Why do women lack initiative?
Posted: 10/31/2007 5:29:06 AM
I agree with Chello.

And I for one have had more than my fair share of men who just sit opposite me with that 'glazed donut' look on their faces waiting for me to carry the conversation. Sorry, but I can't do it. So women don't have the monopoly on 'boring, unsociable, thick as a plank, twats'.

Some people are simply shy or inarticulate. Some will say something if they feel there is something important to say. Not everyone babbles just for the sake of having something constantly being said or because silence is something they feel the need to avoid.

If the chemistry/connection thing is there, no words even have to be uttered. It's only when a silence feels uncomfortable or strained that you can be sure that it just isn't working (nope, no second date there)!

It's academic isn't it? Drop dead gorgeous men are as rare as hen's teeth (probably because they're all a celluloid depiction and aren't real ). And all the exceptionally attractive ones (a step down from DDG) that I do know are soooo married.

And yes, intelligence is downright sexy, but it's not enough on it's own. Oh god, and then there's the personality! Yep, single until I die

Graphic design/pre-press for a printing company.

Why? I enjoy it (I can be creative and excel at technical detail as well) and it's a work environment that allows me exist outside the square most of the time - love it!

Anybody else ever look at the photos of people that post here, and wonder why they are single.

Well, I know that I'm damn near perfect But if you visit the thread about 'dating horrors by astro sign' and read Goddess's input about Geminis you will discover that most men can't handle this multi faceted woman and worse, most don't satisfy her on all physical/mental/emotional levels.

Damn it's hard being me (what is wronggggggg with me????? - no, don't answer that in public!)

Hmmm, thanks Goddess. Maybe this should rather go into the 'What trait, defect or flaw...' thread

I'll never be contacted again and I've spent my whole life successfully hiding the truth (well, except for the maternal bit, that's not me at all).

Jokes hehehehehehe
Posted: 10/22/2007 4:03:54 AM
A woman's husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several months, yet she had stayed by his bedside every single day.

One day, he motioned for her to come nearer. She sat by him.

He whispered, eyes full of tears, 'You know what? You have been with me all through the bad times.

When I got fired, you were there to support me.

When my business failed, you were there.

When I got shot, you were by my side.

When we lost the house, you stayed right here.

When my health started failing, you were still by my side . . .

You know what?'

'What dear?' She gently asked, smiling as her heart began to fill with warmth.

'I think you're bad luck, f*ck off!'

Innate or learned?
Posted: 10/19/2007 3:12:29 AM
Hiya Spongy

Knowing just how imperfect I am, I would still be bitterly resentful of anyone who made me feel that I am not 'good enough' the way I am. That being the case, what earthly right do I have to try to iron out someone else's wrinkles? If you feel that the flaws are insuperable (ie. unlivewithable - that's just a 'me' word ) then don't go there. If they are acceptable, then do just that - accept them.

I often wonder if the desire to change others is simply born of our own frustration of ever finding that 'perfect' (non-existant) person; so the need to nag, mould and buff is almost irresistible in some . A world of perfect persons would be stultifying I feel.

If I wasn't so damned picky then given my current rate of success, simply enthusiastic and breathing should do it

(Sigh) Unfortunately it doesn't.

(Maybe I should start a 'Do you alienate people???" thread)

Enthusiasm, gorgeous smile, beautiful eyes and not being backward in coming forward (with a side order of intelligence and a wicked sense of humour).

Tobacco Patches- worked for anyone?
Posted: 10/12/2007 6:26:48 AM
Dave patches definitely worked for me. I stopped smoking in March last year. True, I fell off the wagon a couple of times when out drinking and having fun with friends, but those indiscretions never carried over to the next day and I haven't had any since the middle of December last year.

The patches helped with the cravings, but the actual 'giving up' - that has to come from within. OK, so no one would come near me for the first month or so (I was just slightly snappy tom ), but hey, it was all in a good cause.

Congratulations for getting this far and good luck!!!!
