Laidbackguy, I think you missed out the 1 before the 5 LoL. There is a Motorhead album coming out in November of them doing cover versions called "Covers" and 1 of the tracks you can listen to and view is David Bowie's "Hero's".

Old vs new music
Posted: 7/28/2017 12:56:26 PM
I like a mixture of both, but a lot of the newer stuff by older artists.

Iggy Pop - Post Pop Depression.
Motorhead - Bad Magic
PIL - What the World Needs.
Billy Gibbons and the BFG's - Perfectamundo (Blues, Jazz, Funk, Latin)
AC/DC - Rock or Bust
Status quo- Live at The Roundhouse (Aquostic)

horror films, what are the best?
Posted: 7/6/2017 6:44:45 AM
I don't if it's the best but the last one I saw was " As Above So Below" set in the Paris catacombs.
I still like the classic 1930's films though and have fond memories watching them in my parents friends house late on Friday evening after the Boys Brigade many moons ago.

I'm with the Kirkton Community Rock Choir , and we always start a concert with,
Lean on Me that Bill Withers had a hit in the 70's. I'm also going to sing at a colleague's farewell retrial cuppa on Friday the 30th. The Cup Song/When I'm Gone from Pitch Perfect.

Summer of 76
Posted: 6/23/2017 2:25:10 PM
I was still at secondary school Harris Academy in the summer of 76. We had to go a place in Elliot Road, where the boy's got athletics or cricket and the girl's got tennis. We were meant to be doing athletics running, hurdles etc but it was so hot we just sat around on the grass. That's what I remember.

AC/DC.... Replacement for Brian...????

Now it seems Cliff Williams is calling it a day after the tour finishes. Is this the end of AC/DC? With only one original member left Angus Young.

dating an ex alcoholic or ex drug addict
Posted: 1/24/2016 7:51:12 AM
I think it could work. An example , take Alice Cooper married his wife Cheryl in 1975 he was already an alcoholic she made him go into rehab after he was coughing up blood, he came out sober and took up golf, but unfortunately ended up on the cocaine while working with co-writer Bernie Taupin on 1978's From the Inside Album.
It got so bad she threatened Divorce. Seemingly blood was coming from his eyes? He flushed the coke he had Left down the toilet went to sleep for 24hrs and gave it up. She took him back on condition he went out with her exercising Etc.
He had his comeback concert in 1986. They are still together and he is still touring to this day and hasn't touched anything since 1983.

Psychology behind not replying?
Posted: 1/24/2016 2:50:28 AM
Like your attitude theshortbiker. It's easier nowadays with the internet if no one is interested not like the olden days where you had to phone or tell someone face to face. I had that many many years ago with the Dear John Letter and phone call from an ex who was separated and took her hubby back.

Also it's easier to dump someone by text which in my opinion is the cowards way out.

Ronnie James Dio - Stomach cancer

I agree it's an old post but people still like the man. Bon Scott has been dead for 35 years but still remembered. In Kirriemuir where he was brought up until the age of 5. In 2006 they laid a stone plaque and bonfest music event was born and still on-going. Next year they are even erecting a bronze statue of him holding bagpipes.

The Next Day
Posted: 3/31/2013 10:24:33 AM
Any opinions on David Bowies new album? Iv'e listened to it twice now and it's quite good and grows on you even the 1st single "where are we now" even tho it's the only slow song on the album the more you play the more it grows. I might even buy it.

I do like Bowie myself Hunky Dory being one of my favourite albums and did have most of the famous albums from the 70's on cassette including 1980's Scary Monsters. Iv'e also got the DvD "Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars" The motion Picture 30th Anniversary addition from Hammersmith Odeon.

Wilco Johnson
Posted: 1/24/2013 11:51:18 AM
A bit of sad news of the guitarist. Just announced recenty on his website and on Johnny Walkers " Sounds of the 70's"on radio 2 last Sunday.

Wilco has recently been diagnoised with terminal cancer of the pancreas. He has chosen not to receive any cemotherapy. According to the site he is in good spirits ,is not yet suffering any physical effects and can expect to enjoy at least another few months of resonable health and activity.

He has been on a trip to Japan and completing a Cd on his return, a 4 date trip to France in February also a series of farewell concerts in the UK in March, also a lie DvD is in the pipeline from the last UK tour.

I admit i like Dr Feelgood when he was in the band and do have a DvD and Cd's of the band and have seen the " Oil City Confidential" documentry of the band which Wilco and other older band members feature.

Dublin Fire Brigade Documentry
Posted: 8/12/2012 10:32:06 AM
Hi is anyone else going to be watching this series that starts in September? Seemingly it's on RTE channel which must be a local Irish channel? Which is a pity unless it comes out later on one of the other channels and gets shown over here? Iv'e had an intrest in the Fire Service since 1975 aged 15.LoL and my father served with Tayside from 1962-1977 and left about 4 months before the 1st national strike. I know several retired firefighters from his era and 6 serving today in Tayside. I know that Dublin also do the Amblulance Service also

What's a suitable pet for a 5 yr. old child other than dogs or cats?
Posted: 8/7/2012 9:01:50 AM
There's one pet i can think of that dosen't need much looking after and that's a Goldfish. You only need to change the water every so often and feed it, but saying that sometimes they dont last long.
Is there not an orginisation like the Scouts, boys brigade,or playgroups like what there is in this country that he could join?
