HST!
Posted: 3/28/2010 9:03:50 PM
1) I never need to decide whether I should or shouldn't be charging clients PST again, 2) I can deduct PST paid on all my business expenses (whereas now I can only do so for a few), and 3) it's a couple less forms to fill out every year

Notice that all 3 of these mentioned benifits are to business owners and not the regular working person.

Telus or Shaw
Posted: 3/13/2010 9:08:48 AM
Correct me if I am wrong but you are only able to have 1 HD pvr with telus right?

That is the biggest reason I did try them because I use 2 HD pvrs in my home.

Selling of Olympic Uniforms
Posted: 3/10/2010 9:06:54 PM
I remember the expo sale and was there and bought pins ...... oh and the passport and stamped the passport with all the stamps there.

I actually still have my employee package "documents" and an employee of the month pin as well.

But as far as the original post I just thought that the govt can make some money, people that want the clothing don't get ripped off and those who purchased clothes to sell at a huge profit will get stuck.

Kinda like I hate scalpers

Selling of Olympic Uniforms
Posted: 3/8/2010 10:20:52 PM
Here is an idea, if there is such a big demand for them why does the gov't not have some more made up and sell them to help offset the money we spent on the olympics. This way people that want them don't get ripped off and the gov't gets revenue to help pay for the games.

Car Maintenance Question
Posted: 3/8/2010 10:18:02 PM
128,000 is the next maintenance required.

And a tranny mechanic friend advised me not to do tranny flushes because it was not good for your tranny. Just do the change and filter and it is cheaper

Telus or Shaw
Posted: 3/8/2010 10:10:01 PM
As far as a tv it depends on the size, if it is 50" range or larger I would go plasma, I have both and the plasma is nicer.

As far as cable I went with shaw because I can get HD on both tv's, if you use telus you can only use on HD box ...... once I found that out I stopped looking into switching.

Hope this helps

Dramatically changing your look or style
Posted: 2/12/2010 8:17:27 AM
I dont know if anyone loves their new styles right away, they kinda grow on you because you are not use to it.

As far as changing styles or looks I think it is easier for women because there are a lot more options for them. It's like when men go shopping for clothes 75% of space is for womens clothes.

I did however really long hair in the eighties .......

Women are visual too!
Posted: 2/5/2010 6:23:32 PM

I have met some people and thought they were goodlooking, only to talk to them and find them ugly.

Yes but the initial physical impression was what got you over to talk to him. I figure selling yourself is like selling a car, you have to clean her up and make her look the best she can be to get someone interested enough to even take a look under the hood.

The visual is only the surface value - the least important measure of who a person is.

True enough but first impressions are how people look and dress and I was told good first impressions were important.

Craigslist

I do both Ebay and Craigslist but Craigslist is quick simple and if you are buying you get to see the product and test it before buying. Ebay you have to factor in shipping, brokerage and duties if it come from the US .... I perfer to do Craigslist where possible, ebay if I can not find it locally

I have put V on my series recording so I will see how that turns out.

paintball game or lazertag
Posted: 11/4/2009 10:28:28 AM
Talking about adrenanalin rush .... I was as tired sneaking around slowly through the forest as I would have been running a mile. Paintballs do leave quite a welt when you are hit though.

And better equipment does help like face masks that do not fog up when you have dug in waiting for the enemy. But this is no different than real war when one side has better weponary.

Paintball is way more fun mainly because your really don't wanna get hit. It actually stings a bit so you end up rolling around on the ground and crawling.

Yea but like the poster above says, it does get expensive if you go crazy firing.

5 to 1 ratio of women to men in Vancouver
Posted: 10/26/2009 11:07:56 AM
If there are 5 women to every guy in Vancouver someone has taken my share

Re: the comment on people in BC being more fit is because we get better weather out here than ab. If you look at the world as a whole any place that has hot weather people are generally fitter and thinner. For example you look at the spanish in South America and the people of Florida compared to those in inlands southern states. Now thinking about it maybe places that have a lot of beaches make the difference.

Hmm whats wrong with me ? I PAY and PUT OUT.......

That would just be awkward a guy would feel like he was being bought

All kidding aside when the amount is so little a guy should just pay. If it was a dinner maybe he pays the dinner she catches the movie.

Otherwise a guy could go broke dating.

Computer Gurus?
Posted: 9/26/2009 9:57:11 AM
Well after I try the restore and if that does not fix the problem I usually run my tech disc to see if I have bad ram or cpu but since you are not close for me to help you out there I would reinstall windows. Just reinstall windows and your game and see how things go ........ if it works start loading programs as you need them untill your system crashes again. Could be bad HD with bad sector "happened with my work computer" or bad ram. I know on my home computer I had to reset my cpu because the thermal paste broke down.

good luck

I can see how this helps business streamline accounting but I just read an article in the paper about how this will effect the home rental market. Right now if you have rental property you do not pay tax on anything to do with repairs to the property but when the new HST comes into play the renter now has to increase his rents to make up for the 7%

I do not have a problem paying a little more tax to help reduce our debt but what I have a problem with is when we pay more tax and the gov't gives themselves a raise or spend that money unwisely.

What we have to do is put the extra money into our national debt.

The point is that you (as a business) are NOT paying GST or HST. You account for it all separately, add up GST collected and subtract GST paid then mail the difference to the government once every year or quarter or month. In between remittances you have paid GST/HST for your expenses but you've also collected more than that on your sales. What you describe with markup is the way things work with PST. GST/HST, on the other hand, takes all the sales tax accounting off of your books[quote/]

I understand about the GST it is the additional 7% (PST) that I am talking about that is getting charged everytime a product changes hands before it gets to the consumer. With the HST (in my mind anyways) everytime someone purchases the product to resell his "cost of goods" is up 7% (PST portion of the HST) more than it would have been the way we do things now. From mfg to consumer some products change hands more than 3 times before reaching the consumer.

Maybe more to the point, how much we resell goods/services for usually has a whole lot more to do with market(ing) factors than any percentage markup formulas

I must be really stupid because I still can not see how this is good for us and how much we pay for product does factor on what we resell it for. Thats why we have to calculate cost of goods plus mark up.

This is what I was getting at as a mfg I buy $100 worth of material and pay the extra 7% on so now it costs me $107 of material. I mark it up say 35% so I sell the finished product to the distributor for $144.45. He pays $144.45 plus the extra 7% and marks it up again 35% so he sells it to the retailer for $208.66. The retailer now pay pays the $208.66 plus the extra 7% and adds his 35% and the consumer pays 301.41.

The way we do it now I buy $100.00 worth of materail pay no pst (the 7%) mark it up 35% and sell it to the distributor for $135.00. Since he is purchasing for resale he is not paying pst so when he marks it up 35% he is selling it to the retailer for $182.25. The retailer then marks it up 35% and the consumer pays 246.04.

This is going through only 1 distributor when in actual fact goods go through multiple distributors before the consumer.

Is this not right?
