First Sunday Evening of ea Month Karaoke/Dancing Lancaster???
Posted: 3/6/2010 3:48:41 PM
I have been to the Orange Carpet several times in the past year and I live a good hour and half away. It was always PACKED, but then again it was a Sat. night.
The bathrooms are in an odd spot, past the stage/dance floor but other than that it was a good time.
OH ... and you need to check on drink / food specials for POF.
Their prices are in the high range, and I did ask for special of the evening etc. they looked at me like I was an alien.

This Christmas.........This Economy
Posted: 12/21/2009 6:22:12 AM
Volunteerd to work 7p to 7a Christmas Eve so that those with small children can be home with them on Christmas morning no matter what they wake to, oodles of gifts or tons of love and tradition. I will see my grown children and grandson later in the day and continue our traditions we have developed as adults. Time moves on, but the memories remain and my children and their children continue the legacy of OUR FAMILY ....

A ride !

Pork and Kraut of course, well wishes to my family and friends ... nothing spectacular but heart felt and lovingly sent and time well spent.

What is your favorite Christmas Carol?
Posted: 12/20/2009 2:44:50 PM
Several ... too many to list actually.
Lots of them from the "old" standby Christmas cartoons before they were remastered and digitized.
Listening right now to
Christmas Is Here - by Stan Williamson - piano music from Charlie Brown
Frosty the Snowman - by Jimmy Durante
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - Burl Ives
Trim the Trees in Whoville - All the Whos in Whoville
Feliz NAVIDAD !!!! Sing it Jose !! OH hell yeah!

And to ROCK the house and having guests over I have Trans Siberian Orchestra loaded up and ready to go! Great driving music as well.

I listen to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir when decorating or baking, as well as Bing, Dean, Nat King Cole and the rest of the best of the best ... I am bit schizo here but gotta get all in! ALL a part of my childhood and memories of Christmas.

Cougar's??
Posted: 12/15/2009 7:06:22 PM
You would have to know the history of Johnny and June to "get it".
Their love story is much more than a few catchy lyrics.

OT ~ Cougars - not a damn thing wrong with 'em. If you are one, relish it. If you are not, envy it, but only a little. The bible says not to.

Are TV programs and video games barriers in relationships?
Posted: 11/3/2009 1:25:27 AM
If I drive 2 hours one way to spend the weekend with you and I show up after working all day and you are and your buddies are and have been drinking beer and playing video games all day long and you are almost 40? Yeah, BIG <\b> barrier.
Not once, giving him the benefit of the doubt, not twice, only one friend this time and half the amount of beer, but three times and he was OUT!

Oh, and not my loss. Not mine at all.

TV? Main stream programming that I see in other places as I don't own one myself, nor have I for years, my mother was correct in her calling it the "idiot box" as we were growing up, mostly without one. Thanks Mom!

The difference between the common flu and the H1N1 is that is killing seemingly healthy individuals. Not the elderly, not those with compromised immune systems, not babies, NOT THE NORM. Please see the CDC website for particulars and not hearsay and she saids he saids!!!!! And staying home if ill, covering coughs and sneezes with your elbow and washing your hands is the number one way to stop the spread of any illness.

On a lighter note, Robin, heard you were misbehaving again. I'm going to investigate Sat. night. and bring along a few eye witnesses. Just in case they have to testify later and schtuff.

Video surveillance, pictures, maybe even some confessions by the end of the night will be forth coming.

Why do men have to sleep with a fan running?
Posted: 9/4/2009 8:36:26 AM
Certainly not a male thing.
I live in a 100+ year old farm house with 12 - 14 foot high ceilings. No central air and only gravity registers to the upstairs. Yes, I am fortunate to live where it's quiet.
Closest neighbor is 1/4 mile away down my gravel road.
Quiet ? Unnervingly so to many who visit.

I work 7p to 7a, so subsequently I sleep when that big bright shiny hot thing is in the sky. Without a fan running, and I am not talking a piddly 20 dollar box fan ... I would smother in that upstairs most of the time. Point it at the ceiling and it deflects back down off the wall and bathes me in a balmy breeze while I slumber. Ceiling fan is present, but there is no comparison to my wind machine.

Opposite in Winter. The 19 blankets aforementioned and flannel are required.
And the fan on low circulates the heat coming through the gravity register.
Lovely white noise with a purpose.

Socializing before the internet
Posted: 8/1/2009 1:18:23 AM
I am very outgoing, always have been, most likely always will be.
I talk to people. I say "hello" to strangers on the street, or anyone that makes eye contact with me and I especially speak to everyone that gets on an elevator with me. WHY NOT?

I have made some wonderful friends simply by saying "hello". Participated in some very cool things, met people I never would have. The whole "SHY" train missed me completely and I'm thankful for it!

According to your geographical location, I don't believe you have been to any of the parties in CBus, Akron, or Mentor?
There is no way anyone gets past the meet and greet gestapo at these events.
And anyone sitting all by theirself is a particular favorite target once the parties get started.

* and if no one is talking to you, has it occured to you to go over and strike a conversation with them?

I have talked to many a stranger, just because. Why not? Have you got something to lose besisdes the thought that no one talks to you .... it's rather fun actually.
I should list that as one of my interests come to think of it.

I hung out with people Sat. night I met from here. None of us date each other, just had fun !! Like I said, I dig POF and the people I have met from here. The forums? mmmmmm .... used to be one whole helluva lot funner, but oh well! I'll live ...

I made friends at one of the very first gatherings in Ohio ... Luckys in Cbus.
And that was awhile ago for those of you who are new.
And wonders of wonders !!! We are all still friends almost 3 years later !!!
In fact, there's a bunch of us hanging out this Sat. night ... Lonies BDAY!!!
Originals, Lonie, Jackie, JT, Nikki, Neysha, and the list goes on and on.
Hope you got the text invitation. If you didn't, text one of us darn it!!!
We talk in person, we hang out, we eat breakfast, we notarize things *lol JT ... we text, we do things together which is what friends do!!!
I have seen relationships bloom and grow, and yes of course, some die.
Such is life. It does move on and so should people. They call it the past for a reason.
I felt 0ptimistic back then, and now ??? .... it has never been better to be a fish in this pond!!!

Gas Price increase. What do you think?
Posted: 5/11/2009 1:31:32 PM
Gasoline will always be in demand in this lifetime. Pepole may bellyache all they want. Tis a fact. Deal with it.
My point is to make it available from American Oil.
This forum is about gas prices, not how to not use gas.
That is another subject entirely.
I'm sure Greenpeace supporters would chime in heartily if one were started.

I work over 50 miles one way from my home and have no intention of ever riding a bicycle to get there. Nor drive one of those little plug in cars *which still use gas btw... that wouldn't make it up and down my 1/2 mile gravel hill, nor the roads I use to get into town to a highway when the ice is thick and the snow is blowing. Apparently they aren't very good in heavy rain either. Have a friend in Cincy whose work provides them one and he said it is hard to handle on the road in a downpour.
I use energy saver lights at home.
I don't have central air. I don't own a TV.
I recycle my trash, aluminum, glass etc.
I don't make trips to town for one thing.
So don't even get started on how wasteful this spoiled sloth of an American is.
My carbon footstep on the planet is very small and I like it that way.
And I would like it even better if the gas I use in my truck were American made!

Gas Price increase. What do you think?
Posted: 5/10/2009 2:34:37 AM
American oil is too "dirty" to refine for gasoline or so they say.
I am very very VERY familiar with the producers / haulers / refineries of American pumped oil. Yes, I dallied with oilfield trash on occassion and they are too much freaking fun btw !!!
I say horsepuckey. Horsepuckey and then some.
That oil? It is not too bad, too thick, too dirty to be refined.
And natural gas is the by product. I have some pumped into my own house for gosh sakes from a well down over the hill. I love it and I keep my furnace on 68 just in case you think I am hogging it all !

It's going somewhere. And last year during the madness, new wells drilled on private property here in the US reached an all time high. How many people have fuel oil furnaces ? mmmm hmmmmm ..... that's dirty oil btw. But what oil isn't?

P.S. Paper doesn't freeze at the temps a mere freezer produces.
It's just cold cash.
If it were hard, it would shatter.
What good would that do me?
It would be "change" then, yes?

Gas Price increase. What do you think?
Posted: 5/9/2009 3:53:10 PM
Gas prices have went up 30 cents a gallon in this area in the last week and a half.
$ 2.30 a gallon for regular.

True supply and demand for gasoline in this country, based upon studies done by several means have all come up with about the same price per gallon that gasoline should be. It's right around the two dollar mark or a bit above.
I believe I'm willing to pay that without grumbling too much.
I drive over 100 miles a day to/from work so I would be the first to complain you would think.?

Stock shares ... their value is what someone THINKS they are worth at that particular moment. Not based upon supply and demand by any means. Speculation is a word bandied about by brokers and investors looking to make a buck on what someone THINKS.

The locals? They THINK their product is worth so much and they sell it as such.
They speculate that you are gonna need that gas to go to the lake, shop and what not that weekend.

No difference. NONE.
Speculate and the word unique.

Can't say as I care too much for either of them.

Tent Worms in Trees
Posted: 5/8/2009 6:21:11 AM
There is a spray that you can buy, check at your local nursery, pretty inexpensive and you mix it with water ... you will need a commercial grade sprayer to spray the tree with it. Saturate the tree and every living thing near it.
They can eat a tree bare in less than 24 hours.
Cutting down a tree does not get rid of the problem. It , they, the voracious little monsters move onto the next yummy green thing long before the one they killed is gone.

Singles with children...
Posted: 4/17/2009 6:51:52 PM
Dated a man for a few years who had sole custody of his small daughter. She and I became very close, spent alot of time together.
I think about her to this day, I still send her presents, cards for holidays, bdays etc.
I made sure that when he and I split up that she knew that it had nothing to do with her that I would not be able to see her.
I wish she was my blood so I could at least get visitation.
My choice now is to date someone without small children due to that.
It's not because I don't like kids, it's because I end up loving them and don't want to be without them long after the relationship is over.
