Dance lands teachers in trouble

No I don't think they should lose jobs over this incident but a reprimand might be in order. Lapse in judgment is bit of an understatement though.

Christmas dinner - chicken breast stuffed with pork tenderloin and sausage what do you think?
Posted: 12/21/2009 5:18:57 PM
I think that receipe is worth a trial first before a special occasion - how bout skip the cinnamin/apple and add dried cranberries and cashews to the pork and maybe some celery?

another legal system story that makes you go WTF?
Posted: 12/16/2009 5:33:17 AM
I was on union business with someone who works in Justice and he was telling me that this slap on the wrist stuff is causing inmates to gloat and go what the hell .... why not. Very frustrating for those that work with young offenders.

Dental work too expensive? Go overseas
Posted: 12/3/2009 4:58:58 AM
with the cost of dental implants and never being covered by medical plans I can understand why people go abroad for this work. If I had enough to warrant it i might do it myself! PS Dental work and medical work of any kind is just fine in Canada. I am really glad I am insured. I can't imagine what Americans must go through. Citizens there must be appalled at the waste of sending trillions to war efforts and not being able to put money back to medically insure their citizens. We Canadians would never stand for that

Hoarders...feedback please
Posted: 12/1/2009 5:19:08 AM
Age and Opportunity have a program called "Full House". Call them and make a referral. I am sure that Cancer Care social workers will help relocate the woman getting chemo and living with that other lady and the social worker there may intervene and make the referral to Age and Opportunity for you.

Where to Vacation!
Posted: 10/25/2009 5:25:43 PM
Greek Islands are wonderful - spent a month there in 97. Best to fly into Athens and then fly out to the first of the islands in the centre of Greece; work yourselves around either clock wise or counter clock wise and then fly out of Chandler on Crete. Avoid Athens- dirty smelly like New York without the culture and theatre. You could stay two days to see the Acropolis etc and then out out....

Hmmmmm - how responsible is it for you to be discussing "your clients" on a public forum? I don't think the agency that you work for would be real excited about that! As a professional you should know better.

someone I used to go out with was always hassling me to switch to MTS but I prefer Shaw for cable, internet but use Primus for phone at present. Was thinking of switching back to shaw for phone though just to save a few bucks on bundle package.

manitoba nurses named if found abusing drugs and alcohol on duty
Posted: 5/10/2009 3:21:04 PM
All nurses have to be licensed and can not practice without it. Any nurse found to be using is at "risk" of having their license suspended. I see no one point in publishing names as that just simply puts their careers at risk for ever even if they receive treatment. Is there any point in making someone unemployable? If they continually relapse then of course they shouldn't be practising and their associations protect us from that by suspending their license indefinitely I believe.

Unfortunately there is a high degree of prescription drug use in nursing profession - but a hugely stressful field not unlike policemen, firefighters, dentistry, doctors, etc.

Treat drug addiction like alcohol addiction I say

We met where?
Posted: 4/16/2009 5:21:45 AM
In this day and age I think it is pretty normal now to meet this way. How different is it from a singles group, a neighbourhood bar, etc. This way you actually get to chat with someone via email until you are comfortable meeting them in a public place. Those that pass judgement on this avenue of meeting someone can simply keep their opinions to themselves as far as I am concerned. I am confident this is no different or no more dangerous than any other way provided you interview well.

Japanese Meat Balls
Posted: 4/5/2009 9:02:38 AM
I would probably cook the meatballs in a broiler pan on 350 for 15 minutes - turning a couple of times. Then freeze them on a cookie sheet and toss them in a slow cooker later with the other ingredients and cook for 3-4 hours.

my neighbours put in geothermal last year (40's style brick house) and figured the cost saving was really worth the $13,000 it cost after rebates to put it in. Sure made a hell of a mess of the front lawn though!

Relationships and Mom
Posted: 3/26/2009 11:59:18 AM
not all women should have children or will make decent parents. Their children they give birth to pay a lifetime consequence for that. Don't blame the victims. And there are two sides to each story!

It is never a healthy situation for one to not get along with their parents but sometimes choices need to be made. If someone has chosen to give distance to that relationship sometimes it is the healthiest of choices. Just my two cents.

Costa Rica adventure
Posted: 2/19/2009 5:15:04 AM
just arrived back from costa rica and loved it! It did rain though not intense and certainly not all day and it depends on where you are at the time. We took an eco tour for 10 days through Caravan and loved it. While we couldn't see Arenal Volcano as it was too cloudy but it was beautiful country. We attempted two river raft trips and both cancelled at last minute as they said the river was too high and too fast. The Pacific West side is very pretty and drier. Go you will love it!

City Wants to Certify Homes Prior to Sale (Residential Compliance Certificates)
Posted: 2/1/2009 7:41:27 AM
ssems anytime bureaucrats get involved there is trouble. I have no issue with home inspection it is simply common sense. You don't buy a used vehicle without having your mechanic look at it. When govt or city gets involved they are simply making great jobs with good salaries for their buds ie. RRAP program? does that ring any bells. It created great jobs for out of work contractors to do the home inspections to ensure that you were able to borrow money from the city to do the work you were going to do anyway. What a racket!

An interior designer. By the time I left high school I realized I didn't have as much talent as I thought I did and moved another direction and as it turned out it was probably the right direction.

New Years Resolutions
Posted: 1/4/2009 7:04:24 AM
to take off unwanted weight and keep it off

to work towards a retirement plan and option (3 years to count down or ?)
perhaps to consider finishing another degree before I lose the credits

to clean out my wickedly crowded closet in basement of clothing that doesn't fit
to follow the physio exercises after getting knee scoped so I can return to aerobics
to continue to swim four days a week no matter how cold it is out there
