What do you see as the effects of feminism on our society?
Posted: 7/21/2010 2:10:12 PM
I just watched the author of " What french women know" on youtube and she states that the difference between the feminist movement in FRANCE and in the states is that in France its all about equality, equal pay etc were in the states it got co-opted by extremist in the lib movement that coined the phrase " battle of the sexes" basically that American women are taught that U.S. men are BAD and should not be respected were in France, french women STILL love and Respect French men. This theory is backed up by the fact that poll after poll after poll, French couples are FAR happier than there U.S. counterparts and of course have a very low devorce rate as opposed to are's which is the highest in the world. And in general French women are more sophisticated in their dating habits i.e. a good french girl would NEVER date the "BAD-BOY" type......that in a nutshell, being Nice is actually considered a Strength, not a Weakness like in America.........sigh.........How much are one-way tickets too Paris?

The USMC was founded on 10 nov 1775 at Tun's Tavern, Philidelphia. Here it is 234 years later and were still out performing the ARMY and bustin' the chop's of the NAVY and AIRFARCE. Any group of Warriors that was founded in a bar is okay in my book! Semper fidelis

does anyone still write love letters?
Posted: 9/22/2009 5:54:29 PM
A couple of year's ago my just before my grandma past away, i was showing her how to send an e-mail ( she was taking a computer class at her nursing home ) and i'll never forget this......she got a very sad look on her face and dscribed to me in great detail how she would go down to the stationary store and buy perfumed paper, ink, a stylish envelope and then procede to right grandpa who was oversea's......alot of TLC went into those letter's. An end to an era i guess.

Jarheads and people's first impression...
Posted: 4/18/2009 3:49:19 PM
Im a former PARATROOPER ( Bco 1-505 p.i.r.) and a MARINE ( 2d RECON bn ) and yes i've been running into this alot to the point that i wont bring it up because of peoples preconceived notion's i.e. gun-nut, right-wing fanatic ( i'm a registered democrat) or mentally unstable........there was a great article recently discussing the growing "disconnect" between the military and civilian population which started when we ended the draft and went over to a small, all volunteer force. I got friends in the British ARMY that tell me they get treated like pure crap back home in the uk which is very sad because there 1) awesome warriors 2) have a long and proud tradition......alot of it they said stems from the fact that their country lean's to the "left" a little more than are's.......then there's ISREAL which has mandatory conscription and no college deferment so EVERYONE has to do there time and as a result ISREALI servicemembers enjoy a certain amount of respect etc

Posted: 3/30/2009 9:24:34 PM
Turned 40 back in sept.......very happy about my life and the road travelled etc......some "kid" not to long ago asked me would i give up all my wisdom and "lesson's learned" to have a young body again, i said NO-WAY life is so much easier now. Of course there are things i wish had turned out better but i manage to maintain that "glass half full" attitude.

are women leery of guys over 30 who have never been married?
Posted: 3/19/2009 3:55:17 PM
.....40 and never even came close to being married, mostly my job took me all over so establishing a relationship was difficult at best because i have to pick up and move every so often. Now that i'm settled in one spot looking to "be" with someone but most women my age group are married or they want to marry for practical reasons i.e. someone to take care of them rather than for feelings of love etc. "sigh" but i'm still remaining positive that it will happen in it's time

What your musical development?
Posted: 1/6/2009 7:46:21 PM
Born in 1968......My dad was in "NAM" and my mom was in college "expanding her mind".....I'm a child of the 80's but had to listen to my parent's talk about how much the 60's "ROCKED" and that my generation's music/ mtv "Suck's" hehe kinda what we say about these kid's now.....first became "aware" of music when i use to sing along with my mom to "ABBA" while she was driving.......then it was classic rock.....then came the 80's were it was New wave, participated in Desertstorm were we were completely cut off from the world, when we went over and it was all about MC Hammer and Sinead o'connor, come back and was like " Who the hell is Pearl-jam/ Nirvana?".......suffered through early 90's club music i.e. Haddaway THEN what i refer to as the "DARK TIMES" Backstreet boys, NYSNC, and ole Britny S.....sigh......now it's revisiting music from my childhood and yes my parent's were right......the 80's DID suck ( but i'll never admit to it around them!)

Do you think you would be a good married person ?
Posted: 7/22/2007 7:55:24 PM
I've never been married so it's all theory to me.......I belive i'd be good at it because of my age (38) and the maturity that comes with it, and i'm good at being attentive to the other persons need's etc BUT i'm fiercely independent so it's not so much IF i'd make a good husband but a person would have to be very special in my eye's to want to settle down with.....are you out there?

So Happy Together . . .
Posted: 5/23/2007 2:49:26 PM
I was reading this story about people who work out ( exercise) more than 3 hr's a day are exercise addict's but it's a lot harder to combat because exercise is seen as an honourable trait etc. Unlike being addicted to drug's/alcohol, the former is considered socially exceptible......just like workaholic's they refuse to address issue's in their life by hiding behind somthing. Really really sad, and like other addiction's they hurt the people around them that care for them.

The truth about Pheremones...
Posted: 5/16/2007 11:40:11 AM
I think that if pheremones ( store bought) really did work AND it became common knowledge than it would defeat the whole purpose if everyone was wearing it to the club's.......and just because someone attract's attention doesn't mean the RIGHT attention. Ask ANY man and they will tell you they dont go looking for there future wife in a bar, mostly to party and maybe roll around the hay for one nite! Now if that's what your looking for than i say "YOU GO GIRL" there's nothing wrong with having a lil fun.

Lack of maturity, self esteam, miscommunication ( or none at all) or just havn't grown up yet are all factor's.......Yes cheater's CAN change but it wont happen intill THERE ready, you cant force someone to change ( alot of ladies and some men dont comprehend this!) kind of like AMERICA trying to force democracy on the world.

bring our troops home
Posted: 5/15/2007 7:31:14 PM
Brought up some great point's bobOcolo BUT.....as SEN. JOHN MCCAIN pointed out the SURGE has JUST started and the feeling among us is let's see this thing WORK, I guess with our awarness of military history ( 1-2 hr's a day at P.I. for 13 week's) we know the FIGHT could be alot worse (NORMANDY 2000 dead the first day ) But of course the american public's tolerance for casualties is very low ( maybe a good thing?) REMEMBER..... if BLACK HAWK DOWN had happened in WW2, KOREA or VIETNAM you never would have heard about it! YES my BUD'S do believe in the mission, 100% re-enlistment rate in my platoon and some guy's in my unit over there now are volunteering for the next rotation WHILE there still there. ( crazy kid's!) but yes i'll be the first to admit you could find SOLDIER'S that dont believe in the WAR, mostly member's of the 23RD MESSKIT REPAIR BATTALION ( airmobile) basically the servicemember's who spent all there lives talking back to there parent's, teacher's etc and now they hate the military because for the first time they actually have to do what there told and use the war as an excuse to b*tch.....now dont get me wrong not ALL of them but a high % AND no i dont believe that people who are against the war dont like/love us i was just talking about the vast majority who dont care because it doesn't effect them except for a lil inconveniance at the airport BTW they opened KFC in HO CHI MIHN CITY (Vietnam) so MAYBE we did win? playing devil's advocate........

bring our troops home
Posted: 5/14/2007 3:29:44 PM
As far as "PERCEPTIONS" about the Anti-war movement and them "Supporting" the troop's by wanting them home the consensus from MYSELF and the VAST majority of veterans over there is we all grew up in the military hearing the stories from Vietnam vet's about them coming home and being spat on and called "baby killer" etc......i believe these instances were "rare" BUT it doesn't make a differance, they are ingrained into are mind's and so even if we WANTED to join the peace movement ( i think about it ) the feeling is we would be hirting are bud's over there and believe me i feel more KINSHIP towards my fellow MARINES/PARATROOPER'S than the civilian on the street that is largely indifferent to our effort's ( somtimes i think they should bring back the draft!) ESPRIT DE CORP is something that is very very powerful......In a nut shell the Peace movement has an IMAGE problem. I may be against the war but MAYBE i dont believe in Legalizing pot, gay marriage, America out of the Phillipine's etc that these 'HANGER ON'S" that congregate at the peace rally's try to push and it's very hard to take someone seriously when there wearing a tie-dye shirt, dreadlock's and are more interested in "picking up chick's" at the rally than what they CLAIM to stand for! One thing the VETERANS and PEACE movement largely have in common is that we CARE, as opposed to the vast majority that rather watch AMERICAN IDOL or buy the latest plasma tv. Anyway me and my bud's feel that let this "SURGE" run it's coarse, see if it work's ( GEN. David Patreus is a BRILLIANT man and a GREAT Soldier!) and if it doesn't THAN bring us home.....That is are "GIFT" to all of you!.......I never stopped loving this country EVEN when it stopped loving me......

I lived there for 2 yr's straight.......stay away from SOI COWBOY, NANA PLAZA or PATPONG just tourist traps and some of the "LADYS" in patpong and nana are actually KATOEY'S ( MEN) and belive me intill you been there a while you CANT tell the difference. SUKEMVIHT SOI 33 has some nice club's, i belive MINISTRY OF SOUND is closed now as well as other places you might have read about on account of the local government/police will close down a club out of spite. The DUBLINER on SUKMEVIHT RD has a great menu and nice, upscale crowed but the "IN" place to be is BED SUPPERCLUB or CM2........KHOASON RD is okay but full of collage kid's from Europe so their's a slight anti-american sentiment there......and lastly stay away from PATTAYA unless you are actually out to pick up hookers, that place is downright disturbing!

The ELBO ROOM in TOLEDO.OHIO........When i moved to the south i used to litterally dream about this place, a thin "PASTRY" crust that rumor has it DOMINOE'S offered the owner a couple of mil for the recipe and he declined it. There is a NYC food critic that roamed the world for 2 yr's looking for the pirfect pizza, said he found it in TUCSON,AZ.....but he also blasted pizza made in NAPLES,ITL as well as CHICAGO deep dish which he declared was nothing more than a casserol......i guess it's all subjective.

I once heard a funny comment " My d*ck might be small, but i have 178 pound's of pressure behind it" lol There was a story about in ASIA 98% of asian women belived there where "pretty" etc, then it slowly dropped down till now it's like 40 somthing % , sociologist in that region were trying to figure why such a drop and why a rise in suicides, breast enhancement, plastic surgery ( to make there eyes western/more rounder looking) and came to the conclusion that the same year the drop started was the same year the ban was lifted on "WESTERN" advertising in womens magazines etc......very few Asian women have large breast's, blond hair, light skin, round eyes etc........it's sad what peoples perception's are on beauty ( i'm as superficial as the next person) But i'm slowly growing up and realizing it's "substance" that cont's etc.......

This "MAN" obviously has underlying issue's........as stated by everyone you should get out of that situation asap ( and suggest counseling) unfortunately it will only be a matter of time before he'll hit again ( or worse) just because he has some "good" quallity's isn't a reason to stand by him! If he's serious about rehabilitation than he need's to show initiative and seek it out with very little prodding.......You cant "change" him, he has to change himself!

Soldier gets 100 years in prison
Posted: 4/30/2007 6:49:26 PM
I served over there twice and look's like i'll be going back there this fall ( cant say exactly because of OPSEC!) but i will tell you that historically the U.S. military is held to a hire standard than any other army in the world........i have no problem with that BUT the general public AND the world need to understand that. If this horrible situation had involved a soldier from another army (think Russian's in Chechnya) you would never hear about this and if you did there would be a cover up. Very few other army's in the world would ever prosicute one of there own soldier's......that say's alot of GOOD thing's about our society! Remember, it was a fellow american soldier that blew the whistle at abu grabe. (sorry about my spelling)
