term senator from New York. Among those holding their tongues are hundreds of Democrats for whom Clinton has campaigned and raised millions of dollars. Don Imus endured more public ire from the political class when he insulted the Rutgers University women's basketball team.
Would the silence prevail if Obama's likeness were put on a tap-dancing doll that was sold at airports? Would the media figures who dole out precious face time to these politicians be such pals if they'd compared Obama with a character in a blaxploitation film? And how would crude references to Obama's sex organs play?
There are many reasons Clinton is losing the nomination contest, some having to do with her strategic mistakes, others with the groundswell for "change." But for all Clinton's political blemishes, the darker stain that has been exposed is the hatred of women that is accepted as a part of our culture.

Talk about Kooky... You have been calling the race since march....
Why hasn't he won it? Do the math.....

Why don't the Obama Supers come out of the closet....

Why does Obama want Hillary to stay in...

He is going to get waxed in Puerto Rico..
How would it look to Lose a Primary to someone that has withdrawn

Rove is stating the Facts.... Look at the Hillary Voting Blocks....
Obama will not carry the Electoral College with out her Block....
Women, Hispanic, Florida, Jewish Voters... ect.

Obama will lose with out the Clinton supporters... 17 million of them.

Obama supporters have degraded her voters with every cut directed at her.
Randi Rhodes still calls her a fat ass........

True(Louisville was the one I heard about), but the thing about transit is that as people use it, money can come in via the farebox...mass transit/carpooling does work in leveraging pressure against Big Oil, as it goes after demand in a very real way: if everyone that could used transit just one day a week, the weekday consumption of gasoline would drop 20%. Think the oil companies wouldn't take notice of that? Once the use of transit permanently rises in a given area, then the municipalities can look into modes that don't consume refined crude oil: electric and natural gas are two that are used in many cities in the US. Not exclusively, of course; but every vehicle that goes out NOT using an oil-based fuel is one less tankful of economic enslavement by Big Oil.

Sure.... Demand is going to drop.... sure

The only way mass transit works.... with Government aid.

Mass trasit is a Commons issue,

The leadership for 35 years insists on individual responsibility....

'The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.' Ronnie

I think people should haggle. Instead of meekly pumping gas from a machine at a fixed price, walk right into the gas station and make the clerk an offer. Then if everyone does that, the price of gas will have to come down. Offer them 25 cents and see what they come back with.

If the guy sells you gas for $ .25 ..

He is robbing the place and the clerk is tied up in the cooler......
The stations don't make much in the overall price....

You're forgetting another very effective way to control gas prices: use mass transit.

I heard a funny one the other day...
Many cities have spent the annual budget for mass transportation fuel and are cutting back on services...

Speed limit to 55 mph.......

Market forces are starting...
Small car sales way up. Most people don't own the car they drive... Lease or loan.

One fill up on the Big Boat is the lease on a new Focus....

Right-wing governments 'increase suicide rates'

* news service
* Andy Coghlan

Right-wing governments may sap some people's will to live and result in more suicides, conclude studies in Britain and Australia.

The researchers speculate that losers are more likely to kill themselves in the individualistic, "winner-takes-all" societies favoured by right wing governments, because they are left to fend for themselves. Wide disparities in wealth also sharpen any sense of hopelessness, the researchers argue.

"If you fail under that ideology, it would accentuate your feelings of failure," says Mary Shaw, whose team at the University of Bristol analysed suicide trends in England and Wales over the past century.

Left wing governments tend to be more "inclusive" and community based, she says, decreasing the isolation felt by people down on their luck. Shaw's team calculates that over the past century, 35,000 extra suicides occurred when the Tories were in power.

"That's equivalent to one suicide for every day of the 20th Century, or two for every day that the Conservatives ruled," the team write in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.

Britain's Conservative Party declined to comment on the findings.
Double trouble

Shaw and her colleagues found that on average, suicide rates were 17 per cent higher when the Conservatives were in power, compared to the annual average of 103 suicides per million population when opposition parties held office.

Richard Taylor and his team in the School of Public Health at the University of Sydney found similar trends over the past century in New South Wales. When Right-wing governments were in power, men were 17 per cent more likely and women 40 per cent more likely to commit suicide.

They report that rates were highest whenever Right wing governments held power both at federal and state levels.

Both studies reached their conclusions after taking into account other factors that affect suicide rates, such as economic slumps, wartime, and even a surge of suicides among women in the 1960s when sedatives became widely available.
"You've never had it so good"

But the same trend always emerged, even at times of economic boom such as the "you've-never-had-it-so-good" years when Harold MacMillan led the UK's Tory government between 1957 and 1963.

During that time, annual suicides peaked at 137 per million population. Shaw points out that rates were almost as high in the 1930s (135 per million) when Labour's Ramsay McDonald headed a coalition, but she believes the primary reason then was the century's worst economic slump.

The lowest rate was 85 per million, during the Liberal government of David Lloyd George between 1916 and 1920. Now, under Tony Blair, it is back to the non-Conservative average of 103, down from 121 during Margaret Thatcher's first term in the early 1980s.

Shaw admits that attempts to connect the differences to ideologies are pure speculation. "But I'd be very interested to see if suicide rates are higher wherever there's a Right-wing government," she says. "I'd be particularly interested to see if the relationship holds in the US."

A study published in July 2001 found that US Republicans are almost three times more likely to have nightmares than Democrats. But a Republican spokesman told New Scientist at the time: "If we are, it's because we're left cleaning up the mess left by eight years of Bill Clinton. We sleep better now Bush is in the White House."

Seems like a double standard...

Memo To Michelle Obama: Toughen Up Sweetie

The Obamas seem to have forgotten how those in their campaign "attacked" Bill Clinton for statements he has made while campaigning for Hillary. Lord knows I’m not one to defend the Clintons, but fair is fair. Bill was criticized sharply for calling Obama’s lack of experience "a roll of the dice", for calling Obama’s opposition to the war a "fairy tale", and for his comparison of Obama to Jesse Jackson after South Carolina. Retired Gen. McPeak, an Obama co-chair, even compared Bill to Joe McCarthy at one point.

Cindy McCain’s lack of disclosure of her tax returns has been in the news as well. In fact the DNC has promised that it will continue to be an issue during the general election campaign.

When the Obamas complain about what they perceive as unfair tactics it comes across as whining, just as it does when Hillary laments about the alleged media bias against her. Again, if a spouse injects themselves into the campaign process, like it or not, their words and their actions are going to be fodder for the opposition.

My advice to Mrs. Obama is this; you’re in the big leagues now, sweetie (sorry ladies I couldn’t resist the temptation) either get a thicker skin or get off the stage.

Isn't this like putting a target on her???

I find this humorous,

The Obama's used much of what the RNC produced against Hillary over the past almost 20 years in the primary.

Framing her character.... "unable to control her house how could she control the White House".... in Aug by Michelle.

So now Michelle is off limits..........Sure

Obama tells critics to leave his wife alone
Mon May 19, 2008 1:52pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said on Monday that Republican critics should stop picking on his wife Michelle.

"These folks should lay off my wife," Obama said in an interview with ABC's "Good Morning America."

Obama was referring to a four-minute video posted on YouTube by the Tennessee Republican Party last week during a visit by Michelle Obama that portrayed a remark she made in February in an unflattering manner.

Michelle Obama's remark that "for first time in my adult lifetime I'm proud of my country" stirred a controversy at the time. Critics said it sounded unpatriotic and suggested she had not been proud of her country before her husband's candidacy.

In the ABC interview, Obama, an Illinois senator and Democratic front-runner to contest the November election against Republican John McCain, called the video "low class" and said "most of the American people would think that as well."

The Republican video repeatedly showed Michelle Obama making the proud remark interspersed with comments by Tennesseans about their own patriotism.

"Whoever is in charge of the Tennessee GOP needs to think long and hard about the kind of campaign that they want to run," Obama said.

Michelle Obama joined her husband in the ABC interview and said she believed voters were more focused on the issues.

"We are trusting that the American voters are ready to talk about the issues and not talking about things that have nothing to do with making people's lives better," she said.

Obama has not formally won the Democratic presidential nomination, but he leads against New York Sen. Hillary Clinton in the pledged delegates to the August party convention that will pick a candidate to run against McCain, an Arizona senator. The Democratic candidates face off in primaries in Oregon and Kentucky on Tuesday, and three more before the party voting ends on June 3.

How about this link. In fact overcapacity could increase price. Refineries have been improved and are not broken down pieces of crap.

Jay Saunders, who follows oil companies for Deutsche Bank, said that the increase in refining margins would lead to increased capacity. "The industry is definitely going to overbuild," he said, "they have in the past and they will in the future."
Others caution that the industry should be wary of recreating a glut of capacity that would cause profit margins to sink again. "Refining has been a cyclical business for a long time," said Bill Hauschildt, the vice president for global refining with Chevron Texaco. "In the past few years, there's been much more discipline in the market for not overbuilding capacity."

I guess if yall democrats don't like the tread, stay off. I know how the system work, and the democrats are the bigger of the two problems with the price of gas. As Slightly Stoopid pointed out, not building refineries,

Please explain to me how a refinery is going to lower the price of a barrel of OIL???

Why not build 20 million gas stations???..

new refineries are almost impossible to build up to the new Environmental laws that have been passed. It's almost to the point of being not economically feasible to build new refineries. Its like that for a lot of energy companies. The two biggest it hits are oil and nuclear. the second of which is the cleanest and safest fuel using source of energy on the planet. a new plant is estimated to cost around $6 billion dollars, companies would recoup what they put just into building the facility in 13 or 14 years without paying for anything else. Refineries are the same way. Hence oil companies don't build new ones, but continue to use old technology in old refineries to make our gasoline. The problem is that our dependancy on oil has risen while maximum refining output has stayed relatively constant. Old machinery is doing what old machinery does....break. etc etc etc.

Using this logic all we really need to do is build a few million gas stations.... There is no shortage of refinery capacity. We are exporting Diesel.
Refinery does not effect price of a barrel of oil......

The interest rates do.... ....

A 1% interest rate and we will be over $4 a gallon

other environmental regulations increasing the gas prices are the inability of oil companies to drill where there are monsterous reserves off the US coasts, particularly Texas and Florida and Alaska.

How about Jeb Bush preventing drilling off Florida ???

Just think if you had invested in Smart Futures..... A Smart 401.....

secondary market on eBay
Monday, May 19, 2008
Pam Allen - The Business Review

Nationwide, about 30,000 people plunked down $99 refundable deposits for one of the tiny two-seaters, said Ken Kettenbeil, spokesman for smart USA in Detroit.

Since the smart first arrived here in mid-January, 6,100 of them have been placed with owners nationwide.

Orders through the car's manufacturer, Daimler AG's Mercedes Car Group, take between six and nine months to arrive.

"We're pretty much sold out for 2008," Kettenbeil said, pointing to gas prices and the car's "coolness factor" for the heavy demand.

The 8-foot, 6-inch-long vehicles are a hot item on eBay, where they're selling for as much as 35 percent more than the retail price.

The Passion Cabriolet, smart's top-of-the-line version, costs $16,590. In January, a buyer on eBay paid a Los Angeles seller $22,500 for the same model.

Smart's no-frills model costs $11,590; it recently sold on eBay for $16,000.

People also are turning to eBay to transfer their deposits, but smart USA halts those attempts, Kettenbeil said.

As part of their agreement with the dealership, reservation-holders cannot sell their places. If, after a reminder from smart USA, they fail to remove their offer from the site, the car company takes their names off the waiting list.

State convention shows rift between Obama, Clinton supporters
May 17, 2008 - 6:46PM

State Democrats may have coalesced around Senate nominee Mark Udall Saturday, but big rifts remained between Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton supporters.

Clinton national campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe was booed and shouts of "O-ba-ma" overtook his speech to the state Democratic convention at the World Arena. Several Clinton supporters tried to turn the "Yes, we can!" chants during an Obama speech into "Yes, she can!"

Udall, who has not backed either presidential candidate, said he is confident that the party can unify. Both McAuliffe and Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano echoed similar themes in their talks to the convention.
While Clinton backers campaigned to be national-convention delegates outside the arena, Obama supporter Janet Heller of Arapahoe County yelled: "Oh, come on, smell the coffee!"

Former state Rep. Fran Coleman, a Clinton supporter, said afterward that the episode was disappointing and blamed it on the many political newcomers backing Obama.

"They treat it like a sports event," the Denver Democrat said. "There's a real disrespect there."
