It's hidden, as in there is NO smoking option. But under height, the yes, no and prefer not to Say options appear under the various heights in the drop-down menu.

The only "Prefer Not to Say" answers on my profile were car & income level.

Changed them both, still says "Prefer Not to Say" under smoking

I'm getting the following message when I log in:

You are currently listed as Smoker . Update your profile to make this message go away

I never changed my status, and when I click the link to update, the smoking preference is hidden under height. When I change it, it doesn't take, and my status is perpetually "Prefer Not to Say".

How do I change it to "no"???

Has anyone been to an Anthony Robbins seminar or listened to his C.D.'s
Posted: 8/10/2008 3:26:10 PM
Paul Bernardo was apparently a huge fan of Robbins. One of the ideas he got out of the seminars he attended and the tapes he purchased? Copying the tapes and selling them, lol.

valueclick.js ?

Just browsing profiles, and twice as I was coming back to my inbox, IE alerted me to something called valueclick.js that was attempting to download. I thought perhaps it was an IM window, but I didn't want to risk it. Anyone else experienced this?

Years ago, I was trying to think up the most "Canadian" name possible on a board I was a member of with international members. I think I did a pretty good job, and it stuck.

What is your favourite Beatles Album/Song???
Posted: 7/28/2008 11:18:03 AM
Favourite original Beatles album? Let it Be.

Favourite Beatles compilation? The soundtrack from the Cirque du Soleil show, Love. It's simply AMAZING... 130 pieces of music edited together to create 26 songs. Half the fun of listening to it is trying to figure out where the individual pieces of music came from.

But that annoying banner ad that starts out with that really loud test-pattern on some profiles here really irks me.

I got that the other day...I got it when I logged in.....scared the bejeesus outta me...geesh...I've no idea what it is either...lol doesn't impress me to say the least lol

Just got it again, and stayed around long enough to find out what it is. It's a DELL ad. I thought BigFish said previously that ads like this wouldn't be run on PoF?

As for the dress code? Use your own judgement. Dress to impress or just come casual. The key word is COME! Get your butt in the door and have a good time!!!

Is there a dance floor, or is it just karaoke?

At the last NYE event, the staff moved the pool table out of the way to make a small dane floor.

seems there are alot of guys attending compared to females. Is this a gay party or something?

All are welcome, this is not a "gay" or "straight" event. I met my current ladyfriend at a Groundhog event over the summer, so I can safley say that the atmosphere works regardless of what the ratio of men to women is.

Why?

Because events there have been a roaring success in the past.
Because the Groundhog's karaoke hosts are among the best in the GTA.
Because the smaller size of the pub allows for an intimate atmosphere, making it easier to get to know people.
Because the Groundhog LOVES PoF!!!

Parking: For those driving (please don't drink & drive!), there is paid parking available. Behind the pub. $6.00 parks you all night (be warned, the tickets fly easily there for those not displaying a parking tag)

Accommodations:

Nearby (ie: around the corner) Hotel Selby rates.

Need a Ride/Get a Ride: coming soon.

I feel bad for not mentioning this in the past, but it was brought to my attention that I should point out that the Groundhog is not wheelchair-friendly. The restrooms are located on the lower floor, making it difficult to access them.

SECOND ANNUAL HALLOWEEN KARAOKE, DOWNTOWN TORONTO 10/27/2007
Posted: 10/28/2007 5:32:36 PM
Thanks to those who came out last night. Hopefully a good time was had by all?

I owe someone a beer... you know who you are, but you never told me when your glass was empty!

An apology to those who were displaced by the pub staff. This was the first time they've ever reserved space for their "regulars". We've been doing events at the Groundhog for just over two years, and they've always told the regulars that they're expecting a big crowd the following week, and that if they want a seat, they'd better show up early. A lot of the pub's "regulars" who raised a fuss about being moved weren't even in costume. Who comes to a Halloween party and doesn't wear a costume???

Something else I want to address... I hope no one showed up last night, saw the $10 cover charge for JP's party (or whatever his name was) downstairs and left. That was NOT a PoF-related event.

Hopefully, the next event will be New Years' Eve!

What do you know about Bruce Springsteen?
Posted: 10/22/2007 3:32:27 PM

He evaded the draft by going to Canada.

You really should do better research before you slag someone like that. Bruce received his draft card, was tested and was labelled 4F.

Okay, I'm officially stoked for this party!!!

I FINALLY found my costume!!! Took a bit of driving around: the first one I bought didn't fit, and it wasn't made of a stretchy enough material to fit my, uh, rather large frame. The only drawback? It's only a rental.

What IS it, you ask? Show up on Saturday and find out!!!

Best Concerts ever !!!
Posted: 10/6/2007 8:05:16 PM
Those who know me would probably expect me to have a Springsteen show as my favourite. But on June 16, 1999 I saw Elvis Costello and Steve Nieve at Massey Hall, and was blown away. It was an acoustic show featuring just the two of them. I wasn't much of a fan going in, because I simply wasn't familiar with his material, apart from the hits of the 80's. Walking into the hall, the scalpers on the street were BEGGING for tickets... not one of them was selling, they were hoping to buy and score a profit. (scumbag weasels, the lot of them!)

I've now seen Bruce 10 times. The best show of his that I've seen is a toss-up between Ottawa in 2003 and SkyDome later that year. Ottawa, because I was in the "pit", close enough to touch the stage, and for hearing the Detroit Medley for the first time in person. Toronto, for the tribute he paid to Warren Zevon, who had passed away a few days earlier.

I've seen Pink Floyd a few times, but Roger Waters put on a MUCH better show. Comfortably Numb is an okay tribute (I saw them at the Opera House last year), but they're amateurs compared to the Australian Pink Floyd Show.

What do you mean not interested??? EVERYBODY'S welcome, I've just been away from the forum for a few days, sorry.

To answer your questions:

I don't know who ELSE is dressing up, but I will be. (not mandatory, but it's sure fun)

Do you HAVE to sing? Absolutley not, but it certainly adds to the fun.

Is Gannon a pool shark? No. He's a pool barracuda.

Anything else you need to bring? How about a friend or two? The more the merrier!

Rogers Scam? (Public Service Announcement)

I think you're all missing the point... I don't think this was a Rogers representative at all. They were repeatedly asking me to verify my home address and apartment number. I've lived here for over a year, and have been with Rogers for several years.

Rogers Scam? (Public Service Announcement)
Posted: 9/2/2007 5:14:18 PM
I got a call the other night from someone claiming to be Rogers Customer Service. They called from (***)***-1243, and were asking a bunch of stupid questions. "Are you enjoying our service?" "Any customer service issues?" and so on. The woman who called spoke very poor english, and seemed to be having trouble with the computer. I humoured them for a while, but then they started asking questions about my address. They asked "Is this a new address?", which drew a HUGE red flag... I've lived here for just over a year now. Then they asked me to VERIFY my address and apartment number, at which time I simply said "I'm sorry, but Rogers HAS my updated information" and hung up. When I picked up the phone a few minutes later, they were STILL there, and I could hear the same woman talking to someone in an east indian language.

If anyone gets an unsolicited call from "Rogers" asking you to verify information, HANG UP!!! Don't verify ANYTHING!!! I called that number back this afternoon and, surprise, surprise. It's not in service!

I received a similar call a few months ago where someone told me that the account number for my bundled service (phone, internet and cable) was different, and that I was to change my banking info and make payments into this "new" bundled account number. A few months later, I received a bill from Rogers that was over $700!!! NONE of my payments were going into my own account. Fortunately, I make all my payments at the Rogers store, and kept all the receipts, so they were able to transfer the payments back to my account.

Sky_, I'm sorry if you didn't have a good time.

For me, it was what it was. An opportunity to get out and meet a few people and see to it my friend had a memorable birthday. (I know I promised NOT to TOTALLY embarass him, but I think we succeeded in at least putting a smile on his face that will be there for a couple of days.

Thanks to all for coming out, to my co-hosts (especially to the birthday boy), and to the staff at the Groundhog for a great time.

A big hello and thanks to Jillian, as well, for the game before I left. I was a LITTLE drunk and VERY tired (been on the go since 9am). Here's hoping for an opportunity for a future rematch.

Wow! Look at all the people who've signed up in the last day or so. I guess that last minute mass e-vite was a good idea after all, lol.

It's playing havoc with my "Viewed Me" page, though. I can't tell who has been viewing my profile out of a genuine interest / curiosity about me and who's been viewing it just to judge the party based on the guy hosting it.

hehehehe.... as a last-minute lark, I sent out a mass e-vite to everyone who had signed up, everyone who lives within 10 miles of the Groundhog, and everyone who had attended an event there in the past. I've been having fun all night watching my "Viewed Me" list.... the message went out to 680 people, and I don't think the same 30 people have been on the list for more than a half hour or so, lol.

This time tonight, this should be me and Gannon...
