Vin - I have an idea. We can move in together and hire a chef. Problem solved. You can pick out the uniform for her.

Multiple divorces .. what do you think?
Posted: 10/2/2006 10:24:15 PM
I think North Americans treat marriage like its some kind of a joke....the Hollywood trickle down affect.

I have never dated a divorcee and have no interest in ever doing so.

I think its interesting in how some cultures and religions (Hindu for example) how a couple meets each other for a few hours prior to agreeing to get married to one another (while their families haggle over how many goats should be given as a wedding gift to the bride's family) and have the lowest divorce rates in the world. Its a very bad thing to get divorced in some cultures. You are looked upon like you've committed a serious crime.

Its just personal preference Jay - nothing more. I get really freaked out by realistic situations - you know - the kind of scenario where its feasible that you could find yourself in....stuff like Wolf Creek and Hostel. The first Blair Witch was up there on my freaky-freaky scale.

Hope you enjoy the flick.

Fitness To the max.
Posted: 10/2/2006 9:44:24 PM
As an accomplished athlete, fitness has been a way of life for me since I was 12. Its not something you do...its what you become. I am a former sponsored professional athlete (bmx freestyle) and also hold a 2nd degree blackbelt. Currently, I run 12 k twice a week (year round and outside) and workout 3x per week. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Profile Definitions
Posted: 9/30/2006 10:52:52 PM
Interesting thread. A lot of gals own some very deceptive mirrors.

I've learned first hand that average really can mean up to 60 or so extra pounds.

I've also learned that a few extra pounds is anything over and above the first 60 extra pounds.

Really - the BBW category is not even needed. No one falls into that one.

How do you deal with Calgary's panhandlers?
Posted: 9/30/2006 10:46:25 PM
What I do when asked is I reach into my pocket ...fiddle around for a sec...then I just pull out my hand giving the middle finger and then show it to them - right in their face. I say "gee this is all I got....will that do?".

Then I laugh and walk away.

Its an employees market right now so employers are not in that position to be pulling that kinda crap. Sounds like bad management.

Finding things to do so you don't stay home
Posted: 9/27/2006 10:34:12 PM
Personally, I have an absolutely hectic schedule. I go to University full time and work as much as possible at my job when I have the time. Outside of that I run and workout and hang out with my friends as best as time permits. Some days I just collapse and am glad to just sit around and stare at the ceiling.

Well your profile says that you are a professional. If you are not a self proclaimed professional then obviously you have a governing body. Your post leads me to believe that she is a professional in the same field as yourself. So file a complaint then with your governing body - kind of a no brainer.

Well lookingonceagain I used to agree with your opinion wholeheartedly....like "keep your damn hands off of my clothes"...or "take a chill pill and gimme a couple minutes to get my shite"...

But....

I got fed up with being mr. polite with a bunch of tards that leave their stuff in the washer and forget about it. No more do I come back again and again to the laundry room to see if those tards have FINALLY got their shite outta the washer. When I see a load is done out it goes and in goes mine.

My suggestions:

1) Quit smoking. My life took on a whole new zest when I was able to finally beat that evil demon.

2) Go back to school. Get into a career that interests you. I went back to school and am so very glad I did. Nothing is worse than working at some mindless job that some monkey could do.

Online job hunting
Posted: 9/15/2006 1:01:34 PM
Well I was just reading an interesting thread by GEM which got me thinking another topic of my own experience. So anyways....

About a year ago when I was on the hunt I sent out my resume and cover letter to somewhere between 50-60 employment postings off of job websites and got only one call for an interview. I only applied for local jobs that I was qualified or semi-qualified to do. I kind of thought afterwards that I wouldn't be using that method again. However, my sister did the same thing and landed a wicked job off of HRDC's website right off the bat (she's still there and loves her job).

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with online job hunting and more specifically those job websites? What has been your experience(s) with those job banks/employment websites? I kinda thought that because the jobs were posted online that the employers were likely bombarded with resumes from people that live pretty much anywhere.

What's your fav pub in the Cowtown??
Posted: 9/13/2006 10:05:20 PM
Well my two cents worth is purely from a girl chasing point of view. Crazy Horse used to be my haunt when I lived in Calgary. It's kind of half a pub and half a dance club. Its on 1st street downtown. The place always had waaay more girls in it then guys...and the fact that I lived a few blocks away made for some good memories.

When we'd go in we were like "Oh yeah!".

I used to frequent the Black Swann a lot as well - two thumbs up there.

Hooters has some nice .... cold beer.

Gambit - I couldn't agree more with your post. I ended up buying a red standard stang as I could not find a white standard. I looked on autotrader.ca for around two months and gave up. I would say there is a 4 to 1 ratio of autos to standards in stangs.

WTF is wrong with that picture??
