Hope to maybe make it there..
I've been to this location before and enjoyed the atmosphere and met some new people.

Hope to see you all there..

Cool Concerts that were a part of your life.
Posted: 2/18/2010 11:42:55 AM
I got my first car when I was 15 because we were "allowed" to drive by ourselves
in Miami, FLORIDA back then..let's see..that was the year..hmm...(doing the math..let me think for a minute...my MIND has left school a LONG time ago..lol)...
it was 1976.....so I used to frequent the Hollywood Sportatorium as they called it back then...of course, I have NO IDEA what they call it now...or if it even exists.

I saw BILLY JOEL in concert a few times...and at The Orange Bowl..his River of Dreams concert was amazing. I saw STYXX, FOREIGNER and KANSAS there as well as in OHIO where I attended college.

I have seen most recently...RICK SPRINGFIELD at The Hardrock WITH opening act of EDDIE MONEY AND PATTI SMYTHE and BILLY JOEL again...he is just so amazing in concert. I saw CAROLE KING as well...she was just amazing as well.

My mind seems to escape me on a lot of concerts as ..ahem..I WAS (and the operative word here is WAS) a child of the 70's.....but I recall seeing "WET WILLIE" in concert...in ALABAMA...but if you asked me what they sang now..I HAVE NO CLUE..lol...
thank goodness for GOOGLE.

Anyway...fun times were had..oh YEAH! I saw the group AMERICA once in MIAMI..and also...uhm...FIREFALL when I was younger too..GREAT music back then...

saw GEORGE BENSON a few times in Ft. Lauderdale..at The Sunrise Musical Center and
also saw GEORGE CARLIN(but NOT a musical concert, of course), and LITTLE RIVER BAND, STEELY DAN....KARLA BONOFF there too ...as well as JUDY COLLINS.
Oh...almost forgot about the concerts at the racetrack...Gulfstream Park....
saw DAVE MASON....REO SPEEDWAGON and ALSO saw REO SPEEDWAGON, 38 SPECIAL and STYYX at the West Palm Beach concert place which name escapes me currently...but that was a BLAST.
Oops..how could I forget about seeing CHER in concert...with all the costume changes..even in the "nose bleed" seats...she was amazing in concert!!!

I guess you could say I have a diverse genre of music that I enjoy.

Anxious to hear what some others have to say about the concerts that they attended.
Thanks for THIS topic...good one to refresh our "worn out" pars of our brains from long ago stored memories. LOL

Insatiable and Angry
Posted: 12/24/2009 10:26:32 PM

No, won't happen. The person I was in this type of relationship with insisted HE WAS RIGHT, no reason to talk anything out, just the was it was. I stupidly banged my head against that unyielding wall for FAR TOO LONG! I'd advise anyone to get the heck out of Dodge. And YES, IT WAS CONTROLLING AND MANIPULATIVE AND I'LL NEVER WALK DOWN THAT ROAD AGAIN.

This has absolutely nothing to do with gender, but with a person WHO IS NOT HAPPY WITH HIMSELF/HERSELF AND WANTS THEIR PARTNER TO BE MISERABLE TOO!

Glad to be gone from all of that -- thinking back on it makes me VERY HAPPY TO BE ME NOW!

I TOTALLY AGREE with the poster that posted this response...and emphasized the points in CAPS that I found to hit home with me personally!

sigh...2010 is ALMOST here.....trying to be optimistic that it will be a better year and a better time NOT just for me, but for ALL.

How do you feel about this?
Posted: 11/23/2009 8:37:34 PM
Hi neighbor...(coincidentally,I live in Boca Raton, Fla too...)

Anyway...let me get this straight. He contacted YOU first?
He sent you an email and then you responded?
What was the first letter like? Did he address anything with you directly or did he just say the usual.."hello" and cordial small talk?

I know what you mean about asking questions. In my case, they don't seem to answer mine and ask me a bunch of questions..most ask.."what part of Boca do you live in?"
Boring...

Seriously though, if you are interested in getting to know this guy..what have you got to lose? Tell HIM things that you think he might like to know about YOU and see how he responds.

On the other hand, this man MIGHT be talking to a few women on here and found one that he is a bit more interested in. Maybe he is not putting "all his eggs in one basket" and maybe you shouldn't either.

By the way..what part of Boca do you live in ? LOL

Sorry..just kidding...I couldn't resist..

Did I catch him before he tried to use me for sex or did I jump the gun to fast???
Posted: 11/23/2009 8:17:58 PM
I don't have any respect for a man who jumps right into speaking about sexual and graphic issues when not knowing what kind of person you are first. That to me, is certainly NOT a gentleman.

That to me is a "red flag" that they view you as simply a sexual object or are only interested in this topic and nothing more.

Once you get to know one another, of course, intimate discussions will take place, but hopefully in a more dignified manner and a conversation where you will BOTH be comfortable in discussing like adults.

It is up to you, but when a man starts to speak to me about things that are inappropriate right from the "get go", I will either tell him that it is inappropriate or I will end the
conversation immediately.

That's my two cents on this.

Good luck to you..

^^^^^THAT was hysterical..BTW!

I would say it was about equal to telling a man that you love him and,
his response is: "That's nice!"

It doesn't feel good, but you have to accept that they don't return the affection!

Debi,
Sounds like a FUN party...

but could you please give directions for those coming from the north, like the Boca Raton area or even more north?

I saw what the name of the place is from people posting it, but can't find a website for them.

Anyone know if there is a website for this place to get more information about them?

It will be good to see those that I already know and new ones as well.

Thanks Debi for planning it.
It will be good to hear from you and see you too!!!

sausage recipies
Posted: 10/23/2009 1:00:39 PM
Here is my "tried and true" sausage recipe with a bit of a "secret ingredient" that I will share with ALL.

Make sure the rack of your oven is lowered and Preheat the oven to 350*.
I take a large aluminum pan and spray the bottom with some non-stick spray.(Makes for easier clean up.) I place it on a cookie sheet because by the time I combine all of the ingredients, the aluminum pan gets rather heavy and, I learned the HARD WAY when I dropped an entire one all over the floor and myself when putting into the hot oven.

Okay, peel and slice into rings 2-3 large sweet or any type of onion preferred. Wash, scrub and cube (I leave on the skin to keep the potato from getting mushy) 3 large potatoes, any type preferred. Usually calls for Red Bliss, but I use whatever I have in the house at the time of cooking. 2-3 washed and sliced into rings (seeds and top removed) of Cubanelle peppers. You may use any type of peppers if you prefer your dish spicier. I like mine to be mild. Fresh garlic cloves peeled and left whole. I find it easier to buy the ones already peeled and left whole in the refrigerated produce section of your store. I sprinkle on Herb d' Provence, Montreal Steak Seasoning, Dill Weed and Paprika. (of course, you can use whatever seasonings you prefer.) Mix together. I then take about 1/2 to 3/4 of that "secret ingredient" of mine. ORANGE JUICE and pour all over. I mix everything together. Then I take Sweet Italian Sausage (but if you prefer spicier, again, your choice, by all means do so.) I usually use about 2 packages of links and slice each one carefully (leave the casing on) into thirds or fourths. I place all of the cut up sausage on top of the veggies. I sprinkle on a little more Montreal Steak Seasoning, Dill Weed and Paprika and then drizzle some EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) on top. I then cover with aluminum foil and place on the lower rack of that preheated 350* oven. I set the timer for an hour. I can usually smell the sausage dish cooking and will go check and stir usually after about 30 minutes. I like to uncover the dish to get the sausage browned more and then turn the sausage over to get the other side browned. I also love my onions and veggies to be carmelized; especially the garlic. Use your own judgement as to how brown you like your sausage.
I usually like to serve this in a bowl with some fresh crusty bread from the bakery (I don't make my own bread... ) and use it to mop up some of the delicious juices that have cooked in the bottom of the dish. This dish also freezes very well and can be nuked or reheated in the oven in a casserole dish in individual portions.
Hope you all will try and Enjoy!!!!
I recommend a nice dark ale or rich full-bodied red wine of your choice with this dish!

Let's talk turkey......and stuff(ing).
Posted: 10/21/2009 2:58:02 PM
Thanks Rax for your suggestion.
I actually did a bit of research and found a different way to prepare them.

Take some prepared Pesto sauce (unless you are brave and have time to make homemade) and spread all over the turkey tenderloins.

Place sliced potatoes around the tenderloins, salt and pepper the potatoes and drizzle a bit of olive oil too.

Bake at 400* until potatoes are fork-tender.

Sounds like a nice dish to try. What do you think?

I KNOW we are talking "turkey.....and stuff(ing)...

so I figured my TURKEY TENDERLOINS fit right in.

I have a couple of them defrosted for dinner tonight. They aren't thick and are obviously skinless and boneless.

Anyone have an idea on how to prepare them and/or what to marinate them in?

Any suggestions or recipes would be very much appreciated.

Thank you,

your pics were voted off by the user base, since they were not "visible" face shots of you. go get some compliant pics, and you'll have no problems.

I have ALWAYS had a visible face/head shot of me so I am NOT sure why this is happening as I didn't receive any indication or email regarding it.

Is there some modifications going on with respect to uploading of pictures on POF?

An odd experience occurred with my uploading of pictures today as well.
I always keep my pictures current and, I know that I am allowed to have 8 pictures on my profile. I KNOW the rules of having a full face shot in the main picture and no nudity and all that, which I comply with.

I went to upload a new picture today and found that I could not do so. I was not given any warning or email that stated that my uploading of pictures were prohibited, so I don't know what is going on.

Can a MODERATOR please assist me on this as I would like to not only know what is going on if this is a glitch with POF or my profile and if I can update my picture???

Thank you in advance,

Hello.
I just went to put an updated picture on my profile, removed one so that I could replace it with another, but for some reason, the browse/upload box is gone.
I have not done anything wrong and have not received any mail of such from any moderator so what is the problem?

Does anyone know if the site is being re-vamped or is there a problem with the images section?

Any help is appreciated.

What Makes you Laugh ?
Posted: 10/9/2009 11:42:53 AM
It doesn't really take much to make me laugh. It could be a joke that someone says, something funny on a sitcom that I watch (I STILL love and laugh at the re-runs of M*A*S*H and Will and Grace) and of course, like you mentioned, laughing with friends.

Something that ALWAYS cracks my kids and I up is when we think about the time I went through a car wash. The guy was about to use a mop on my windshield that had vinegar all over it and, I rolled down the window to tell them to do a really good job and got a mop in my face. LOL. Even today, we STILL laugh hysterically about it until our sides hurt and tears are streaming down our faces.

Like I said, it doesn't take MUCH. LOL

Cornbread

Hey vbxtc and Smiling Salmon....I've actually seen a few cast iron supplies at the local Good Will Store on the shelf and was thinking of buying the cast iron pan as I don't have one.

All of your recipe ideas for corn bread sound delish!!! I will try the Martha White brand the next time I go to the store. I don't often whip up a batch of cornbread or corn muffins. It's a once-in-awhile thing.

Cornbread
Posted: 10/7/2009 8:24:30 PM
Personally, I don't own a cast iron skillet. I suppose I should get one?

So, I take the "easy peasy" way out and buy the Jiffy cornbread mix and follow the directions with one added addition; a small can of sweet corn kernals, drained.
I find it makes it moister and tastier. I make it in a muffin tin.
I like them hot out of the oven with a little butter and/or honey on them.

Yummy!!! OH...so good.

Oyster season is coming.. How do you like them?
Posted: 10/6/2009 2:12:33 PM
I LOVE oysters too, but only if they are rinsed if I am eating them off the half shell. (a bit of lemon squeezed on them and just a touch of that red sauce (not the hot stuff), but apparently I'm NOT allowed to spell it out here..LOL

If they are baked, I LOVE Oysters Rockefeller (with the spinach and the cheese) or Oysters Casino, which I believe is with butter, garlic and real chopped bacon on them.

Thanks for bringing this up OP.

Now, I'll be thinking of which way to eat my oysters...LOL

Sweet potatoes and ????????
Posted: 9/30/2009 4:33:54 PM
Yum! I love sweet potatoes or yams.
My mom's recipe is to take sweet potatoes (she buys the can of Bruce's yams in syrup), but I am SURE you could boil fresh sweet potatoes or yams in water until soft. Take off peel and then mash in the same pot. Add 1/2 to stick of sweet, unsalted butter, can of crushed pineapple in its own juice, chopped pecans and dark brown sugar to taste. Add one raw egg and beat in. Mix all together thoroughly, place in casserole dish and put in 350 * oven until you see the casserole contents bubbling. (I'd say about 30 minutes). Truthfully, I don't know the significance of the beaten raw egg as I've made this recipe without the egg and, it was tasty.
If you like to, add the minature marshmellows on top and put under broiler until they are melted and toasty looking.

Enjoy....~~Beth~~
P. S. I DO love sweet potato fries too...just cut into long strips (keep skin on if you like, but scrub clean with brush first before cutting into strips) and then place on cookie sheet with some type of canola, olive or vegetable oil drizzled on them. Bake at 425 until crisp and then sprinkle with coarse sea salt while hot out of the oven. Yummy!!!

anolon cookware
Posted: 9/19/2009 9:29:32 PM
When I was in my early twenties, my cousin was getting married and wanted me to go with her to the department store (then known as Burdines) for a Wedding event where there were raffles for various bridal gifts; including, a full set of Caphalon cookware.
Even though I was there as her guest, I put my tickets in the various vendors. When my name was called, I was shocked and, my cousin quickly gave me her engagement ring on my finger to wear as I went up to claim the gift of the full set of Caphalon.

To this day, 2009, (AND I am 48 currently), I am STILL cooking in my set of Caphalon. I have NEVER had an issue with them and, no pieces of ANYTHING is coming off of the pots or pans.
I TRULY believe that the set of cookware will outlast me, my children and my children's children.

I believe it is THAT good.
Just my two cents worth.....~~Beth~~

P. S. If you have a store called, "Bed, Bath and Beyond" in your neck of the woods, they carry it and, you can always use the coupons that are mailed out frequently for 20% off of anything in the store, with exceptions, but definitely worth looking into.
Good luck in your decision, whatever it is.

Rosh HaShanah meal
Posted: 9/17/2009 10:20:27 PM
Hey SS..you're in luck! I found the recipe that my sister sent to my Mom and, this is what my Mom makes now for the holidays when she prepares a brisket:

INGREDIENTS:

4-5 pound brisket
Kosher salt and pepper
Flour
1 jar of chili sauce
1 6 oz. jar jelly - apricot or grape
1 cup Kosher wine (get the Blackberry one)
4 large sweet onions sliced
Large bag of dried mixed fruit (also add dried plums and dried apricots, bag of each)

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 325*. Sear brisket for four minutes on each side in a large skillet. Sprinkle with the salt and the pepper. Lock in juices and remove from heat.
Place brisket in a floured large oven bag. Mix chili sauce, jelly and wine in a large bowl and pour over the brisket. Add the sliced onions and dried fruit. Seal the bag and cut several slashes in the top of the bag. Cook brisket for 3+ hours until fork tender.

Hope you will try this one SS. I have tried it and have gotten rave reviews. I will be eating it Friday night, as well. L'Shana Tova to you and yours.

Rosh HaShanah meal
Posted: 9/17/2009 12:48:07 PM
Hey SS.....

Here is a brisket recipe "tried and true" that I make. Try it, you MIGHT just like it.
I had posted it this exact way on Naughtical's cookin' thread.
I'm also searching for the one that my sister sent to my Mom and was then passed down to me. I think you might even prefer THAT one, so I will post it as soon as it is found. You can always make it for Yom Kippur or for any other time as well.

Here is what I posted:

Okay..which leads me to the lovely 4.31 lb brisket (first cut, of course) that I made last night with Lipton onion soup mix (1 pkg), and a can of whole berries cranberry sauce. ( I used a Publix brand, but Ocean Spray or other brand is fine too) Mixed this together and shmeared it all over the brisket, added a touch of water..not much as this makes a fine amount of gravy. I covered with foil tightly in an aluminum pan and cooked for 1 1/2 hours at 350* and then checked it(add more water if it looks like it needs it and stir) and cooked for another 1 1/2 hours at the same temperature..tightly sealed. Served that with some rice and some broccoli florets. Trimmed the fat off of it first, of course and then stored the leftovers for which tonight, I took slices of the brisket, covered with KC Materpiece BBQ sauce and heated it up in the oven until heated through. Then cut some nice soft challah rolls, put the meat on it and VOILA...nice BBQ beef sandwiches with some corn on the cob, butter and salt on the side. I took the leftover rice from last night and mixed it into a package of vanilla pudding that had been whisked with 2 cups of very, very, very, (did I say VERY enough??? LOL) COLD milk and then put in little ramekin dishes covered with saran wrap...chilling in the fridge as we speak. Yummy. I guess I will have to wait until tomorrow. NOW...if I could only figure out what to do with the last piece of brisket.....ahhhh...I thought I would be finished with it. I guess I will save it with some avocado and some type of tahini spread or something in a whole-wheat wrap for lunch one day. Okay...gotta get creative....right?

Hope you like the idea, although only two ingredients. Should be "easy peasy" and no marinating involved. (so can be made at the last minute if necessary)

I started to cry when he was leaving.
Posted: 9/16/2009 11:01:29 PM
I am just REALLY surprised that you would let a man who you have never met, YET only communicated with for FIVE WEEKS be allowed to STAY in your home.
I DON'T CARE what kind of repor or connection you may have had, you are a grown woman who should KNOW better than to let someone into your home without getting to know them first.
As far as the three hours away living arrangements, I am surprised as well that you would even entertain such an idea. If you can't find someone to date and go out with in your 'own backyard", there has to be something wrong there.
A man that is willing to drive three hours so that he can stay in your home, sounds desperate in MY opinion and looking for a "weekend fling" with someone that was vulnerable to his "spell". You unfortunately, played right into his hands, so to speak.

I am sorry for your loss of your fiance, but being a mother (as you have on your profile and I am one myself), whether or NOT your children were there during the weekend with you, you should consider your "safety" first and that of your children who could potentially "lose" their mother to some possible rapist/murderer. Did you even consider this possibility??? Look at what is going on in the world in the news. It can happen to ANY of us when we let our guard down for the sake of a potential relationship and a chance for love in our lives.

Move on and be wise in your future choices. THINK BEFORE YOU ACT!!!

I wish you good luck in any case!!!

Smiling Salmon: Although I personally DON'T smoke, I thought I would tell you what I DO know about these electronic cigs or if you wish, the next time I am at the mall, I will find out more for you. (Yes, I have seen them here in FLORIDA at our shopping malls in kiosks) and, I DO go to the indoor flea market from time to time, so I can find out for you there as well.
What I DO know, is that I believe it comes with two packages of refills in your choice of flavors or scents. A new made friend told me that a friend of hers sells them at the mall near HER and, that if I were to get it from her, give HER name as a referral so that she could get a FREE refill. I was going to get it for a friend for her birthday to help her quit smoking. Plus, in restaurants, airplanes and other non-smoking places, she would be able to "take a drag" so to speak without being told that she wasn't able to do that. She sort of liked that idea, but wasn't all that keen on ending her fixation with smoking.
I don't know how much the refills are, but I will find out for you or you can always google it if you would like to.

Hope that helps, but I am in agreement with what one poster stated about either choose to smoke or quit. Why have something that is just going to make it that much harder to quit altogether if that is your ultimate goal.

My two cents...~~Beth~~

P. S. Happy (belated) Birthday On Sept. 1st Smiling Salmon!!!!!

Plentyoffish Music using IMEEM.com - How To Use
Posted: 9/7/2009 12:45:24 PM

Beth, Imeem underwent an upgrade a few weeks ago and some things have changed.

What are the changes? And also...
HOW DO I GET THE CODE NOW? That is what my issue is. I can't find the code to cut and paste after I've created a playlist or even the ones that I have saved on Imeem that are on my playlist. How do I do this? For example, I have a playlist saved of "Beth's Songs"....I have double clicked on it, but I get a box that comes up asking me to buy it now. Where is the code to put on my POF profile?

Thank you...

I PUT THIS POST ON ANOTHER THREAD AND WAS RE-DIRECTED TO THIS THREAD WHICH DOESN'T SEEM TO ANSWER MY QUESTION. CAN YOU PLEASE READ THIS AND HELP ME WITH MY ISSUE. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE MODERATORS.

Maybe she's referring to having to go to the new 'sign up now' policy in order to be able to embedd codes?

What sign up policy? I'm already signed up on Imeem....are you talking about paying for something or a cost?
All I know is that after I click on the Imeem part on my POF profile, I get Imeem. I sign in. I create a NEW playlist, drop and drag the song that I want in it and then, I can't seem to get the code. It ISN'T underneath the created song list ...I used to double click on it and, I would get the code, but now it is telling me to download it or buy it.
How do you get songs now to update and/or change on your profile?

Thanks..

celibacy in late life
Posted: 9/1/2009 4:37:32 PM
I don't know if you can state it as, "celibacy in late life" as I'm just 48, but I KNOW that I'm in the "celibacy state" for almost a year now.

I agree with most that stated that in simple terms, they aren't just looking for the proverbial "roll in the hay"....hence, why I am remaining celibate until I find someone that I am interested in and feel worthy of my chastity...if you can call it that.

In the meantime, I'm just enjoying my life and living it the way I want to for now.

What would you do if you found $20?
Posted: 8/31/2009 3:38:44 PM
Hallie:

I found the Gnarly Head Cab and bought a bottle, but as yet have not tried it.
I'll let you know what I think when I do.

Tonight ISN'T going to be the night...I think tomorrow with the country-style ribs as I have to marinate them overnight with all the seasonings that Charon recommended on another thread since I could ONLY find fresh mint leaves instead of dried ones.

Anyway....I enjoy FINE wines; especially red, but a friend gave me a bottle of Pinot Grigio that is fantastic. She had bought a case directly from their website as it isn't found in stores, apparently.

BTW....I found two crumpled up $5.00 bills in one of my jeans pockets yesterday Hallie. It wasn't a $20, but it SURE was something.
"Someone" up there likes me....LOL

READ THIS IF YOU NEED TO RENEW YOUR TAG OR DL SOON!!!
Posted: 8/27/2009 3:02:39 PM
Naughtical, thanks for this informative information. I guess I'm plum out of luck though...as my birthday WAS in June. I already paid for my vehicle registration on my car and was NOT given the option at the time to renew for TWO years, so I guess I got ripped-off with that one too.

I WILL, however, check my driver's license to see when THAT expires as I've had it for quite some time and, at least I'm a SAFE DRIVER....whoo whoo!!!!

At least I SHOULD be happy about something.

Try Gnarly Head Cab

Hey Hallie: THANKS...but tell me MORE about this wine.
Any particular vintage? Is it a Chilean wine or where does it come from?
I'd appreciate any facts or descriptions about it. I have a Publix close to home, so I will definitely check it out or, there IS a Crown Liquor store in the same shopping center as well. Fresh Market; however, is quite out of the way for me.

Hope things are going well for you. Drop me a line sometime.

Hi Hallie. Just wanted to say that I was LUCKY to find a $20.00 bill in my front pocket of my jean skirt. I thought of you and this thread when I found it. I was trying to remember why I had placed it there and where I was when I obtained it.
I couldn't remember, but it went into the billfold section of my wallet and, I'm $20.00 richer today....LOL
I guess I'll use it on a bottle of J. Lohr Cabernet since I'm partial to THAT wine now.

For the ladies - Soy and estrogen
Posted: 8/26/2009 2:01:58 PM

soybean oil is showing up in research as a major cause of weight gain because of the size of the molecule of fat. Our bodies don't know how to process this unnatural size for direct energy so it stores it as fat to be processed later- and later rarely comes. However, the once "bad" oils of coconut and palm are natural zero process oils - the don't need any additives or chemical reaction to become an oil- are exactly the oils our bodies know how to convert to energy before storing them. I feel very different and just plain better and more energetic when I eliminate soy and deliberately add coconut oils. It's just very difficult to eliminate soy.

OKAY...so I read this over and over and OVER to make sure I understood this comment. I, as some stated, am (or WAS .. until I read this thread and statement...NOW) a lover of TOFU and edamame (soy beans..raw) and have NOW read this thread and am ALARMED. I ALSO was drinking and encouraging my children to drink soy milk, vanilla soy, primarily, and NOW feel terrible that I was NOT MORE INFORMED....no fault of anyone but myself for NOT looking into it...but my question is this:
Does our body EVENTUALLY process the stored fat from diving into soy head on? And how long does it take, if so, after removing it from our diets???? Or does it just STAY put forever in our systems? How do we remove it?
Perhaps this is why my energy level seems almost non-existent on occasion and, I'm very sleepy a lot. DON'T get me wrong here...I've HAD annual physicals; including, having my thyroid checked and, ALL tests came out normal and no abnormalities were found; including, as well, NO peri- menopause for me as of yet (and I'm 48) and regular periods, etc. as if I were a teenager. (ugh...), but I would like to hear more feedback on this from those that have researched this more extensively.

Thanks for the responses...eager to hear.

Veggies on the grill
Posted: 8/25/2009 8:02:52 PM
Buy BIG, WHOLE portabello mushrooms, slice squash and zucchini into BIG slices and ThICK onion slices as well, as Red, Yellow or Green peppers into BIG slices too.
Marinate them in Paul Newman's Red Wine Vinegar Dressing overnight in a ziploc bag. Then, take all the veggies out of the ziploc bag and grill on a hot grill on a piece of foil or a special grill topper that is made for veggies/fish and other items that could fall through the grill.

Try it...You'll like it!!!

Favorite pets and pet stories
Posted: 8/22/2009 7:21:03 PM
Great thread Hal!!!

I had dogs growing up, but didn't have to really care for them other than pet them and love them as they had a "doggie door" to go out to our 1/2 acre lot to run around, etc. so since growing up and on my own, always had at least one cat.
One cat in particular, "Solomon" was my favorite and will ALWAYS be remembered.
I bought him for $20.00 in a pet store where he was looking very sad in a small cage in South Miami. I was told that he was "about 3 years old" by the vet checking his teeth as there were no records on him. His previous owner was an elderly woman that was the only owner and, I was also told he was a "show cat", although, I NEVER entered him in anything or tried. The first night that I had him in my condo in Kendall, he was scared, confused and knocked down one of my matching lamps in my bedroom, breaking it to bits. He ALMOST got pushed out the door that night.
Lucky for HIM AND ME, he got to stay.
I later moved to Coconut Grove to a 12th floor apartment and, Solomon ALWAYS loved to go out on the balcony. I NEVER worried about this as I THOUGHT he would just go in and out and that would be it. Boy, was I EVER wrong!!!! I was looking for him and looking for him and realized the balcony door was open. I looked outside and, there he was on the ledge around the corner. There were no railings or anything to prevent him from falling 12 floors down. He came RUNNING TO ME after he saw me and realized that I was calling for him. Needless to say, THAT was the LAST time he was ever on the balcony.
Another time, he was missing and, I heard "Meow's" coming from my walk-in closet in my bedroom. Apparently, Solomon discovered that he could jump on top of my refrigerator in the kitchen and get inside one of the light panels and walk inside my apartment walls and make it to my walk-in closet. DON'T ask what I went through to get him out of there. Whew....exhausting just to think about it.
Solomon was ALWAYS very good about "figuring people out." When my boyfriend at the time (who eventually became my husband) was over for the first time at my place, Solomon came into the living room, took two sniffs in the air, gave a dirty look at my boyfriend and then left the room. Ha Ha!!! I should have trusted Solomon's instinct and saved myself a LOT of heartache. Animals REALLY DO judge people.
Notice how people who are NOT cat lovers always seem to "attract" the cat to them and the cat will rub up against them and jump on them, etc? Well, Solomon MUST have known BETTER about my boyfriend at the time. I REALLY should have sensed the "red flag"....LOL.
Anway...I ended up having to put Solomon to sleep at the age of 20 years old. Yes, you heard right!!! He was very sick, not making it to the litterbox and, was going into renal failure. (Kidney, for those that don't know.) My doctor told me that I could prolong his life even further by giving him intravenous fluids, etc. I couldn't do that to him. He gave me 17 years of love, warmth and companionship. This cat even KNEW when I had a stomachache as, he would knead my stomach with his front paws and make me feel better. I miss my "Solomon" and will NEVER forget him.

I hope you all enjoyed my story, even if lengthy. Thanks again Hal for the thread!!!

~~Beth~~

***As an added note: My ex-husband stated that "he wished to be reincarnated as "Beth's Cat" as I took such good care of him. LOL

Plentyoffish Music.

Hello. I went to IMEEM and created a NEW playlist, dragged and dropped the song into the created folder. When I went to double click on it like I've done in the past to get the code, it comes up with a box now to either download the song or use Amazon.

What gives? Has the step AFTER creating the new playlist changed????

What am I doing wrong????? I can't figure it out and, I don't want to tear my hair out over this....

Thanks for any help to help me trouble-shoot this problem.

When Did I Get Old ?
Posted: 8/13/2009 1:15:05 PM

hmmmmmmmm....BETH......I think YOU just called this OLD lady 'gross and nasty'!!!

I HATE underwear!! I of course wear it when necessary, but if at ALL possible, I do NOT wear it!! Although, I don't think that has anything to do with getting OLDER!!! Actually, I think it keeps me YOUNGER!!!!

Leslie: I'm terribly sorry if I insulted you (or anyone else for that matter) with regards to my comment about "grown women NOT wearing underwear." I guess I should have kept my opinion to myself with regards to someone's personal undergarments status.
If truth be told, I am sans undies plenty of times in my own home, bed, just traipsing around the INSIDE of my home, but when I go out, especially in this hot, sticky, humid, acrid air of Florida, I prefer to stay "dry" down South...if you know what I mean AND wear cotton undies...(I save the sexy stuff for home).
I'm STILL a youngen at 48 and haven't hit peri-menopause or even menopause itself, so like I said, prefer undies...well, on THIS girl anyway.

I wasn't calling you or anyone else for that matter..."OLD", so sorry if you misconstrued that. I was only expressing my opinion with regards to Hallie's post of wearing hers inside out.

Everyone is entitled to what they like to wear or not wear as undergarments.

When Did I Get Old ?
Posted: 8/12/2009 8:38:20 PM

I'm losing my hair, and my mind. This morning I put my underwear on inside out.

Hallie: At least YOU wear underwear....I think it is SO NASTY (yuck) when I hear that grown women AREN'T wearing any and, they think that is OKAY....
sorry...gross, I say.
What are they thinking? They are TOO old to be thinking "air dry"....

I'm only feeling old when I KNOW that I have to go get my hair colored because I'm in the "salt and pepper" stage, but then again, I was in THAT stage at 21 years old and I didn't even have any kids THEN....lol

That's about ALL I feel old about ...currently...but let me sleep on it and something might pop in my brain....who knows!!!
