Why Can't Airplanes Take-off/Land In Fog.
Posted: 12/21/2006 4:23:46 AM
Computers go wrong, instruments fail the pilots need to check visually during take-off and landing that the information they have is correct.
Flight delays are inconvenient and we all moan about them when it happens to us but think of what would be said if a plane took off from Heathrow today and crashed over west London we would be screaming about the stupidity of the airlines in trying to take-off.
Heathrow is the busiest airport in the world surrounded on all sides by major population centres, the fact that a major plane crash has not happened there is testament to the level of safety and caution that is in place.
I lived a few miles from Heathrow for 6 years,my ex wife still does and my children visit her.
I hope that I never see the headline "Heathrow plane crash" !!!!

should prostitution be a legal business in the uk
Posted: 12/14/2006 2:51:33 AM
weather legalised or de-criminalised at the end of the day its only any good if it protects the victims and by this I mean the girls who are forced to do it by people traffickers, pimps and those forced to work the streets to feed there own and quite often other peoples drug problems!!!legalise it and yes things will improve but there will always be someone who can offer it cheaper, enter the pimps and people traffickers again.
We need to look at our whole attitude to the sex industry in this country to solve the problem long term as its our attitudes that force it underground as much as the law !!!

I have just see that a third body has been found a couple of miles from the other 2,if these and other attacks on sex workers in Norfolk and Suffolk then we could well have another Yorkshire ripper type killer out there.

MARS - Could there be life?
Posted: 12/8/2006 3:20:27 AM
When we look at the diversity of life on earth and some of the extream places in which its found,I dont believe we can rule out the possability of life exhisting on any planet. We know that life can be found at the bottom of our deepest oceans,in caves miles below ground and even in volcanic vents. If life can exhist in extrems of pressure, tempreture and without light then it stands to reason that we will probably fine life in conditions in which no human could exhist on other planets. when we talk about life on other planets we tend to assume that it will be something we can relate to like an animal or person but life can take many forms and some we may not even recognise for what they are.
The fact is one cell or one blade of grass found on any other planet in the solar system will change the way we see our place in the universe for ever!!!

Moonbase
Posted: 12/5/2006 1:47:51 AM
America is now in another space race, this time with China who have made it clear they intend to go to the moon!!!You dont show all your cards to the opposition!! Stelth aircraft were in active service around 10 years or more before they were officialy shown to the public!!!

Its also worth remembering that some people believe the moon landings were a faked PR stunt,if that were true(which I'm not saying it is) Imagine the PR value to each side of proving or disproving it!!!

Diabetes
Posted: 11/28/2006 11:34:39 AM
What trish says is right I am type 2 diabetic and it took 10 years for me to get a positive test despite showing symptoms and having a family history of it.

There is no harm in getting a test every now and then especialy if you have diabetics in your family.

Also look at diabetes uk for info and people worried by stories of loosing certain types of job because of it dont be,driving restrictions ect only apply to insulin control. I hold a valid PCV and private hire licences.

Xmas ...ba humbug....
Posted: 11/26/2006 11:09:20 PM
Well the fat man in the red suit is the result of a 1920s re-branding or st nicholas by a nameless soft drinks company from his tradishinal green and brown into there colours, something they still wheel out today.

Message 11 is correct in what he says but it is also fact that the earliest gospels(included in the bible) were writen at least 60 years after the death of jesus from oral stories handed down. The gnostic gospels,Thomas,Mary,Judas, ect(I think there are about 8 or 10 known) differ from the accepted gospels and NONE make the claim jesus was the son of god and I think are in writen form dating from about 30-50 years after the crusifixion.

EU Blocks Low-Duty Cigs+Alcohol Online.
Posted: 11/23/2006 8:58:06 AM
Its wrong because at the end of the day our taxes are high in part because we pay more to the EU then many larger countries, therefore allowing them to have cheap fags and beer as there taxes are lower.
But at the end of the day if we are all buying cheap fags, booze and other goods from abroard the goverment will have to recoupe that lost revenue from somewhere to balance the books.
So when we moan about this think about petrol £1.50 a Litre, VAT 22.5% and on just about everything and higher income tax.

Remember you and I might be talking about saving a few quid but over the country per year its £ billions in revenue.

Oh screw it, cheap fags for all !!!!!!!!

Just delete it and block or report the sender if its very ofensive.

This sort of thing is not acceptable, this person might just think he is being funny but the fact is it shows no respect for you to say something like that at any time unless you know each other well.

Kids and Dating
Posted: 11/22/2006 4:41:06 AM
Sorry red I didn't explain the point I was trying to make very well, must be suffering from paint fumes lol.

At 40 it is unlikely I will meet anyone who does not have children themselves and is not a single parent. Though alot of men of the same age also have children most don't have them full time, therefore you dont have the commitment full time with both sides of the relationship.

I think that explains it,think I think I need some fresh air lol

Kids and Dating
Posted: 11/22/2006 2:51:33 AM
I'm a single dad and do think that it puts you at a disadvantage where dating is concerned.
one ex girlfriend of mine used the term "in any normal situation the kids would be with their mum" in an argument over the kids coming out with us,that from a single mum who expected me to accept her children!!
I have never lied about my situation on a profile and sometimes wonder if I might get more responses if I did,but what would be the point when my children are the most important thing in my life.

There are some understanding women out there but even so my experiance would surgest that single dads are at a disadvantage to single mums where dating is concerned.

single mothers fathers who work
Posted: 11/19/2006 2:49:17 PM
I spent the best part of 7 years as a working single dad and much of that running my own business. I have never been comfortable with the idea of childminders as children need stability in there lifes,I have been lucky enough to have my mother to look after them while I worked.
Unfortunatly I have had to now give up working as my mums age and health have ment looking after 2 children more or less fulltime has become too much.
I have now decided to use it as an oppotunity to learn new skills so I can eventually work from home...

what defines a paedophile in the eyes of the law??
Posted: 11/19/2006 2:15:00 AM
A senior police officer has said in an interview that he only views someone as a paedophile if they have sex with a prepubescent child and the term"child pornography" should only apply when the subject of the picture is under 13!!!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6162724.stm

So with children reaching puberty as young as 9 or 10 and becoming sexualy acitve at younger ages, do our legal intrepritations need looking at?
I personally believe that the only way is a clear cut legal age,but how do you tell when teenagers can walk into nightclubs and pubs with over 21 age limits with out question?

So does this officer have a point in what he says??

DIY Disater Area Hard Hats required!
Posted: 10/31/2006 11:49:32 PM
My ex would never leave me alone long enough to finish anything,if the work was not proceeding at the pace she wanted she would "help" when I was out! The result was something that looked like it had been done by a nursery school class and me with the hump refusing to touch it again.

My new house looks like the former occupent followed a simmiler lack of basic DIY skill, the bedrooms have been totaly emulsioned, light fittings, plugs, wood work, floor boards and door handles Everything is covered in it!!! What wall paper was there under the emulsion was held on with everything from blutac, drawing pins and nails to what looked like car body filler and superglue!!! The down stairs is slightly better but still suffers with an elerment of emulsion overkill. Why do people paint over plug sockets and light switches?? It never looks good in my opinion as it always flakes off and just looks like they just couldn't be bothered to take care or pride in what they were doing!!

The mayor of london and free speech!!!
Posted: 10/19/2006 4:56:26 AM
Well red Ken has got away with it!!! The mayor of London is entitled to insult and offend you or anyone else because of free speech!!!! That was the ruling of Mr Justice Collins,a high court judge in Kens appeal over suspension from office for likening a Jewish reporter to a Nazi concentration camp guard!!!
Does this mean we can all go around insultig eachother in the name of free speech???

Its not the first time Mr Livingstone has made non diplomatic comments about people,I'm not saying some of these comments were not true or even widely held opinion in some cases but not things that the elected mayor of a major city should be saying publicly in the way they were said!!

In a radio interview last week he was talking about the £250,000 legal bill and how if costs were awarded against him he would be bankrupt something that would have barred him from office! He went on to say that if this was the case there would be an appeal to the public to pay it or to use his words "the workers and peasents will have to put there hands in there pockets to keep me in office" .Is that how he sees his supporters as peasents?

Has Mr Livingstones power gone to his head, does he feel his support is such that he is untouchable??
