Best song one liners/lyrics you love

"Sigh No More"

Serve God, love me and mend
This is not the end
Lived unbruised, we are friends
And I'm sorry
I'm sorry

Sigh no more, no more
One foot in sea, one on shore
My heart was never pure
You know me
You know me

But man is a giddy thing
Oh man is a giddy thing
Oh man is a giddy thing
Oh man is a giddy thing

Love; it will not betray you
Dismay or enslave you, it will set you free
Be more like the man you were made to be

There is a design, an alignment to cry
Of my heart to see,
The beauty of love as it was made to be

Love; it will not betray you
Dismay or enslave you, it will set you free
Be more like the man you were made to be

There is a design, an alignment to cry
Of my heart to see,
The beauty of love as it was made to be

Love; it will not betray you
Dismay or enslave you, it will set you free
Be more like the man you were made to be

And there is a design, an alignment to cry
Of my heart to see,
The beauty of love as it was made to be

Post Your Favorite Music Lyrics part 2
Posted: 9/13/2013 7:52:08 PM
God that was strange to see you again
Introduced by a friend of a friend
Smiled and said 'yes I think we've met before'
In that instant it started to pour,
Captured a taxi despite all the rain
We drove in silence across Pont Champlain
And all of the time you thought I was sad
I was trying to remember your name...

This scar is a fleck on my porcelain skin
Tried to reach deep but you couldn't get in
Now you're outside me
You see all the beauty
Repent all your sin

It's nothing but time and a face that you lose
I chose to feel it and you couldn't choose
I'll write you a postcard
I'll send you the news
From a house down the road from real love...

Live through this, and you won't look back...
Live through this, and you won't look back...
Live through this, and you won't look back...

There's one thing I want to say, so I'll be brave
You were what I wanted
I gave what I gave
I'm not sorry I met you
I'm not sorry it's over
I'm not sorry there's nothing to save

I'm not sorry there's nothing to save...

What music makes you feel the most intensely?

It would have to be live Jazz music for me. You know small little Jazz bar effect? Saw NIN outdoors a few years back, I must say it was pretty sweet.

Moon landing tapes?
Posted: 7/23/2009 6:11:51 AM
What is more is that people have actually been to the moon since the moon landing most notably Russia in '71 and '74 in the form of Luna 19 and Luna 22. These missions put satellites in orbit around the moon and were not for shortdurations, these mission lasted 388 days and 521 days respectively. Had they noticed anything suspect wouldn't they have told the world?

The next lunar orbiter currently scheduled for launch is Russia's Luna-Glob 1 expected to be launched in 2010. China's Chang'e 2 is expected to be launched in 2011. China is expected to land motorized rovers and collect samples of the moon in the future, and the Indian National Space agency, has announced the Chandrayaan program for Lunar exploration. The second mission Chandrayaan II plans to land a motorised rover by 2012.

It isn't like there is no activity having to do with the moon. Still how do you accidentally delete something like that?

Communication stops
Posted: 7/23/2009 6:05:26 AM
Yea as others have said don't take it personally, people have all kinds of things going on, and they are after all talking to other prospective dates as well. Women typically get a LOT more mail then men, my x showed me her account sometimes, and i mean... a LOT more. The more you can distance yourself from caring about it the more attractive you will be to the next girl anyhow.

Nietsche: Morality devoid of Divinity. (A thinking man's thread)
Posted: 7/22/2009 12:21:24 AM
He sure gets people emotional, let me just say a couple things quickly; Firstly about his ideology the other about his mental health and his writtings.

1) Nietzche was not a Nazi, he was a founder of existentialism, he thought anti-semites, were counterproductive towards humanity and the progress it yearned for.

2)He did not write anybooks while mad. All his writtings took place prior to 1888, his mental ilness began in 1889. While some have claimed many of his symptoms appearedd syphalitic, what is undoubtable is that in 1898 he had at least two strokes that left him partialy paralyzed. The only exception to this point would be Will to Power, which was a posthumous collection of his memoirs by his sister.

So to all those who want to use him as a lightning rod to talk about his "Mad Nazi" writtings please educate yourself somewhat before flapping your gills about someone you clearly have not read a single scrap of.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophy_of_Friedrich_Nietzsche#Nietzsche.27s_criticisms_of_anti-Semitism_and_nationalism

For he was passionatly against anti-semites and was quite sane through out all of his writting career. A rather interesting modern study suggests he may have actualy died from brain cancer.

Is intelligent design a scientific theory?
Posted: 7/21/2009 4:14:47 PM

Wouldn't you agree that it makes as much sense to keep the religion & science classes apart for the same reason?

Haha well yes i give you that obviously. More over what bothers me is that one is seen as an alternative to the other, namely because it was created as an alternative. The flying spaghetti monster here comes to mind here. (praise his wheys)

As an alternative Intelligent design misses the point.

God smiles back in every dinosaur bone, people who after hundreds of years are still trying to re-bury dinosaur bones for fear of the upset of the literal translation of their holy book are... i think, rather missing the point in the value of both sides of either experience.

Nietsche: Morality devoid of Divinity. (A thinking man's thread)
Posted: 7/21/2009 4:06:58 PM
That the Nazis ripped off so much of their imagery from him is one of the saddest footnotes of history. Nietzsche was vitriolic to the Anti-Semites of his age, many people listen to his criticisms of corrupt moral structures of the day without seeming to ever read about his desperate need to create some kind of new moral structure. It is important to consider that he is not of the opinion that God never was, more that religion in the context of his day had killed the value inherent in that idea, and that a new morality was needed (read his work Beyond Good and Evil). A morality structure that took an individuals perspective as the starting point for philosophicaly yearning towards the good that is inherent in all people.

People are going to come out now and not read that and claim he was a Nazi again, because they are retarded and don't know their fingertips from their asses, but when they say it they will be dead wrong, and furthermore a representation of the lazy evil in bigotry he so detested as counter-evolutionary in life.

Is intelligent design a scientific theory?
Posted: 7/20/2009 9:47:46 PM
I don't see why a spiritual truth can't be mentioned offhand in a science class as long as it doesn't disturb the truth at hand.

This idea that faith and science are hostile to each other is one born of extremism.

Things that yearn towards extremes revert to their opposites.

No, it cannot be falsified, ergo not a science.

Not to say it is incapable of creating valuable truths, just not scientific ones. Spiritual truths do not equal scientific truths and vise versa. This does not mean they need contradict each other either. Spiritual truths do not need to follow scientific method to be true.

Time
Posted: 7/20/2009 8:59:19 PM
What is disprovable as not time is not the same as what your perception of time as an animal is obviously, though I see your point. We speak of wasting time, time flying by, and I am sure other witty examples of aphorisms time related could be thought up. But according to science as far as we know (3 of the 4 universal forces accounted for) it is my understanding that the actual flexibility of time should be so remotely tiny as to be imperceptible to humans except at speeds approaching the speed of light.

My favorite is thus spoke Zarathustra for some reason, but you have to love genealogy of morals...

I feel for me much of his work is focused towards a deep love and sympathy for the human condition, with a resounding affirmation that there is the potential for a progress for us all should we chose to seek it.

And at the same time i want to suggest that though he criticizes the idea of an objective truth there is also a distinct yearning to find one.

I find it so touching the way he lost his mind in the end, over a man beating a horse; in Zarathustra near the end there is this great picture drawn of man moving forward into the future in peace with all the creatures of the earth and sky.

It is a pity and an abuse of his intent and his rich symbolism, that so many have transformed his works into something devoid of morality, it is a mistake to get lost in the subjectivism of morality, and worse to use his work to do so; especially when really his criticism is with the lack of morality in structures that purport to be authorities of such matters.

Evolution.
Posted: 7/20/2009 8:03:58 AM
The funny thing is that neither has to be wrong, they are two different kinds of truth, there is no reason why people should assume they contradict each other. Evolution is the explanation of the vast eons past based on the scraps left for us by mother nature, Creationism is the explanation of spiritual truths left by scraps of paper left for us by churches. Faith and science each produce different kinds of truth with different kinds of uses, plenty of scientists are religious and being religious certainly does not preclude a scientific world view. Unless your a fanatic of either belief paradigm.

Of course! Not that they cheat more then short guys, but they have more options to cheat, even if all short and tall men have an equaly percentage of douchebags, the tall men douchbags automaticaly are qualified for a larger number of women, seeing as almost every woman desires a taller male partner.

Why Do girls go for Bad Boys
Posted: 7/19/2009 10:40:31 PM
It isn’t so much that girls go for bad boys, it is that boys with girl experience, eventually get callous, Women teach us to be mean.

...there is that line to that song "the more i treat you bad the more it makes you want to stay..."

That and having broken up with girls who called me both “too nice” and “too mean” which do you think feels better, and makes it easier to leave?

Moon landing tapes?
Posted: 7/18/2009 7:15:38 PM
The most frightening conspiracy theory is that there is no over arching super world order playing puppets with political actors, that stupid stuff just happens, and structures of power randomly bumble into the future like blind children with no sense of direction.

I think people take comfort in the idea that somewhere someone is controlling things, it lends to a sense of security.

I am friends with most of the ex's, maybe i am just that strange guy that really doesn't cringe at the "lets be friends" thing. Mind you that kinda of thing almost never works, yet still, i think while some people are no doubt thinking of sex in recontacting, i am quite sure a lot of people just feel the need to maintain some kind of contact with a person with whom they were at a time very close.

It is ironic to me that this same kind of mistake is actually proof that we undoubtedly went to the moon; because if something as ridiculous as this happened accidentally then how on earth could a massive cover up be orchestrated without people some how eventually finding out.

"And DO you read it? "

read what?

/jokes

Kinda just depends... mental note must update photo of self in three piece suit.

People will read into your pictures (and words occasionally) based on their own level of involvement in this process. I firmly believe people find what they are looking for, some pictures there really just is nothing to decipher, no convoluted scheme, just you know, "here are my boobies" or what not.

I once heard someone clever say that

Moon landing tapes?
Posted: 7/18/2009 7:23:47 AM
Okay i really think we went to the moon, for sure we did, if only for the fact that so many people where involved if something strange went on there, someone would have spilt the beans about it by now.

That said, what with tapes being re doctored and so forth lately I hear the original tapes where deleted, and this is nasa saying they deleted them. Check it out on yahoo news today.

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/reuters/090717/science/science_us_nasa_tapes_5

SO isn't that just kind of a little bit strange? I mean shortly they are sending up a satellite that will be able to actually see the landing spot, and i am sure the conspiracy nuts will find away to keep on believing what ever they want... and yet why would tapes of such a historical nature be "accidentaly deleted"?

Not saying we didn't go, just saying, hmnm interesting, i wonder what that is about exactly...? if anything.

I found some great details that are well sourced at wikipedia in relation to the US housing bubble. In particular this link compares on a graph the case shiller home price index for the 90's correction with the current blood in the water. I found the difference rather startling and thus thought i would share.

Something about this graph tells me it has not hit bottom yet.

Blue eyes...
Posted: 2/18/2009 5:38:20 AM
Pfft animals other then humans have blue eyes, how can you say it is only a recent human mutation.

As to the Scandinavian invasion question... the Sami, Laplanders, and what not...

There actually isn't real strong historical details about where blond hair, red hair green eyes blue eyes and so forth really started. And while DNA testing is revealing some interesting facts it isn't the kind of thing that in many ways we expected. Nor does it really back up established (and frankly rather dated) "racial" migration theories. The ojibwai language has clear Eropeaian roots, while that was debated for some time, it has largely died down you will notice since finding 9300 year old Caucasoid skeletons in Kennewick, Washington, USA.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kennewick_man

Most of the stuff of science we refer to in racial migration theories i would put to you is a hodgepodge of cultural folkways loosely based outdated science that hasn't had any real strong paradigm thrust up in challenge only due to weak scientific details.

Celts have red hair green eyes, Nords have blond hair blue eyes, Really that is all the folk ways tell us about evolution. I imagine in the distant past such generalizations where as inaccurate as they were in world war 2 germany.

Blonds out of germany indeed!

I dunno the more i look about these days the more it seems the sky is falling. Banks galore rolling over, blue chip stocks tin cup in hand demanding billions to keep afloat. Stock markets crashing and with them peoples pention funds. The number of mortgages underwater (owing more then present value) only exceeded by number of foreclosures.

Do i even need to cite specific examples? Just pick up a local newspaper. I purposely intend this thread to be more about peoples thoughts a feelings in relation to the recent economic downturn then something related purely to a fact shouting match.

What are your thoughts; are matters financial going to get;

If a player plays a player are they playing with you or are they playing with themselves?

Different = sexy, more sex = more differences.

Thus the profusion and differentiation of humans via ev0lution.

Real Estate bubble
Posted: 2/14/2009 7:26:30 AM
I began this post some years ago now, by asking

"Is the unprecedented rise in the price of real-estate in the process of bursting?"

... it seems obvious that it has, and i think now the question is more on of how much damage is it going to do? How far reaching will it be, and what parts of the wold (if any) will be spared?

So i take the time now to ask,
Is this thing about to turn around?
Have we seen the deepest drops?
Should people really have seen this coming years ago?

When the chants have cycled
How can I go wrong?
There will be no Eve for Adam
If your apples have gone, gone, gone gone.

I need
A brand new skin
Incarnated debts
Incarcerated when
the deeds are left to purchase.

If you could see where I've been,
you'ld touch the hand that's touchin' sin.
Entity ingredient
A mass of blackened steps begins.

Cycle is filled;
blanket of clots.
Takin' everything I've got.
Please let me in, in, in, in.

I need
A brand new skin
Incarnated debts
Incarcerated when
the deeds are left to purchase.

If you could see where I've been,
You'ld touch the hand that's touchin' sin.
Entity ingredient
A mass of blackened steps begins.

Follow me tonight
Follow me to oblivion
Follow me tonight
Follow me to oblivion

If you could see where I've been,
you'ld touch the hand that's touchin' sin.
Entity ingredient
A mass of blackened steps begins.

I seem to hide
in metal plates
held together. Alone don't wait.
Hide with me,
Identity
until we've passed due date.

Can't spot through the lens
to bleed in through your santuary.
Intention accident
will lead him through your santuary.

(repeat several times to end)
