Are there any decent looking ladies that go to these POF get togethers

Like the OP, I've noticed most of the POF parties I've attended there's a lot of guys out of my age range (both way too old and wayyyyy too young), and very few anywhere near my age, so I've pretty much given up on POF parties as a way to meet single guys in Houston.

5th Houston POF Hot 'n Sweaty Party - Friday,Sept. 18th, EJ's Sportsbar
Posted: 9/8/2009 7:45:33 PM
As a former organizer of POF Parties in Houston, I can safely say its all about location, location, location..... Every event I planned I tried to make it central so that the biggest amount of people could make it out....

A lot of parties I organized were to bars I dig, and usually have a good time at, the music was just a side thing....

There aren't a lot of places to 2 step near the center of town, though I've heard of a country bar on Washington, I have yet to check it out and see what its like atmosphere wise but I have a feeling its like every other bar on Washington just with a country theme..... But I could be wrong.....

random question..... how is it the 4 th annual when we've had one this year?

Shouldn't it be semi annual or something? Since annual implies we waited a year?!?!?

Houston HOT & SWEATY ~ Post Party and Pics
Posted: 7/6/2009 7:50:22 PM
Ways to get more of a young crowd.....

No offense but most people in my age range don't really hang at places like the Concert Pub... The Tavern would be a good place for a mixer, enough parking, good drinks, though the waitstaff can be iffy..... And its centrally located, and the regular crowd there is ALOT more diverse.....

Places in Rice Village would be good for that too....

And I know that people have boo'ed Sherlocks as being a 'gay' bar, but its really not, the waitstaff is great there, parkings good and the age of the crowd is about 21-50 years old....

The only other solution I can think of would be to message people in that age range one by one and invite them out.....

So I just realized this morning that I had my camera on me all night and never used it.

And you already know my suggestion, Cat.... Its the same one I ALWAYS have....

It was nice meeting your daughter and her PIF (Did spell that right? ) and his oh so silent friend.... Who was cute but way quiet.... He seemed angry for some reason......

And its crazy people kept thanking me for hosting the party and I had nothing to do with it..... Ah well.

And Amy's been hanging on the DL and mostly around Clear Lake... I seriously doubt I can get her to come out...

is it cheating?
Posted: 6/28/2009 12:33:32 PM
Ok, so I was hanging out with a group of girlfriends and one of their fiancee's last night.... Its really crowded and we're all drinking, etc.....

Before I go any further, let me add this disclaimer..... a. I didn't think of him a 'guy' because he's engaged and b. he wasn't attractive even if he was single.....

So the night goes on and I'm noticing the fiancee's getting a bit handsy.... But only with me.... He's rubbing my back and grabbing my a$$.... I scoot as far away as I can thinking whatever, I've dealt with handsy drunks before....

At the end of the night though I'm going to say good night and hugging everyone.... And as I go to hug him, he goes like he's going to kiss me.... I duck and dodge and he catches my shoulder instead.....

But its been bugging me ever since....

Was he being a cheat or just a drunk?

And if you think he was cheating, should I tell his fiancee what was going on?

Or am I just being paranoid?????

Just moved to the houston area and looking to have some fun where can one do that?
Posted: 6/23/2009 4:15:34 PM
Snow, whats that?

Is it that cold white stuff that we get here like once a decade?

And I've lived here most of my life and the closest I've gotten to "snow" that was ski-able (is that a word???) was a fake hill set up at Sun n Ski Sports a few years back... I don't know if they have it anymore... But it was an incline that was carpeted that had some sort of rolling mechanism so it looks KIND OF like you were skiing... If you used your imagination...

I've actually quit clicking on the profiles above my inbox all together....

and I don't use the search options..... There's always too many choices and I know I'm not picky enough to narrow it down anymore... The profiles above my inbox were a way to expand my potential messages sent....

I'm now only messaging people I know, and that is NOT the purpose of this site, I know. I'm not sure how long it will be til I quit using this site all together.....

I've got the same problem kapookie...

But the opposite....

I keep getting guys from Dallas, Ft Worth, Abilene and Ft Hood....

I don't mind too much since Dallas guys and soldiers are good looking dudes but I WOULD like to see guys from my area again.

Nothing's changed in my settings, so I think POF, I think its you not me....

Friend's Mixer - Houston - 5/30/09 - 7:30 pm - Fox and the Hound
Posted: 5/27/2009 7:25:15 PM
Actually Daisy (and Peacesigns) there's not really a mailing list per say....

You just have to check back in the Texas event forums or links to events will appear at the bottom of your inbox.....

For most events theres one mass mailing that can go out to people within a certain radius where the event is occuring. So if you live within X amount of miles of where the event or get together is happening you'll get a general email from the host or hostess. And most times it will have a link to the forums where you can RSVP for the event.

And I'll be at a soccer game I think Saturday night, so I'm out.

GTG Suggestions/Ideas/Critiques
Posted: 5/24/2009 11:48:31 AM
Ok, before last night its been a while since I've hosted an event.... And I'm going to try to do a few more over the summe..... But before when I hosted (along with Cat) I heard a lot of complaints about the places we chose being too loud and you couldn't hear anyone talk, etc.

And last night I heard some complaints about there being no dancing, and that it wasn't really obvious what group was my party....

I'm just curious.... If you could have your perfect get together what would it be? Where would it be? Why would you have it there?

Thanks!

Why Do Women Live to Text
Posted: 5/17/2009 12:10:01 PM
I don't know why other women love to text, I can only speak for myself....

Personally I'm on the phone most of the day at work so the last thing I want when I'm off work is to talk on the phone.

Plus with texting I can text at my leisure.... There's time to consider what you're writing, and if you're busy with something you can come back and text whenever you have time to....

But I have to admit I'm really more of a face to face kind of communicator... Emoticons are great for some things but to really see emotions in someone's face and the best way to see if there's any chemistry there......

TEXAS Trivia

A. Alaska - landwise

B. New York - population wise

FYI - Houston's the 4th largest city population wise in the entire U.S. (though its been a couple of years since I heard that stat so I could be off.)

C. The Red, Rio Grande, Colorado, Sabine and Pecos.

D. Tejas - I can't remember if its the Indian or Spanish word for 'friend'.

E. Totally a guess here - Drink more beer.
Or maybe its "Drive Friendly - The Texas Way" that is whats on the signs when you come into the state right?

F. Another guess - the bat.

HOUSTON POF PARTY SUGGESTIONS
Posted: 3/5/2009 9:45:50 PM
the only replacement venues for sherlocks I could think of with good parking and enough room for a nice turn out would be:

the tavern on west gray
richmond arms
or wild west

Personally I'd like to try a gathering at Richmond Arms just to see how it turned out. I had my bday there back in December.... But I don't remember much about it...

Love love LOVE Underwoods in Brownwood on the rare occasion I'm in West Texas.

Rudy's in the Hill Country.

Here in Houston though....

Demeris is pretty good.
Goode and Co is okay.
Luther's (before they became Pappas BBQ) was AWESOME!

And I have yet to try Luling City Market but keep wanting to go.
