Hi all! I have a major work function the night before this, but depending on how my morning after is, I might come up too! Northern Miss, it's been too long since I've seen you!

Tabbs and crew - If I can make it up, is there any chance of crashing with you guys?

Lyrics that move you
Posted: 3/19/2007 7:43:02 PM
Love Hurts by Nazareth always gets to me:

Love hurts, love scars,
Love wounds, and marks,
Any heart, not tough,
Or strong, enough
To take a lot of pain,
Take a lot of pain
Love is like a cloud
Holds a lot of rain
Love hurts, ooh ooh love hurts

Im young, I know,
But even so
I know a thing, or two
I learned, from you
I really learned a lot,
Really learned a lot
Love is like a flame
It burns you when its hot
Love hurts, ooh ooh love hurts

Some fools think of happiness
Blissfulness, togetherness
Some fools fool themselves I guess
Theyre not foolin me

I know it isnt true,
I know it isnt true
Love is just a lie,
Made to make you blue
Love hurts, ooh,ooh love hurts
Ooh,ooh love hurts

Been there, done that. I was lucky and it ended with no harm done.

Just make sure all the cards are on the table....as you said, either way it goes you're going to be labelled a prick, so..........

Good luck. I hope whichever way it goes, it goes well for you.

Women and their Drinks?
Posted: 3/14/2007 7:24:10 PM

I think this new law should be mandortary for all bar to allow drinks into the washroom and every bar should apply for this license than..

I would much rather take my drink with me into the washroom, dirty though it may be, than risk having it spiked.

How sad is it that we (meaning women or men) can't trust the person next to us enough to leave anything (drink, purse, coat) alone for two minutes without fear?

I think that any bar should be willing to apply for this "licence" for community space if they want to keep their patrons - regular or monthly.

song lyrics that describe your mood
Posted: 3/13/2007 5:20:44 PM
Well I'm feeling pretty dismal today, so here's my song

Time - Pink Floyd
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but its sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in the relative way, but youre older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the english way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought Id something more to say

Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
And when I come home cold and tired
Its good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells.

3-Year-Old Child Mauled By Dog
Posted: 3/13/2007 3:50:07 PM
I was also surprised to hear the dog was a Golden...but I was also glad to hear that for once it wasn't a Pit.

Pitties have got such a bad rap - owner's should be held responsible for their dogs' actions, and the actions of their children.

I just hope the little girl is ok, and doesn't develop a life-long fear of dogs from this.

song lyrics that describe your mood
Posted: 3/10/2007 7:23:32 AM
RIP Brad. Thanks for the music.

Into Temptation by Crowded House kind of describes my mood right now - somewhat melancholy I guess.

You opened up your door
I couldnt believe my luck
You in your new blue dress
Taking away my breath
The cradle is soft and warm
Couldnt do me no harm
Youre showing me how to give

Into temptation
Knowing full well the earth will rebel
Into temptation

In a muddle of nervous words
Could never amount to betrayal
The sentence is all my own
The price is to watch it fail
As I turn to go
You looked at me for half a second
An open invitation for me to go

Into temptation
Knowing full well the earth will rebel
Into temptation
Safe in the wide open arms of hell

We can go sailing in
Climb down
Lose yourself when you linger long
Into temptation
Right where you belong

The guilty get no sleep
In the last slow hours of morning
Experience is cheap
I shouldve listened to the warning
But the cradle is soft and warm

Into temptation
Knowing full well the earth will rebel
Into your wide open arms
No way to break the spell
Dont tell

How to ruin your cats day!
Posted: 3/10/2007 6:47:50 AM
Greanize - hope your meezer gets better soon. Poor little guy

This is a great thread - my four have provided me with endless hours of entertainment - and frustration!

Penny - she likes to help with clean sheet day, and also likes to play "drip" - sitting in the tub I have to turn the tap on till it drips slowly and she tries to catch the drips.

Molly - she's just needy!

Sadie - poor Sadie has taken two years to get enough confidence to allow me to give her belly rubs (she's a rescue)

Alex - 3/4 siamese and a total brat - his latest trick is to steal my fluffy gloves out of my purse, and gets most offended when I take them away. He's also discovered the fish tanks and likes to swat at the fish. I was cleaning one of the tanks the other day, and found him balanced on the edge of the tank with one paw raised!

on a friday night when others are out dating and I"'m happily at home in my pjs with my dog thistle keeping me company.

Well, now - something about this comment made me think - if we are happy under these circumstances, is that not a large degree of success in itself?

To be happy with yourself - the greatest success of all. Just MHO

Posted: 3/9/2007 5:36:30 PM
I agree with most of the posters here - since I have joined POF I have made a bunch of new friends - at a point where I felt my life was going absolutely nowhere fast.

It was hard to come out to parties by myself at first, but the more I come to the more people I meet, and it is SO nice to know that I can go places by myself now and feel welcomed.

And just to spoil the sentiment..................woo hoo!!!! I'm on top!!!

I think it's wonderful when a man shows the old fashioned chivalrous side of himself. I wish it happened more often, along with holding doors, etc.

Most of the guys at work hold doors for me, and even though that is an every day occurance, it still gives me a warm glow. Of course I return the favour when appropriate!

Funky Offbeat Memories for those 40+....
Posted: 3/8/2007 4:11:58 AM

Does anyone remember playing "elastics". You raided your mom's sewing kit for elastic and tied it in a knot and then placed it around your ankles, knees and armpits. You did an arrangement of jumps and if you were successful, you climbed to the next level.

In England we called that french skipping, and you were really cool if you collected a bunch of different coloured elastic bands and made the loop!! The hardest part was that the school uniform shoes had buckles on them, which kept catching!

To the lady sitting on the other side of me (sorry I can't remember your name at all) - thanks for chatting and dancing. Hope to see you again soon
To the guy who lit my cigarette outside - thanks - such a gentleman!
Rocker48 - good to finally get a chance to say hello - get going on the rides!!!

* Every year 2 weeks at the seaside with my grandparents. That is still my most favourite place in the whole world, in South Wales

* Tying my four brothers up in strings and making them run round the garden pretending they were four horses and I was driving them. They sure wouldn't let me do that now!

* Visiting my crazy drummer uncle. He's the first person who treated me like a grown up. Of course, he's the person who started me smoking....

I used to love pancakes, but now I don't eat them because I'm basically too lazy to make them!!

My Nan used to make them in England - more like thick crepes, and we sprinkled sugar and lemon juice on them, and rolled them up and ate them with our fingers - yummy!

Damn, now I want pancakes...........

Well, for me there is always hope that I will meet "someone" at one of these parties, but more importantly I have met some new people who have become good friends, and hopefully I will meet more.

So I guess it's a bit of both for me.
